We present a method for solving problems in which a stellar wind interacts with the surrounding environment through the production of a 'double radiative shock' structure. This condition is generally met in problems involving winds ejected from young stars. We describe a method that can be applied to problems of winds with arbitrary time and angular dependence, interacting with a stationary environment with an arbitrary density distribution. We apply the method to the interaction of: a steady wind (with an instantaneous 'turning-on') with a power-law environmental density stratification, a 'wind plus jet' ejection with a toroidal environmental density stratification, and to the interaction of an isotropic wind with a clumpy environment. These three examples illustrate the wide range of possible applications of the proposed method. We also show a comparison between some of our thin-shell solutions and three-dimensional isothermal gasdynamic simulations of the flows. These comparisons are used as an evaluation of the applicability of our thin-shell solutions to the real flows.  相似文献

Zahn’s theory of dynamical tides is analyzed critically. We compare the results of this theory with our numerical calculations for stars with a convective core and a radiative envelope and with masses of one and a half and two solar masses. We show that for a binary system consisting of stars of one and a half or two solar masses and a point object with a mass equal to the solar mass and with an orbital period of one day under the assumption of a dense spectrum and moderately rapid dissipation, the evolution time scales of the semimajor axis will be shorter than those in Zahn’s theory by several orders of magnitude.  相似文献

We perform N -body simulations of encounters between spherical systems surrounded by a spherical halo. Following a preceding paper with a similar aim, the initial systems include a spherical Jaffe model for the luminous matter and a Hernquist model for the halo. The merger remnants from this sample are mainly slowly rotating, prolate spheroids with a radially anisotropic velocity distribution. The results are compared with real-life ellipticals and with the models without halo in Paper I. We argue that elliptical galaxies with evidence of dark matter could be formed in the field via a merger of spheroids surrounded by a dark matter halo, while ellipticals with no evidence of dark matter might be formed via a merger of two spheroids in a cluster.  相似文献

Using a consistent perturbation theory for collisionless disk-like and spherical star clusters, we construct a theory of slow modes for systems having an extended central region with a nearly harmonic potential due to the presence of a fairly homogeneous (on the scales of the stellar system) heavy, dynamically passive halo. In such systems, the stellar orbits are slowly precessing, centrally symmetric ellipses (2: 1 orbits). We consider star clusters with monoenergetic distribution functions that monotonically increase with angular momentum in the entire range of angular momenta (from purely radial orbits to circular ones) or have a growing region only at low angular momenta. In these cases, there are orbits with a retrograde precession, i.e., in a direction opposite to the orbital rotation of the star. The presence of a gravitational loss-cone instability, which is also observed in systems of 1: 1 orbits in near-Keplerian potentials, is associated with such orbits. In contrast to 1: 1 systems, the loss-cone instability takes place even for distribution functions monotonically increasing with angular momentum, including those for systems with circular orbits. The regions of phase space with retrograde orbits do not disappear when the distribution function is smeared in energy. We investigate the influence of a weak inhomogeneity of a heavy halo with a density that decreases with distance from the center.  相似文献

We study the properties of power maps of solar acoustic waves filtered with direction filters and phase-velocity filters. A direction filter is used to isolate acoustic waves propagating in a narrow range of directions. The acoustic-power map of the waves filtered with a direction filter shows extended reduced-power features behind magnetic regions with respect to the wave direction. A phase-velocity filter is further applied to isolate waves with similar wave paths. In the power maps of the waves filtered with both a direction filter and a phase-velocity filter, a reduced-power image of a sunspot appears behind the sunspot with respect to the wave direction. The distance between the sunspot and the secondary image is consistent with the one-skip travel distance of the wave packet associated with the phase-velocity filter. The waves filtered with direction and phase-velocity filters at the location of the secondary image could be used to probe the sunspot. In the quiet Sun, spatial fluctuations exist in any acoustic-power map. These fluctuations are mainly caused by interference among modes with the same frequency. The fluctuations are random with two properties: They change rapidly with time, and their magnitude decreases with the square root of the number of frames used in computing the acoustic-power map.  相似文献

