综述了南海和台湾以东海域若干气旋型和反气旋型涡旋研究.在南海存在着许多活跃的中尺度涡,我们分别对南海中、南部海域和南海北部海域中尺度涡作了评述.在南海北部海域,目前最感兴趣的问题为:南海水与西菲律宾海通过吕宋海峡的交换的物理过程,以及黑潮是否以反气旋流套形式进入南海.这些问题目前尚不清楚,尤其是这些问题的机理.这些问题必须通过今后深入和细致的、长时间的海流和水文观测,以及长时间卫星遥感观测资料的论证才能逐渐认识清楚.台湾以东海域,黑潮两侧经常出现中尺度涡,而且变化较大而复杂.文中着重讨论兰屿冷涡和台湾东北的气旋式冷涡.  相似文献

We examined the surface current structure in the Tsushima Warm Current (TWC) region of the Japan Sea based on a dataset from satellite-tracked surface drifters, including our new deployments during 2004–2008. The gridded mean current velocity and mean kinetic energy (KE) fields calculated from all available drifter data revealed the structure and seasonality of the three branches of the TWC. By comparing the eddy kinetic energy (EKE) field to the KE field, we found four regions where the ratio of EKE to KE was high. In particular, this ratio became extremely high east of the Oki Islands located between the first branch of the TWC (FBTWC) and the second branch of the TWC (SBTWC). Our analysis suggests that the generation of alternate warm and cold eddies east of the Oki Island induced this high ratio. The occurrence of a warm or cold eddy was related to the route—either nearshore or offshore—of the SBTWC. When the offshore route of the SBTWC became dominant, a warm eddy was frequently generated east of the Oki Islands. In contrast, when the nearshore route of the SBTWC became dominant, a cold eddy was more likely to be generated.  相似文献

Eddy Field in the Japan Sea Derived from Satellite Altimetric Data   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The Japan Sea is one of the eddy-rich areas in the world. Many researchers have described the variability of the eddy field and its structure in the Tsushima Warm Current region. On the other hand, since there are few data covering the northern part of the Japan Sea, we are not able to understand the detailed variability of the eddy field there. The variation of the eddy field in the Japan Sea is investigated using the temporal fluctuations of sea surface height measured by altimetric data from TOPEX/POSEIDON and ERS-2. Tidal signals are eliminated from the altimetric data on the basis of the results of Morimoto et al. (2000). Distributions of sea surface dynamic height are produced by using the optimal interpolation method every month. The distributions warm and cold eddies that we obtained coincide well with the observed isotherms at 100 m depth measured by the Japan Sea National Fisheries Research Institute and the sea surface temperature measured by satellite. There are areas with high RMS variability of temporal fluctuation of sea surface dynamic height in the Yamato Basin, the Ulleung Basin, east of North Korea, the eastern part of the Yamato Rise, the Tsushima Strait and west of Hokkaido. The characteristics of eddy propagation in the high RMS variability regions are examined using a lag correlation analysis. Seasonal variations in the number of warm and cold eddies are also examined.  相似文献

近十年来,随着海洋探测技术的发展,在世界各大洋里都发现了中尺度涡旋,这是物理海洋学上的重大进展之一。目前所发现的中尺度涡旋,不管是在大洋里,还是在极地区,一般均处于千米以上的深水区。但在陆架浅海区,海底摩擦要消耗大量的能量,是否也会出现这类涡旋,这是一个令人感兴趣的问题。 根据现有文献和我们对近几年东海水文调查资料的初步分析得知,在我国陆架区至少有两个气旋型涡旋,一个在台湾东北的彭佳屿附近海域,另一个在济州岛西南海域。对前者,管秉贤(1978)和M.Uda(1974)等均从冷水团的角度进行过研究,特别是日本学者在此海域进行了多次调査。至于后者,井上尚文(1975)曾根据1969年11月投放的“人工水母”(即底层流示踪器)的资料分析指出:“在黄海暖流和黄海沿岸流两股底层流的中间区域,有黄海冷水伸入。在秋、冬期间,南北流向呈反时针方向旋转。从而可以认为,以调查海区的中部(济州岛南面)海底为中心,有一个范围相当大的环流存在。”由此人们自然会提出这样一个问题:在春、夏两季,这一反时针方向的水平环流是否继续存在。尤其在夏季,自南北上进入黄海和东海的黑潮及其分支(对马暖流和黄海暖流)与黄海、东海沿岸流系交错汇合,盘踞在下层的冷水又极度发展,使得环流结构和水文状况较冬季复杂得多,这时的情况又将变得怎样?本文主要根据1972年7-8月常规水文观测资料,同时参照近几年的水文资料,对此问题作一初步探讨。 本文研究的重点海区的范围是30°30′-33°00′N,124°00′-127°E,如图1阴影部分所示。为了便于资料的分析,在绘制温、盐度等平面分布图时,将其范扩大到28°-34°N之间的大部分海域。 本文引用的资料主要来源于国家海洋局标准断面调查资料,东海渔业资源调査资料,日本气象厅海洋气象观测资料和南朝鲜水产振兴院海洋观测资料。  相似文献

