Nickeliferous laterite ores from two typical central Greece deposits (Larymna and Evia), currently used in the LARCO GMMSA smelting plant to produce ferronickel, were characterized using a combination of diffraction, microscopic, and analytical techniques. X-ray diffraction patterns of various fractions, with emphasis to the clayey material (<2 μm), after glycolation and heating at 550 °C, indicated that both materials contain crystalline Fe3+ oxide (hematite) and chlorite-group phyllosilicates, whereas the Evia sample contains additional illite. Transmission electron microscopy investigations revealed that the LARCO laterite ores consist of complex nanoscale aggregates of the above-mentioned phases. Different Ni-bearing Mg-Fe-phyllosilicates (mainly chlorite-group minerals), occur in mixture with hematite. Nickel is present in all examined phases, and therefore the separation of pure Ni-phases, by physical or chemical methods, is practically unfeasible. Trace element bulk analyses showed that there no significant differences, with regarding to Ni content concentrations (ca. 0.6–0.7 wt.%), between the initial ore and the clay fraction, for both the Larymna and Evia laterites (ca. 30% and 26% wt.% enrichment respectively). However, the Larymna ore contains double quantities of Co and it is enriched in rare earths compared to Evia (ΣREE = 774 ppm and 76 ppm respectively), while Sc concentrations are comparable in both mining areas (64 ppm and 42 ppm respectively). Discrimination diagrams (e.g. Th/Sc vs. Zr/Sc and Ce/Ce* vs. Eu/Eu*) showed that LARCO laterite Ni-ores do not exclusively originate in ultrabasic -ophiolitic- rocks as previously considered.  相似文献

The authors have studied the geology, geochemistry, petrology and mineralogy of the rare earth elements (REE) occurring in the Western Keivy peralkaline granite massif (Kola Peninsula, NW Russia) aged 2674 ± 6 Ma. The massif hosts Zr- and REE-rich areas with economic potential (e.g. the Yumperuaiv and Large Pedestal Zr-REE deposits), where 25% of ΣREE are represented by heavy REE (HREE). The main REE minerals are: chevkinite-(Ce), britholite-(Y) and products of their metamict decay, bastnäsite-(Ce), allanite-(Ce), fergusonite-(Y), monazite-(Ce), and others. The areas contain also significant quantities of zircon reaching potentially economic levels. We have discovered that behavior of REE and Zr is controlled by alkalinity of melt/solution, which, in turn, is controlled by crystallization of alkaline pyroxenes (predominantly aegirine) and amphiboles (predominantly arfvedsonite) at a late magmatic stage. Crystallization of mafic minerals leads to a sharp increase of K2O content and decrease of SiO2 content that cause a decrease of melt viscosity and REE and Zr solubility in the liquid. Therefore, REE and zirconium immediately precipitate as zircon and REE-minerals. There are numerous pod- and lens-like granitic pegmatites within the massif. Pegmatites in the REE-rich areas are also enriched in REE, but HREE prevails over light REE (LREE), about 88% of REE sum.  相似文献

云南陇川龙安稀土矿是云南境内唯一开采的离子吸附型稀土(iREE)矿床,其成矿母岩为邦棍尖山花岗岩。近年来该花岗岩风化壳中相继发现了一系列iREE矿化点甚至矿床,其中不乏重稀土(HREE)矿。本文选取邦棍尖山南段的花岗岩进行岩石学、矿物学、地球化学和年代学等研究工作,并探讨其对iREE(甚至离子吸附型重稀土(iHREE))成矿的制约。邦棍尖山岩体的主要岩性为黑云母二长花岗岩,本研究测得花岗岩锆石U-Pb年龄为50.33 Ma(50.33±0.30 Ma, MSWD=0.15),形成于喜山期(古近纪),是目前发现的成矿母岩最年轻的iREE矿床。花岗岩具有以下地球化学特征:高硅高碱、低铁低镁,A/CNK>1.1,高钾-强过铝质,S型。岩体轻稀土(LREE)相对富集,轻重稀土分异较强烈(LREE/HREE为2.54~8.98),Eu负异常(δEu=0.06~0.17);微量元素显示出高Rb、Th,低Ba、Nb、Sr、Zr、Hf、Ti的特征,岩浆岩高度分异。邦棍尖山花岗岩中的(含)稀土矿物主要是榍石(∑REE=14506.24×10-6,LREE/HREE=1.14,...  相似文献