We investigate the quantum field theory of a Lorentz non-invariant model with a massive nonlinear dispersion relation in Minkowski space. The model involves some non-causal signals in the form of wave packets propagating with super-luminal group velocities. To avoid the problems with causality we characterize the causal sector of the theory by a cutoff condition excluding all super-luminal group velocities. It is argued that in the causal theory satisfying the energy positivity condition an Unruh’s detector moving with a constant velocity with respect to the preferred frame does not detect any particle. But in a causal theory violating energy positivity, detection of a field quanta occurs. We comment on the origin of this particle creation.  相似文献

The Moon’s physical libration in latitude generated by gravitational forces caused by the Earth’s oblateness has been examined by a vector analytical method. Libration oscillations are described by a close set of five linear inhomogeneous differential equations, the dispersion equation has five roots, one of which is zero. A complete solution is obtained. It is revealed that the Earth’s oblateness: a) has little effect on the instantaneous axis of Moon’s rotation, but causes an oscillatory rotation of the body of the Moon with an amplitude of 0.072″ and pulsation period of 16.88 Julian years; b) causes small nutations of poles of the orbit and of the ecliptic along tight spirals, which occupy a disk with a cut in a center and with radius of 0.072″. Perturbations caused by the spherical Earth generate: a) physical librations in latitude with an amplitude of 34.275″; b) nutational motion for centers of small spiral nutations of orbit (ecliptic) pole over ellipses with semi-major axes of 113.850″ (85.158″) and the first pole rotates round the second one along a circle with radius of 28.691″; c) nutation of the Moon’s celestial pole over an ellipse with a semi-major axis of 45.04″ and with an axes ratio of about 0.004 with a period of T = 27.212 days. The principal ellipse’s axis is directed tangentially with respect to the precession circumference, along which the celestial pole moves nonuniformly nearly in one dimension. In contrast to the accepted concept, the latitude does not change while the Moon’s poles of rotation move. The dynamical reason for the inclination of the Moon’s mean equator with respect to the ecliptic is oblateness of the body of the Moon.  相似文献

The time-dependent interaction of the granulation velocity field with a magnetic flux tube is investigated here. It is seen that when a magnetic field line is displaced normal to itself so as to simulate thebuffeting action of granules, a flow of gas is initiated along the field. By choosing a lateral velocity field which is consistent with observations of granules, it is found that the resulting gas motion is a downward flow with a velocity compatible with the observed downflow in isolated photospheric flux tubes. It is therefore proposed that the observed photospheric downflow is a manifestation of the interaction of granules with flux tubes.  相似文献

High resolution observations of horizontal proper motions, as well as vertical Doppler velocities measured over two selected regions of small scale magnetic elements show a coherent behaviour. In a region with two opposite polarities, approching with a velocity of 0.4 km s-1, the material in between moves downwards with a velocity of 0.10 to 0.45 km s-1; while in a region with two peaks of the same polarity, moving apart with a velocity of 0.3 km s-1, the material in between moves predominantly upwards, with a velocity of up to 0.3 km s-1.  相似文献

The dependence of the ellipticity of nearby optical galaxies associated with extragalactic radio sources on the type of radio galaxy is considered. It is shown that elliptical galaxies identified with radio galaxies of the FRI type and with radio sources having a radio image with a small elongation have a smaller ellipticity, on the average, than those associated with radio galaxies of the FRII type and with radio sources with greater elongation. As one possible explanation for this phenomenon, one can assume that the optical galaxies associated with radio galaxies of type FRI and with radio sources of small elongation are oriented in space so that they are observed edge-on relatively rarely.  相似文献

Recent results of Milagro, Tibet, ARGO-YBJ, and IceCube experiments on the small-scale anisotropy of Galactic cosmic rays (CRs) with energies from units up to a few hundred TeV arise a question on a possible nature of the observed phenomenon, as well as on the anisotropy of CRs at higher energies. An analysis of a small-scale anisotropy of CRs with energies at around PeV registered with the EAS MSU array presented in the article, reveals a number of regions with an excessive flux. A typical size of the regions varies from 3° up to 12°. We study correlation of these regions with positions of potential astrophysical sources of CRs and discuss a possible origin of the observed anisotropy.  相似文献

