Speckle interferometric binary system HD375; Is it a sub-giant binary?   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Atmospheric modeling is used to build synthetic spectral energy distributions (SEDs) for the individual components of the speckle interferometric binary system HD375. These synthetic SEDs are combined together for the entire system and compared with its observed SED in an iterative procedure to achieve the best fit. Kurucz blanketed models and the measurements of magnitude differences were used to build these SEDs. The input physical parameters for building these best fitted synthetic SEDs represent adequately enough properties of the system. These parameters are: T eff a = 6100 ± 50 K, T eff b = 5940 ± 50 K, log g a = 4.01 ± 0.10, log g b = 3.98 ± 0.10, R a = 1.93 ± 0.20R , R b = 1.83 ± 0.20R , M v a = 3 · m 26 ± 0.40, M v b = 3 · m 51 ± 0.50, L a = 4.63 ± 0.80 L , and L b = 3.74 ± 0.70 L , in accordance with the new estimated parallax π = 12.02 ± 0.60 mas. A modified orbit of the system is built and compared with earlier orbits, and the masses of the two components are calculated as M a = 1.35M and M b = 1.25M . Based on the estimated physical and geometrical parameters of the system, which are confirmed by synthetic photometry, we suggest that the two components are evolved subgiant (F8.5 IV and G0 IV) stars with the age of 3.5 Gyr, formed by fragmentation.  相似文献

Using polarimetric spectra obtained with the SOFIN spectrograph installed at the Nordic Optical Telescope, we detect a longitudinal magnetic field 〈Bz〉 = –168±35 G in the Of?p star HD 108. This result is in agreement with the longitudinal magnetic field measurement of the order of –150 G recently reported by the MiMeS team. The measurement of the longitudinal magnetic field in the Of?p star HD 191612 results in 〈Bz〉 = +450±153 G. The only previously published magnetic field measurement for this star showed a negative longitudinal magnetic field 〈Bz〉 = –220±38 G, indicating a change of polarity over ∼100 days. Further, we report the detection of distinct Zeeman features in the narrow Ca II and Na I doublet lines for both Of?p stars, hinting at the possible presence of material around these stars. The origin of these features is not yet clear and more work is needed to investigate how magnetic fields interact with stellar wind dynamics (© 2010 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. An analysis of the Lowell Observatory photographic plates of Saturn gave the following results: (1) ring A and B show peculiar brightness distributions around the planet, from which we conclude that both are composed of particles in synchronous rotation. (2) The leading side of the particles in ring A is brighter than the trailing side by about 4%, which may indicate an interaction between such particles and the interplanetary medium. (3) Scans of the rings across the major axis show a small (~0.3″) region of enhanced brightness, from which we derive a value ofT s =10h13 . m 8±5 . m 4 for the actual planetary rotational period of Saturn. (4) In order to explain the synchronous rotation, the particles in ring A have to be at least 42 m in diameter.  相似文献

In the spectral region λλ = 610.25−610.57 nm of the roAp star HD 101065, we performed the identification of the rare-earth element absorption lines absent from the atomic spectral line databases VALD and DREAM. The identified lines were used for calculating the synthetic spectra of the roAp stars HD 137949, HD 134214, and HD 24712. The upper limit of the identified line estimates was determined. The rotation/pulsation parameter νsini and magnetic field modulus were determined using the lines Nd III 669.083 nm and Ca I 616.217 nm. The element abundance in the roAp stars HD 134214 and HD 24712 was determined for the first time using Nd III lines. Calculations were carried out with the help of the code SynthM developed by S.A. Despite the same multiplicity of lenses and sources, the frequency of detection of binary source events is relatively very low compared with that of binary lens events. Dominik pointed out that the rarity of binary source events is caused mainly by the large difference in amplification between the component stars. In this paper, we determine that the fraction of events with similar source star amplifications is as large as ∼8 per cent, and thus show that the very low detection rate for binary source events cannot be explained by this effect alone. By carrying out realistic simulations of binary source events, we find that a significant number of binary source events are additionally missed from detection for various other reasons. First, if the flux ratio between the component stars is very large, the light curve of the bright star is hardly affected by the light from the faint star. Secondly, if the separation is too small, the binary source stars behave like a single star, making it difficult to separate the binary source event from a single source event. Finally, although the probability of detecting binary source events increases as the source separation increases, some fraction of binary source events will still be missed because the light curves of these events will mimic those of single source events with longer time-scales and larger values of the impact parameter.  相似文献

Near-infrared images and K-band spectroscopy of the massive star-forming region IRAS 23151+5912 are presented. The JHK' images reveal an embed-ded infrared cluster associated with infrared nebula, and the H_2 (2.12μm) narrow-band image provides for the first time evidence of outflow activity associated withthe cluster. That the cluster is young can be shown by the high percentage ofinfrared excess sources and the outflow activity. We suggest an age of the clus-ter of ~ 10~6yr. Eight young stars are found in the bright nebular core aroundIRAS 23151+5912. By the color-magnitude diagrams of the cluster, we found fivehigh--mass YSOs and four intermediate-mass YSOs in the cluster. Eight H_2 emissionfeatures are discovered in the region with a scattered and non-axisymmetric distri-bution, indicating the existence of multiple outflows driven by the cluster. DiffuseH_2 emission detected to the north and to the west of the cluster may result fromUV leakage of the cluster. Brγ, H_2, and CIV emission lines are  相似文献