贪褐帘石正、副片麻岩是苏鲁地体重要的超高压变质岩石.矿物包体激光拉曼鉴定、阴极发光图像分析、锆石微区LA-ICP-MS成分测试及SHRIMP U-Pb定年结果表明,含褐帘石正、副片麻岩中的锆石具有明显的三层结构.即弱发光效应的继承性(碎屑或岩浆结晶)锆石的核、强发光效应的含柯石英变质增生幔部和弱发光效应的退变边.继承性岩浆结晶锆石核部记录了新元古代(>810Ma)的原岩形成年龄,含柯石英锆石微区记录了241~223Ma的超高压变质年龄(正、副片麻岩的加权平均年龄分别为230±7Ma和229±7Ma),锆石的退变边记录了217~200Ma的角闪岩相退变质年龄(正、副片麻岩的加权平均年龄分别为211±3Ma和210±2Ma),由此限定苏鲁地体构造抬升速率为5.3km/Myr,表明苏鲁超高压岩石经历了一个相对快速抬升的变质演化过程.与苏鲁-大别其它超高压岩石变质增生锆石对比,含褐帘石正、副片麻岩中的超高压变质增生锆石微区具有十分独特的地球化学性质,主要表现为重稀土元素(HREE)明显富集,U含量明显偏低(10~29×10-6),而Th/U比值则明显偏高(0.45~0.92).HREE的明显富集与寄主岩石普遍存在超高压矿物褐帘石(富集轻稀土元素)有关,而低U含量和高Th/U比值的特点则表明超高压峰期变质阶段处在高氧逸度(fO2)的体系环境.  相似文献

Sedimentary biogenic silica from Redeyef in Gafsa basin (southern Tunisia) was analysed for its 29Si and 27Al magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (MAS NMR) spectra and complemented by X-ray diffraction and SEM observations. The 29Si MAS NMR spectrum is characterized by the abundance of hydroxylated silicon, displayed in resonance intensities and reflects a clear tendency towards dissolution of diatomaceous amorphous silica and the occurrence of the hydrated silica, which is the main component that ensures the diagenetic transition via the mechanism of dissolution–precipitation to other more crystalline silica phases, after the lost of its hydroxyls groups (water) by heating (burial). 27Al MAS NMR reveals two coordinations of Al; the octahedrally coordinated Al suggests the presence of clay relics trapped during crystal growth or a microcrystalline zeolite (clinoptilolite detected by SEM observations), while the tetrahedrally coordinated Al suggests the presence of minor quantities of minerals with tetrahedral Al, such as an Al-rich fluid and/or minerals such as feldspars.  相似文献

The aim of this study was to investigate the accumulation of arsenic (As) in and on roots of Zea mays (maize) and Helianthus annuus (sunflower) by means of synchrotron-based micro-focused X-ray fluorescence imaging (μ-XRF). Plant and soil samples were collected from two field sites in the Hetao Plain (Inner Mongolia, China) which have been regularly irrigated with As-rich groundwater. Detailed μ-XRF element distribution maps were generated at the Fluo-beamline of the Anka synchrotron facility (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) to assess the spatial distribution of As in thin sections of plant roots and soil particles. The results showed that average As concentrations in the roots (14.5–27.4 mg kg−1) covered a similar range as in the surrounding soil, but local maximum root As concentrations reached up to 424 mg kg−1 (H. annuus) and 1280 mg kg−1 (Z. mays), respectively. Importantly, the results revealed that As had mainly accumulated at the outer rhizodermis along with iron (Fe). We therefore conclude that thin crusts of Fe-(hydr)oxides cover the roots and act as an effective barrier to As, similar to the formation of Fe plaque in rice roots. In contrast to permanently flooded rice paddy fields, regular flood irrigation results in variable redox conditions within the silty and loamy soils at our study site and fosters the formation of Fe-(hydr)oxide plaque on the root surfaces.  相似文献