The equilibrium of elliptical Riemann disks with a polytropic equation of state and their evolution under the influence of viscosity and gravitational radiation inside spheroidal halos with a relative surface mass density k. We consider the infrared brightness of a flattened comet belt beyond the orbit of Neptune using a disk-like model with a power-law density distribution of comets. We compare this spectrum with the emission from a model zodiacal dust cloud in the ecliptic and with published IRAS data and present some consequences of dust in the comet belt.  相似文献

Simple models of potential based on material points and material segments are confronted with a homogeneous ellipsoid potential. A spheroid is approximated with a pair of material points or with one material segment. The segment model proves to be more accurate. For a triaxial ellipsoid, two models are considered: one with five material points and one with two material segments and a point. When their parameters are determined with the fourth sectorial harmonic ignored, both simple models have a similar approximation error. Numerical tests indicate that the approximate models of a triaxial ellipsoid are 5 to 10 times faster than exact formulation, whereas for a spheroid the approximate models are at most twice as fast as the exact formulae.  相似文献

We investigate the interaction of a protostellar magnetosphere with a large-scale magnetic field threading the surrounding accretion disc. It is assumed that a stellar dynamo generates a dipolar-type field with its magnetic moment aligned with the disc magnetic field. This leads to a magnetic neutral line at the disc mid-plane and gives rise to magnetic reconnection, converting closed protostellar magnetic flux into open field lines. These are simultaneously loaded with disc material, which is then ejected in a powerful wind. This process efficiently brakes down the protostar to 10–20 per cent of the break-up velocity during the embedded phase.  相似文献

We have observed the eclipsing low-mass X-ray binary MS 1603.6+2600 with Chandra for 7 ks. The X-ray spectrum is well fit with a single absorbed power law with an index of ∼2. We find a clear sinusoidal modulation in the X-ray light curve with a period of  1.7 ± 0.2 h  , consistent with the period of 1.85 h found before. However, no (partial) eclipses were found. We argue that if the X-ray flare observed in earlier X-ray observations was a type I X-ray burst, then the source can only be an accretion disc corona source at a distance of ∼11–24 kpc (implying a height above the Galactic disc of ∼8–17 kpc). It has also been proposed in the literature that MS 1603.76+2600 is a dipper at ∼75 kpc. We argue that, in this dipper scenario, the observed optical properties of MS 1603.6+2600 are difficult to reconcile with the optical properties one would expect on the basis of comparisons with other high-inclination, low-mass X-ray binaries, unless the X-ray flare was not a type I X-ray burst. In that case, the source can be a nearby soft X-ray transient accreting at a quiescent rate, as was proposed by Hakala et al., or a high-inclination source at ∼15–20 kpc.  相似文献

This paper deals with the plane motion of a star in the gravitational field of a system which is in a steady state and rotates with a constant angular velocity. For these systems a class of potentials permitting a local integral, linear with respect to the velocity components, has been found. The concept of the local integral itself was introduced by one of the authors of the present paper (Antonov, 1981). A detailed model has been constructed. The corresponding domain of the particle motion and the form of the trajectory coils have been determined. The result is compared with the motion in a more realistic potential.  相似文献

在对不同光度星系大尺度分布进行空间两点相关函数分析的基础上,仍以CfA红移巡天资料为样本,对不同光度星系分布进行了交叉相关分析。结果表明,不同光度星系间的交叉相关函数仍可近似地以幂函数表示,说明不同光度星系在空间是一起成团的。但在较小尺度上((?)4—6Mpc),光度较高的星系间相关更强,而在更大一些尺度上光度较高的星系间相关减弱更快,甚至变得比与光度较低星系间的相关更弱。结合前面对自相关函数分析的结果可以看到,统计上看来,星系分布形成群和团。群或团中亮的星系形成更致密的分布而较暗的星系则在这些群和团中分布较弥散。此结果表明星系光度和其环境(密度)有关,从而从观测上为Biased星系形成理论提供了一个可能的证据。  相似文献
