Nickel partitioning between forsterite and aluminosilicate melt of fixed bulk composition has been determined at 1300°C to 20 kbar pressure. The value of the forsterite-liquid nickel partition coefficient is lowered from >20 at pressures equal to or less than 15 kbar to <10 at pressures above 15 kbar.Published data indicate that melts on the join Na2O-Al2O3-SiO2 become depolymerized in the pressure range 10–20 kbar as a result of Al shifting from four-coordination at low pressure to higher coordination as the pressure is increased. This coordination shift results in a decreasing number of bridging oxygens in the melt. It is suggested that the activity coefficient of nickel decreases with this decrease in the number of bridging oxygens. As a result, the nickel partition coefficient for olivine and liquid is lowered.Magma genesis in the upper mantle occurs in the pressure range where the suggested change in aluminum coordination occurs in silicate melts. It is suggested, therefore, that data on nickel partitioning obtained at low pressure are not applicable to calculation of the nickel distribution between crystals and melts during partial melting in the upper mantle. Application of high-pressure experimental data determined here for Al-rich melts to the partial melting process indicates that the melts would contain about twice as much nickel as indicated by the data for the low-pressure experiments. If, as suggested here, the polymerization with pressure is related to the Al content of the melt, the difference in the crystal-liquid partition coefficient for nickel at low and high pressure is reduced with decreasing Al content of the melt. Consequently, the change ofDNiol-andesite melt is greater than that ofDNiol-basalt melt, for example.  相似文献

The anionic structure of magmatic liquids has been estimated at 1 atm and at pressures corresponding to those of the upper mantle. These estimates are based predominantly on spectroscopic data on binary metal oxide-silica and ternary metal oxide-silica-alumina melts. Structural information on melt compositions in aluminate-silica joins has been used to provide detailed information on the role of Al3+ in natural magma at atmospheric and high pressure.Regardless of pressure, andesitic melts may be described as combinations of chain, sheet, and three-dimensional network units. Nearly all Al3+ in the magmatic liquid resides in the three-dimensional network units. This Al3+ is locally charge-balanced with Na+, K+, Ca2+, and Mg2+. In the latter two cases, Al3+ and Si4+ are ordered, whereas for Na+ and K+, Si4+ and Al3+ are randomly mixed. Solution of water in natural magma results in the formation of new nonbridging oxygens in addition to OH groups attached to Si4+ and metal cations. On the basis of determined solution mechanisms of CO2 and H2O in silicate melts, thermodynamic properties of HO+CO2, fluids and hydrous silicate melts and melting phase relations in peridotite-H2O-CO2, systems, it is found that natural andesitic magma in equilibrium with spinel Iherzolite in the upper mantle (10–20 kbar) must contain at least 5–7 wt.% H2O. Andesitic magma with 5–7 wt.% H2O in solution may be described as a mixture of Al-free three-dimensional units, sheets, and chains with a small proportion (less than 10%) of monomers.  相似文献

CO2 fluid inclusions in mantle minerals are an im-portant source for us to get the information of mantle fluids. Fluid inclusions are mainly composed of CO2, with minor CO, H2O, CH4, N2, H2S, SO2, F, etc., which were demonstrated by lots of Raman spec-trometer analyses in recent years. In contrast, there are very few researches on CO2-bearing melt inclusions since it is more difficult to do so. The available studies have found that the primary CO2-bearing melt inclu-sions are basaltic …  相似文献

