Ultramafic rocks around the city of Muğla in SW Turkey are represented by mantle peridotites depleted to various degrees,
ranging from cpx-rich harzburgites to depleted harzburgite and dunite. Cpx-rich harzburgites are thought to be the residua
left after extraction of MORB-type basalt, from which high-Al chromitite [49.2 < Cr# = 100 × Cr/(Cr + Al) < 53.5] crystallised
with a higher proportion of 187Os/ 188Os (average of 0.1361). However, depleted harzburgites are assumed to be the residua left after extraction of hydrous boninitic
melt produced by second stage partial melting of already depleted mantle due to a subducting slab, from which high-Cr chromitites
(64.2 < Cr# < 85.9) with lower and heterogeneous 187Os/ 188Os ratio (average of 0.1324) were crystallised as a result of melt–rock interaction in a supra-subduction environment. Dunites
around the chromite deposits are considered to be the product of melt–peridotite interaction. Most of the chromitites contain
high-Cr chromite and display enrichment in IPGE (Os, Ir, Ru) over PPGE (Rh, Pt, Pd), with PGE concentrations between 61 and
1,305 ppb. Consistently, laurite-erlichmanite series minerals with various Os concentrations are found to be the most abundant
PGM inclusions in chromite. Os–Ir–Ru alloy, irarsite, and kashinite, as well as Pt–Fe alloy and Pt-oxide, which are not common
in ophiolitic chromitites, were also detected as magmatic PGM inclusions. Pentlandite, millerite, and, rarely heazlewoodite
form the magmatic inclusions of base-metal sulphide. The presence of olivine and clinopyroxene, as well as hydrous silicate
inclusions such as amphibole and phlogopite, in high-Cr chromitite supports the idea that high-Cr chromitites were formed
in a supra-subduction environment. 相似文献

Chromitite pods in the Mayarí-Cristal ophiolitic massif (eastern Cuba) were formed in the Late Cretaceous when island arc
tholeiites and MORB-like back-arc basin basalts reacted with residual mantle peridotites and generated chromite-rich bodies
enclosed in dunite envelopes. Platinum-group minerals (PGM) in the podiform chromitites exhibit important Os-isotope heterogeneities
at the kilometric, hand sample and thin section scales. 187Os/ 188Os calculated at the time of chromitite crystallization (~90 Ma) ranges between 0.1185 and 0.1295 (γOs = −7.1 to +1.6, relative
to enstatite chondrite), and all but one PGM have subchondritic 187Os/ 188Os. Grains in a single hand sample have initial 187Os/ 188Os that spans from 0.1185 to 0.1274, and in one thin section it varies between 0.1185 and 0.1232 in two PGM included in chromite
which are only several millimeters apart. As the Os budget of a single micrometric grain derives from a mantle region that
was at least several m 3 in size, the variable Os isotopic composition of PGM in the Mayarí-Cristal chromitites probably reflects the heterogeneity
of their mantle sources on the 10–100 m scale. Our results show that this heterogeneity was not erased by pooling and mingling
of individual melt batches during chromitite crystallization but was transferred to the ore deposits on mineral scale. The
distribution of the Os model ages calculated for PGM shows four main peaks, at ~100, 500, 750 and 1,000 Ma. These variable
Os model ages reflect the presence of different depleted domains in the oceanic (Pacific-related) upper mantle of the Greater
Antilles paleo-subduction zone. The concordance between the age of crystallization of the Mayarí-Cristal chromitites and the
most recent peak of the Os model age distribution in PGM supports that Os in several grains was derived from fertile domains
of the upper mantle, whose bulk Os isotopic composition is best approximated by that of enstatite chondrites; on the other
hand, most PGM are crystallized by melts that tapped highly refractory mantle sources. 相似文献

