In homogeneous half spaces excited by small buried, spherically symmetric P-wave sources, Rayleigh waves (R-waves) could be generated. The effects of the source depth on the induced wave pattern and propagation behavior of R-waves are analyzed using the thin layer method. When a cavity is present in a homogeneous half space, R-waves could be formed in the scattered wave field. It is found that the energy of R-waves in the incident (direct) surface wave-field is related to the ratio of the source depth to the wavelength of R-waves; R-waves have relatively strong energy when the ratio is less than 1; the buried source induced R-waves approximately travel at the velocity of the planar R-waves in the range of the offset beyond about one wavelength; the energy of R-waves in the back-scattered surface wave-field depends on the ratio of the depth of cavity to the wavelength of R-waves; and for the case of the cavity presented at depths less than one wavelength, R-waves can be clearly observed in the back-scattered wave field. The results are helpful for selecting the source depth and the frequency component in seismic surveys and interpreting both the incident wave and the scattered wave patterns.  相似文献

Field experiments were conducted to investigate the refraction and propagation of ocean waves across two coral reef platforms in the Maldives, central Indian Ocean. A total of seven pressure sensors were deployed on each reef to quantify temporal and spatial variations in wave characteristics across the platform surfaces. Directional wave properties were calculated from high frequency (2 Hz) wave and current records obtained at two locations on each reef and corroborate theoretically predicted propagation pathways derived from an analytical wave refraction model. Results demonstrate that reef geometry critically controls the refraction and propagation behaviour of incident swell across the reef structures. Differences in the magnitude of refraction (approximately 57° and 14°) observed on each reef can be attributed to variations in platform shape and orientation to incident waves. Results demonstrate that reef flat wave patterns define the segmentation of platform surfaces into distinctive high and low wave energy zones. Furthermore, wave focussing has been identified as a major mechanism controlling the transformation of wave energy across the reefs. Results provide the first field‐based validation of wave refraction and convergence on coral reefs and have significant implications for sedimentation processes and the formation of platform deposits. Reef configurations which promote marked wave convergence are more likely to retain sediment on the reef surface, whereas platforms that induce less refraction and changes in the direction of incident waves have a higher potential for the off‐reef evacuation of sediment over leeward reef margins. Results of wave measurements substantiate such projections and provide a first order explanation for the existence and absence of a coral cay on the two study reefs. The study presents empirical evidence of wave refraction and convergence on coral reefs and establishes a baseline for future investigations of hydrodynamic process controls on platform sedimentation and island formation. The scattering and diffraction of plane SV waves underground, circular, cylindrical cavities at various depths in an elastic half space is studied in this paper. The cavities, studied here, are at depths of two to five cavity radii, measured from the surface to the center of the cavity. Fourier-Bessel series are used to satisfy the wave equation and the boundary conditions. When the angle of incidence of the plane SV wave exceeds the critical angle, surface waves are generated, which are expanded in terms of Fourier series, which also involve Bessel functions. The surface displacement amplitudes and phases that are presented show that the results depend on the following parameters: (1) The angle of incidence, θβ; (2) the ratio cavity depth to the cavity radius, h/a; (3) the dimensionless frequency of the incident SV wave, η; and (4) Poisson's ratio, v. The presence of the cavity in the half space results in significant deviation of both the displacement amplitudes and phases on the nearby half space surface from that of a uniform half space.  相似文献

Amplification of in-plane seismic ground motion by underground group cavities in layered half-space is studied both in frequency domain and time domain by using indirect boundary element method (IBEM), and the effect of cavity interval and spectrum of incident waves on the amplification are studied by numerical examples. It is shown that there may be large interaction between cavities, and group cavities with certain intervals may have significant amplification to seismic ground motion. The amplification of PGA (peak ground acceleration) and its PRS (peak response spectrum) can be increased up to 45.2% and 84.4%, for an example site in Tianjin, under the excitation of Taft wave and El Centro wave; and group cavities may also affect the spectra of the seismic ground motion. It is suggested that the effect of underground group cavities on design seismic ground motion should be considered.  相似文献

