Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city with the largest concentration of creative sector employment and businesses in the country. This paper examines the spatial distribution of firms in the design creative subsector across the Auckland Region and in inner Auckland and ascertains the key determinants of firm location. The macrolevel findings indicate that the architectural and specialized design firms have similar spatial distribution patterns across the Auckland Region, while the advertising subsector demonstrates an extreme tendency toward spatial concentration only in inner Auckland. All three subsectors have a strong propensity to clustering within inner Auckland; however, one CBD (Central Business District) fringe area, Parnell outperforms the rest. The microlevel findings reveal hybridized creative clusters of uneven density. Parnell’s unique brand and place-specific characteristics were the key determinants of firm location which led to the spontaneous collocation of firms. These location decisions had the unintended consequence of creating agglomeration economies.  相似文献

ABSTRACT. Sales of muebles rústicos, or rustic wooden furniture made in Mexico, have grown rapidly in the United States since 1994. Analysis of the recent rise of the industry tracks manufacturing and marketing methods in major production areas of Mexico. Consumer taste for “authentic” handmade goods of simple design and the vogue of the “Santa Fe” style across the American Southwest mesh with Mexican producers' need to seek foreign markets during an economic crisis. Changing style preferences, along with the furniture's handcrafted appearance, its competitive cost, and the makers' flexible production methods, are reasons for the increased popularity of this folk commodity.  相似文献

In metropolitan areas, firms trade-off land and information costs. Firms that gain the most from access to the knowledge and know-how of other firms in the same sector are willing and able to pay for expensive central city land. We found that legal services, advertising, and accounting and auditing services are the most centralized services in the 74 largest metropolitan areas of the United States. Maps of seven fast-growing business and professional services in Phoenix, Arizona, show that central city services are mainly located in the CBD. Using a logarithmic function, we found that service jobs are more decentralized in the larger metropolitan areas and in metropolitan areas outside the Northeast. Analysis of disaggregate service sectors shows significant intersectoral variation in this relationship.  相似文献

Resilience is an increasingly important concept within urban studies, economic geography, and evolutionary economics for measuring the capacity of city-regions to respond to economic shocks. In this article, we provide a sympathetic critique of the resilience metaphor in urban studies, which we explicate through an analysis of the recent history of the Vancouver economy. On the surface, Vancouver seemingly showed resilience when it overcame the abrupt decline of its resource-based economy in the 1980s, and established an alternative flourishing “new economy” by the 1990s. But over the last five years, the key local “creative” industries such as video game development and film production have suffered, with a number of large firms leaving Vancouver, and industry employment declining sharply. Drawing on more than 40 interviews conducted over a five-year period with members of the local video game community, our paper documents the rise and more recent decline of Vancouver’s “new economy” sector. Our research raises questions about the value of the resilience metaphor in urban studies and highlights the difficulties facing city-regions reliant on highly mobile “new economy” industries.  相似文献

经典的CBD内部产业空间布局理论源于西方,在新时期背景下需对其在中国的适用性进行实证检验。本文使用机器学习分类的2000—2018年微观企业数据,通过分析产业结构、集聚程度、空间分布特征等,探寻中国典型城市中心CBD——南京新街口地区的服务业时空演变及空间集聚特征。研究发现:① 南京市新街口服务业产业结构演变表现为生产性服务业数量持续领跑,流通性服务业增速趋缓,与消费性服务业、信息服务业差距拉大,总体未出现专业化趋势;在与全市对比中,消费性服务业有更强的比较优势,且优势随时间推移而扩大。② 行业集聚程度分化,各行业集聚程度演变表现为消费性服务业、社会性服务业与信息服务业总体集聚,其中餐饮、娱乐与居民服务业的集聚程度最高;零售业呈分散趋势,与前者形成倒挂;生产性服务业两极分化,金融业偏集聚,而研发设计服务业偏分散。③ 空间分布上演变整体呈现双圈层收缩趋势,生产性服务业与消费性服务业高度耦合,社会性服务业集聚中心趋于内核,流通性服务业与信息服务业集聚在外圈层。  相似文献