An undated high-pressure low-temperature tectonic mélange in the Elekda area (central Pontides, N Turkey) comprises blocks of MORB-derived lawsonite eclogite within a sheared serpentinite matrix. In their outer shells, some of the eclogite blocks contain large (up to 6 cm) tourmaline crystals. Prograde inclusions in poikiloblastic garnet from a well-preserved eclogite block are lawsonite, epidote/clinozoisite, omphacite, rutile, glaucophane, chlorite, Ba-bearing phengite, minor actinolite, winchite and quartz. In addition, glaucophane, lawsonite and rutile occur as inclusions in omphacite. These inclusion assemblages document the transition from a garnet-lawsonite-epidote-bearing blueschist to a lawsonite eclogite with the peak assemblage garnet + omphacite I + lawsonite + rutile. Peak metamorphic conditions are not well-constrained but are estimated approximately 400–430°C and >1.35 GPa, based on Fe–Mg exchange between garnet and omphacite and the coexistence of lawsonite + omphacite + rutile. During exhumation of the eclogite–serpentinite mélange in the hanging wall of a subduction system, infiltration of B-rich aqueous fluids into the rims of eclogite blocks caused retrogressive formation of abundant chlorite, titanite and albite, followed by growth of tourmaline at the expense of chlorite. At the same time, omphacite I ( XJd=0.24–0.44) became unstable and partially replaced by omphacite II characterized by higher XJd (0.35–0.48), suggesting a relatively low silica activity in the infiltrating fluid. Apart from Fe-rich rims developed at the contact to chlorite, tourmaline crystals are nearly homogeneous. Their compositions correspond to Na-rich dravite, perhaps with a small amount of excess (tetrahedral) boron (~5.90 Si and 3.10 B cations per 31 anions). 11 B values range from –2.2 to +1.7. The infiltrating fluids were most probably derived from subducting altered oceanic crust and sediments. 相似文献

The podiform chromite deposit of the Soghan mafic–ultramafic complex is one of the largest chromite deposits in south-east Iran (Esfandagheh area). The Soghan complex is composed mainly of dunite, harzburgite, lherzolite, pyroxenite, chromitite, wehrlite and gabbro. Olivine, orthopyroxene, and to a lesser extent clinopyroxene with highly refractory nature, are the primary silicates found in the harzburgites and dunites. The forsterite content of olivine is slightly higher in dunites (Fo 94) than those in harzburgites (Fo 92) and lherzolites (Fo 89). Chromian spinel mainly occurs as massive chromitite pods and as thin massive chromitite bands together with minor disseminations in dunites and harzburgites. Chromian spinels in massive chromitites show very high Cr-numbers (80–83.6), Mg-numbers (62–69) and very low TiO 2 content (averaging 0.17 wt.%) for which may reflect the crystallization of chromite from a boninitic magma. The Fe 3 +-number is very low, down to < 0.04 wt.%, in the chromian spinel of chromitites and associated peridotites of the Soghan complex.PGE contents are variable and range from 80 to 153 pbb. Chromitites have strongly fractionated chondrite-normalized PGE patterns, which are characterized by enrichments in Os, Ir and Rh relative to Pt and Pd. Moreover, the Pd/Ir value which is an indicator of PGE fractionation ranges from < 0.08 to 0.24 in chromitite of the Soghan complex. These patterns and the low PGE abundances are typical of ophiolitic chromitites and indicating a high degree of partial melting (about 20–24%) of the mantle source. Moreover, the Pd N/Ir N ratios in dunites are unfractionated, averaging 1.2, whereas the harzburgites and lherzolites show slightly positive slopes PGE spidergrams, together with a small positive Ru and Pd anomaly, and their Pd N/Ir N ratio averages 1.98 and 2.15 respectively. The mineral chemistry data and PGE geochemistry, along with the calculated parental melts in equilibrium with chromian spinel of the Soghan chromitites indicate that the Soghan complex was generated from an arc-related magma with boninitic affinity above a supra-subduction zone setting. 相似文献

The U–Pb (SHRIMP) dating of zircon from the layered complex of ophiolitic gabbro in the Klyuchevsk massif yielded an age of 456 ± 6 Ma corresponding within the limits of error to zircon dates obtained for other petrographic varieties from this massif. The investigation of the composition of silicate inclusions in dated zircon grains revealed that they are represented by typical metamorphic minerals: albite, zoisite, and secondary amphiboles. The data indicate that zircon was crystallized during metamorphic transformations of gabbroids and its U–Pb age (Late Ordovician–Silurian) is characteristic of all rocks in the ophiolite association of the Klyuchevsk massif indicating the age of metamorphism, not their formation time. 相似文献