Twenty-one surficial sand samples from the Altar Desert coastal and desert dune systems were analysed for rare earth elements (REE) content. This was done to observe the provenance signatures for four strategic dune localities near the Colorado River Delta, the El Pinacate dune fields, and the beaches of the north of the Gulf of California in the state of Sonora, Mexico. Our goals are to show which mechanisms (i.e., aeolian, marine) exert more influence on the composition of the Altar Desert dune sands. This study also shows the usefulness of REE spatial distribution to determine the relative mobility of the sand. Some sand samples from the dune systems in San Luis Río Colorado (SLRC), Golfo de Santa Clara (GSC), and Puerto Peñasco (PP) displayed dissimilar REE concentrations with respect to the rest of the sand samples from the same sites. These differences can be related to short aeolian transport distance in the sands with high REE concentrations and long aeolian transport distance in the sands with low REE concentrations. Besides, high REE concentration in the sands might be due to their closeness to the Colorado River Delta sediments and to recycled sands derived from granitic rocks. In contrast, all the sand samples from the El Pinacate (EP) site have similar REE concentration values, suggesting that the El Pinacate dune sands are influenced by more selective aeolian processes and less diverse heavy mineral content. The Altar Desert dune sands are derived from granitic sources eroded by the Colorado River. Our results also indicate that the Altar Desert dune sands are low in heavy mineral content (with the exception of Fe and Ti bearing minerals) and enriched in carbonates with phosphates (especially at the PP site) yielding poor correlations between REE and major element concentrations. The REE geographical distribution values in the Altar Desert dune sands indicate that light and heavy REE concentration values are related to aeolian transport, maturity of the sands, their low weathering rates, proximity of the source rocks, and the biogenic debris input from beach sands into the dune.  相似文献

The Mount Athos Peninsula is situated in the south-easternmost part of the Chalkidiki Peninsula in northern Greece. It belongs to the Serbo-Macedonian Massif (SMM), a large basement massif within the Internal Hellenides. The south-eastern part of the Mount Athos peninsula is built by fine-grained banded biotite gneisses and migmatites forming a domal structure. The southern tip of the peninsula, which also comprises Mount Athos itself, is built by limestone, marble and low-grade metamorphic rocks of the Chortiatis Unit. The northern part and the majority of the western shore of the Mount Athos peninsula are composed of highly deformed rocks belonging to a tectonic mélange termed the Athos-Volvi-Suture Zone (AVZ), which separates two major basement units: the Vertiskos Terrane in the west and the Kerdillion Unit in the east. The rock-types in this mélange range from metasediments, marbles and gneisses to amphibolites, eclogites and peridotites. The gneisses are tectonic slivers of the adjacent basement complexes. The mélange zone and the gneisses were intruded by granites (Ierissos, Ouranoupolis and Gregoriou). The Ouranoupolis intrusion obscures the contact between the mélange and the gneisses. The granites are only slightly deformed and therefore postdate the accretionary event that assembled the units and created the mélange. Pb–Pb- and U–Pb-SHRIMP-dating of igneous zircons of the gneisses and granites of the eastern Athos peninsula in conjunction with geochemical and isotopic analyses are used to put Athos into the context of a regional tectonic model. The ages form three clusters: The basement age is indicated by two samples that yielded Permo-Carboniferous U–Pb-ages of 292.6?±?2.9?Ma and 299.4?±?3.5?Ma. The main magmatic event of the granitoids now forming the gneiss dome is dated by Pb–Pb-ages between 140.0?±?2.6?Ma and 155.7?±?5.1?Ma with a mean of 144.7?±?2.4?Ma. A within-error identical age of 146.6?±?2.3?Ma was obtained by the U–Pb-SHRIMP method. This Late Jurassic age is also known from the Kerdillion Unit and the Rhodope Terrane. The rather undeformed granites are interpreted as piercing plutons. The small granite stocks sampled have Late Cretaceous to Early Tertiary ages of 66.8?±?0.8?Ma and 68.0?±?1.0?Ma (U–Pb-SHRIMP)/62.8?±?3.9?Ma (Pb–Pb). The main accretionary event was according to these data in the Late Jurassic since all younger rocks show little or no deformation. The age distribution together with the geochemical and isotopic signature and the lithology indicates that the eastern part of the Mount Athos peninsula is part of a large-scale gneiss dome also building the Kerdillion Unit of the eastern SMM and the Rhodope Massif. This finding extends the area of this dome significantly to the south and indicates that the tectonic boundary between the SMM and the Rhodope Massif lies within the AVZ.  相似文献

