The morphology and geochemistry of pedogenic carbonate found in vertic claystone palaeosols in the Devonian Catskill Formation in central Pennsylvania preserve a record of the physical and chemical environment of carbonate precipitation. The carbonate is characterized by three distinct petrographic generations. Pedogenic rhizoliths and nodules are the earliest precipitated generation, and typically consist of dull red-brown luminescent micrite. Clear, equant calcite spar cement fills voids in the centres of rhizoliths, as well as circumgranular cracks and septarian voids in nodules. Early spar cements are non-luminescent to dull luminescent, whereas later spar cements exhibit bright yellow-orange luminescence. Late stage pedogenic fractures are always occluded with very bright yellow-orange luminescent spar cements. The incorporation of progressively higher concentrations of Mn (up to 34000 ppm) into successively younger calcite spar cements, without concomitant increases in Fe, suggests carbonate precipitation from an evolving meteoric water in which Mn2+ became increasingly mobile over time. The increased mobility is possibly due to decreasing Eh, resulting from oxidation of organic matter after rapid soil burial on the floodplain. The amount of Fe2+ available for incorporation into calcite was limited because most iron was immobile, having been earlier oxidized and bound to the palaeosol clay matrix as a poorly crystallized ferric oxide or oxyhydroxide mineral. Carbon isotope compositions of pedogenic carbonate correlate with the inferred depth of carbonate precipitation. Rhizoliths preserved below the lowest stratigraphic occurrences of pedogenic slickensides are consistently depleted in 13C relative to nodules, which formed stratigraphically higher, within the zone of active soil shrink and swell processes. Nodular carbonate, precipitated in proximity to deep cracks in the soil, is enriched due to increased gas exchange with isotopically heavy atmospheric CO2. Accordingly, rhizolith compositions will most accurately estimate palaeoatmospheric levels of CO2; the use of nodule compositions may result in overestimation of PCO2 by as much as 30%.  相似文献

The relationship between palaeosols and sequence stratigraphy is tested in the Lower Permian Abo Member, south‐central New Mexico, by comparing interfluve and fluvial‐terrace palaeosols with palaeosols that developed within lowstand‐fluvial deposits. Interfluve and fluvial‐terrace palaeosols consist of primary pedogenic features, including vertical root traces, vertic structures, Stage II and III pedogenic calcite and translocated clay (argillans), which are cross‐cut or replaced by low‐aluminium goethite, gley colour mottling, sparry calcite veins and ankerite. The polygenetic character of the palaeosols is consistent with initial development for several thousand to tens of thousands of years on well‐drained interfluves or fluvial terraces, followed by waterlogging due to invasion by a rising water table that locally may have been brackish. In contrast, lowstand‐fluvial sediment that filled incised valleys contains only rooted and vertic palaeosols, whose immaturity resulted from high aggradation rates. Palaeosols similar to those in the Abo Member have been recognized in other ancient strata and, when combined with high‐resolution correlation, provide evidence for interpretation of sequence‐stratigraphic surfaces and systems tracts.  相似文献

文章采用野外露头、钻井地质相结合的分析方法,讨论了新疆北部石炭纪的岩相古地理环境。野外露头、钻井资料的沉积建造、沉积相分布及古生物组合特征综合表明,新疆北部石炭纪古地理总体特征表现为由早石炭世的深海-半深海相、浅海相向晚石炭世的浅海相、海陆过渡相及陆相演化的趋势。岩石组合类型由早石炭世的活动陆缘型岛弧火山岩、深海复理石及海相碳酸盐岩向晚石炭世的裂谷型火山岩、陆相碎屑岩、海相碎屑岩及海相碳酸盐岩过渡。早、晚石炭世不同地区的古地理及其相应的岩石组合类型存在明显的差异。  相似文献

In the Qaidam basin,Northwest China,karstic fissures and caves are developed in many places of the Lower Carboniferous Chengqianggou Fm.and Huaitoutala Fm.and the Upper Carboniferous Keluke Fm.,in which are found typical karstic marks.Several suites of transgressive carbonate rocks formed during the Late Paleozoic epoch are preserved as reservoir properties in the Qaidam basin,with paleokarst-related cave-fractured diagenetic structures,which provided the basis for cavefractured development.Carbonate and clastic samples covering or infilling caves and fractures in Carboniferous strata were collected in the eastern Qaidam basin to focus on petrological and geochemical analyses of karst and infilling materials.Based on this study of the Caledonian diagenetic sequence,and bitumen-infilled inclusion temperature and burial history,there existed a continuous atmospheric freshwater leaching process,which played a critical role in the construction of the Carboniferous supergene paleokarsts.Investigation and survey of the tectonic setting,plate paleolatitude and river development intensity also proves that there was abundant rainfall during the Indosinian period,after which the strata undergo a shallow burial process.Because Indosinian period is earlier than the key timing of hydrocarbon-generation of the Carboniferous source rocks,this kind of karst reservoir has potential significance for oil-gas resources in this area.  相似文献