Globalization is constituted not only through interurban networks of global city regions, but also by intraurban linkages within city regions. In this article, we use the Madrid city region as a case study to analyze the emergence of new “globalization arenas”—dense agglomeration nodes of knowledge-intensive business services (KIBSs)—on the outskirts of large metropolises (METs). We focus on two distinct types of centers. New employment centers (NECs) are produced by intrametropolitan suburbanization and realignment of preexisting small agglomerations. Historic administrative cities (HACs) are created by suprametropolitan scale processes remaking historically autonomous centers beyond the MET, which are only now being articulated in metropolitan transformation. We use statistical, cartographic, and econometric techniques to analyze proximity and economic base characteristics of NECs and HACs. As KIBSs continue to evolve in patterns of decentralized concentration, HACs are becoming more important KIBS nodes amidst complex landscapes of functional specialization and repositioning.  相似文献

城市零售商业的空间分布是现代城市发展的重要研究领域,科学分析城市零售商业的集聚特征,有利于优化城市用地布局及合理配置城市商业资源。基于POI数据,以武汉市街道为研究尺度,通过核密度估计、空间自相关分析以及Ripley’s K函数来识别武汉市零售商业中心热点和分析各业态之间的差异。结果表明:(1)武汉市零售商业在空间分布上表现为“大集聚、小分散”的特征,集聚趋势和扩张态势并存,在中心城区集聚特征明显,并形成多个次级集聚中心。(2)全局空间自相关分析结果显示Moran’s I为0.385,说明武汉市零售商业分布存在正的空间相关性,局部空间自相关分析表明高-高集聚区的街道集聚特征明显,但其辐射带动作用较弱,极化现象明显。(3)零售商业分布的“中心-外围”结构明显,零售商业集中区主要分布在以江汉路商圈为核心的10 km圈层范围内,由中心城区向远城区递减。(4)不同距离下各业态空间集聚存在差异,商场、超市进行区位选择的范围较小,便利店、家居建材市场、专卖店的距离范围较大。  相似文献

Abstract

According to recent research, one of the most promising strategies for intraurban job growth lies promoting localized clusters that produce goods and services which are primarily sold within a single city, metropolitan area, or urban region. However, in order to design urban policies to create or reinforce local clusters, the first challenge is to measure in a reliable way the clustering tendencies of different kinds of economic units in intraurban space. The aim is to compare the similarities and differences in results obtained from two methods designed to measure global clustering tendencies (the planar and network K-functions) in terms of characterization, scale, and intensity of intraurban localization patterns for tertiary economic units in a Latin American metropolis. It is concluded that the network K-function is a more appropriate method for measuring agglomeration patterns, scale, and intensity at the intra-urban level.  相似文献

体验性网络团购模式正在对城市商业空间产生显著影响。以团购商品信息量作为基础数据,采用矢量数据符号法和空间插值法对成都市团购市场发展的空间特征进行分析。结果表明:餐饮、娱乐、生活和旅游酒店类团购信息在各商圈分布的集中化程度与摄影类相比较低。成都市中心区域的团购市场发展水平较高,形成了以春熙路商圈为核心的综合商业型热点区和以建设路商圈和双楠商圈为核心的生活服务型热点区。市场原则下团购市场发展的空间公平性较好的区域主要集中在成都市中心区域。团购市场发展的空间格局具有明显的区位特征,其空间发展的驱动力主要包括实体商业空间布局、消费者规模空间格局和区域可达性等;“时间距离”对团购市场区位特征产生的摩擦阻力已经超过空间距离。  相似文献

ABSTRACT. The sustainability of creative producers‐businesses and individuals‐depends in part on the state of the urban environment, especially the one of the street. Relationships with the street differ among creative producers with different power positions and levels of embeddedness in street life. Thus an approach to the sustainability of the creative city needs to move beyond the simplistic ideals of “mixed use” and “vitality” to an understanding of the complexity and continuity inherent in the production of creative spaces with respect to the multiple transactions of both the strong and weak stakeholders involved‐the “wolves” and “lambs.” The example used in this article, which draws on evidence from interviews with producers, is the film and television industry in Camden Town, London, in relation to the “experience” economy.  相似文献