Coastal dune (CD) and beach sand samples were mineralogically and chemically studied to assess the weathering rates in a coastal area surrounded by the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt (TMVB). The study area is a narrow coastal plain with sub-humid warm weather and vigorous coastal dynamics located in the Western Gulf of Mexico (WGM). Our results show that the grain size parameters remain homogeneous along nine CD and beach sites, probably due to the hydrodynamic mechanisms prevailing in the area, i.e. wind deflation, longshore currents, and waves. The minerals found in the CD and beach sands are enriched in recycled, highly corroded monocrystalline quartz (Qm), with loss of plagioclase (P) and olivine (ol), with ilmenite fractions (op) especially in the northern sites. The geochemical data show that the sands are controlled by the exhumation of the TMVB rocks composed of a high volcanic lithic content with lathwork, microlithic, and negligible vitric textures. These volcanic fractions are in agreement with the presence of lavas of calc alkaline, andesite, Na-alkaline lavas, and rhyolite tuffs derived from the TMVB. Significant Spearman Rank Correlations (SRCs) resulted from high silica, titanium, iron, magnesium, calcium, vanadium, chromium, cobalt, associated with the presence of Qm, ilmenite, clinopyroxene, shell fragments, and volcanic lithics. Monocrystalline quartz enrichments, compared to a quartz dilution effect (<Qm; < Qm) at the northern and southern beach sites, reflect the vigorous coastal dynamics. The presence of ilmenite lag deposits in the northern sites indicate that high energy hydrodynamic conditions prevail at the site. The rare earth element (REE) patterns support the mineralogical and compositional framework of the CD and beach sands as part of the TMVB exhumation. We used various chemical indices such as the Chemical Index of Alteration (CIA), the Chemical Index of Weathering (CIW), the Plagioclase Index of Alteration (PIA), and the Weathering Index of Plagioclase (WIP). The WIP values reflect the depletion of mobile elements such as Ca, Na, K, and enrichment of Qm at the northern beach sites, e.g. the Istirinchiá site. The CIA/WIP ratio of 2.13 indicates intermediate weathering under warm climatic conditions and recycling of CD and beach sands.  相似文献

为了研究辽西义县萤石矿床的成矿机理及成矿流体来源,文章对矿区萤石稀土元素进行了分析。结果表明:2种类型的萤石为同源不同阶段的产物,从成矿早期至晚期,LREE逐渐减少,Ce负异常由弱变强,Eu则均显明显的正异常;矿床成矿流体主要来源于中侏罗世髫髻山旋回岩浆热液;成矿过程为岩浆热液与围岩(主要为白云质灰岩和灰岩)的相互作用,并有天水的混入;成矿环境相对氧化。  相似文献

Due to the combined influences such as ore-forming temperature, fluid and metal sources, sphalerite tends to incorporate diverse contents of trace elements during the formation of different types of Lead-zinc (Pb-Zn) deposits. Therefore, trace elements in sphalerite have long been utilized to distinguish Pb-Zn deposit types. However, previous discriminant diagrams usually contain two or three dimensions, which are limited to revealing the complicated interrelations between trace elements of sphalerite and the types of Pb-Zn deposits. In this study, we aim to prove that the sphalerite trace elements can be used to classify the Pb-Zn deposit types and extract key factors from sphalerite trace elements that can discriminate Pb-Zn deposit types using machine learning algorithms. A dataset of nearly 3600 sphalerite spot analyses from 95 Pb-Zn deposits worldwide determined by LA-ICP-MS was compiled from peer-reviewed publications, containing 12 elements (Mn, Fe, Co, Cu, Ga, Ge, Ag, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, and Pb) from 5 types, including Sedimentary Exhalative (SEDEX), Mississippi Valley Type (MVT), Volcanic Massive Sulfide (VMS), skarn, and epithermal deposits. Random Forests (RF) is applied to the data processing and the results show that trace elements of sphalerite can successfully discriminate different types of Pb-Zn deposits except for VMS deposits, most of which are falsely distinguished as skarn and epithermal types. To further discriminate VMS deposits, future studies could focus on enlarging the capacity of VMS deposits in datasets and applying other geological factors along with sphalerite trace elements when constructing the classification model. RF’s feature importance and permutation feature importance were adopted to evaluate the element significance for classification. Besides, a visualized tool, t-distributed stochastic neighbor embedding (t-SNE), was used to verify the results of both classification and evaluation. The results presented here show that Mn, Co, and Ge display significant impacts on classification of Pb-Zn deposits and In, Ga, Sn, Cd, and Fe also have relatively important effects compared to the rest elements, confirming that Pb-Zn deposits discrimination is mainly controlled by multi-elements in sphalerite. Our study hence shows that machine learning algorithm can provide new insights into conventional geochemical analyses, inspiring future research on constructing classification models of mineral deposits using mineral geochemistry data.  相似文献