详细的地质解剖工作表明,东天山地区大南湖岛弧带石炭纪出露4套岩石地层组合,即早石炭世小热泉子组火山岩、晚石炭世底坎儿组碎屑岩和碳酸盐岩、晚石炭世企鹅山组火山岩、晚石炭世脐山组碎屑岩夹碳酸盐岩。根据其岩石组合、岩石地球化学、生物化石、同位素资料以及彼此的产出关系,认为这4套岩石地层组合的沉积环境分别为岛弧、残余海盆、岛弧和弧后盆地。结合区域资料重塑了大南湖岛弧带晚古生代的构造格架及演化模式。早、晚石炭世的4套岩石地层组合并置体现了东天山的复杂增生过程。  相似文献

Cenozoic atmospheric circulation, climatic changes, sedimentation and weathering over the Indian sub-continent were mainly influenced by the northward drift of the Indian Plate, the shrinking Paratethys, India-Asia collision and the rise of the Himalayas. This study is aimed at exploring the fluvial sedimentary record of the north-west part of the Himalayan Foreland Basin to interpret weathering and pedogenesis during early Oligocene to Mid-Miocene time. Palaeopedological investigation of a 3.1 km thick succession from Kangra sub-basin of the Himalayan Foreland Basin shows that the lower 2 km part of the succession is characterized by the red (10R hue) and the upper 1.1 km part of the succession by the yellow (2.5Y hue) palaeosols with varying intensity of weathering and pedogenesis. The association of sedimentary rocks and pedogenic expression in palaeosols indicate four (Type-A to Type-D) pedofacies in the entire Oligocene–Miocene succession. The pedofacies are defined by a decrease in the intensity of palaeopedogenic development from strongly-developed palaeopedofeatures in Type-A, moderately-developed palaeopedofeatures in Type-B, weakly-developed palaeopedofeatures in Type-C and to the only incipient stage of palaeopedogenesis in Type-D pedofacies. The palaeolatitudinal shift during the convergence of the Indian Plate played a major role in weathering and palaeopedogenesis with the inception of seasonality during the early Oligocene, which is demonstrated by the formation of the red palaeosols with pedogenic CaCO3 and vertic features in tropical conditions. The transition to yellow palaeosols at about 20 Ma is marked by increased humidity, rapid aggradation, pronounced uplift and enhanced erosion of the hinterland. These yellow palaeosols are characterized by the abundance of weakly-developed Bw and Bss horizons, pure clay pedofeatures and absence of any pedogenic CaCO3 during short pedogenic intervals in subtropical conditions.  相似文献

思茅地区位于东特提斯构造域的东段,晚古生代时期属扬子地台西缘的一部分。晚石炭世具有台盆相间的沉积格局,形成了三类不同的沉积:滨岸沉积、浅海台地沉积和深水浊流沉积。其中深水浊流沉积以火山源浊流沉积为特征,是在平缓的碳酸盐台地或陆棚之上通过断陷事件发展起来的,包括了5个沉积旋回,表现出强烈的火山活动期与火山休眠期交递进行的沉积旋回特征。自晚石炭世早期到晚期,火山活动期逐渐增长,休眠期逐渐缩短,反映出盆地性质自稳定向活动的转化过程。火山岩具有岛弧型火山岩特征,说明晚石炭世,思茅地区具有活动型大陆边缘沉积特征  相似文献

通过对大量储层物性数据的分析和整理,结合薄片观察和扫描电镜分析结果,研究了不同构造背景、不同沉积类型及不同埋深的储层物性特征及其控制因素。东营凹陷近系碎屑岩储层类型多样,大多形成在冲积扇-河流、扇三角洲、近岸水下扇、深水浊积扇、三角洲前缘滑塌浊积扇以及滨浅湖滩坝等多种沉积环境中。碎屑岩储层类型主要包括砾岩、含砾砂岩、中粗砂岩、细砂岩及粉砂岩。其中中砂岩和细砂岩是最好的储层。但是不同地区、不同类型储层物性存在较大的差异。物性最好的储层为河道、(扇)三角洲前缘水下分流河道及河口坝砂体。在相同深度条件下,中央隆起带的物性最好,北部和南部次之。另外,本区随埋藏深度增加,碎屑岩储层物性逐渐变差(剔除次生孔隙的影响)。根据碎屑岩储层物性差异性分析和储层成岩演化研究结果,其储层物性主要受压实作用、碳酸盐溶蚀与胶结作用及沉积条件四大因素控制,其中压实作用、溶蚀作用及胶结作用是主要控制因素,而沉积条件对物性的影响主要表现在控制原生孔隙的发育程度,并进一步控制溶蚀、胶结等成岩作用。  相似文献