High pressure experiments using the sink/float method have bracketed the density of hydrous iron-rich ultrabasic silicate melt from 1.35 to 10.0 GPa at temperatures from 1400 to 1860 °C. The silicate melt composition was a 50–50 mixture of natural komatiite and synthetic fayalite. Water was added in the form of brucite Mg(OH)2 and was present in the experimental run products at 2 wt.% and 5 wt.% levels as confirmed by microprobe analyses of total oxygen. Buoyancy marker spheres were olivines and garnets of known composition and density. The density of the silicate melt with 5 wt.% water at 2 GPa and 1500 °C is 0.192 g cm? 3 less than the anhydrous form of this melt at the same P and T. This density difference gives a partial molar volume of water in silicate melt of ~ 7 cm3 mol? 1, which is similar to previous studies at high pressure. The komatiite–fayalite liquids with 0 and 2 wt.% H2O, have extrapolated density crossovers with equilibrium liquidus olivine at 8 and 9 GPa respectively, but there is no crossover for the liquid with 5 wt.% H2O. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that dense hydrous melts could be gravitationally stable atop the 410 km discontinuity in the Earth. The results also support the notion that equilibrium liquidus olivine could float in an FeO-rich hydrous martian magma ocean. Extrapolation of the data suggests that FeO-rich hydrous melt could be negatively buoyant in the Earth's D″-region or atop the core–mantle-boundary (CMB), although experiments at higher pressure are needed to confirm this prediction.  相似文献

Although the bulk moduli (KT0) of silicate melts have a relatively narrow range of values, the pressure derivatives of the isothermal bulk modulus (KT0) can assume a broad range of values and have an important influence on the compositional dependence of the melt compressibility at high pressure. Based on the melt density data from sink/float experiments at high pressures in the literature, we calculate KT0 using an isothermal equation of state (EOS) (e.g., Birch–Murnaghan EOS and Vinet EOS) with the previously determined values of room-pressure density (ρ0) and room-pressure bulk modulus (KT0). The results show that best estimates of KT0 vary considerably from ~ 3 to ~ 7 for different compositions. KT0 is nearly independent of Mg # (molar Mg/(Mg + Fe)), but decreases with SiO2 content. Hydrous melts have anomalously small KT0 leading to a high degree of compression at high pressures. For anhydrous melts, KT0 is ~ 7 for peridotitic melts, ~ 6 for picritic melts, ~ 5 for komatiitic melts, and ~ 4 for basaltic melts.  相似文献

Glass samples from alkali-trachytic pumice of the Lower Member (LM, level LM1) and Upper Member (UM) of the Neapolitan Yellow Tuff at Campi Flegrei Caldera were studied by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The EPR data show that the relative occupancy of the different iron sites varies in samples from the Lower Member LM1 and Upper Member of the eruptive sequence. The LM1 glasses are characterized by a more homogeneous distribution of the cationic site population of iron compared with UM and by a different Fe3+/Al3+ substitution in the C2v symmetrical sites of the silicate framework. 29Si MAS NMR spectra on glasses indicate that LM1 glasses are more depolymerized than UM glasses, indicating the existence of structurally distinct magma batches. 27Al MAS NMR spectra indicate the occurrence in UM glasses of aluminum in both tetrahedral and octahedral coordination; the observed AlVI is believed to be a primary feature of the glass, since 27Al CP-MAS NMR experiments do not reveal detectable esa-hydrated Al. The Al in sixfold coordination could be ascribed either to the more abundant alkali–OH terminations in UM, in which alkalies would be extracted from their charge-balance role for Al, thus altering its fourfold structural position, or to permanent compaction during fast cooling and decompression of high-pressure melts. 23Na CP-MAS NMR experiments indicate the existence of Na–OH groups in both LM1 and UM glasses, relatively more abundant in the latter. Although preliminary, the results indicate the possible application of atomic-scale studies to variables that determine the regimes of explosive volcanism. Viscosity of anhydrous albite melt, determined by the falling-sphere method in the solid-media, piston-cylinder apparatus, decreases with increasing pressure from 1.13 × 105 P at 1 atm to 1.8 × 104 P at 20 kbar at 1400°C. The rate of decrease in viscosity is larger between 12 and 15 kbar than in other pressure ranges examined. The density of the quenched albite melt increases with increasing pressure of quenching from 2.38 g/cm3 at 1 atm to 2.53 g/cm3 at 20 kbar. The rate of increase in density is largest at pressures between 15 and 20 kbar. The melting curve of albite shows an inflexion at about 16 kbar. These observations strongly suggest that structural changes of albite melt would take place effectively at pressures near 15 kbar. Melt of jadeite (NaAlSi2O6) composition shows very similar changes in viscosity and density and a melting curve inflexion at pressures near 10 kbar. Difference in pressure for the suggested effective structural changes of albite and jadeite melts is 5–6 kbar, which is nearly the same as that between the subsolidus reaction curves nepheline + albite= 2jadeite and albite=jadeite + quartz. The structural changes of the melts are, however, continuous and begin to take place at pressures lower than those of the crystalline phases.  相似文献

