The geographic characteristics of the Nemunas (Neman) River basin is presented with due consideration for the hydrological regime of this river and the Curonian Lagoon (Marios). The following geographic and hydrographic features of the Nemunas mouth area are described in detail: the landscape and climatic conditions, delta water balance, water flow distribution among branches, flow-induced changes in water levels, specific features of ice regime in the delta, storm surges, and floods.  相似文献

The main features of hydrological processes taking place in the mouth area of the Hong Ha River in Vietnam are considered. The geographic and hydrological conditions in the Hong Ha River basin and in its receiving water body—the Gulf of Tonkin, South China Sea—are briefly characterized. The main features of the mouth area of the Hong Ha River as a specific geographic object are identified. The hydrological regime of the delta and the nearshore zone of the Hong Ha River are described in detail. Water balance of the delta, runoff water levels and delta inundation, water and sediment runoff distributions over delta branches, and the effect of tides, typhoons, and storm surges on delta regime are considered. Present-day problems of the use and protection of natural resources at the Hong Ha River mouth are briefly discussed.  相似文献

Main features of sediment regime in the mouth area of the Hong Ha River (Red River), Vietnam, are discussed. As shown, the hydraulic engineering construction on the Da tributary resulted in a nearly two-fold decrease of river sediment yield. Sediment budget components at the river mouth were analyzed to establish that more than 90% of the sediment yield was detained in the delta branches and in the nearshore zone of the river mouth. Morphological processes in the Hong Ha River mouth area were characterized in detail including delta evolution during Holocene and the dynamics of its channel network, coastline, and mouth bars. Special attention was given to modern processes of delta progradation at the mouths of main branches and to wave erosion of other parts of the delta coastline. The causes for the intensification of this kind of erosion and change of the delta type in the late XX century are discussed.  相似文献

The main features of the structure and water regime of the mouth area of the Senegal River and their changes caused by river regulation in its upper reaches and within its delta area are considered. Data on water and sediment runoff of the Senegal River and their variations along the river are specified. River runoff was found to dramatically decrease in recent decades because of a drought. Zoning of river mouth area was carried out, and morphological processes in its estuary, in particular, the formation of a new outlet of the river into the ocean with the formation of a lagoon, are described.  相似文献

Monthly analyses of pH, conductance, alkalinity, total suspended solids, dissolved major cations (Na, K, Ca and Mg), and selected dissolved trace elements (Fe, Al, Mn, Cu, Zn and Cr) were conducted on waters of the lower Orinoco River from February 2004 to May 2006. The data show strong seasonal variability. Major cations had maximum concentrations at low water, and were correlated with pH, conductance and alkalinity because of the tributaries coming from the Andean zones, where the weathering of evaporites and carbonate shales controls water chemistry. K concentrations did not show any relation with evaporite weathering, probably because large amounts of K come from the Guayana Shield rivers as a consequence of feldspar weathering. The concentrations of dissolved Fe, Mn and Cu were highest during the high water stage. Concentrations of the elements K, Cr, Zn and Cu are correlated with each other but not with dissolved Fe and Al, which probably are complexed with humic and fulvic substances. Mn concentrations did not show relationships with other variables. Inter‐annual variability of dissolved elements is explained by temporal changes in precipitation. Inundation patterns in two of the largest savanna floodplains of South America were studied by analysis of the 37‐GHz polarization difference observed by the Scanning Multichannel Microwave Radiometer (Nimbus‐7 satellite). Flooded area was estimated at monthly intervals for January 1979 through to August 1987 using mixing models that account for the major landscape units with distinctive microwave emission characteristics. Results are presented separately for five subregions in each of the two floodplain regions to show the spatial as well as temporal variability in inundation patterns. The total area inundated during the 9 years varied between 2069 and 78 460 km2 in the Llanos de Moxos (also spelled as Mojos; median area, 23 383 km2) and 1278 and 105 454 km2 in the Llanos del Orinoco (median, 25 374 km2), not including the open‐water area of permanent lakes and river channels. The correlation between flooded area and river stage was used to extend the inundation records over a 30‐year period in the Moxos (1967–97) and a 58‐year period (1927–85) in the Orinoco. Interannual variability in inundation is greater in the Moxos than the Orinoco. Comparison of these data, however, with a previously published analysis of the Pantanal wetland shows that inundation patterns in these two floodplain regions are not as variable across years as they are in the Pantanal. Hydrological and morphological processes in the Zhujiang River (Pearl River) mouth area of China are discussed. The hydrological regime of the Xijiang River, which is the largest river of South China and the main source of water inflow into the Zhujiang mouth area, is described. The basic features of the hydrological regime of the delta and the near-shore zone of the Zhujiang River mouth are characterized, much attention being given to the role of tides and mixing of river and sea water in the hydrological regime. The geographical and hydrological features of the Mekong River basin and the nearshore zone of the South China Sea, which influence the hydrological regime of the Mekong River mouth, are discussed. Detailed characteristics are provided for the drainage system of the Mekong River mouth area, water flow distribution among the delta branches, processes of the delta submergence during floods, as well as propagation of tidal, surge-induced level fluctuations and seawater intrusion into the river. The main hydrological and morphological features of the Columbia River mouth area, including its tidal estuary, are discussed. Close attention is given to the characteristics of large-scale hydraulic projects in the river basin as well as to dredging and channel training operations in the river mouth area and to the assessment of the impact of these operations on hydrological and morphological processes. Variations in the regime of river flow after its regulation, processes of dynamic interaction and mixing of river and sea water in the estuary are characterized. The geographic features, including the delta hydrographic system, natural and territorial complexes, hydrological regime, and the dynamics of the coastline, are discussed. The analysis of physicochemical variables and selected dissolved elements was performed on the Apure River waters for 15 months. The variables pH, alkalinity, dissolved O2, conductivity and Na, Ca, Mg and Cd concentrations showed maximum values during low water, whereas K, Si, Fe, Al, Mn, Zn, Cu, Cr and dissolved organic carbon (DOC) showed maximum concentrations during rising and high water. Five important factors were found to control the amount and temporal variability of the dissolved elements: lithology, hydrology, vegetation–floodplain processes, redox conditions and organic complexation. Weathering of silicates, carbonates and evaporites in the Andes provides most of the proportion of Na, Ca, Mg and HCO3? to waters. The temporal variability of these ions is controlled by a dilution process. Although Si can be taken up by the biomass, Si and K can be leached from the floodplain by weathering of clays. Microbial decay of the submerged plants in the floodplain during the inundation periods provides DOC and K to river waters and changes the redox conditions in water. The changing redox conditions control the solubility of Mn, Zn and Fe. Dissolved Mn is a function of pH‐dependent redox process, whereas Zn solubility is controlled by scavenging of Zn during the oxidation of Mn2+ to MnO2. Positive relationships between Al, Fe, Cu, Cr and DOC suggest that these elements are complexed by organic colloids generated in the floodplain. Moreover, the binding capacity of Fe with DOC increases under reducing conditions. Specific processes of delta formation at the Mississippi River mouth are discussed. In the last 7000–8000 years, a series of large deltaic lobes was formed in succession at the Mississippi River mouth under the condition of high river sediment runoff and stabilization of the ocean level after its sudden postglacial rise. In the mid-XX century, the formation of a new deltaic lobe began at the Atchafalaya Branch mouth. Over the last centuries, the processes of delta formation at the Mississippi River mouth slowed down as a result of the river sediment runoff decrease after flow regulation of the Missouri and Arkansas tributaries; in some parts of the deltaic plain, these processes gave way to degradation of marshes and seashore erosion under the impact of intense land subsidence. The current processes of delta formation are under the great influence of local economic activities.  相似文献

