The surface morphology of a rock joint is closely related to its mechanical properties. To reasonably characterize a rock surface, two new roughness parameters were proposed in this paper. One is related to the average slope angle of asperities that contribute to the shear strength, and the other reflects the frictional behavior of asperities that is defined as the maximum possible contact area in the shear direction. Taking the standard joint roughness coefficient profiles as example, these two roughness parameters can be applied to describe the directional characteristics of shear strength. Based on their relationships with initial dilation angles, the proposed roughness parameters were incorporated into a peak shear strength criterion. It is shown that the predicted peak shear strength is consistent with experimental data, and there is a power–law relationship. The application range of new roughness parameters was determined, which may facilitate a measurement process.  相似文献

节理的剪切强度涉及到岩体工程的安全。通过CSS–342岩体剪切试验机对3组具有不同形貌特征的节理进行直剪试验,研究形貌对剪切强度的影响。试验结果表明:峰值剪切强度随法向应力和粗糙程度的增加而增加;但就相同的形貌而言,剪切应力与法向应力的比值减小,即由形貌产生的剪胀角随法向应力的增加而减小。通过分析剪胀角存在的边界条件,提出双曲线形式的剪胀角演化模型,并采用抗拉强度体现岩石的性质对节理剪切强度的影响。采用坡度均方根表征节理的三维形貌特征并提出相应的峰值剪切强度公式,与经典的Barton公式进行了比较,总体上新公式的计算值更为接近试验值。  相似文献

复杂的结构面是控制岩体力学性质的主要因素,由结构面引起的岩体各向异性一直是岩体力学研究的热点问题。柱状节理是一类特殊的岩体地质结构面,具有强烈的各向异性特性,微结构张量理论是目前国际岩石力学领域一种较有效地探讨结构面各向异性问题的新方法。材料的微结构张量和加载向量是微结构张量法描述的两个重要参量。采用多组节理面局部坐标系与整体坐标系的投影关系,定义了材料的微结构张量计算方法,引入各向异性参数ψ表述微结构张量在加载方向的投影,将其引入Jaeger针对岩体沿节理面滑动破裂提出的基于Mohr-Coulomb强度准则,得到了多组节理岩体的各向异性强度准则。同时,结合白鹤滩坝址区的柱状节理特性,分析柱状节理引起的各向异性对坝址区稳定性的影响  相似文献

目前双剪强度理论在工程实际中得到了广泛的应用。基于双剪理论和相关流动法则,采用各向同性强化法则,选用等效塑性应变作为强化参数,从一致性条件出发,推导出双剪双参数强度准则本构模型硬化函数的显式表达式,并利用单轴加载试验数据得到硬化函数与硬化参数之间的微分关系,推导出考虑硬化的双剪双参数强度准则本构模型的弹塑性刚度矩阵,给出了求解双剪强度理论硬化函数的另一思路。通过工程算例验证,得出一些结论对实际计算具有一定的指导意义。  相似文献

自然界的土体通常具有各向异性的特点,而传统的破坏准则大多只适用于各向同性的土体。结合应力张量和反映材料各向异性状态的组构张量,定义了修正偏应力及其不变量,提出了适用于各向异性土体材料的破坏准则。给出了共轴条件下正交各向异性和横向各向异性材料在一般应力空间的破坏曲线以及不同应力区中主应力系数b与摩擦角的关系曲线,并分析了它们的特性以及与各向同性材料相应曲线的区别。通过与真三轴试验数据的比较,表明该准则能很好地描述各向异性土体材料的强度特点。  相似文献

A phenomenological failure criterion for brittle rock   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3  
Summary A phenomenological model is developed to represent failure in intact media as a consequence of shear-band formation. A stepped arrangement of connected flaws is assumed to be distributed within a planar shear-band inclined with respect to the applied deviatoric stresses. The flaws within the shear-band isolate a series of wedges that transmit tractions across the pre-failure zone. Gross stress transmission is controlled by static equilibrium with spatial stress inhomogeneity modulated through the distribution of flaws in the continuum adjacent to the shear-band. Under increased confinement, flaw closure beyond the shear-band results in a more homogeneous transmission of normal tractions across the failure plane. This stress dependent transition is based on physical arguments, related to mean flaw closure, to yield a distribution coefficient,W, that is controlled by macroscopic flaw rigidity,B. The model is able to replicate the power law dependency of ultimate strength with confining stress that is commonly observed. The model is specifically calibrated against experimental data for Daye marble. The phenomenological coefficients describing the failure process appear as material constants.  相似文献