Temporal variation of runoff chemistry and its seasonal controls relating to chemical weathering processes and drainage system evolution were examined at Urumqi Glacier No.1 in Xinjiang, China, over a full melt season. The dominant ions in meltwater runoff are HCO3?, Ca2+, and SO42?; and Fe, Sr, and Al are dominant elements. Concentrations of major ions and some elements show periodic variations with seasons and negatively correlate with discharge, whereas other elements (e.g., Al, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb) show a random change, providing insights into the hydrological and physicochemical controls. HCO3? and Ca2+ are primarily derived from calcite, SO42? and Fe mainly come from pyrite, and Sr and Al principally originate from silicate. Hydrochemical fluxes of solutes exhibit strong seasonality but are positively related to discharge, suggesting an increasing release of solutes during higher flow conditions. Solute yields, cation denudation rate, and chemical weathering intensity observed at Urumqi Glacier No.1 are higher than those at most basins worldwide. This suggests that chemical weathering in central Asia may be stronger than at other glacial basins with similar specific discharge. Concentrations of some elements (e.g., Fe, Al, As, Pb, and Zn) are close to or exceed the guidelines for drinking water standards in meltwater‐fed rivers. These rivers may face future challenges of water quality degradation, and relationships between changing flow and water quality conditions should be established soon, given that development of channelized flow is expected to be earlier over a melt season in a warming climate.  相似文献

Ultrasonic compressional wave velocity Vp and quality factor Qp have been measured in alkali basalt, olivine basalt and basic andesite melts in the frequency range of 3.4–22 MHz and in the temperature range of 1100–1400°C. Velocity and attenuation of the melts depend on frequency and temperature, showing that there are relaxation mechanisms in the melts. Complex moduli are calculated from the ultrasonic data. The results fit well a complex modulus of Arrhenius temperature dependence with log-normal Gaussian distribution in relaxation times of attenuation. The analysis yields average relaxation time, its activation energy, relaxed modulus, unrelaxed modulus and width of Gaussian distribution in relaxation times. Relaxed modulus is smaller (17.5 GPa) for basic andesite melt of high silica and high alumina contents than for the other two basalt melts (18.1–18.4 GPa). The most probable relaxation times decrease from ~ 3 × 10?10 s for basic andesite to ~ 10?11 s for alkali basalt at 1400°C. Activation energies of attenuation, ranging from 270 to 340 kJ mol?1 in the three melts, are highest in basic andesite. Longitudinal viscosity values and their temperature dependences are also calculated from Vp and Qp data. The volume viscosity values are estimated from the data using the shear viscosity values. Longitudinal, volume and shear viscosities and their activation energies are highest in the basic andesite melt of the most polymerized structure.  相似文献

An ion-microprobe-based technique has been used to measure lithium tracer-diffusion coefficients (DLi) in an alkali-basaltic melt at 1300, 1350 and 1400°C. The results can be expressed in the form:DLi=7.5 ×10?2exp(?27,600/RT)cm2S?1The results show significantly faster diffusion rates than those previously recorded for other monovalent, divalent and trivalent cations in a tholeiitic melt. Consequently, diffusive transport of ions acting over a given time in a basaltic melt can produce a wider range of transport distance values than hitherto supposed. Hence, it is concluded that great care should be exercised when applying diffusion data to petrological problems.  相似文献