In the Lainbach catchment, unconsolidated Pleistocene moraine sediments are widely distributed. Because of the great natural risk of floods, together with extreme loads of sediments, investigations of runoff production processes have been conducted in this area. At hillslope scale three test sites with different states of soil development and vegetation cover were instrumented with V‐shaped weirs, precipitation gauges and measurement devices for electrical conductivity (EC) of discharge water. The EC has been used as a geochemical tracer for hydrograph separation, since the statistical relationship between content of dissolved Ca2+, Mg2+ cations and EC is highly significant for different stages of runoff. This method allows hydrograph separation at high temporal resolution for both the rising and falling limb of the hydrograph. The following results of the investigations can be resumed. If relief conditions are similar, the effectiveness of runoff production decreases with an increasing density of vegetation cover. The runoff delivery ratio decreases as well as the peaks of runoff. In contrast, concentration times of hillslope catchments are equal, even if vegetation cover is of great density and soils are well developed. As a reason for the short reaction times, different runoff production processes have been detected. On bare ground, infiltration excess overland flow intensified by surface sealing processes is the main source for quick runoff. On hillslopes well covered by vegetation, translatory flow processes indicated by soil water with high solute contents force a rapid runoff reaction only a few minutes after rainfall has begun. It is to be assumed that translatory flow is a runoff production process typical for hillslopes covered by vegetation in a steep alpine relief. By means of the areal distribution of the topographic index, concentration of runoff production on a small part of the catchment has been demonstrated for hillslopes densely covered by vegetation. The investigations have shown that there is a lack of studies on runoff production processes in steep alpine relief, as well as a deficit of methods to quantify hydraulic properties of coarse‐grained soils with a wide grain size distribution. 针对委内瑞拉奥里诺科重油带J区块新老二维地震资料存在的问题,应用精细匹配处理方法,即以精细频率匹配和精细振幅匹配和相位校正为主要手段,结合时间偏移处理以及去噪、混波处理等手段,普遍突出了有效反射信息,提高了不同年度地震剖面之间的闭合精度,大大提高了构造解释的准确性,虽然地震资料很少,但仍解释出了J区块的三层构造图,构造解释结果表明,J区块地层总体是一个北倾单斜,其上发育一些北东和近东西向的断层,油藏类型以岩性油藏为主,断层对油藏主要起复杂化作用,J区块这一构造特征与其所处的构造背景、基底形态和构造应力作用有关.  相似文献

Particular attention is given to the processes of delta formation, the dynamics of the delta hydrographic systems, the channel processes in river branches, as well as to the dynamics of the delta coastline and nearshore zone bed over the last 150–200 years.