The Mohr–Coulomb, Tresca and Von Mises criteria are classical failure criteria, widely accepted and used for various materials. To take into account the influence of intermediate principal stress on the strength of soil, Bishop, Lade–Duncan and Matsuoka proposed criteria in terms of three principal stresses or three stress invariants. This note describes an expression with two parameters for modeling the shape of the failure surface in the octahedral plane. By studying the roles of these two parameters and comparing the new criterion with the aforementioned criteria, the advantage and flexibility of the proposed function is explored. Application of the function is demonstrated by fitting the new surface to experimental data for various soils.  相似文献

Conclusions The application of mechanical methods for rapid excavation requires more detailed and precise knowledge of the site, but there is no single parameter which can provide a comprehensive measure for the selection and performance of a tunnel boring machine.The machinability index proposed in this paper is based on four different parameters which influence the performance of a tunnelling machine and are widely accepted by the engineers and geologists. In order to develop a comprehensive measure regarding the borability of rocks,in situ conditions must be evaluated. The machinability index coupled with thein situ information would facilitate judicious decisions regarding the application and selection of tunnel boring machines.The geological conditions and rock characteristics cannot be controlled but their knowledge can prevent costly mistakes in equipment selection and assist in identifying alternative excavation systems, therefore a thorough site investigation can substantially reduce the economic and technical risks associated with tunnelling and mine development.  相似文献

A generalized nonlinear failure criterion formulated in terms of stress invariants is proposed for describing the failure characteristics of different frictional materials. This failure criterion combines a power function and a versatile function in the meridian and deviatoric plane, respectively, which is a generalization of several classic criteria, including the Tresca, Drucker–Prager, Mohr–Coulomb, Lade–Duncan and Matsuoka–Nakai failure criterion. The procedure for determination of the strength parameters was demonstrated in detail. Comparisons between the failure criterion and experimental results were presented for uncemented/cemented Monterey sand, normally consolidated Fujinomori clay, rockfill, concrete, Mu-San sandstone and granite, which reveal that the proposed failure criterion captures experimental trend quite well.  相似文献

Film flow on fracture surfaces may be an important mechanism for fast flow in unsaturated fractured rocks. Incorporating this mechanism into a numerical model requires knowledge of constitutive relationships for film flow. Based on fractal concepts and a conceptual argument of Tokunaga et al. that water films could be treated as analogues to water in unsaturated porous media, a simple constitutive-relationship model has been developed. The validity of the model is supported by excellent agreements between calculation results and experimental observations for two different fracture surfaces.
Resumen El flujo pelicular en la superficie de las fracturas puede ser un mecanismo importante para el flujo rápido en rocas fracturadas no saturadas. Incorporarlo en un modelo numérico requiere conocer las relaciones constitutivas del flujo pelicular. Se ha desarrollado un modelo de una relación constitutiva sencilla partiendo de conceptos fractales y de un argumento conceptual de Tokunaga et al., según el cual las películas de agua pueden ser tratadas como análogos del agua en medios porosos no saturados. La validez del modelo es corroborada por los excelentes ajustes entre los resultados numéricos y las observaciones experimentales en dos superficies de fracturas diferentes.

Résumé Lécoulement en film sur les surfaces de fracture peut être un mécanisme important pour lécoulement rapide dans les roches fracturées non saturées. Lincorporation de ce mécanisme dans un modèle numérique nécessite la connaissance des relations fondamentales pour lécoulement en film. Basé sur des concepts fractals et sur un argument conceptuel de Tokunaga et al. selon lequel des films deau peuvent être considérés comme des analogues de leau en milieu poreux non saturé, un modèle simple des relations fondamentales a été développé. La validité de ce modèle est confirmée grâce à une excellente concordance entre les résultats du calcul et les observations expérimentales pour deux surfaces différentes de fractures.