Western Anatolia (Turkey) is a region of widespread active N-S continental extension that forms the eastern part of the Aegean extensional province. The extension in the region is expressed by two distinct/different structural styles, separated by a short-term gap: (1) rapid exhumation of metamorphic core complexes along presently low-angle ductile-brittle normal faults commenced by the latest Oligocene-Early Miocene period, and; (2) late stretching of crust and, consequent graben evolution along Plio-Quaternary high-angle normal faults, cross-cutting the pre-existing low-angle normal faults. However, current understanding of the processes (tectonic quiescence vs N-S continental compression) operating during the short-time interval is incomplete. This paper therefore reports the results of recent field mapping and structural analysis from the NE of Küçük Menderes Graben—Kiraz Basin—that shed lights on the processes operating during this short-time interval. The data includes the thrusting of metamorphic rocks of the Menderes Massif over the Mio-Pliocene sediments along WNW-ESE-trending high-angle reverse fault and the development of compressional fabrics in the metamorphic rocks of the Menderes Massif. There, the metamorphic rocks display evidence for four distinct phases of deformation: (1) southfacing top-N ductile fabrics developed at relatively high-grade metamorphic conditions, possibly during the Eocene main Menderes metamorphism (amphibolite facies) associated with top-N thrust tectonics (D 1); (2) top-S and top-N ductile gentle-moderatley south-dipping extensional fabrics formed at relatively lower-grade metamorphic (possibly greenschist facies) conditions associated with the exhumation of Menderes Massif along presently low-angle normal fault plane that accompanied the first phase of extension (D 2); (3) moderately north-dipping top-S ductile-brittle fabrics, present configuration of which suggest a thrust-related compression (D 3); and (4) south-facing approximately E-W-trending brittle high-angle normal faults (D 4) that form the youngest structures in the region. It is interpreted that D 4 faults are time equivalent of graben-bounding major high-angle normal faults and they correspond to the second phase of extension in western Anatolia. The presence of thrust-related D 3 compressional fabrics suggests N-S compression during the time interval between the two phases of extension (D 2 and D 4). The results of the present study therefore support the episodic, two-stage extension model in western Anatolia and confirm that a short-time, intervening N-S compression separated the two distinct phases. 相似文献

Linking of normal faults forms at all scales as a relay ramp during growth stages and represents the most efficient way for faults to lengthen during their progressive formation. Here, I study the linking of normal faulting along the active K?rka?aç Fault Zone within the west Anatolian extensional system to reconstruct fault interaction in time and space using both field- and computer-based data. I find that (i) connecting of the relay zone/ramp occurred with two breaching faults of different generations and that (ii) the propagation was facilitated by the presence of pre-existing structures, inherited from the ?zmir-Bal?kesir transfer zone. Hence, the linkage cannot be compared directly to a simple fault growth model. Therefore, I propose a combined scenario of both hangingwall and footwall fault propagation mechanisms that explain the present-day geometry of the composite fault line. The computer-based analyses show that the approximate slip rate is 0.38 mm/year during the Quaternary, and a NE–SW-directed extension is mainly responsible for the recent faulting along the K?rka?aç Fault Zone. The proposed structural scenario also highlights the active fault termination and should be considered in future seismic hazard assessments for the region that includes densely populated settlements. 相似文献

