An advanced elasto‐plastic constitutive model for frictional materials, whose incremental version is presented in a companion paper (Int. J. Numer. Anal. Meth. Geomech., 2002; 26 :647), is implemented in a user‐defined material module. The general calculation strategy inside this module is presented and discussed, including the initial intersection of the yield surface and the techniques for updating of stresses and hardening modulus. Several integration schemes are implemented in the module and their capabilities in relation to the advanced, three‐dimensional constitutive model are evaluated. The forward Euler, modified Euler, and Runge–Kutta–Dormand–Prince integration schemes are explained in detail, compared, and evaluated in view of error tolerances and computational efficiency. The governing equations for an elasto‐plastic constitutive model for frictional materials such as soil, rock, and concrete are presented, and the incremental form is indicated in preparation for implementation of the model in a user‐defined module for finite element calculations. This isotropic, work‐hardening and ‐softening model employs a single yield surface, it incorporates non‐associated plastic flow, and its capability of capturing the behaviour of different types of frictional materials under various three‐dimensional conditions has been demonstrated by comparison with measured behaviour, as presented in the literature. The incrementalization procedure is indicated and the resulting equations for the single hardening model are presented together with parameters for a dense sand. Following the implementation of the model, these parameters are used for evaluation of different integration schemes as presented in a companion paper by Jakobsen and Lade (Int. J. Numer. Anal. Meth. Debris flow is a very common and destructive natural hazard in mountainous regions. Pore water pressure is the major triggering factor in the initiation of debris flow. Excessive pore water pressure is also observed during the runout and deposition of debris flow. Debris materials are normally treated as solid particle–viscous fluid mixture in the constitutive modeling. A suitable constitutive model which can capture the solid-like and fluid-like behavior of solid–fluid mixture should have the capability to describe the developing of pore water pressure (or effective stresses) in the initiation stage and determine the residual effective stresses exactly. In this paper, a constitutive model of debris materials is developed based on a framework where a static portion for the frictional behavior and a dynamic portion for the viscous behavior are combined. The frictional behavior is described by a hypoplastic model with critical state for granular materials. The model performance is demonstrated by simulating undrained simple shear tests of saturated sand, which are particularly relevant for the initiation of debris flows. The partial and full liquefaction of saturated granular material under undrained condition is reproduced by the hypoplastic model. The viscous behavior is described by the tensor form of a modified Bagnold’s theory for solid–fluid suspension, in which the drag force of the interstitial fluid and the particle collisions are considered. The complete model by combining the static and dynamic parts is used to simulate two annular shear tests. The predicted residual strength in the quasi-static stage combined with the stresses in the flowing stage agrees well with the experimental data. The non-quadratic dependence between the stresses and the shear rate in the slow shear stage for the relatively dense specimens is captured.  相似文献

堆石料的强度变形特性与初始孔隙及应力状态等因素相关。建立了能够预测不同初始孔隙与初始围压影响的堆石料弹塑性本构模型。在剑桥类本构模型框架内,模型能够反映随着孔隙与围压的增大,变形特性由剪胀趋于剪缩的规律。模型采用了基于颗粒体材料细观结构变化的屈服函数和非关联流动准则,提出了能够反映堆石料正常固结线不唯一的硬化参数。为了反映状态相关性,假定堆石料存在唯一的临界状态面,探讨了考虑状态相关性需要满足的数学条件,从而对剪胀方程与硬化参数进行了修正。提出了基于粒子群优化算法的模型参数快速确定方法,将某筑坝堆石料不同初始孔隙比与围压条件下模型预测结果与三轴试验结果对比,验证了模型的合理性。  相似文献