HD93044 was observed electrophotometricaly on April 21, May 1, 2 and 4, 1991 at Xinglong Station of Beijing Astronomical Observatory. Combining the data with Li Zhiping's data together and a period analysis was completed using a program which consists of a combination of Fourier transforms of prewhitened data and the multifrequency least squares of brightness residuals (LSR). Three pulsation frequencies (11.90809, 16.79553, 22.44827 cycles per day) with visual amplitudes between 0.0056 and 0.0203 mag were found. The solution fits the observations to +0.0071 mag which is equal to the mean square deviation of observations. The first frequency (11.90809 cycles per day) must be the right value of the fundamental frequency of HD93044.  相似文献

The excitation of H2O masers usually needs very high density gas, hence it can serve as a marker of dense gas in HII region. We selected a sample of H2O maser sources from Plume et al. (four with, and four without detected CS(J = 7-6) emission), and observed them in 13CO(J=1-0) and C18O (J=1-0). C18O (J=1-0) emission was detected only in three of the sources with detected CS(J=7-6) emission. An analysis combined with some data in the literature suggests that these dense cores may be located at different evolutionary stages. Multi-line observation study may provide us clues on the evolution of massive star forming regions and the massive stars themselves.  相似文献

Using visual, photographic, and photoelectric measurements, we have constructed a historical light curve for the young binary system UY Aur on an interval longer than 100 yr. About a quarter of all magnitude estimates have been obtained for the first time from photographic plates of the Sternberg Astronomical Institute and Harvard College Observatory Astronomical Plate Stacks. Analysis of the light curve and the magnitude dependences of the polarization and color has led us to the following conclusions. Cyclic variations in the seasonally mean brightness of the binary’s primary component UY Aur A with a period of ≃16.3 yr occurred from the mid-1920s to the mid-1940s and after 1986. The variations are caused by the change in the rate of disk accretion onto the star attributable to the motion of the hypothetical companion UY Aur C around the primary star in an orbit with a semimajor axis of ≃ 6 AU. From the early 1950s to the mid-1980s, the periodicity of the seasonally mean variations was not noticeable due to nonperiodic eclipses of UY Aur A by gas-dust clouds. Between 1945 and 1974, another gas-dust cloud obscured and still obscures the component UY Aur B, causing its mean optical brightness to drop by several magnitudes. The role of the clouds that caused an almost simultaneous eclipse of the stars, whose separation in projection onto the celestial sphere exceeds 100 AU, is played by the denser and puffed-up regions of their accretion disks. These regions are the result of a dynamical interaction between the binary’s stars and the outer circumbinary accretion disk. The extinction variations with time are attributable to orbital motion of the binary’s stars and azimuthal inhomogeneity of the clump regions in the disks. A number of observational tests are suggested to verify our conclusions.  相似文献

We critically discuss the recent observations of the binary system at the center of the bipolar planetary nebula Henize 2–428. We find that the proposed explanation of two equal-mass degenerate objects with a total mass larger than the Chandrasekhar limiting mass that supposedly will merge in less than a Hubble time, possibly leading to a SN Ia, is controversial. This hypothesis relies on the assumption that the variability of the He II 5412 Å  spectral line is due to two absorption components. Instead, we propose that it can be accounted for by a broad absorption line from the central system on top of which there is a narrow emission line from the nebula. This prompted us to study if the binary system can be made of a degenerate star and a low-mass main sequence companion, or of two degenerate objects of smaller mass. We find that although both scenarios can account for the existence of two symmetric broad minima in the light curve, the second one agrees better with observations. We thus argue that the claim that Henize 2–428 provides observational evidence supporting the double-degenerate scenario for SN Ia is premature.  相似文献

Variations of the Hα line in the spectra of the star HD14134 are investigated using observations carried out in 2013–2014 and in 2016 with the 2-m telescope at Shamakhy Astrophysical Observatory.In the spectra of this star,the absorption and emission components of Hα are found to disappear and an inverse P Cyg profile of Hα is seen on some observational epochs.Our observations showed that when the Hα line disappeared or an inversion of the P-Cyg-type profile is observed in the spectra,the Hβ line is redshifted.When these events appeared,no synchronous variabilities were observed in the spectral parameters of other spectral lines formed in deeper atmospheric layers.In addition,the structures of Hα,CII(6578.05 ,6582.88 ),SiII(6347.1 ,6371.36 ) and Hβ lines are variable on a timescale of hours,but we did not detect significant variations in the other photospheric lines,as well as in the HeI(5875.72 ) line.It is suggested that observational evidence for the non-stationary atmosphere of HD14134 can be associated in part with non-spherical stellar wind.  相似文献

