A single-heating procedure is presented which makes possible the determination of two partially independent values of paleofield intensity for a given sample, one serving as a check to the other. The approach combines data required for Shaw-type and “ARM-method” determinations and in so doing furnishes a value of the ratio of TRM to ARM acquisition efficiency ( f′) corrected for any physicochemical alteration to the magnetic carriers which may have occurred during laboratory heating. Applicability of the Shaw-method to Fe-bearing samples is favorably demonstrated through simulated paleointensity determinations conducted on synthetic samples containing multi-domain grains. Moreover, coercivity spectra corresponding to anhysteretic remanent magnetization (ARM) are found to be considerably more sensitive to thermally induced alteration when compared with those corresponding to thermoremanent magnetization (TRM). The combined Shaw-ARM procedure was successfully applied to lunar basalt sample 10017,135 rendering a paleointensity of 0.82 ± 0.11 Oe. The Thellier-Thellier method, however, was not able to provide a meaningful determination on the neighboring chip (number 136). These apparently conflicting findings may be explained by one or more of the following possible interpretations: (1) multiple step-wise heatings cause considerably more damage to the carriers of remanence than does a single-heating procedure; (2) the rock possesses extreme variability in magnetic properties from one sub-sample to the other; (3) the natural remanent magnetization in this lunar basalt is not a simple TRM. 相似文献

Accurate estimation of streambed vertical hydraulic conductivity ( Kv) is of great importance in the analysis of water quantity exchange and solute transfer between a stream and its sediments. The paper analyzed the inaccuracy of hydraulic conductivity values of sediments derived from grain-size distribution ( Kg), which were determined from eight empirical grain-size methods to represent streambed Kv. In this study, the values of Kv for a streambed were derived using falling-head standpipe permeameter tests conducted at eight study sites in the Elkhorn River, Nebraska, and the tested streambed columns were then collected for grain-size analysis by sieving. These empirical methods were used to calculate the Kg values of the streambed from grain-size distribution data of sediments. Unlike many other studies, this study verifies Kg from grain-size distribution with Kv from permeameter tests on the basis of the same samples of streambed sediments. The Kg values derived from the eight empirical methods were larger than the Kv from permeameter tests; there are five methods that give Kg values of about 3–6 times larger than these Kv. The Kg values from the Kozeny formula followed by the Hazen formula give the largest overestimation error if they are used to represent the Kv of the streambed. The USBR and Shepherd formulas generated Kg values close to Kv, but these Kg values are still larger in general than the Kv values. Moreover, the new values of coefficient C for the empirical formulas were revised so that they can be used to calculate the approximate Kv of a streambed. Among the eight methods, the ratios of the original C values to the average new C range from 1.3 to 5.9. It can be hypothesized that smaller C values must be used in the estimation of Kv for general soil samples if these empirical formulas are used to calculate Kv. 相似文献

Silicate melts are very active in the interior of the Earth and other terrestrial planets, and are important carriers for the transport of material and energy. The determination of the equation of state(EOS) for silicate melts and the acquisition of a precise quantitative relationship between molar volume(or density) and temperature, pressure, and composition is essential for simulating the generation, migration, and eruption processes of magmas and the evolution of the magma ocean stage during the early formation of the Earth and other terrestrial planets, for calculating and modeling the phase equilibria involving silicate melts, and for revealing the variation of the microstructure of silicate melts with pressure. However, it is experimentally challenging to determine the volumetric properties of silicate melts and the accumulated density data at high pressure are still very limited due to a series of problems such as: the high liquidus temperature of silicate rocks; proneness for silicate melts to react with sample capsules to change the melt composition; and proneness for melts to flow and leak during the high pressure and high temperature experiments. In recent years, there is rapid progress in the high pressure and high temperature experimental techniques, in terms of not only the extension of temperature and pressure ranges but also the improvement on the accuracy of measurements, and the emergence of new methods for in-situ measurements. Here, we review the widely-used theoretical models of ambient-pressure and high-pressure EOS for silicate melts, and illustrate some problems that need to be solved urgently:(1) the room pressure EOS for iron-and titanium-bearing silicate melts needs to be improved;(2) the partial molar properties of the H2 O and CO2 components in silicate melts containing volatile components may vary markedly with the melt composition, which need to be addressed in high-pressure EOS;(3) how the formulation and applicable range of EOS correspond to changes in melt structure and compression mechanism requires further study. We highlight the basic principle and applicable range of various methods for determining the EOS for silicate melts, and compare the advantages and disadvantages of doublebob Archimedes method, fusion curve analysis, shock compression experiments, sink-float method, X-ray absorption, X-ray diffraction and ultrasonic interferometry. Future trends in this field are to develop experimental techniques for in situ measurements on melt density or sound velocity at high temperature and high pressure and to accumulate more experimental data,and on the other hand, to improve the theoretical models of the EOS for silicate melts by a combination of research on the microstructure and compression mechanisms of silicate melts. 相似文献