Granitoids of the Ekecikda? Igneous Association (Central Anatolia/Turkey) are products of collisional–post-collisional magmatism in the Ekecikda? area. These granitoids are granodiorite, microgranite and leucogranite. Field relations of granodiorites with microgranites is obscured, but leucogranites intrude both rock types. Mean zircon laser ablation (LA)-ICP-MS 206Pb- 238U ages of granodiorites and microgranites are 84.52 ± 0.93 Ma and 80.7 ± 1.6 Ma, respectively, and age of leucogranites is suggested as 80 Ma, based on field relations combined with 206Pb/ 238U and Rb-Sr ages. Crystallisation temperatures of granodiorites, microgranites and leucogranites are 728°C-848°C, 797°C-880°C, 704°C-809°C, respectively. Geochemical characteristics including Sr-Nd isotopic evidences infer a non-cogenetic character, as there is a high crustal contribution in I-type granodiorite sources, a crustal source with insignificant and significant mantle inputs in S-type microgranites and leucogranites, respectively. LA-ICP-MS Lu-Hf isotope data from zircons reveal their crustal nature (εHf(t): ?1.3 ± 0.5 to ?8.8 ± 0.5). Crustal melting linked to the Alpine thickening during the Late Cretaceous led to formation of heterogeneous sourced granitoids with crustal dominated sources in the Ekecikda? area. Understanding of the nature and evolution of collisional Ekecikda? granitoids is not only important to put contribution in the geodynamic evolution of Central Anatolia and surrounding Alpine area, but also to better understand systematics of collisional magmatic systems. 相似文献

NW Turkey is a mosaic of several continental and oceanic units, that were amalgamated by collisional and strike–slip tectonics.
One of the continental units is the İstanbul terrane, the Palaeozoic strata of which comprise an Early Ordovician to Early
Carboniferous transgressive sedimentary sequence. The basement to the Palaeozoic succession is exposed in the Bolu Massif
and is represented by a thick meta-volcanic unit intruded by Late Neoproterozoic (ca. 575 Ma) felsic magma. This meta-igneous
basement is considered to be a sliver of the Cadomian magmatic arc. Unconformably overlying Early Ordovician strata start
with red fluvial clastics (ca. 3,000 m), overlain by shallow marine quartzites (<250 m). Detrital zircons were separated from
an Ordovician quartzite sample located 5 m above the contact with the underlying red fluvial clastics. We have dated a total
of 99 zircon grains by U–Pb method using laser ablation-sector field-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (LA-SF-ICP-MS).
The ages (97% are >90% concordant) range from 530 to 2550 Ma. The dominance (44 grains) of Neoproterozoic zircon ages (around
540, 570, 600–640 and 700–800 Ma) rules out any link of the İstanbul terrane with Baltica. The large amount (40 grains) of
Grenvillian and Meso- to Palaeo-proterozoic ages (around 1.0–1.2, 1.3–1.6, 1.7–1.8, and 1.9–2.1 Ga) in the zircon population
further rules out a link to Cadomian and Minoan terranes, but is indicative for Amazonian source areas. The new age data suggest
the İstanbul terrane to be a peri-Gondwanan terrane that was located at the northwestern margin of Gondwana close to Amazonia.
This terrane should have travelled a large distance in the Phanerozoic times. 相似文献

We present results of study of the trace-element and Lu–Hf isotope compositions of zircons from Paleoproterozoic high-grade metasedimentary rocks (paragneisses) of the southwestern margin of the Siberian craton (Irkut terrane of the Sharyzhalgai uplift). Metamorphic zircons are represented by rims and multifaceted crystals dated at ~ 1.85 Ga. They are depleted in either LREE or HREE as a result of subsolidus recrystallization and/or synchronous formation with REE-concentrating garnet or monazite. In contrast to the metamorphic zircons, the detrital cores are enriched in HREE and have high (Lu/Gd) n ratios, which is typical of igneous zircon. The weak positive correlation between 176Lu/ 177Hf and 176Hf/ 177Hf in the zircon cores evidences that their Hf isotope composition evolved through radioactive decay in Hf = the closed system. Therefore, the isotope parameters of these zircons can give an insight into the provenance of metasedimentary rocks. The Paleoproterozoic detrital zircon cores from paragneisses, dated at ~ 2.3–2.4 and 2.0–1.95 Ga, are characterized by a wide range of ε Hf values (from + 9.8 to –3.3) and model age T C 2.8–2.0 Ga. The provenance of these detrital zircons included both rocks with juvenile isotope Hf parameters and rocks resulted from the recycling of the Archean crust with a varying contribution of juvenile material. Zircons with high positive ε Hf values were derived from the juvenile Paleoproterozoic crustal sources, whereas the lower ε Hf and higher T C values for zircons suggest the contribution of the Archean crustal source to the formation of their magmatic precursors. Thus, at the Paleoproterozoic stage of evolution of the southwestern margin of the Siberian craton, both crustal recycling and crustal growth through the contribution of juvenile material took place. On the southwestern margin of the Siberian craton, detrital zircons with ages of ~ 2.3–2.4 and 1.95–2.0 Ga are widespread in Paleoproterozoic paragneisses of the Irkut and Angara–Kan terranes and in terrigenous rocks of the Urik–Iya graben, which argues for their common and, most likely, proximal provenances. In the time of metamorphism (1.88–1.85 Ga), the age of Paleoproterozoic detrital zircons (2.4–2.0 Ga), and their Lu–Hf isotope composition (ε Hf values ranging from positive to negative values) the paragneisses of the southwestern margin of the Siberian craton are similar to the metasedimentary rocks of the Paleoproterozoic orogenic belts of the North China Craton. In the above two regions, the sources of detrital zircons formed by both the reworking of the Archean crust and the contribution of juvenile material, which is evidence for the crustal growth in the period 2.4–2.0 Ga. 相似文献