The elastic moduli of a synthetic single crystal of pyrope (Mg3Al2Si3O12) have been determined using a technique based on Brillouin scattering. These results are used in an evaluation of the effect of composition on the elastic properties of silicate garnet solid solution series (Mg, Fe, Mn, Ca)3 (Al, Fe, Cr)2 Si3O12. In the pyralspites (Mg FeMn aluminum garnets), for which a large amount of data is available, this analysis indicates that the bulk modulus K is independent of the Fe2+/Mg2+ ratio, which is similar to the behavior observed in olivines and pyroxenes. However, the shear modulus μ of the garnets increases by 10% from the Mg to the Fe end member, in contrast to the decrease of μ with Fe content which is observed in olivines and pyroxenes. This contrasting behavior is most probably related to the oxygen coordination of the cation site occupied by Mg2+ and Fe2+ in these different minerals.  相似文献

Abundant fluid inclusions in olivine of dunite xenoliths (~1–3 cm) in basalt dredged from the young Loihi Seamount, 30 km southeast of Hawaii, are evidence for three coexisting immiscible fluid phases—silicate melt (now glass), sulfide melt (now solid), and dense supercritical CO2 (now liquid + gas)—during growth and later fracturing of some of these olivine crystals. Some olivine xenocrysts, probably from disaggregation of xenoliths, contain similar inclusions. Most of the inclusions (2–10 μm) are on secondary planes, trapped during healing of fractures after the original crystal growth. Some such planes end abruptly within single crystals and are termed pseudosecondary, because they formed during the growth of the host olivine crystals. The “vapor” bubble in a few large (20–60 μm), isolated, and hence primary, silicate melt inclusions is too large to be the result of simple differential shrinkage. Under correct viewing conditions, these bubbles are seen to consist of CO2 liquid and gas, with an aggregate ? = ~ 0.5–0.75 g cm?3, and represent trapped globules of dense supercritical CO2 (i.e., incipient “vesiculation” at depth). Some spinel crystals enclosed within olivine have attached CO2 blebs. Spherical sulfide blebs having widely variable volume ratios to CO2 and silicate glass are found in both primary and pseudosecondary inclusions, demonstrating that an immiscible sulfide melt was also present.Assuming olivine growth at ~ 1200°C and hydrostatic pressure from a liquid lava column, extrapolation of CO2P-V-T data indicates that the primary inclusions were trapped at ~ 220–470 MPa (2200–4700 bars), or ~ 8–17 km depth in basalt magma of ? = 2.7 g cm?3. Because the temperature cannot change much during the rise to eruption, the range of CO2 densities reveals the change in pressure from that during original olivine growth to later deformation and rise to eruption on the sea floor. The presence of numerous decrepitated inclusions indicates that the inclusion sample studied is biased by the loss of higher-density inclusions and suggests that some part of these olivine xenoliths formed at greater depths.  相似文献

