A new non-singular analytical theory for the motion of near-Earth satellite orbits with the air drag effect is developed in terms of uniformly regular KS canonical elements. Diurnally varying oblate atmosphere is considered with variation in density scale height dependent on altitude. The series expansion method is utilized to generate the analytical solutions and terms up to fourth-order terms in eccentricity and c (a small parameter dependent on the flattening of the atmosphere) are retained. Only two of the nine equations are solved analytically to compute the state vector and change in energy at the end of each revolution, due to symmetry in the equations of motion. The important drag perturbed orbital parameters: semi-major axis and eccentricity are obtained up to 500 revolutions, with the present analytical theory and by numerical integration over a wide range of perigee height, eccentricity and inclination. The differences between the two are found to be very less. A comparison between the theories generated with terms up to third- and fourth-order terms in c and e shows an improvement in the computation of the orbital parameters semi-major axis and eccentricity, up to 9%. The theory can be effectively used for the re-entry of the near-Earth objects, which mainly decay due to atmospheric drag.  相似文献

Large-eddy simulation (LES) of turbulent convection is discussed in various versions (mixing-length theory, modal theory and spectral theory) in respect to the application to stellar convective zones. For the model construction, the non-local mixing-length formalism is suitable. However, for the determination of basic flow patterns and of mixing-length, the quasi-linear and nonlinear modal theories are useful. The eddy diffusivities are essential in these theories, and the nonlinear treatment of convection consistent with turbulent diffusivities (of effective Reynolds number of about 20 and Prandtl number of 0.4) offers a simple method of constructing stellar models without the use of the mixing-length.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.  相似文献

Using N -body simulations with a large set of massless test particles, we compare the predictions of two theories of violent relaxation, the well-known Lynden-Bell theory and the more recent theory by Nakamura. We derive 'weakened' versions of both the theories in which we use the whole equilibrium coarse-grained distribution function     as a constraint instead of the total energy constraint. We use these weakened theories to construct expressions for the conditional probability   Ki (τ)  that a test particle initially at the phase-space coordinate τ would end-up in the i th macro-cell at equilibrium. We show that the logarithm of the ratio   Rij (τ) ≡ Ki (τ)/ Kj (τ)  is directly proportional to the initial phase-space density   f 0(τ)  for the Lynden-Bell theory and inversely proportional to   f 0(τ)  for the Nakamura theory. We then measure   Rij (τ)  using a set of N -body simulations of a system undergoing a gravitational collapse to check the validity of the two theories of violent relaxation. We find that both the theories are at odds with the numerical results, both qualitatively and quantitatively.  相似文献

An improved theory is presented of long period perigee motion for orbits near the critical inclinations 63.4° and 116.6°. Inclusion of lunisolar perturbations andall measured zonal harmonic coefficients from a recent Earth model are significant improvements over existing theories. Phase portraits are used to depict the interaction between eccentricity magnitude and argument of perigee. The Hamiltonian constant can be chosen as the parameter to display a family of phase plane trajectories consisting of libration, circulation, and asymptotic motion along separatrices near equilibrium points. A two parameter family of phase portraits is defined by the other two integrals, the average semimajor axis and component of angular momentum resolved along the Earth's polar axis. There are regions of the parameter space where the stability and total number of equilibria can change, or two separatrices can coalesce. These phenomena signal large qualitative changes in phase portrait topology. Numerical studies show that lunisolar perturbations control stability of equilibria for orbits with semimajor axes exceeding 1.4 Earth radii. Moreover, a theory which includes lunisolar perturbations predicts larger maximum fluctuations in eccentricity and faster oscillations near stable equilibria compared to a theory which models only the zonal harmonics.  相似文献

The new theory of Self Creation Cosmology has been shown to yield a concordant cosmological solution that does not require inflation, exotic non-baryonic Dark matter or unknown Dark Energy to fit observational constraints. In vacuo there is a conformal equivalence between this theory and canonical General Relativity and as a consequence an experimental degeneracy exists as the two theories predict identical results in the standard tests. However, there are three definitive experiments that are able to resolve this degeneracy and distinguish between the two theories. Here these standard tests and definitive experiments are described. One of the definitive predictions, that of the geodetic precession of a gyroscope, has just been measured on the Gravity Probe B satellite, which is at the present time of writing in the data processing stage. This is the first opportunity to falsify Self Creation Cosmology. The theory predicts a ‘frame-dragging’ result equal to GR but a geodetic precession of only 2/3 the GR value. When applied to the Gravity Probe B satellite, Self Creation Cosmology predicts an E–W gravitomagnetic/frame-dragging precession, equal to that of GR, of 40.9 milliarcsec/yr but a N–S gyroscope (geodetic + Thomas) precession of just 4.4096 arcsec/yr.  相似文献

A comparative review of analytic theories for the motion of Earth satellites in quasi-circular orbits written in the spherical coordinate frame is presented. The theory of motion is developed for satellites in quasi-circular and quasi-equatorial orbits subjected to geopotential, luni-solar and solar radiation pressure force perturbations. The intermediate orbit is Keplerian and the equations of motion are solved by the Lyapunov–Poincaré small parameter method. Both resonant and non-resonant cases are considered. The results can be useful for the development of a complete theory of weakly eccentric orbits.  相似文献