Electron spin resonance (ESR) and 230Th/ 234U ages of speleothem samples collected from karstic caves located around 3000 m elevation in the Alada?lar Mountain Range (AMR), south-central Turkey, were determined in order to provide new insight and information regarding late Pleistocene climate. ESR ages were validated with the 230Th/ 234U ages of test samples. The ESR ages of 21 different layers of six speleothem samples were found to range mostly between about 59 and 4 ka, which cover the Marine Oxygen Isotope Stages (MIS) MIS 3 to MIS 1. Among all, only six layers appear to have deposited during MIS 8 and 5. Most of the samples dated were deposited during the late glacial stage (MIS 2). It appears that a cooler climate with a perennial and steady recharge was more conducive to speleothem development rather than a warmer climate with seasonal recharge in the AMR during the late Quaternary. This argument supports previous findings that suggest a two -fold increase in last glacial maximum mean precipitation in Turkey with respect to the present value. 相似文献

The Diyadin Geothermal area, located in the eastern part of Anatolia (Turkey) where there has been recent volcanic activity, is favorable for the formation of geothermal systems. Indeed, the Diyadin geothermal system is located in an active geodynamic zone, where strike-slip faults and tensional cracks have developed due to N–S regional compression. The area is characterized by closely spaced thermal and mineralized springs, with temperatures in the range 30–64 °C, and flowrates 0.5–10 L/s. Thermal spring waters are mainly of Ca(Na)-HCO 3 and Ca(Mg)-SO 4 types, with high salinity, while cold groundwater is mostly of Ca(Na, Mg)-HCO 3 type, with lower salinity. High contents of some minor elements in thermal waters, such as F, B, Li, Rb, Sr and Cs probably derive from enhanced water–rock interaction.Thermal water samples collected from Diyadin are far from chemical equilibrium as the waters flow upward from reservoirs towards spring vents and possibly mix with cooler waters. The temperatures of the deep geothermal reservoirs are estimated to be between 92 and 156 °C in Diyadin field, based on quartz geothermometry, while slightly lower estimates are obtained using chalcedony geothermometers. The isotopic composition of thermal water (δ 18O, δ 2H, δ 3H) indicates their deep-circulating meteoric origin. The waters are likely to have originated from the percolation of rainwater along fractures and faults to the deep hot reservoir. Subsequent heating by conduction due to the presence of an intrusive cupola associated with the Tendurek volcano, is followed by the ascent of deep waters to the surface along faults and fractures that act as hydrothermal conduits.Modeling of the geothermal fluids indicates that the fluid is oversaturated with calcite, aragonite and dolomite, which matches travertine precipitation in the discharge area. Likewise, the fluid is oversaturated with respect to quartz, and chalcedony indicating the possibility of siliceous precipitation near the discharge areas. A conceptual hydro-geochemical model of the Diyadin thermal waters based on the isotope and chemical analytical results, has been constructed. 相似文献