Wave Generation from Explosions in Rock Cavities   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
—?We have developed a measurement method to monitor P- and S-waves generated from laboratory-scale explosions in meter-sized rock samples at a series of stations, as well as invented a device to drill spherical cavities in rock, with diameters up to 10?centimeters. We applied these to experiments in Bedford limestone in which spherical/cylindrical explosives (0.2 to 1.9?g) were centrally placed in 1.2- to 3-cm diameter cavities. Stress waves generated by the explosions were recorded within a radius of 25?cm. The radial stress wave records and post-explosion studies demonstrate that S-waves are generated from explosions in cavities as a result of both wave mode-conversion from the cavity wall and crack propagation in rocks. The experimental results of wave generation from the explosions in spherical and cylindrical cavities demonstrate the cavity geometrical effect on the resulting wave pattern. The P- and S-waves generated by explosions and crack propagation in rocks are analyzed. A simple analytic model for P-wave generation is proposed to explain the differences of P-wave-induced displacement histories between the observed waveforms and those predicted by a step-pressure source. Generally, the qualitative predictions of this model fit the observations. The present results demonstrate the importance of rock cracking and cavities in P- and S-wave generation.  相似文献

Near‐surface cavities can pose serious hazards to human safety, especially in highly urbanized town centres. The location of subsurface voids, the estimation of their size and the evaluation of the overburden thickness are necessary to assess the risk of collapse. In this study, electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) and seismic refraction tomography data are integrated in a joint interpretation process for cavity location in the city of Rome. ERT is a well established and widely employed method for cavity detection. However, additional information provided by seismic refraction tomography is capable of eliminating some potential pitfalls in resistivity data interpretation. We propose that the structure of the cavities defined by ERT can be used as a base to optimize seismic refraction tomography investigations within the framework of a joint interpretation process. Data integration and the insertion of a priori information are key issues for reducing the uncertainties associated with the inversion process and for optimizing both acquisition procedures and computation time. Herein, the two geophysical methods are tested on both synthetic and real data and the integration of the results is found to be successful in detecting isolated cavities and in assessing their geometrical characteristics. The cavity location inferred by geophysical non‐invasive methods has been subsequently confirmed by direct inspection.  相似文献

The impact of initial velocity models on final image reconstruction results and how to construct a proper initial velocity model in near-surface tomography studies are investigated on a two-layer synthetic model with gradually increasing velocity with depth. Refraction initial velocity models and linear velocity function models are tested on both synthetic and field data to obtain images close to reality. It is concluded that velocity function type initial models should be preferred in soft alluvial deposits that exist within the investigated depths, whereas refraction initial models should be preferred in the groundwater table or with strong refractors' existence within the investigated depths to obtain optimum subsurface images in refraction–diving wave seismic tomography.  相似文献

含洞穴的碳酸盐岩地层具有强烈的非均质性及储集空间预测难度大的特点,利用随钻电阻率测井方法对井眼环境含洞穴的储层进行准确识别和划分,是当前研究的一个焦点问题。本文使用一种新型的高效和高精度自适应有限元方法(hp—FEM)模拟和分析了含洞穴地层随钻电阻率测井仪器响应。本文所提的hp-FEM与传统h-FEM相比,其结果具有网格自适应的特点,并且计算能够以指数速率收敛于较高的精度。数值实例使用自适应有限元方法研究地层中洞穴的大小、洞穴距离井眼的远近和仪器发射频率改变对测井响应的影响,并提供了识别含洞穴地层的方法。研究结果可以为实际测井中遇到的各种地层洞穴的准确识别和定量评价提供理论依据。  相似文献

The potential of long ship-induced waves to serve as a physical model for tsunami waves (called simply tsunami below) is examined. Such waves (wavelengths more than 200 m at depths down to 10–20 m) are induced by high-speed ferries sailing at near-critical speeds in semisheltered, relatively shallow areas. It is shown based on experience from Tallinn Bay, Baltic Sea, that for many aspects these waves can model nearshore dynamics and runup of tsunami caused by landslides, including processes of wave refraction, diffraction, and sea-bottom interaction in bays and harbors. Many governing nondimensional parameters (such as the nonlinearity, dispersion, Reynolds and Ursell numbers, surf similarity parameter, breaking parameter, etc.) of the largest ship waves and landslide tsunamis have the same order of magnitude. It is especially important that use of ship waves for wave propagation and runup studies allows their spatial structure to be accounted for adequately. Near-critical ship waves can therefore be used as a natural substitute for tsunami, for study under controlled and safe conditions.  相似文献