基于中国数字创意上市企业、新三板挂牌企业数据,运用核密度估计、标准差椭圆、基尼系数、负二项回归模型等方法探究其空间分布特征及影响因素。研究发现:① 数字创意上市挂牌企业总体呈“东密西疏”的空间结构特征,集聚与扩张共存并以集聚为主,且始终保持京津冀、长三角、珠三角等多核心空间集聚形态,空间分布高度不均衡且区域重心北向迁移显著。② 数字创意上市挂牌企业空间分布具有行业异质性,其集聚区域、集聚强度因产业特性和所有制性质不同而存在差异。③ 数字创意上市挂牌企业的空间分异受到集聚经济、基础设施、正式制度、非正式制度因素中的文化活跃度与企业家创新精神、宏观经济环境因素中的全球连通性、金融集聚水平等因素影响,具有明显“高等级城市偏好”。企业空间分异影响因素因产业特性和所有制不同存在差异。  相似文献

针对以往文化产业区位特征研究中缺乏与城市功能格局有机联系的问题,以中国西部重要的文化产业集聚中心西安市为案例,采用土地利用区位商、标准差椭圆、热点分析和叠加分析等方法,分析其文化产业的空间集聚特征及与城市功能格局的耦合关系。结果表明,2016年西安市的文化产业布局具有较强的“空间+功能”依附性特征,其空间集聚以城市发展主轴为方向线,集中在以一类工业和科教功能为主、开发较为成熟的城市综合功能区。传统商贸业、物流业等要素集散枢纽对文化产业的空间集聚影响较为显著。面向生活服务的文化休闲娱乐服务业的空间分布相对均衡,而面向生产服务的文化创意和设计服务业则表现出较强的产业关联导向和环境氛围导向特征。  相似文献

以长沙市为研究对象,基于兴趣点(POI)数据,运用标准差椭圆分析、Getis-Ord Gi*指数等方法识别长沙市商务办公空间结构,并借助地理加权回归分析方法探究城市空间因子对商务办公空间格局影响的空间异质性特征。结果表明:1)长沙市商务办公空间已形成“多中心”的集聚形态,呈现“一主一副两带多组团”结构,形成以湘江以东的芙蓉广场为主中心,以长沙火车站为副中心的中央商务区,湘江以西暂未形成副商务区。2)商务办公空间集聚的主导影响因素是商业空间中的购物服务、酒店等;交通条件次之,平均影响程度依次为:公交>主干道>对外交通>地铁;休闲、居住职能空间中除公园绿地的正向推动作用仅次于主干道外,其余因素均较弱,其中风景名胜和住宅区的整体抑制作用明显。3)各因素总体表征为“中心―外围”的圈层影响模式,商业空间、主干道、地铁、公园绿地在中心圈层推动作用较大,影响强度与距中心的距离成反比;在外围圈层受住宅区、公交吸引形成商务办公空间集聚组团。  相似文献

Attention has shifted to the role of subsidiary urban centers as the new “spatial nodes” within metropolitan areas as manufacturing employment has dispersed away from its traditional central city locations over the past decades. Understanding the character and evolving functions of these new “centers” is crucial to predicting (or influencing) future metropolitan spatial patterns. This paper explores the nature and role of the principal employment centers within the Dallas-Fort Worth region from the perspective of locational choices by firms in three-digit SIC Manufacturing. First the centers are empirically identified via a methodology that “maps” employment land-use polygons onto a zip code-level geography. The industrial attributes of firms choosing such centers are then investigated using multinomial logit. The general attractiveness to firms in manufacturing of various spatial characteristics of these centers are next studied through a discrete choice framework. Finally, a “mixed” conditional logit model is specified and implemented to identify special affinities between a type of firm and a kind of location. Results of the exercise enable judgment on the utility of the employment center concept and on industrial location behavior in a modem urban context.  相似文献