From January 9 to 17, 1981, detailed observations of the horizontal and vertical structure beneath one of the quasi-permanent semi-stationary mesoscale offshore eddy signatures in the California Current System (CCS) discussed by Bernstein, Breaker and Whritner (1977), Burkov and Pavlova (1980), and Simpson (1982) were made. The vertical sections of temperature and density show the presence of three-layer system. A subsurface warm-core eddy, whose diameter is about 150 km at the 7°C isotherm, is the dominant feature. A warm surface layer, which extends to a depth of 75 m, lies over the eddy. Between the warm surface layer and the subsurface warm-core eddy, there is a cold-core region which extends to a depth of about 200 m. There is a high degree of symmetry about the vertical axis of rotation. Vertical sections of salinity and dissolved oxygen are entirely different from sections of temperature and density. Diagrams of water mass characteristics confirm that the core of the eddy, found between 250–600 m, consists of inshore water from the California Undercurrent (CU). Below about 700 m, local waters from the Deep Poleward Flow (DPF) have been incorporated into the eddy. The observed distributions of properties (T, S, δθ, O2) are inconsistent with a single, local generation process for the eddy system. Radial distributions of angular velocity, normalized gradient velocity and relative vorticity support the use of a Gaussian radial height field as an initial condition in eddy models. Possible reasons why CCS eddies may differ dynamically from Gulf Stream rings are given in the text. At the time the observations were made, the system as a whole was in near geostrophic balance. Local geostrophic balance, however, cannot explain the observed distribution of properties and structure. The observed symmetry in the structure of the eddy system, chemical evidence (Simpson, 1984), biological distributions (Haury, 1984) and satellite images of the CC (Koblinsky, Simpson and Dickey, 1984) suggest that lateral entrainment of warm (oceanic) and cold (coastal) water into the upper two layers of the three-layer system by the subsurface eddy is a likely generation mechanism for the cold-core region. The coastal origin of the frontal structure along the northeastern quadrant and the oceanic origin of the frontal structure along the southwestern quadrant of the eddy system further support lateral entrainment as a generation mechanism for the cold core. This entrainment makes the CCS eddy system different from cold-core rings in the Gulf Stream and rather similar to some warm-core eddies found in the East Australian Current. The presence of CU water in the core of this eddy raises the question of how CU water was transported from the continental slope. Eddy generation mechanisms, other than baroclinic instability of the CC, may be required to explain the distribution, persistence, and core composition of offshore mesoscale eddies in the CCS. There is evidence that barotropic, in addition to baroclinic, processes may be important.  相似文献

利用1993-2000年间的T/P卫星高度计轨道资料的时间序列和MODAS同化产品中的卫星高度计最优插值资料对南海东北部海区中尺度涡旋进行动态追踪。按照给定的标准从2种资料中提取了涡旋信息并对其特征量进行统计分析。结果表明,南海东北部海区中尺度涡旋十分活跃,平均每年6个,其中暖涡4个,尺度一般为200~250 km,平均地转流速为44 cm/s;冷涡每年平均2个,尺度一般为150~200 km,平均地转流速为-37 cm/s。吕宋海峡两侧涡旋的比较分析表明,南海东北部海区仍属于西北太平洋副热带海区的涡旋带,冷、暖涡旋处于不断的形成—西移—消散过程中。南海东北部中尺度冷涡大多是南海内部产生的,而暖涡与吕宋海峡外侧暖涡有一定的联系又具有相对的独立性。分析认为西北太平洋的西行暖涡在到达吕宋海峡时,受到黑潮东翼东向下倾的等密度面的抑制和岛链的阻碍,涡旋停滞于吕宋海峡外侧并逐渐消弱,被阻挡于吕宋海峡东侧涡旋释放的能量,形成一支横穿吕宋海峡(同时横穿过黑潮)的高速急流,把能量传递给吕宋海峡西侧的涡旋,使其得到强化,这是吕宋海峡两侧涡旋联系的一种重要机制。  相似文献