The generation and evolution of the Sun’s magnetic field and other stars is usually related to the dynamo mechanism. This mechanism is based on the consideration of the joint influence of the α effect and differential rotation. Dynamo sources can be located at different depths of the convection zone and can have different intensities. Based on such a system, the dynamical system in the case of the stellar dynamo in a two-layer medium has been constructed with regard to meridional fluxes in order to model the double cycle that corresponds to the simultaneous presence of 22-year and quasi-biennial magnetic field oscillations. It has been indicated that the regime of mixed oscillations can originate because a dynamo wave moves oppositely to the meridional flows in the upper layer of the convection zone. This results in the deceleration of the toroidal field propagation and in the generation of slow oscillations. In deeper layers, the directions of a dynamo wave and meridional flows coincide with each other, as a result of which fast magnetic fields originate. Therefore, the total contribution of two oscillations with different frequencies corresponds to the appearance of quasi-biennial cycles against 22-year cycles. It has been indicated that the beating regime, which can be related to the secular oscillations of solar magnetic activity, originates in the system when the meridional flows are weak.  相似文献

从波动方程出发,推导出平面波场传播基本公式,阐述了利用地表观测波场反演地球内部波速结构的理论关系.观测波场可通过-p 变换分解为地表平面波场,其最大振幅的轨迹能稳定地反映出地球内部波速随深度变化的趋势,这一特征可用来对反演解空间进行约束.波场延拓技术可以充分地利用观测波场中包含的丰富信息,在迭代反演中不仅能简单快速地得到反演解,而且所得解具有良好的稳定性,较少受主观因素影响,这是一种很好的反演技术.对波场延拓进行了理论分析与数值模拟,采用了同态反褶积等改善资料信噪比的措施,使解的分辨能力得到了提高.文中对南海北部一个声纳折射剖面进行了分析和计算.结果表明:该区1.4km 深处,存在一个从1.76km/s 到2.21km/s 的速度间断面.间断面上下两层的速度梯度分别为0.54kms-1/km,0.63kms-1/km.最后,从构造演化的角度对浅海构造特征进行了探讨.   相似文献

In this paper, we study the possibilities of the use of microtremor records in the detection and delineation of near‐surface underground cavities. Three‐dimensional physical modelling data showed that the averaging amplitude spectra of a large number of microtremor records makes it possible to evaluate the frequencies and amplitudes of compressional standing waves generated by microtremor in the space between the ground surface and underground cavities. We illustrate how these parameters can be used to estimate the shape of the underground cavity horizontal projection. If the compressional wave velocity in the enclosing rock is known, it is possible to evaluate the depth to the cavity top using the frequencies of the standing waves. The results of the field experiment confirmed the possibility of underground cavities detection using microtremor data.  相似文献

In this paper, an analytic method is developed to address steady SH-wave scattering and perform dynamic analysis of multiple circular cavities in half space. The scattered wave function used for scattering of SH-waves by multiple circular cavities, which automatically satisfies the stress-free condition at the horizontal surface, is constructed by applying the symmetry of the SH-wave scattering and the method of multi-polar coordinates system. Applying this scattered wave function and method of moving coordinates, the original problem can be transformed to the problem of SH-wave scattering by multiple circular cavities in the full space. Finally, the solution of the problem can be reduced to a series of algebraic equations and solved numerically by truncating the infinite algebraic equations to the finite ones. Numerical examples are provided for case with two cavities to show the effect of wave number, and the distances between the centers of the cavities and from the centers to the ground surface on the dynamic stress concentration around the cavity impacted by incident steady SH-wave.  相似文献