本文针对危机矿山深部及周边找矿的难度大、勘探周期短的特点,提出了一套以找矿为目的,集直升机大比例尺航空物探测量、数据处理、解释为一体的高分辨率航磁方法技术.这些方法包括硬架式直升机航磁测量方法、曲面位场处理方法、精细反演解释方法等.应用该方法在湖北黄石大冶铁矿中布钻,已有两孔见富磁铁矿及伴生的铜、金矿,见矿最大厚度为14.6m.因此,高分辨率航磁方法在危机矿山进一步挖潜工作中可以实现快速找矿目的. 相似文献

Internationally earthquake insurance, like all other insurance (fire, auto), adopted actuarial approach in the past, which
is, based on historical loss experience to determine insurance rate. Due to the fact that earthquake is a rare event with
severe consequence, irrational determination of premium rate and lack of understanding scale of potential loss led to many
insurance companies insolvent after Northridge earthquake in 1994.
Along with recent advances in earth science, computer science and engineering, computerized loss estimation methodologies
based on first principles have been developed to the point that losses from destructive earthquakes can be quantified with
reasonable accuracy using scientific modeling techniques.
This paper intends to introduce how engineering models can assist to quantify earthquake risk and how insurance industry can
use this information to manage their risk in the United States and abroad.

环境磁学因其快速、经济以及对样品破坏性小的优点,逐渐在现代环境污染研究中发挥着重要作用.研究对象也扩展到土壤、降尘、植物和沉积物等污染载体.为了探讨现代污染中环境磁学的应用,回顾了环境磁学应用于环境污染研究的发展情况,总结了国内外基于不同污染载体的环境磁学研究成果,并对土壤、降尘、植物和沉积物在环境磁学研究中的特点及局限进行了初步探讨.除了反映污染分布外,各污染物载体的磁学应用各有侧重:土壤分布广泛,并可以用于反映中长期污染历史;降尘可用于监测短期污染变化;植物的磁学研究提供了高分辨率的污染分布图,且更为经济;沉积物稳定沉积以及受外界干扰较小,有助于污染历史的研究.不过,磁背景值的区分,人类活动对污染载体磁信息干扰等问题也需要得到关注.并认为,在未来的环境磁学发展方向中,应该努力挖掘现有参数的新意义,探索新的环境磁学参数,深入探讨磁性响应机理,同时运用不同污染物载体作为研究对象进行综合分析. 相似文献

A reconsideration of the application of the Rosiwal Principle to lunar soils indicates a flaw in arguments put forth previously by Criswell. Specifically, by introducing a boundary condition which must exist at the lunar surface, it is shown that concentrations of solar-wind-implanted species showing a dependence on grain size may be able to develop in soils at concentration levels below those required for saturation of grain surfaces. As a result, observed grain-size-dependent concentrations of solar-wind species in lunar soils do not necessarily require the exposure time scales or solar-wind fluxes deduced from the arguments of Criswell. 相似文献

The first ground-motion prediction equation derived from European and Middle Eastern strong-motion data was published more
than 30 years ago; since then strong-motion networks and the resulting databank of accelerograms in the region have expanded
significantly. Many equations for the prediction of peak ground-motion parameters and response spectral ordinates have been
published in recent years both for the entire Euro-Mediterranean and Middle Eastern region as well as for individual countries
within this region. Comparisons among empirical ground-motion models for these parameters, developed using large regional
datasets, do not support the hypothesis of there being significant differences in earthquake ground-motions from one area
of crustal seismicity to another. However, there are certain regions within Europe—affected by different tectonic regimes—for
which the existing pan-European equations may not be applicable. The most recent European equations make it possible to now
implement overdue modifications to the presentation of seismic design actions in Eurocode 8 that allow an improved approximation
to the target uniform hazard spectrum (UHS). Using these recent equations, this study outlines a new approach via which an
approximation to the UHS may be constructed using hazard maps calculated for peak ground velocity and the corner period T
D in addition to the maps for peak ground acceleration that underpin the current stipulations of Eurocode 8. 相似文献

A reliable forecast of the failure stage of large rockslides is difficult, because of non-linear time dependency of displacements and seasonal effects. Aim of this paper is to suggest a practical method to prepare alert thresholds for large rockslides, assessing critical values of velocity for carrying out civil protection actions using monitoring data. Adopted data concern the 20 Mm 3 Ruinon rockslide (Valfurva, Central Alps, Italy), still evolving and suitable to originate a fast moving rock avalanche. Multitemporal analysis of aerial photos, LIDAR-ALTM laser topography, field survey and geomechanical analyses allowed to infer the rockslide kinematics and better understand data provided by a monitoring network including distometers, extensometers, GPS benchmarks and inclinometers. The analysis of displacement and rainfall data over five years (1997–2001) allowed to recognise three different evolutionary patterns of displacements, showing a continuously increasing rate since 1997. Data representing large-scale behaviour of the rock mass were fitted by power-law curves, according to the “accelerating creep” model by Voight, in order to evaluate a suitable failure time. This was hampered by the large seasonal deviations, which can significantly delay the occurrence of failure. Data were fitted using the Voight’s equation, expressed in terms of displacement, through non-linear estimation techniques, in order to find values of the controlling parameters ( A, α and tf) suitable to represent the mechanical behaviour of the rock mass approaching the failure. This allowed to compute velocity–time theoretical curves and to define different velocity threshold values (pre-alert, alert and emergency) to be used for emergency management. 相似文献