The traditional model of solar magnetic fields is based on convection which dominates generally weak, diffuse fields and so tends to create increasingly tangled fields. Surplus fields must be eliminated by merging of opposite polarities; for example a solar dynamo of period≈10 yr requires fields to be reduced to a scale of<100 km or diffusivity to be increased by a factor of≈107 over molecular diffusivity. It is now shown that the true requirements of any diffuse-field theory are far more stringent, and that surplus fields must be eliminated within a single eddy period of 1 day (10 min) for the supergranules (granules). The reason is that during that period fresh fields are created with flux and energy comparable with those of the old fields. The numerical models of Weiss and Moss are used to confirm this result which is fatal to all diffuse-field theories. The basic error in these theories is found in the assumption that because heat and other passive properties of a fluid diffuse much faster in the presence of turbulence, passive magnetic fields should do likewise. The error is that the heat content of an eddy is not increased by the motion while the magnetic flux and energy are increased rapidly. It is shown that the observed concentrations of surface fields into strengths of?100 G cannot be accounted for by observed surface motions. Nor are they accounted for by the numerical models of turbulence of Weiss or Moss whatever values of the magnetic Reynolds number are assumed. A detailed comparison is made between both small-scale and large-scale surface magnetic features and the predictions of the diffuse-field theory. The differences appear irreconcilable and the features only explicable in terms of the twisted flux-rope model.  相似文献

The methodology of cosmic plasma physics is discussed. It is very hazardous to try to describe plasma phenomena by theories which have not been carefully tested experimentally. One present approach is to rely on laboratory measurements andin situ measurements in the magnetosphere and heliosphere, and to approach galactic phenomena by scaling up the wellknown phenomena to galactic dimensions. A summary is given of laboratory investigations of electric double layers, a phenomenon which is known to be very important in laboratory discharges. A summary is also given of thein situ measurements in the magnetosphere by which the importance of electric double layers in the Earth's surrounding is established. The scaling laws between laboratory and magnetospheric double layers are studied. The successful scaling between laboratory and magnetospheric phenomena encourages an extrapolation to heliospheric phenomena. A further extrapolation to galactic phenomena leads to a theory of double radio sources.In analogy with the Sun which, acting as a homopolar inductor, energizes the heliospheric current system, a rotating magnetized galaxy should produce a similar current system. From analogy with laboratory and magnetospheric current systems it is argued that the galactic current might produce double layers where a large energy dissipation takes place. This leads to a theory of the double radio sources which, within the necessary wide limits of uncertainty, is quantitatively reconcilable with observations.  相似文献

Recent developments in solar dynamo and other theories of magnetic fields and convection are discussed and extended. A basic requirement of these theories, that surplus fields are eliminated by turbulent or eddy diffusion, is shown to be invalid. A second basic requirement, that strong surface fields are created by granule or supergranule motions, is shown to be improbable. Parker's new thin-filament dynamo, based on the Petschek mechanism, is shown to provide the alternative possibilities: either the magnetic fields halt all convection or a steady state is reached in which the fields are a tangle of long, thin filaments. From the above and other considerations it is concluded that the dynamo and related diffuse-field theories are unacceptable, that solar magnetic fields are not dominated by convection, and that all the fields emerge as strong, concentrated fields (flux ropes) which were wound and twisted from a permanent, primordial field. The discussion may, incidentally, provide the physical elements of a deductive theory of hydromagnetic convection.  相似文献

The physical meaning of the convection efficiency parameter of Öpik's theory is clarified by relating it to that of the mixing-length theory. A compact comparison of both theories is presented to explain the earlier findings of Gough and Weiss (1976), that Öpik's theory becomes indistinguishable from the mixing-length theory when the value of Öpik's cell depth is taken as being equal to 2.44 times the local pressure scale height for the solar convective envelope.  相似文献

We discuss in this letter a new cosmological model including both a non-linear derivative interaction and a Gauss–Bonnet invariant. The first interaction term appears in the theory with the Galilean shift symmetry, whereas the second term is motivated from string theory and plays a crucial role in Chern–Simons gravitational theories as well as in the renormalization of quantum field theories in curved spacetime. It is shown that the presence of both the cubic interaction and the Gauss–Bonnet invariant term supply amazingly prosperous cosmological phenomenologies, which are explored in some detail.  相似文献

We discuss the properties of the large-scale galactic magnetic fields which can help to discriminate between theories of their origin. We argue that the mean-field dynamo theory in its simplest form is unique in that it can explain most of the known features from a single conceptual viewpoint. We have developed a new stellar evolution and oscillation code YNEV,which calculates the structures and evolutions of stars,taking into account hydrogen and helium burning.A nonlocal turbulent convection theory and an updated overshoot mixing model are optional in this code.The YNEV code can evolve low-and intermediate-mass stars from the pre-main sequence to a thermally pulsing asymptotic branch giant or white dwarf.The YNEV oscillation code calculates the eigenfrequencies and eigenfunctions of the adiabatic oscillations for a given stellar structure.The input physics and numerical scheme adopted in the code are introduced.Examples of solar models,stellar evolutionary tracks of low-and intermediate-mass stars with different convection theories(i.e.mixing-length theory and nonlocal turbulent convection theory),and stellar oscillations are shown.  相似文献

The physical meaning of the parameters of the post-NEWTON ian approximation is considered from a theoretical point of view. It is shown that the post-NEWTON ian approximation of any LORENTZ -covariant theory, which implies POISSON equations for every metric coefficient in the linear approximation, is the member of a three-parametric family of post-NEWTON ian metrics. This report describes the distribution and morphology of sinuous rilles and presents data on rille geometry. Examples of the relation between sinuous rilles and the regional structure are given. Leading theories for the origin of sinuous rilles are discussed and evaluated. It is concluded that the general weight of evidence is against water erosion. The ash flow theory is not excluded, but evidence in its favor is weak. The best explanations involve lava tube formation for certain sinuous rilles, and faulting for others. In some cases, a gradation between faulting and igneous activity is noted.  相似文献