High-resolution P wave tomography shows that the subducting Pacific slab is stagnant in the mantle transition zone and forms a big mantle wedge beneath eastern China. The Mg isotopic investigation of large numbers of mantle-derived volcanic rocks from eastern China has revealed that carbonates carried by the subducted slab have been recycled into the upper mantle and formed carbonated peridotite overlying the mantle transition zone, which becomes the sources of various basalts. These basalts display light Mg isotopic compositions(δ26 Mg = –0.60‰ to –0.30‰) and relatively low87 Sr/86 Sr ratios(0.70314–0.70564) with ages ranging from 106 Ma to Quaternary, suggesting that their mantle source had been hybridized by recycled magnesite with minor dolomite and their initial melting occurred at 300-360 km in depth. Therefore, the carbonate metasomatism of their mantle source should have occurred at the depth larger than 360 km, which means that the subducted slab should be stagnant in the mantle transition zone forming the big mantle wedge before 106 Ma. This timing supports the rollback model of subducting slab to form the big mantle wedge. Based on high P-T experiment results, when carbonated silicate melts produced by partial melting of carbonated peridotite was raising and reached the bottom(180–120 km in depth) of cratonic lithosphere in North China, the carbonated silicate melts should have 25–18 wt% CO2 contents, with lower Si O2 and Al2 O3 contents, and higher Ca O/Al2 O3 values, similar to those of nephelinites and basanites, and have higher εNdvalues(2 to 6). The carbonatited silicate melts migrated upward and metasomatized the overlying lithospheric mantle, resulting in carbonated peridotite in the bottom of continental lithosphere beneath eastern China. As the craton lithospheric geotherm intersects the solidus of carbonated peridotite at 130 km in depth, the carbonated peridotite in the bottom of cratonic lithosphere should be partially melted, thus its physical characters are similar to the asthenosphere and it could be easily replaced by convective mantle. The newly formed carbonated silicate melts will migrate upward and metasomatize the overlying lithospheric mantle. Similarly, such metasomatism and partial melting processes repeat, and as a result the cratonic lithosphere in North China would be thinning and the carbonated silicate partial melts will be transformed to high-Si O2 alkali basalts with lower εNdvalues(to-2). As the lithospheric thinning goes on,initial melting depth of carbonated peridotite must decrease from 130 km to close 70 km, because the craton geotherm changed to approach oceanic lithosphere geotherm along with lithospheric thinning of the North China craton. Consequently, the interaction between carbonated silicate melt and cratonic lithosphere is a possible mechanism for lithosphere thinning of the North China craton during the late Cretaceous and Cenozoic. Based on the age statistics of low δ26 Mg basalts in eastern China, the lithospheric thinning processes caused by carbonated metasomatism and partial melting in eastern China are limited in a timespan from 106 to25 Ma, but increased quickly after 25 Ma. Therefore, there are two peak times for the lithospheric thinning of the North China craton: the first peak in 135-115 Ma simultaneously with the cratonic destruction, and the second peak caused by interaction between carbonated silicate melt and lithosphere mainly after 25 Ma. The later decreased the lithospheric thickness to about70 km in the eastern part of North China craton.  相似文献

The experiments in the model system CaMgSi2O6–(Na2CO3, CaCO3)–KCl are performed at 5 GPa and 1400–1600 °C in order to study the phase relations, including liquid immiscibility, in the chloride–carbonate–silicate systems with application to alkali and chlorine-rich liquids preserved in kimberlitic diamonds. Experiments in the boundary joins of the system demonstrated that both the carbonate–silicate and chloride–carbonate melts are homogeneous; while high-temperature (above 1800 °C) liquid immiscibility is assumed for the chloride–silicate join of the above system. Addition of silicate component into the chloride–carbonate melts and chloride component into the carbonate–silicate melts results in splitting of the homogeneous liquids into the immiscible chloride–carbonate brine and carbonate–silicate melt. Carbonate–silicate and chloride–carbonate branches of the miscibility gap converge within the carbonate-rich region of the system. Regular temperature evolution of the shape and size of the miscibility gap is deduced. With decreasing temperature, the convergence point moves toward more Si-rich compositions, expanding fields of homogeneous chloride–carbonate silica-saturated melts. This effect is governed by the precipitation of the silicate phases even from silica-bearing chloride–carbonate melts. In addition, experiments revealed regular evolution of both Cl-bearing carbonate–silicate melt and Si-bearing chloride–carbonate brine toward the low-temperature chlorine–bearing carbonatitic liquid with decreasing temperature. These trends are similar to the evolution of the melt and brine inclusions in some diamonds from Botswana, Brazil, Canada, and Yakutia, indicating their growth during cooling. The model for interaction of the chloride–carbonate brine with the mantle rocks is developed on the basis of the present experimental data. This model is applied to the chlorine-enriched kimberlites of the Udachnaya–East pipe.  相似文献