大都市创意产业发展既重构了大都市经济空间与文化社会空间, 又促成了大都市功能提升与结构优化。内城新经济研究认为大都市创意产业发展, 既孕育了创意空间, 又对其有高度依赖, 但是对于创意空间的内涵与认知却众说纷纭。中国发达地区创意空间是否存在, 其发育程度如何, 这正是本文的研究初衷。本文以上海大都市创意企业空间分布为研究对象, 基于创意空间的现实形态结合地统计方法及城市空间结构, 构建了由全局与局部Moran 指数初次判别-回归分析检验与甄别构成的创意空间识别方法。利用上海市第一次与第二次经济普查的企业数据进行分析, 结果表明:①基于GeoDA空间相关性的回归分析与综合判定方法是行之有效的;②2004 年与2008 年上海市各区创意企业在空间关联性上呈正相关, 且表现出集群式空间集聚;③上海创意企业高度集聚于中心城区, 并形成以静安、卢湾为中心的创意空间, 这表明创意空间具有显著的趋大都市中心特性, 但又偏离上海大都市中央商务区, 且有别于国外大都市“多中心”格局, 反映了中国大都市空间结构演变的自身特征。  相似文献

国际发展经验表明, 大都市生产者服务业具有强烈的向中心商务区聚集的特征, 同时 随着产业分工深化和技术进步, 也具有向郊区扩散的趋势。利用空间基尼系数、经济计量模 型分析等方法分析北京市的金融服务业、信息咨询服务业、计算机服务业三大类生产者服务 业在城市中尤其是在中心城区和近郊区的的空间分布和聚集情况, 发现北京市的生产者服务 业呈现明显的聚集特征, 而向郊区扩散的趋势并不明显, 并且金融业、信息咨询业、计算机 服务业三类生产者服务业的聚集特征有所差别。北京市生产者服务业空间区位选择是由市场 规律、政府规划、城市特色共同作用的结果。总结国内外的研究结果发现, 生产者服务业的 空间分布主要由经济活动的联系特征、生产要素特征和区位条件三个要素所决定。  相似文献

基于2007年和2017年郑州市POI数据,采用随机森林模型和样方比例法识别其城市内部的“生产-生活-生态”空间,并利用核密度等方法分析研究区“生产-生活-生态”空间的时空演变格局。结果表明:① 随机森林作为新兴的机器学习算法,能够识别“生产-生活-生态”空间且具有较高的精度。② 郑州市“生产-生活-生态”空间分布格局与城市功能分区相匹配,生产空间集聚分布在产业集聚区,生活空间在城市中心城区内呈面状分布,生态空间整体呈点状分布。③ 随着郑州市城镇化建设和基础设施的完善,10年间郑州市“生产-生活-生态”空间的空间分布格局更加合理,生产空间向产业集聚区集聚,生活空间逐渐分散,生态空间分布更加均衡。基于POI数据,利用随机森林模型对城市“生产-生活-生态”空间的识别方法更加有效,识别结果更加精准,能够在更小的尺度上为国土空间规划提供数据与方法支撑。  相似文献

This research investigates the process through which small-town central business districts (CBDs) are transformed into visitor-oriented attractions. A case study of Galena, Illinois, reveals that the dominant characteristics of the downtown redevelopment process are applicable to metropolis and small town alike. Similar economic “tools,” enabling legislation, and other mechanisms are available to essentially all municipalities regardless of size. Further, growth coalitions and interest groups are formed to promote the particular use and exchange values of CBDs throughout the urban hierarchy. What differs between small town and large metropolis, however, is the way in which contemporary CBDs are perceived by the community. While the metropolitan downtown is now largely viewed as a “command center” within a global economy, the small-town CBD is still varyingly perceived as the community's economic and social center. Such contrasting conceptions of downtown hold implications for the ability to successfully transform Main Street into a tourist attraction without generating substantial inter-community conflict.