The Doppler spectrum of an exact time harmonic radio signal for the frequency of 5 MHz on the Moscow–Akademik Vernadskii Ukrainian Antarctic station radio path in November 2002, which had two clearly defined spectral groups, has been analyzed. It is shown that an insignificant frequency shift corresponds to a standard radio wave propagation in a short direct direction. The assumption that the formation of a spectral group with a considerable frequency shift is refraction is theoretically justified based on a simplified model of the morning terminator transition region. The field strength, signal-to-noise ratio, and Doppler frequency shift obtained in the scope of the IRI-2001 extended global ionospheric model for the classical radio wave propagation modes on a superlong radio path are estimated.  相似文献

在地震勘探中,地形起伏和近地表速度的剧烈变化会导致地震波旅行时的扰动,通常会通过折射波信息来估算和消除这些扰动.本文在虚折射的基础上提出了逆虚折射干涉法,通过虚折射波场和原始折射波场的互相关,并对所有位于固定相位点上的检波点进行叠加,重构出逆虚折射波场.通过逆虚折射与超级虚折射的叠加,保证了不同偏移距下折射波振幅恢复的一致性,显著提高折射波的信噪比,有效提取弱信号.同时,本文采用反褶积干涉法来压制由于互相关和褶积产生的子波旁瓣的影响,弥补低频和高频能量的损失,改善恢复的折射波场的稳定性和分辨率.该新方法不需要知道近地表复杂速度模型的信息,可以将虚折射的勘探孔径恢复到原始地震记录的最大孔径.合成资料和实际资料的计算结果表明,基于反褶积的逆虚折射干涉法能够从低信噪比的资料中,有效恢复出折射波信息.  相似文献

The generation of auroral kilometric radiation in a narrow 3D plasma cavity, in which a weakly relativistic electron flow is propagated along the magnetic field against a low-density cold background plasma, is studied. The time dynamics of the propagation and intensification of waves are analyzed using geometric optics equations. The waves have different wave vector components and start from the cavity center at an altitude of about the Earth’s radius at plasma parameters typical for the auroral zone at this altitude. It is shown that the global inhomogeneity of the Earth’s magnetic field is of key importance in shaping the auroral kilometric radiation spectra.  相似文献

随着深井观测地震台网的进一步发展,在深井中获得的地震资料反映出了不少有意义的信息。本文对纵向不同深度上记录的地震波特征进行了分析和研究,探讨了纵向不同深度上各点之间记录的地震波走时差异和振幅差异的物理成因,指出了台基介质特性及空间状态(全空间或半空间)对地震波传播特征和记录特征的影响,并用软盖层效应加以统一解释。结果表明,在地下纵向不同深度上,自下而上直至地面,地震波的位移幅度逐渐放大、走时加长、周期变大;平原地区的松散沉积覆盖层对地震波产生放大、延时和滤波作用;在井下可以观测到向下传播的地面反射波,因而使得波列变复杂。  相似文献

The present study offers a two-dimensional horizontal wave propagation and morphodynamic model for muddy coasts. The model can be applied on a general three-dimensional bathymetry of a soft muddy coast to calculate wave damping, fluid mud mass transport and resulting bathymetry change under wave actions. The wave propagation model is based on time-dependent mild slope equations including the wave energy dissipation due to the wave-mud interaction of bottom mud layers as well as the combined effects of the wave refraction, diffraction and breaking. The constitutive equations of the visco-elastic–plastic model are adopted for the rheological behavior of fluid mud. The mass transport velocity within the fluid mud layer is calculated combining the Stokes’ drift, the mean Eulerian velocity and the gravity-driven mud flow. The results of the numerical model are compared against a series of conducted wave basin experiments, wave flume experiments and field observations. Comparisons between the computed results with both the field and laboratory data reveal the capability of the proposed model to predict the wave transformation and mud mass transport.  相似文献

A method to control the propagation of a frequency-modulated wave packet in the ionosphere with the use of the dispersive refraction effect is considered. The problem is solved in the spectral domain on the basis of the superposition principle. In this spectral approach, the dispersive refraction is considered as space–time focusing of the spectral components of the wave packet. Numerical results demonstrate the possibility to use the dispersive properties of the ionosphere for the creation of controlled radio channels.  相似文献