Sixteen sets of apatite/liquid partition coefficients (Dap/liq) for the rare earth elements (REE; La, Sm, Dy, Lu) and six values for Sr were experimentally determined in natural systems ranging from basanite to granite. The apatite + melt (glass) assemblages were obtained from starting glasses artificially enriched in REE, Sr and fluorapatite components; these were run under dry and hydrous conditions of 7.5–20 kbar and 950–1120°C in a solid-media, piston-cylinder apparatus. An SEM-equipped electron microprobe was used for subsequent measurement of REE and Sr concentrations in coexisting apatites and quenched glasses. The resulting partition coefficient patterns resemble previously determined apatite phenocryst/groundmass concentration ratios in the following respects: (1) the rare earth patterns are uniformly concave downward (i.e., the middle REE are more compatible in apatite than the light and heavy REE); (2) DREEap/liq is much higher for silicic melts than for basic ones; and (3) strontium (and therefore Eu2+) is less concentrated by apatite than are the trivalent REE. The effects of both temperature and melt composition on DREEap/liq are systematic and pronounced. At 950°C, for example, a change in melt SiO2 content from 50 to 68 wt.% causes the average REE partition coefficient to increase from ~7 to ~30. A 130°C increase in temperature, on the other hand, results in a two-fold decrease in DREEap/liq. Partitioning of Sr is insenstitive to changes in melt composition and temperature, and neither the Sr nor the REE partition coefficients appear to be affected by variations in pressure or H2O content of the melt. The experimentally determined partition coefficients can be used not only in trace element modelling, but also to distinguish apatite phenocrysts from xenocrysts in rocks. Reported apatite megacryst/host basalt REE concentration ratios [12], for example, are considerably higher than the equilibrium partition coefficients, which suggest that in this particular case the apatite is actually xenocrystic.A reversal experiment incorporated in our study yielded diffusion profiles of REE in apatite, from which we extracted a REEαCa interdiffusion coefficient of 2–4×10?14 cm2/s at 1120°C. Extrapolated downward to crustal temperatures, this low value suggests that complete REE equilibrium between felsic partial melts and residual apatite is rarely established.  相似文献

The combination of magnetotelluric survey and laboratory measurements of electrical conductivity is a powerful approach for exploring the conditions of Earth’s deep interior. Electrical conductivity of hydrous silicate melts and aqueous fluids is sensitive to composition, temperature, and pressure, making it useful for understanding partial melting and fluid activity at great depths. This study presents a review on the experimental studies of electrical conductivity of silicate melts and aqueous fluids, and introduces some important applications of experimental results. For silicate melts, electrical conductivity increases with increasing temperature but decreases with pressure. With a similar Na+ concentration, along the calc-alkaline series electrical conductivity generally increases from basaltic to rhyolitic melt, accompanied by a decreasing activation enthalpy. Electrical conductivity of silicate melts is strongly enhanced with the incorporation of water due to promoted cation mobility. For aqueous fluids, research is focused on dilute electrolyte solutions. Electrical conductivity typically first increases and then decreases with increasing temperature, and increases with pressure before approaching a plateau value. The dissociation constant of electrolyte can be derived from conductivity data. To develop generally applicable quantitative models of electrical conductivity of melt/fluid addressing the dependences on temperature, pressure, and composition, it requires more electrical conductivity measurements of representative systems to be implemented in an extensive P-T range using up-to-date methods.  相似文献

Aluminum incorporation into the high pressure polymorph of TiO2 with the structure of α-PbO2 has been studied from 10 to 20 GPa and 1300 °C by XRD, high-resolution 27Al MAS-NMR and TEM. Al-doped α-PbO2 type TiO2 can be recovered at atmospheric pressure. Al2O3 solubility in α-PbO2 type TiO2 increases with increasing the synthesis pressure. The α-PbO2 type TiO2 polymorph is able to incorporate up to 35 wt.% Al2O3 at 13.6 GPa and 1300 °C, being the substitution of Ti4+ by Al3+ on normal octahedral sites the mechanism of solubility. The transition to the higher pressure TiO2 polymorph with the ZrO2 baddeleyite structure, Akaogiite, has not been observed in the quenched samples at room pressure. The microstructure of the recovered sample synthesized at 16 GPa and 1300 °C points to the existence of a non-quenchable aluminum titanium oxide phase at these conditions.  相似文献