将闭合裂纹表面的有效剪应力引入裂尖应力强度因子的计算,获得了无限大板和有限宽板含中心闭合裂纹在不同裂纹长度、倾角以及摩擦系数下裂纹尖端的应力强度因子值。引入等径向剪应力线 这一概念,建立了闭合裂纹断裂的有效剪应力准则:(1)岩板内闭合裂纹将沿着等 线上双剪应力的和最小的方向扩展;(2)裂纹尖端的应力强度因子KⅡ达到材料的临界值KⅡC,裂纹将开始扩展。该准则成功预测了闭合裂纹的临界起裂角 ,与各种经典复合型断裂准则计算Ⅱ型裂纹起裂角比较,结果较为接近。将其应用于闭合裂纹的断裂判定是安全的。  相似文献

The surface roughness of rock joints depends on their mode of origin, and on the mineralogy of the rock. Amongst the roughest joints will be those that formed in intrusive rocks in a tensile brittle manner, and amongst the smoothest the planar cleavage surface in slates. The range of friction angles exhibited by this spectrum will vary from about 75° or 80° down to 20° or 25°, the maximum values being very dependent on the normal stress, due to the strongly curved nature of the peak strength envelopes for rough unfilled joints.

Direct shear tests performed on model tension fractures have provided a very realistic picture of the behaviour of unfilled joints at the roughest end of the joint spectrum. The peak shear strength of rough—undulating joints such as tension surfaces can now be predicted with acceptable accuracy from a knowledge of only one parameter, namely the effective joint wall compressive strength or JCS value. For an unweathered joint this will be simply the unconfined compression strength of the unweathered rock. However in most cases joint walls will be weathered to some degree. Methods of estimating the strength of the weathered rock are discussed. The predicted values of shear strength compare favourably with experimental results reported in the literature, both for weathered and unweathered rough joints.

The shear strength of unfilled joints of intermediate roughness presents a problem since at present there is insufficient detailed reporting of test results. In an effort to remedy this situation, a simple roughness classification method has been devised which has a sliding scale of roughness. The curvature of the proposed strength envelopes reduces as the roughness coefficient reduces, and also varies with the strength of the weathered joint wall or unweathered rock, whichever is relevant. Values of the Coulomb parameters c and Φ fitted to the curves between the commonly used normal stress range of 5–20 kg/cm2 appear to agree quite closely with experimental results.

The presence of water is found in practice to reduce the shear strength of rough unfilled joints but hardly to affect the strength of planar surfaces. This surprising experimental result is also predicted by the proposed criterion for peak strength. The shear strength depends on the compressive strength which is itself reduced by the presence of water. The sliding scale of roughness incorporates a reduced contribution from the compressive strength as the joint roughness reduces. Based on the same model, it is possible to draw an interesting analogy between the effects of weathering, saturation, time to failure, and scale, on the shear strength of non-planar joints. Increasing these parameters causes a reduction in the compressive strength of the rock, and hence a reduction in the peak shear strength. Rough—undulating joints are most affected and smooth—nearly planar joints least of all.  相似文献

To simulate brittle rocks, a mixture of glastone, sand and water was used as a model material. Thin galvanized sheets of thickness 0.254 mm were used to create joints in blocks made out of the model material. To investigate the failure modes and strength, both the intact material blocks as well as jointed model material blocks of size 35.6 × 17.8 × 2.5 cm having different joint geometry configurations were subjected to uniaxial and biaxial compressive loadings. A new intact rock failure criterion is proposed at the 3-D level. This criterion is validated for biaxial loading through laboratory experimental results obtained on intact model material blocks. Results obtained from both the intact and jointed model material blocks are used to develop a strongly non-linear new rock mass failure criterion for biaxial loading. In this failure criterion, the fracture tensor component is used to incorporate the directional effect of fracture geometry system on jointed block strength. The failure criterion shows the important role, the intermediate principal stress plays on rock mass strength.  相似文献