在我国,关于黄海、东海温、盐度逆转结构的分析研究,主要是在80年代以后开始的。翁学传等(1984)、曹欣中等(1982)和丁宗信(1983)对东海某一特定海域的温、盐度逆转结构进行过分析,但是对整个黄海、东海海区来说,有关这方面的研究尚未见报道。 本文根据1983-1986年中国科学院海洋研究所在黄海、东海每年夏季调查的CTD观测资料,同时参考1963年以来国家海洋局调查的标准断面资料,对黄海、东海夏季(6-8月)温、盐度逆转結构的分布及其成因进行初步的分析研究。 根据资料和兰淑芳等(1985)的分析,北黄海很少出现温、盐度逆转结构的类型,虽偶有出现,但分布也不规律,因此本文把研究海区重点放在南黄海和东海(图1)。  相似文献

According to the satellite remote sensing monthly mean sea surface temperature data from 1998 to 2002, it is shown that, the Sulu Sea is dominated by a cold eddy both in summer and winter. A coupled single-layer/two-layer model is employed here to study the summery and wintry characteristics and dynamic mechanism of the upper circulation in the Sulu Sea. According to the numerical experiments, it is found that, due to the local monsoon stress cud, the upper circulation in the Sulu Sea is dominated by a weak anticyclonic eddy in summer and a strong cyclonic eddy in winter. Once there is a large outflow via the Sibutu Passage flowing out of the Sulu Sea in summer, the upper circulation in the Sulu Sea may be dominated by a cyclonic eddy instead of the normal anti- cyclonic one. Moreover, in summer, the water exchange between the Sulu Sea and South China Sea via the Mindoro and Balabac Straits might have some effect on the separation position and strength of the northward western boundary current next to the Indo - China Peninsula in the southern South China Sea.  相似文献

The role of Coriolis in sandbank formation due to a headland/island system   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Tidal flow past a headland was modelled and the resulting sandbank formation due to bedload transport by eddy systems was examined with particular emphasis on the role of Coriolis. The headland configuration was extended to the more complex case of a headland with a detached island and the role of Coriolis in sandbank formation was again examined. In the headland case, the contribution of Coriolis resulted in the expected change in bed level at the centre of the residual eddies (positive contribution for the cyclonic eddy and negative change for the anticyclonic eddy). In the headland/island case, the role of Coriolis in the resulting bed level change was a function of eddy shedding from the island, defined by the island wake parameter. When eddy shedding occurred, the inclusion of Coriolis had a large magnitude effect on creating flood/ebb sandbank asymmetry. When eddies remained attached to the island, Coriolis had a minor role in the magnitude of this asymmetry.  相似文献

Data from satellite altimetry and in situ observations together with the Hybrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM) reanalysis data were used to investigate the mechanism and formation of an anticyclonic eddy in the northeastern South China Sea (SCS). Analysis of water mass using cruise data indicated that the water captured in the eddy diff ers from those in the SCS, the Kuroshio intrusion, and the eddy-forming region. Data from sea surface height (SSH) and sea level anomaly (SLA) indicate that the eddy formed due both to the Kuroshio intrusion and the local circulation in the SCS. The Kuroshio intrusion is present at the start of the eddy growth (March 5-9) before Kuroshio leaps the Luzon Strait. The eddy then becomes larger and stronger in the absence of the Kuroshio intrusion. From the eddy budget of the HYCOM reanalysis data, the formation of the eddy goes in three steps. By the third step, the eddy had become aff ected by variations of local SCS circulation, which is more strongly than in the fi rst step in which it is aff ected more by the Kuroshio intrusion. The variability of the temperature and salinity inside the eddy provide a support to this conclusion. The water in the SCS intruded into the eddy from the southeast, which decrease the salinity gradually in the southern part of the eddy during the growth period.  相似文献