HD 49798(a hydrogen depleted subdwarf O6 star) with its massive white dwarf(WD) companion has been suggested to be a progenitor candidate of a type Ia supernova(SN Ia). However, it is still uncertain whether the companion of HD 49798 is a carbon-oxygen(CO) WD or an oxygen-neon(ONe) WD. A CO WD will explode as an SN Ia when its mass grows and approaches the Chandrasekhar limit, but the outcome of an accreting ONe WD is likely to be a neutron star. We generated a series of Monte Carlo calculations that incorperate binary population synthesis to simulate the formation of ONe WD + He star systems. We found that there is almost no orbital period as large as HD 49798 with its WD companion in these ONe WD + He star systems based on our simulations, which means that the companion of HD 49798 might not be an ONe WD. We suggest that the companion of HD 49798 is most likely a CO WD, which can be expected to increase its mass to the Chandrasekhar limit by accreting He-rich material from HD 49798. Thus, HD 49798 and its companion may produce an SN Ia as a result of its future evolution.  相似文献

We study the general relativistic orbital equation and using a straightforward perturbation method and a mathematical device first introduced by d’Alembert, we work out approximate expressions of a bound planetary orbit in the form of trigonometrical polynomials and the first three terms of the power series development of the perihelion advance. High-resolution optical spectra of the zero age star HD77407 are analysed and its Li, C, O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Sc, Ti, V, Co, Ni and Ba contents are determined using spectral synthesis method. The temperature of the star is determined by fitting the H α line wings. The parameters derived for this star are Teff=5900K, log g=4.47 and [Fe/H] = 0.07. It is found that the derived iron content is slightly higher than what is given in the published literature. This star shows a relative overabundances of Ca and Ba, and underabundances of Na, V and Ni with respect to the solar mix. Activity of the star is indicated by the filled in Hα and Ca II triplet line cores. It has been confirmed that our spectroscopic approach yields fairly reliable and consistent results for active stars.  相似文献

We continue former work on the modeling of potential effects of Gamma Ray Bursts on Phanerozoic Earth. We focus on global biospheric effects of ozone depletion and model the spectral reduction of light by NO2 formed in the stratosphere. We also illustrate the current complexities involved in the prediction of how terrestrial ecosystems would respond to this kind of burst. We conclude that more biological field and laboratory data are needed to reach even moderate accuracy in this modeling.  相似文献

The fast radio burst, FRB 171019, was relatively bright when discovered first by ASKAP but was identified as a repeater with three faint bursts detected later by GBT and CHIME. These observations lead to the discussion of whether the first bright burst shares the same mechanism with the following repeating bursts. A model of binary neutron star merger is proposed for FRB 171019, in which the first bright burst occurred during the merger event, while the subsequent repeating bursts are starquake-induced, and generally fainter, as the energy release rate for the starquakes can hardly exceed that of the catastrophic merger event. This scenario is consistent with the observation that no later burst detected is as bright as the first one.  相似文献

We determined atmospheric parameters of the Galactic early B-supergiant HD 198478 (55 Cyg) from the UV silicon lines taken from the high-resolution 1150–1980 Å IUE spectra. TLUSTY numerical code was used to model the stellar atmosphere and to determine the temperature and surface gravity assuming a non-LTE plane parallel hydrostatic stellar atmosphere with microturbulence. The synthesized spectra were broadened by the IUE instrumental profile, rotational and macroturbulent velocity with ROTIN numerical code. The silicon 1264 Å, 1309 Å, 1312 Å, 1417 Å and 1294–1303 Å multiplet lines of different stages of ionization (Si II and Si III) and Balmer Hδ 4101 Å line were modeled, leading to the temperature, surface gravity, rotational and macroturbulent velocity values. Our results have shown that the line broadening cannot be explained by rotational velocity only, but additional macroturbulent velocity component should be taken into account. HD 198478 shows a significant degeneracy in velocity, which means that the individual contributions of the macroturbulence and rotation in the total velocity broadening cannot be distinguished. Adequate fit of TLUSTY models to the observed non-resonant silicon lines suggests that the non-LTE plane-parallel hydrostatic stellar model without wind contribution can be used to explain such lines. We have obtained similar results using the HST STIS spectra in the same procedure, showing that the IUE spectra, despite their lacking quality compared to the STIS spectra, are reliable enough in determination of the B supergiants’ photospheric parameters.  相似文献

We present new measurements and modelling of low-resolution transmission spectra of self-broadened ammonia gas, one of the most important absorbers found in the near-infrared spectrum of the planet Jupiter. These new spectral measurements were specifically designed to support measurements of Jupiter's atmosphere made by the Near-Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (NIMS) which was part of the Galileo mission that orbited Jupiter from 1995 to September 2003. To reach approximate jovian conditions in the lab, a new gas spectroscopy facility was developed and used to measure self-broadened ammonia spectra from 0.74 to 5.2 μm, virtually the complete range of the NIMS instrument, for the first time. Spectra were recorded at temperatures varying from 300 to 215 K, pressures from 1000 to 33 mb and using three different path lengths (10.164, 6.164 and 2.164 m). The spectra were then modelled using a series of increasingly complex physically based transmittance functions.  相似文献