Studies in the past have tried to reproduce the mechanical behaviour of granular materials by proposing constitutive relations based on a common assumption that model parameters and parameters describing the properties, including gradation of individual grains are inevitably linked. However successful these models have proved to be, they cannot account for the changes in granular assembly behaviour if the grains start to break during mechanical loading. This paper proposes to analyse the relation between grading change and the mechanical behaviour of granular assembly. A way to model the influence of grain breakage is to use a critical state‐based model. The influence of the amount of grain breakage during loading, depending on the individual grain strength and size distribution, can be introduced into constitutive relations by means of a new parameter that controls the evolution of critical state with changes in grain size distribution. Experimental data from a calcareous sand, a quartz sand, and a rockfill material were compared with numerical results and good‐quality simulations were obtained. The main consequences of grain breakage are increased compressibility and a gradual dilatancy disappearance in the granular material. The critical state concept is also enriched by considering its overall relation to the evolution of the granular material. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

高应力水平时堆石料的颗粒破碎对其强度和变形机制有重要影响。临界状态土力学理论对重塑土的应力-应变关系的描述较为成功,但目前颗粒破碎对堆石料的临界状态的影响及其数学描述鲜有研究。对堆石料进行了固结应力从0.4 MPa到4 MPa的18组固结排水和固结不排水常规三轴压缩试验,以及6组等向压缩试验。试验结果表明:在排水条件和不排水条件下,不同的固结应力试样都趋于临界状态;堆石料的临界状态在q-p′平面和e-lgp′平面均为非线性变化。基于此试验结果,通过引入状态参数,在广义塑性力学的理论框架下,建立了考虑颗粒破碎的堆石料本构模型,并给出了模型参数的确定方法。与长河坝料的试验进行了对比,结果表明所建议的本构模型可以较好地模拟堆石料从低围压0.4 MPa到高围压 3.5 MPa下的应力-应变特性  相似文献

研究了Gudehus-Bauer亚塑性本构模型和模型参数的求取方法。采用侧限压缩试验曲线求取模型参数颗粒硬度hs和指数n。根据模型方程的推导,建立了拟合指数 和 与围压之间的关系,并提出了新的拟合参数。考虑到堆石料具有明显的剪胀、剪缩性,在Gudehus-Bauer模型线性项中增加了主要控制体积应变项 ,以改善模型对堆石料体积应变曲线的描述。采用堆石料大型侧限压缩试验、常规三轴试验分别验证了新的拟合参数和改进后的Gudehus-Bauer亚塑性本构模型。与堆石料试验成果比较,提出的新拟合参数与改进后的Gudehus-Bauer亚塑性本构模型可以较好地模拟堆石料的应力-应变特性,并较好地改善了堆石料体变曲线的模拟结果。对改进后的模型作了常规三轴加、卸载模拟,模拟结果反映了改进的Gudehus-Bauer亚塑性本构模型具有一定的卸载适应性。  相似文献

建立准确合理的接触面本构模型是研究桩基承载力、沉降及变形等问题的前提。考虑桩-土界面初始剪切刚度的深度效应,提出基于统计损伤本构模型的无厚度接触面本构模型,根据剪切试验的数据对改进的接触面本构模型参数进行拟合,得到了不同法向应力下的模拟曲线。利用FLAC3D软件内嵌的FISH语言,对桩-土界面进行改进本构模型的二次开发,提出的无厚度接触面模型合理地模拟出桩-土界面刚度的非线性,成功实现了桩-土剪切试验过程的数值模拟。计算结果表明:提出的无厚度接触面本构模型能够合理地模拟桩-土界面的力学行为,可以描述接触面刚度的非线性变化,也适于程序化计算,拓展了接触面统计损伤本构模型的应用领域,为深入探讨桩基承载变形性状奠定了基础。  相似文献

Based on review and evaluation of a large number of test data, a general three-dimensional plastic potential function expressed in terms of stress invariants is proposed. Three parameter values are required in this function, but one is redundant with one of the failure surface parameters. The plastic potential surface resembles an asymmetric cigar in the principal stress space. It includes tensile behavior of materials with effective cohesion. Its capabilities are examined by comparisons with experimental data from two- and three-dimensional tests on different frictional materials.  相似文献