针对地震勘探信号,对非平稳信号时频分析几种适效方法:短时Fourier变换、小波变换、S变换、Wigner分布、平滑伪Wigner分布、锥形核时频分布、AOK(adaptive optimum kernel,自适应最优核函数)分布等进行对比与应用研究.在阐明各种方法基本原理的基础上,进行数值分析与应用研究.首先对非平稳地震勘探模拟信号进行试算及时频属性提取,结合各类方法的信号表示理论,在时频局部化的精度和交叉项抑制等方面对计算结果进行对比分析;进一步应用于实际二维地震数据,提取瞬时频率和瞬时带宽等时频属性,进行比较研究.研究表明:对于地震勘探信号,就本文涉及的几种时频分析方法而言,AOK分布是时频局部化精度最高、交叉项抑制最好、时频匹配最优的方法,值得在地震勘探信号分析和地震属性提取、频谱分解等应用中深入研究和应用. 相似文献

We address a “multi-reflection” approach to model Dirichlet and Neumann time-dependent boundary conditions in lattice Boltzmann methods for arbitrarily shaped surfaces. The multi-reflection condition for an incoming population represents a linear combination of the known population solutions. The closure relations are first established for symmetric and anti-symmetric parts of the equilibrium functions, independently of the nature of the problem. The symmetric part is tuned to build second- and third-order accurate Dirichlet boundary conditions for the scalar function specified by the equilibrium distribution. The focus is on two approaches to advection and anisotropic-dispersion equations (AADE): the equilibrium technique when the coefficients of the expanded equilibrium functions match the coefficients of the transformed dispersion tensor, and the eigenvalue technique when the coefficients of the dispersion tensor are built as linear combinations of the eigenvalue functions associated with the link-type collision operator. As a particular local boundary technique, the “anti-bounce-back” condition is analyzed. The anti-symmetric part of the generic closure relation allows to specify normal flux conditions without inversion of the diffusion tensor. Normal and tangential constraints are derived for bounce-back and specular reflections. The bounce-back closure relation is released from the non-physical tangential flux restriction at leading orders. Solutions for the Poisson equation and for convection–diffusion equations are presented for isotropic/anisotropic configurations with specified Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. 相似文献

通过2003年青海德令哈M_L 6.7地震序列的主震和3个不同震级的余震震源机制解测定实例,展示了Snoke(2003)震源机制求解方法的应用过程和结果,提出了应用该方法需注意的问题。将同时利用了P波和S波初动方向及振幅比数据的测定结果与仅用P波初动方向数据的结果作了对比研究,说明仅用P波初动方向常常不能有效约束震源机制解,而Snoke方法增加使1用的SH波和SV波的初动方向以及SH波、SV波与P波的观测振幅比数据,使解答得到了更有效的约束,提高了解答的可信度。本试验研究说明,基于区域性的宽频带数字地震记录,利用Snoke震源机制求解方法,有可能测定出比较可靠的中、小地震的震源机制解。 相似文献

Reefs represent a special type of carbonate trap that plays a key role in the migration, accumulation, and formation of a reservoir. They have commonly been the targets of exploration and development. However, reefs have complex interior structures and easily grow as thin, interbedded geological frames with reef microfacies that include the cap, core, and base of the reef. Because of the inherent drawbacks of seismic signals, including their low frequencies and narrow bandwidths, it is difficult to accurately identify reef reservoirs. Fortunately, the seismic frequency, phase, energy, waveform and other dynamic and geometrical properties can be used to compensate for the energy, expand the frequency bandwidth, and decompose and reconstruct the wavelet to obtain high-resolution seismic data. These data can highlight certain seismic responses of reefs, including boundary reflections, dome-shaped reflections from the reef outline, strong reflections from the reef cap, reflections from the reef bottom, and onlap reflections from the reef flanks. Some impedance response regularities, such as the lower impedance of the reef cap relative to the reef core and biodetritus beach and the fluctuating impedance of the reef-flat complex, are observed by combining log data with geological and high-resolution seismic data for a reef reservoir inversion. These methods were applied to the Changxing Formation in the Yuanba Gas Field. Good prediction results were obtained with a high consistency between the log and seismic data in a comparative analysis with the original seismic data and well logs. 相似文献