In the Ligurian Alps, the Barbassiria massif (a Variscan basement unit of the Briançonnais domain) is made up of orthogneisses derived from K‐rich rhyolite protoliths and minor rhyolite dykes. However, on account of subsequent Alpine deformation and a related blueschist facies metamorphic overprint that are pervasive within the Barbassiria Orthogneisses, little evidence of the earlier Variscan metamorphism is preserved. In this study, new U–Pb laser ablation–inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (LA–ICP–MS) dating of zircon from the Barbassiria Orthogneisses and dykes was undertaken to unravel the relationships between protolith magmatism and the Variscan metamorphic overprint. The results suggest a protolith age for the Barbassiria Orthogneisses of ~315–320 Ma (i.e., Early/Late Carboniferous), and constrain the age of a subsequent rhyolite dyke emplacement event to 260.2 ± 3.1 Ma (i.e., Late Permian). The Variscan high‐temperature (greenschist–amphibolite facies) metamorphic event that affected the Barbassiria Orthogneisses was likely associated with both tectonic burial and compression during the final stages of the Variscan collision during the Late Carboniferous period. Emplacement of late‐stage rhyolite dykes that cut the Barbassiria Orthogneisses is linked to a diffuse episode of Late Permian rhyolite volcanism that is commonly observed in the Ligurian Alps. The age of this dyke emplacement event followed a ~10–15 Ma Mid‐Permian gap in the volcano‐sedimentary cover sequence of the Ligurian Alps, and represents the post‐orogenic stage in this segment of the Variscides. Sonic velocities in the Toolonga Calcilutite (Upper Cretaceous), the Gearle Siltstone and Haycock Marl (mid‐Cretaceous), and the Muderong Shale (Lower Cretaceous) were each used to independently quantify apparent uplift (height above maximum burial depth) in the Carnarvon Basin. Apparent uplift is given by the difference in depth between the present‐day velocity‐depth trend for a unit in a particular well and the reference trend (unaffected by uplift) of the unit. Apparent uplift results derived from the Toolonga Calcilutite, Gearle Siltstone and Muderong Shale are statistically similar. The consistency of results from carbonate and clastic units suggests that, at the formation and regional scale, overcompaction (i.e. anomalously high interval velocity) in these three units reflects previously greater burial depth, rather than sedimentological and/or diagenetic processes, and validates the use of lithologies other than shale in maximum burial‐depth studies. The proposed magnitudes of apparent uplift are greatest along some of the main structural highs of the Carnarvon Basin. Apparent uplift of approximately 800 m was determined along the Legendre Trend, and along the Barrow Arch. In excess of 900 m of apparent uplift was determined on the Bambra Anticline. The consistency of results from units of Early to Late Cretaceous age suggests that uplift must have post‐dated the youngest (Late Cretaceous) unit analysed.  相似文献

盆地演化中地层的沉积与剥蚀及盆地的历史构造形态变动是盆地分析及其矿产富集的重要影响因素。本文考虑到盆地西部白垩系的声波时差资料的分段性和估算中生代三叠纪以来抬升剥蚀事件强度所需选择合理方法的重要性,采用钻井分层资料“点连线,线线相交闭合”方式,应用以地层对比为主的方法估算了三叠纪以来4期地层抬升并遭受剥蚀的剥蚀量。估算结果发现,白垩纪末期为三叠纪以来最强烈一期全盆抬升剥蚀事件,三叠纪末期、中侏罗世和侏罗纪末期等3期剥蚀事件相对较弱。剥蚀强度分布与盆地演化模拟结果表明,盆地自三叠纪以来的构造变动表现为一掀斜过程;对盆地三叠系油气生成、运聚的影响分析认为,三叠系烃源岩在晚侏罗世前已生烃,掀斜构造演化过程使油气运移指向盆地东部及东南地区。  相似文献