To evaluate the palaeo-environmental parameters of a portion of the Sardinia–Corsica microplate during the Messinian drop in sea level, we examined the chemistry and mineralogy of upper Tortonian–lower Messinian (late Miocene) clayey continental deposits from NW Sardinia. Differences exist between the uppermost part of the succession, which is devoid of carbonate phases, and the lower part, reflecting changes in provenance and climate. The carbonate-free samples were probably derived from quartzite of the metamorphic basement and were deposited under a climate characterized by alternating dry and relatively wet periods. The other samples were derived from basement phyllite and were deposited under a warm, dry climate that promoted the capillary rise of Ca2+ and bicarbonate from a shallow water table, and therefore, the precipitation of carbonate. This part of the succession contains both calcite and dolomite. The presence of barite indicates an important concentration of SO4 2? in the solution from which the CaMg(CO3)2 precipitated. The formation of dolomite under hypersaline conditions may be explained by bacterial degradation of organic matter, which produced CO2 and ammonia, thereby increasing the solution alkalinity. The succession formed in an oxic environment, except for a calcite-rich level that formed under relatively reducing conditions. For this level, the large amount of calcite and the lack of dolomite indicate an alkaline environment and a very low Mg2+/Ca2+ ratio in the soil solution. These observations, coupled with the reducing conditions, indicate the availability of large amounts of degraded organic matter, probably related to a period typified by a wetter climate.  相似文献

利用等离子质谱(ICP-MS)测定了CCSD HP-UHP变质岩中石英脉及东海水晶的微量元素和稀土元素组成,结果显示其中微量元素总体含量很低,Bb/Sr、Nb/Ta和Zr/Hf变化很大,说明Rb和Sr、Nb和Ta、Zr和Hf之间发生了不同程度的分异,但变质岩未曾发生过广泛强烈的水岩反应.部分样品中Rb和Cs含量特别低,显示CCSD中部分石英脉可能曾经历过超高压变质过程.CCSD石英脉和东海水晶均具有LREE富集而HREE明显亏损的特征,显示其来源主要为壳源.CCSD石英脉中正负Ce异常同时出现,显示板块俯冲前,超高压变质岩的原岩曾在地表较氧化的环境下经历过强烈的风化作用.对比研究显示,CCSD不同围岩中石英脉、地表石英脉和东海水晶的微量元素N-MORB标准化模式和BEE球粒陨石标准化配分曲线,与其各自围岩具有一定的对应相似关系,表明大多数石英脉(水晶)来自于围岩,同时显示板块俯冲和折返所释放的流体活动范围较小,没有发生大规模的迁移.  相似文献