FAMOUS basalt 527-1-1 (a high-Mg oceanic pillow basalt) has three generations of spinel which can be distinguished petrographically and chemically. The first generation (Group I) have reaction coronas and are high in Al2O3. The second generation (Group II) have no reaction coronas and are high in Cr2O3 and the third generation (Group III) are small, late-stage spinels with intermediate Al2O3 and Cr2O3. Experimental synthesis of spinels from fused rock powder of this basalt was carried out at temperatures of 1175–1270°C and oxygen fugacities of 10?5.5 to 10?10 atm at 1 atm pressure. Spinel is the liquidus phase at oxygen fugacities of 10?8.5 atm and higher but it does not crystallize at any temperature at oxygen fugacities less than 10?9.5. The composition of our spinels synthesized at 1230–1250°C and 10?9 atmfO2 are most similar to the high-Cr spinels (Group II) found in the rock. Spinels synthesized at 1200°C and 10?8.5 atmO2 are chemically similar to the Group III spinels in 527-1-1. We did not synthesize spinel at any temperature or oxygen fugacity that are similar to the high-Al (Group I) spinel found in 527-1-1. These results indicate that the high-Cr (Group II) spinel is the liquidus phase in 527-1-1 at low pressure and Group III spinel crystallize below the liquidus (~1200°C) after eruption of the basalt on the sea floor. The high-Al spinel (Group I) could have crystallized at high pressure or from a magma enriched in Al and perhaps Mg compared to 527-1-1.  相似文献

The concentration of rock-forming elements, the static magnetic susceptibility κ, spectra of electron paramagnetic resonance, and their relative intensities I are studied in samples from a borehole drilled in Cenozoic sedimentary deposits of southern Western Siberia. All measured values experience appreciable irregular variations with depth. A linear dependence exists between κ and I within the range of their medium and large values; κ and I have maximum values in the same sample, and κmax = 1920 × 10?6SI, κmin = 210 × 10?6 SI, and κav = 630 × 10?6 SI. The magnetic properties of the samples are controlled by Fe2+ ions present in clastic material and by microphases (clusters) with Fe3+ ions of the goethite and lepidocrocite type present in the cement. The theoretically possible magnetic susceptibility of the Fe2+ ion system (provided that all iron exists in this form) is quite comparable with κmin but, even with very high concentrations of Fe2+, does not reach half of κav: (154 < κ(Fe2+) < 254) × 10?6 SI. Anomalously high values of κ are due to a large number of clusters with Fe3+ ions if structural units FeOOH do not dissociate and the interaction of the clusters with hydroxides of aluminum and precipitation medium impedes the process of their coagulation. Otherwise, the cluster sizes gradually increase, an antiferromagnetic structure develops in clusters, and the magnetic susceptibility decreases.  相似文献

The textures of chondrules have been reproduced by crystallizing melts of three different compositions at 1 atm with cooling rates ranging from 400 to 20°C/min under 10?9 to 10?12 atmPO2. A porphyritic olivine texture has been formed from a melt of olivine-rich composition (SiO2 = 45 wt.%), a barred-olivine texture from melt of intermediate composition (SiO2 = 47 wt.%), and radial-olivine texture from melt of pyroxene-rich composition (SiO2 = 57 wt.%). The cooling rate for producing barred olivine is most restricted; the rate ranges from 120 to 50°C/min. Other textures can be formed with wider ranges of cooling rate. The results of the experiments indicate that some of the major types of textures of chondrules can be formed with cooling rate of about 100°C/min. With this cooling rate, the texture varies depending on the composition of melt.  相似文献