Three successive Mesozoic neptunian dyke generations and related unconformities suggest recurrent extensional fracturing and periods of relative sea-level rise along the NW Trento Plateau margin in the Southern Alps, Italy. The first neptunian dyke generation was induced by NNW–SSE directed extension of Early Jurassic skeletal oolitic periplatform deposits generating micritic early Middle Liassic neptunian dykes with orthogonal orientation. The second generation of neptunian dykes was possibly caused by marginal extension at the drowned platform edge penetrating Late Jurassic, red pelagic limestones with a pelagic matrix of Albian/Cenomanian age and nearly orthogonal fracture orientation. The third generation of neptunian dykes occurred after a prolonged period of submarine exposure and erosion (Aptian/Albian to Late Maastrichtian) during the rapid burial of the submarine Trento Plateau margin relief. The Late Maastrichtian neptunian dykes were caused by extension of Early to Middle Jurassic oolitic periplatform limestones along steep (inclination > 10°) submarine slopes. Generally successive neptunian dyke generations along drowned carbonate platform margins could be caused by repeated extensional brittle fracturing of lithified periplatform deposits and the filling of micritic matrix derived from overlying pelagic sediment sequences under substantial hydrostatic pressure. This would suggest that recurrent extensional fracturing is continuously recorded by neptunian dyke formation which could be used to indicate extensional tectonic activity at a foundering deep-marine carbonate platform edge.  相似文献

与泥页岩以缓慢压实为主的成岩作用不同,碳酸盐岩的成岩以胶结和交代作用为主,并在浅埋处几乎失去其所有的原生孔隙和沉积水。碳酸盐岩在埋藏条件下处于近完全封闭的压实流环境中,深埋和地温升高除形成小规模的压溶作用(如缝合线)外,其他类型的成岩作用很微弱。在进入有机质生烃的门限深度后,低丰度有机质虽可生成一定数量的烃类,但碳酸盐岩不像泥岩那样可以脱出大量压实水,烃的运移既无"载体",又无异常高压作为动力和造缝条件,烃类很难大规模运移。在其后的成岩作用中,烃类或分散于封闭的晶间孔隙中,或与矿物结合形成晶包有机质和包裹体有机质,造成碳酸盐岩含烃率常常高于泥页岩。  相似文献

为了研究超压对碎屑岩储层机械压实作用的抑制作用和预测超压背景下碎屑岩储层的孔隙度,本文根据压力平衡原理,推导了地层超压与有效埋深的关系方程,并在综合考虑超压、溶蚀和胶结作用的基础上,建立了超压背景下储层孔隙度的预测模型。结果表明,盆地中地层的密度越小,超压对碎屑岩储层机械压实的抑制效果越明显。三个不同时代、不同类型沉积盆地的孔隙度预测结果表明,应用本文建立的储层孔隙度预测模型所预测储层孔隙度的误差均低于Gluyas和Cade方程,而且孔隙度预测的误差随地层时代的变老而增大。在储层胶结物小于10%的条件下,新生代超压盆地碎屑岩储层孔隙度的预测误差小于2%,而中生代超压盆地储层孔隙度的预测误差大于5%。本文建立的超压背景下的碎屑岩储层孔隙度预测模型仅适用于时代较新超压盆地的孔隙度预测。  相似文献

作为一种特殊产状的岩浆岩,岩墙保存有岩浆活动和地球动力学背景等方面的重要信息。为了研究和探讨西准噶尔乃至中亚地区古生代晚期的地球动力学环境,我们对西准噶尔地区侵入花岗岩的暗色岩墙开展了卫星遥感影像解译、地表地质调查和相关室内研究工作。研究发现,新疆西准噶尔红山花岗岩体中发育大量环状和非环状闪长岩岩墙。环状岩墙从中心到外围,岩墙宽度逐渐变窄,矿物粒度也逐渐变细;非环状岩墙切割环状岩墙,宽度和矿物粒度都没有明显变化。为了确定这些岩墙的形成时代,对3个环状岩墙样品、2个非环状岩墙和1个花岗岩样品进行了锆石LA-ICP-MSU-Pb定年,得到环状岩墙的年龄为:304±1Ma、302±1Ma、303±1Ma;非环状岩墙的年龄为:302±1Ma、302±1Ma;花岗岩的年龄为304±1Ma。结合不同类型岩墙及其与岩体的穿切关系,确定红山岩体的形成时代为304Ma左右,环状岩墙的形成时代为303Ma左右,非环状岩墙的形成时代为302Ma左右。这一年代学研究成果揭示出西准噶尔地区在石炭纪末期发育不同类型的岩浆活动,闪长质岩墙所占据的裂隙是在石炭纪末期形成的;为从岩浆活动和由这些岩墙所占据的裂隙研究,探讨该区古生代晚期的地球动力学环境,提供了有力的时间约束。  相似文献