The Evate deposit represents the largest resource of apatite in south-east Africa (155 Mt. ore grading 9.3 wt.% P2O5) accumulated in up to 100 m thick magnetite-carbonate-apatite horizons conformable to the granulitic gneiss of the Monapo Klippe. Baddeleyite and zircon from early iron-oxide (magnetite, geikielite, spinel), apatite- and forsterite-bearing rocks have been dated to 590 ± 6 Ma using the LA-ICPMS U-Pb method, whereas monazites from anhydrite-apatite-carbonate rocks show a concordant U-Pb-Th age corresponding to 449 ± 2 Ma. Temperatures inferred from calcite-dolomite solvus data and graphite structural ordering span the interval from ≥ 815 to 276 °C. Primary and secondary fluid inclusions in apatite document calciocarbonatite melts associated with early apatite, and CO2-bearing sulfate-chloride brines progressively diluted with low-salinity, probably metoric waters, towards ultimate stages of the deposit formation. The calciocarbonatite melts have initially coexisted with liquid nitrogen and later with sulfate-chloride brines mixed with N2 ± CO2 gas.Crystallization of spinel around baddeleyite by the mechanism of Ostwald ripening, nucleation of graphite spherules along pyrrhotite-carbonate boundaries, the occurrence of molybdenite, baddeleyite-to-zircon transformation, and high crystallization temperatures inferred from graphite structural ordering and calcite-dolomite thermometry suggest a magmatic origin of the early mineral assemblages. In contrast, microthermometric characteristics of primary aqueous inclusions in the late apatite and the presence of zeolites (thomsonite-Ca, mezolite) is diagnostic of a low-temperature hydrothermal crystallization.Formation of the early magnetite-apatite-forsterite assemblage is thought to be coeval with mafic alkalic intrusions of the Mazerapane Suite superimposed on the granulite facies metamorphism of the Monapo Klippe. The low-temperature, anhydrite-bearing mineralization was associated with the massive circulation of sulfate-rich brines along fractures activated during the Late Cambrian-Ordovician extension. Origin of the sulfate-rich brines may be genetically related either with the magmatic-hydrothermal differentiation, or with the remobilization of crustal evaporites.  相似文献

内蒙古林西县萤石矿产资源丰富,已知萤石矿床(点)68处。萤石矿床产出于中生界火山-沉积岩地层中,矿体主要受近 SN 向或 NNE 向断裂破碎带控制。为了研究水头地区萤石矿床的成矿流体来源和成矿机理,文章对矿床稀土元素进行了分析。结果表明萤石和方解石的稀土元素总量(∑REE)为4.37-159μg/g, LREE/HREE比值为0.24-1.80,δEu =0.57-1.60,具弱Ce负异常(0.81-0.98)特征, Y/Ho比值为21-78,平均41。从成矿早阶段到晚阶段,∑REE值及LREE/HREE比值均逐渐减小,晚阶段萤石具有重新活化、重结晶的特征。结合赋矿地层及矿区外围花岗岩体REE特征分析,认为其成矿流体迁移距离较远,稀土元素和成矿元素可能来自下伏高F地体和含Ca赋矿火山-沉积地层,为热液成因-破碎带充填交代型萤石矿床。  相似文献

对准噶尔盆地东南缘中二叠统芦草沟组上、中、下三段黑色泥页岩进行稀土元素地球化学特征研究,并讨论其地质意义。结果表明,芦草沟组黑色泥页岩的稀土元素总量∑REE为(51.39~138.27)×10-6,平均值为94.23×10-6,较全球平均大陆上地壳成分(UCC)和北美页岩(NASC)的平均值均偏低。∑LREE/∑HREE、(La/Yb)N、(Ce/Yb)N等地化参数及稀土元素配分模式均反映轻、重稀土元素的明显分异,呈现LREE富集、HREE亏损的特征,趋势曲线较为平坦。黑色泥页岩具有明显的δEu负异常和弱的δCe负异常。Ce异常值均大于-0.1,反映研究区在中二叠世水体为较强且稳定的还原环境。REE的明显分异指示沉积速率总体较低,呈现逐渐变慢的趋势,反映了沉积时期水体加深的过程,这也与滨浅湖-半深湖-深湖的沉积相吻合。根据δEu的异常情况和(La/Yb)N与∑REE的关系,认为芦草沟组沉积物的母岩为沉积岩和花岗岩的混合。黑色泥页岩物源主要来自南部的伊连哈尔比尕山。  相似文献