本文利用最新的涡旋数据集和ARMOR3D数据,研究了南海中尺度涡温盐结构的季节特征及形成机制。合成分析的结果表明,在冬季,涡旋引起温度异常的水平分布在50米以浅表现为类似偶极型分布,而在50m以深则趋向于中心对称分布;在夏季,温度异常的水平分布均表现为中心对称的特征。涡旋引起盐度异常的水平分布也具有类似的季节特征,但是偶极型中的不对称性相对较弱。在垂向上,涡旋所致的温度异常表现为单层结构,而盐度异常则为三层结构。进一步的分析表明,涡旋所致温盐异常的垂向分布特征与背景温盐的垂向分层有关;而在50m以浅,温盐异常的水平分布的不对称特征主要由背景温盐场的水平平流所致。  相似文献

The eddy formation determined as an anticyclonic spin-off eddy of the Gulf Stream is analysed from the CTD data of surveys made in the Gulf Stream region. The differences in its structure and conditions of formation from cyclonic eddies of this type observed previously are examined. 本文利用POM模式对环台湾岛海域冬季的水文要素进行了数值模拟,对有代表性的水平环流、温度场和上升流三个要素所进行的分析表明:模式再现了台湾岛东岸的高温高盐强流速区即黑潮,黑潮在冬季并无直接进入台湾海峡的分支存在;西岸的东北向流在冬季各个层次上都存在,台湾东北部的冷涡模拟与实况较为一致。温度场和上升流的分布与水平环流有很好的对应关系。本文还进一步验证了前人的一些研究成果,并对一些特殊物理现象的成因进行了定性解释。  相似文献

本文基于现场观测资料并结合FVCOM三维海洋模式的模拟结果,研究了2010年青岛冷水团生消过程和演变机制。结果表明,山东半岛东南海域的中层冷水是青岛冷水团的雏形,于4月中旬演变为青岛冷水团,位于青岛东南外海40m以下的盐度锋面中;刻画了青岛冷水团的消亡过程:5月青岛冷水团的北部底层水并入南黄海底层冷水中,构成南黄海的西部冷中心;而南部水团面积大幅减小,温盐特征大幅上升;6月上旬,青岛冷水团完全被南黄海底层冷水吞并,青岛冷水团完全消亡;揭示了青岛-石岛近海反气旋涡、黄海冷水团锋面密度环流对青岛冷水团的作用,前者是青岛冷水团存在的动力机制,后者加剧了底层海域的水平热量交换,促使了青岛冷水团的消亡。  相似文献

黄海中部、济州岛西南,存在厚层的泥质沉积,它们分别与上述地区的冷涡活动区相对应。在两个泥质沉积区之间又出现连接它们的通道,形成别有特征的“冷涡-通道”沉积体系。经分析发现,这个沉积体系,完全受控于黄海暖流、冷涡及其相关的环流体系。此外,在黄海西南部及东海北部海底发现大面积砂岩及其砾石,揭示了黄、东海陆架沉积物的新源地。  相似文献

Mesoscale eddies play an important role in modulating the ocean circulation. Many previous studies on the threedimensional structure of mesoscale eddies were mainly based on composite analysis, and there are few targeted observations for individual eddies. A cyclonic eddy surveyed during an oceanographic cruise in the Northwest Pacific Ocean is investigated in this study. The three-dimensional structure of this cyclonic eddy is revealed by observations and simulated by the four-dimensional variational data assimilation(4 DVAR) system combined with the Regional Ocean Modeling System. The observation and assimilation results together present the characteristics of the cyclonic eddy. The cold eddy has an obvious dual-core structure of temperature anomaly.One core is at 50–150 m and another is at 300–550 m, which both have the average temperature anomaly of approximately-3.5°C. The salinity anomaly core is between 250 m and 500 m, which is approximately-0.3. The horizontal velocity structure is axis-asymmetric and it is enhanced on the eastern side of the cold eddy. In the assimilation experiment, sea level anomaly, sea surface temperature, and in situ measurements are assimilated into the system, and the results of assimilation are close to the observations. Based on the high-resolution assimilation output results, the study also diagnoses the vertical velocity in the mesoscale eddy, which reaches the maximum of approximately 10 m/d. The larger vertical velocity is found to be distributed in the range of 0.5 to 1 time of the normalized radius of the eddy. The validation of the simulation result shows that the 4 DVAR method is effective to reconstruct the three-dimensional structure of mesoscale eddy and the research is an application to study the mesoscale eddy in the Northwest Pacific by combining observation and assimilation methods.  相似文献