The Hamamboğazi spa in western Turkey was built around natural hot springs with discharge temperatures in the range of 30–54°C;
the waters have near neutral pH values of 6.50–7.10 and a TDS content between 2,694 and 2,982 mg/l. Thermal water with a temperature
of 47.5–73°C has been produced at 325 l/s from five wells since 1994, causing some springs to go dry. A management plan is
required in the study area to maximize the benefits of this resource, for which currently proposed direct uses include heating
in the district and greenhouses, as well as balneology in new spas in the area. The best use for the water from each spring
or well will depend on its temperature, chemistry and location. The thermal waters are mixed Na–Mg–HCO 3–SO 4 fluids that contain a significant amount of CO 2 gas. The chemical geothermometers applied to the Hamamboğazi thermal waters yield a maximum reservoir temperature of 130°C.
Isotope results ( 18O, 2H, 3H) indicate that the thermal waters have a meteoric origin: rainwater percolates downward along fractures and faults, is heated
at depth, and then rises to the surface along fractures and faults that act as a hydrothermal conduit. The basement around
the Banaz Hamamboğazi resort is comprised of Paleozoic metamorphic schist and marbles exposed 8 km south and 15 km north of
Banaz. Mesozoic marble, limestone and ophiolitic complex are observed a few km west and in the northern part of Banaz. These
units were cut at a depth of 350–480 m in boreholes drilled in the area. Overlying lacustrine deposits are composed of fine
clastic units that alternate with gypsum, tuff and tuffites of 200–350 m thickness. The marble and limestones form the thermal
water aquifer, while lacustrine deposits form the impermeable cap. 相似文献

The Jinbaoshan Pt–Pd deposit in Yunnan, SW China, is hosted in a wehrlite body, which is a member of the Permian (∼260 Ma)
Emeishan Large Igneous Province (ELIP). The deposit is reported to contain one million tonnes of Pt–Pd ore grading 0.21% Ni
and 0.16% Cu with 3.0 g/t (Pd + Pt). Platinum-group minerals (PGM) mostly are ∼10 μm in diameter, and are commonly Te-, Sn-
and As-bearing, including moncheite (PtTe 2), atokite (Pd 3Sn), kotulskite (PdTe), sperrylite (PtAs 2), irarsite (IrAsS), cooperite (PtS), sudburyite (PdSb), and Pt–Fe alloy. Primary rock-forming minerals are olivine and clinopyroxene,
with clinopyroxene forming anhedral poikilitic crystals surrounding olivine. Primary chromite occurs either as euhedral grains
enclosed within olivine or as an interstitial phase to the olivine. However, the intrusion has undergone extensive hydrothermal
alteration. Most olivine grains have been altered to serpentine, and interstitial clinopyroxene is often altered to actinolite/tremolite
and locally biotite. Interstitial chromite grains are either partially or totally replaced by secondary magnetite. Base-metal
sulfides (BMS), such as pentlandite and chalcopyrite, are usually interstitial to the altered olivine. PGM are located with
the BMS and are therefore also interstitial to the serpentinized olivine grains, occurring within altered interstitial clinopyroxene
and chromite, or along the edges of these minerals, which predominantly altered to actinolite/tremolite, serpentine and magnetite.
Hydrothermal fluids were responsible for the release of the platinum-group elements (PGE) from the BMS to precipitate the
PGM at low temperature during pervasive alteration. A sequence of alteration of the PGM has been recognized. Initially moncheite
and atokite have been corroded and recrystallized during the formation of actinolite/tremolite, and then, cooperite and moncheite
were altered to Pt–Fe alloy where they are in contact with serpentine. Sudburyite occurs in veins indicating late Pd mobility.
However, textural evidence shows that the PGM are still in close proximity to the BMS. They occur in PGE-rich layers located
at specific igneous horizons in the intrusion, suggesting that PGE were originally magmatic concentrations that, within a
PGE-rich horizon, crystallized with BMS late in the olivine/clinopyroxene crystallization sequence and have not been significantly
transported during serpentinization and alteration. 相似文献