Guichen Bay on the south‐east coast of South Australia faces west towards the prevailing westerly winds of the Southern Ocean. The bay is backed by a 4 km wide Holocene beach‐ridge plain with more than 100 beach ridges. The morphology of the Guichen Bay strandplain complex shows changes in the width, length, height and orientation of beach ridges. A combination of geomorphological interpretation, shallow geophysics and existing geochronology is used to interpret the Holocene fill of Guichen Bay. Six sets of beach ridges are identified from the interpretation of orthorectified aerial photographs. The ridge sets are distinguished on the basis of beach‐ridge orientation and continuity. A 2·25 km ground‐penetrating radar (GPR) profile across the beach ridges reveals the sedimentary structures and stratigraphic units. The beach ridges visible in the surface topography are a succession of stabilized foredunes that overlie progradational foreshore and upper shoreface sediments. The beach progrades show multiple truncation surfaces interpreted as storm events. The GPR profile shows that there are many more erosion surfaces in the subsurface than beach ridges on the surface. The width and dip of preserved beach progrades imaged by GPR shows that the shoreface has steepened from around 2·9° to around 7·5°. The changes in beach slope are attributed to increasing wave energy associated with beach progradation into deeper water as Guichen Bay was infilled. At the same time, the thickness of the preserved beach progrades increases slightly as the beach prograded into deeper water. Using the surface area of the ridge sets measured from the orthophotography, and the average thickness of upper shoreface, foreshore and coastal dune sands interpreted from the GPR profile, the volume of Holocene sediments within three of the six sets of beach‐ridge accretion has been calculated. Combining optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages and volume calculations, rates of sediment accumulation for Ridge Sets 3, 4 and 5 have been estimated. Linear rates of beach‐ridge progradation appear to decrease in the mid‐Holocene. However, the rates of sediment accumulation calculated from beach volumes have remained remarkably consistent through the mid‐ to late Holocene. This suggests that sediment supply to the beach has been constant and that the decrease in the rate of progradation is due to increasing accommodation space as the beach progrades into deeper water. Changes in beach‐ridge morphology and orientation reflect environmental factors such as changes in wave climate and wind regime.  相似文献

大连震旦系十三里台组首次发现自生稀土元素矿物独居石后 ,在北京十三陵中元古代长城系常州沟组、串岭沟组和大红峪组又发现了自生的独居石以及其他磷酸盐和硅酸盐稀土矿物。自生稀土矿物的形成和岩石中稀土元素含量较高有关 ;电子探针背散射图像和 P、Th、L a、Ce、Nd、Y等元素面分布图像研究表明 ,沉积岩中的自生稀土矿物与岩浆岩、变质岩和碎屑成因的截然不同。本文首次报道了元古宙长城系常州沟组沉积岩中碎屑锆石边部成岩过程中形成的自生磷钇矿。中国北方元古宙泥砂质碎屑沉积岩普遍具有高稀土组合 ,许多地区都可能存在独居石等自生稀土矿物 ,如天津蓟县、辽西、辽南和宣化等地 ,为利用离子探针 (SHRIMP)确定其同位素地质年代提供了可能。此外 ,本文对比了大连震旦系自生独居石和内蒙白云鄂博矿区东矿的独居石晶形和化学成分的相似性 ,再一次提出中国北方元古宙富稀土地层可能是内蒙古白云鄂博巨型稀土元素矿床的矿源层问题。  相似文献

In the Alpine-Mediterranean region, the continental redbeds and shallow-marine siliciclastics related to the early depositional phases of the Late Permian-Mesozoic continental rifting are referred to as the most common representative of the “Verrucano tectofacies”. The Verrucano-type successions exposed in southern Tuscany are diachronous, spanning from Triassic to earliest Jurassic in age, and accumulated within the Tuscan domain, a paleogeographic region of continental crust that due to the opening of the Piedmont–Ligurian ocean formed part of the Adria passive-margin. They belong to the metamorphic Verrucano Group and the non-metamorphic Pseudoverrucano fm. Viewed overall, these Verrucano-type successions appear to manifest five episodes or pulses of an ongoing continental rifting. With the exception of the first episode that developed entirely within a terrestrial setting, each one is represented by basal Verrucano-type continental siliciclastics overlain by compositionally mixed marine deposits, which resulted from four diachronous, post-Middle Triassic transgressions. This suite of tectonic pulses produced the progressive westward widening (backstepping) of the Tuscan domain in the rifting south-Tuscany area.  相似文献