In September 2004, an extensive survey of a cold-core eddy in the Canada Basin, western Arctic was carried out with high-horizontal-resolution physical and chemical sampling and lower-horizontal-resolution biological sampling. The eddy was located over the continental slope north of the Chukchi Shelf and had a radius of ∼8 km. Its core was centered at a depth of ∼160 m. Water mass characteristics and the presence of copepods from the North Pacific Ocean (Neocalanus flemingeri and Metridia pacifica) demonstrated that the core contained water of Pacific origin. Vertical distributions of zooplankton were associated with the physical structure of the water column. For most taxa, concentrations in the eddy core were elevated compared with those in similar density water in the surrounding Basin. Based on tracer-age estimates and previous observations of eddy formation, the eddy is believed to have been formed during the previous spring/summer from the Chukchi shelfbreak jet. Surprisingly, the eddy also contained elevated abundances of Arctic-origin copepods (Metridia longa and Calanus glacialis). Analysis of a shelf–basin transect occupied in the region in August 2004 showed that these species were present in high abundances in relatively shallow water (50 m) inshore of the shelfbreak due to upwelling of deeper basin water, and copepods, onto the shelf in response to easterly winds. If the formation of the observed eddy occurred during, or shortly after, a period of such winds, upwelled Arctic-origin copepods on the shelf might have been entrained into the feature. Our observations suggest that formation and subsequent migration of such eddies may provide a mechanism for transporting zooplankton from the Chukchi Shelf into the interior Canada Basin. The periodic input of high abundances of zooplankton from productive shelf areas could affect food webs in the less productive basin.  相似文献

南印度洋是海洋中尺度涡的多发区域。本文利用卫星高度计资料及Argo浮标资料,对南印度洋(10°~35°S, 50°~120°E)区域中尺度涡的分布、表观特征等进行了统计分析,采用合成方法,构建了该区域中尺度涡的三维温盐结构。结果表明,涡旋频率呈明显的纬向带状分布,在18°~30°S存在一个明显的涡旋频率带状高值区;涡旋半径具有由南至北逐渐增大的趋势;长周期涡旋在其生命周期内,半径、涡动能、涡能量密度、涡度等性质均经历了先增大而后减小的过程;涡旋以西向运动为主,在经向上移动距离较小,长周期气旋(反气旋)涡具有明显的偏向极地(赤道)移动的倾向;涡旋平均移动速度为5.9 cm/s,速度大小大致沿纬向呈带状分布。在混合层以下,气旋涡(反气旋涡)内部分别呈现明显的温度负(正)异常,且分别存在两个位温负(正)异常的冷(暖)核结构;气旋涡(反气旋涡)整体上呈现"正-负"("负-正")上下层相反的盐度异常结构。中尺度涡对温盐的平均影响深度可达1 000×104 Pa以上。  相似文献

日本南部黑潮路径变异对北太平洋地区的气候和环境具有显著的影响,对黑潮路径变异的研究具有重要的意义。本文利用POM(Princeton Ocean Model)数值模式模拟了日本南部黑潮的路径变异情况,分析了黑潮大弯曲路径形成的可能机制。研究结果表明,当黑潮处于非大弯曲路径时,相对位势涡度的平均值呈现递减趋势,说明日本南部低位势涡度水在不断积累,这样会使得四国再循环流的强度增强,迫使黑潮保持平直路径,同时,近岸黑潮垂直流速剪切增大,斜压不稳定性的作用也逐渐增大;当黑潮从非大弯曲路径向大弯曲路径过渡时,再循环流强度的减弱会导致黑潮的流速剪切减小。根据海表高度异常场以及海洋上层流场信息发现,近岸黑潮附近的气旋涡会随着再循环流区域反气旋涡的东侧向南运动,最终导致黑潮大弯曲的发生。分析涡流的能量,结果显示,黑潮大弯曲路径的形成与斜压不稳定性密切相关。  相似文献