A constitutive model for granular materials is developed within the framework of strain–hardening elastoplasticity, aiming at describing some of the macroscopic effects of the degradation processes associated with grain crushing. The central assumption of the paper is that, upon loading, the frictional properties of the material are modified as a consequence of the changes in grain size distribution. The effects of these irreversible microscopic processes are described macroscopically as accumulated plastic strain. Plastic strain drives the evolution of internal variables which model phenomenologically the changes of mechanical properties induced by grain crushing by controlling the geometry of the yield locus and the direction of plastic flow. An application of the model to Pozzolana Nera is presented. The stress–dilatancy relationship observed for this material is used as a guidance for the formulation of hardening laws. One of the salient features of the proposed model is its capability of reproducing the stress–dilatancy behaviour observed in Pozzolana Nera, for which the minimum value of dilatancy always follows the maximum stress ratio experienced by the material. A unified constitutive model for the behavior of frictional materials is described. The model is based on concepts from elasticity and plasticity theories. In addition to Hooke's law for the elastic behavior, the framework for the plastic behavior consists of a failure criterion, a nonassociated flow rule, a yield criterion that describes contours of equal plastic work, and a work-hardening/softening law. The functions that describe these components are all expressed in terms of stress invariants. The model incorporates twelve parameters which can all be determined from simple experiments such as isotropic compression and conventional triaxial compression tests. Validation of the model is achieved by comparison of predicted and measured stress-strain curves for various two- and three-dimensional stress-paths obtained for different types of frictional materials.  相似文献

Joints in geological materials introduce elastic compliance and weak planes on which sliding can occur. Although these materials can have multiple joint sets, they often have preferred orientations that cause both elastic and inelastic anisotropic response even when the unjointed material is isotropic. Azimuthal variations in radial velocity and polarity of tangential motion have been observed in experimental data for wave propagation caused by an initially spherical source in a geological material with multiple joint sets. This observed tangential ground motion was found to be related to mechanical anisotropy caused by preferred orientations of joints in the rock. This paper describes thermomechanical continuum constitutive equations, which model the effects of multiple persistent joint sets. A number of quasi‐static examples are considered, which show that the proposed model predicts anisotropic effects of sliding on multiple joint sets similar to those exhibited by computationally expensive mesoscale calculations, which model joint sets explicitly.  相似文献

The mechanical behavior of expansive soils varies according to the chemical composition of the pore fluid. It is well known that electrochemical phenomena on the surface of clay mineral crystals considerably affect their macrostructural behavior. In particular, a change in the pore fluid composition causes osmotic consolidation or swelling. In this study, a model is constructed to describe the characteristic behavior of expansive soils by coupling the interlaminar behavior of clay mineral crystals and the soil skeleton behavior. The interlaminar behavior is derived from the electro-chemo-mechanical coupling equilibrium of mineral crystals, and the soil skeleton behavior is given by a general elastoplastic constitutive model for soils. This modeling approach extends a general model to consider the electro-chemo-mechanical phenomena of mineral crystals. Oedometer tests with the replacement of the cell fluid and the swelling pressure and deformation tests on expansive clays are simulated with the proposed model. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method can reasonably represent the typical behavior of expansive soils.  相似文献

In the context of the recently developed breakage mechanics that is based on thermodynamics principles, this paper presents a mathematical modelling procedure to implement the simple (i.e., linear elastoplastic) breakage constitutive model using finite element analysis (FEA) with illustrations by engineering applications. More informative mathematical derivation procedures of energy dissipations, plastic potential, yield function and non-associated flow rules are presented. In contrast, the existing relevant publications often lack sufficient elaboration, leaving knowledge gaps in the full understanding the model. This is followed by a series of numerical simulations in ABAQUS to test the model at the constitutive level. Various isotropic and triaxial shear tests in drained or undrained conditions are tested to illustrate the key features of the breakage model, which seem to be overlooked in the literature. Finally, a few numerical results are compared with experimental shear tests to demonstrate the ability of the simple breakage model in reflecting mechanical responses of crushable granular aggregates.  相似文献
