Red mud is the residue of bauxite processing for alumina. Red mud varies in physical, chemical and mineralogical properties due to differing mineral sources and refining processes adopted. In this project, red mud produced using a combined Bayer Process and Calcining (BPC) method was investigated. Red mud samples of varying ages were collected from the red mud storage facilities of the Zhenzhou Changcheng Aluminium Limited. The objective of this study is to (1) characterize the BPC red mud, and (2) examine the effects of this red mud on treating heavy metal-containing water and soil. Red mud samples were analyzed for pH, EC, water extractable salts and exchangeable basic cations, total element composition (by XRF), mineral composition (by XRD), micromorphological characteristics (by SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The results show that the pH of the red mud decreased with increasing duration of storage time. The pH of the fresh, 5-year-old and 10-year-old red mud was 11.58, 10.56 and 9.61, respectively. Sodium dominated among the soluble cations, but the concentration of soluble Na decreased with increasing duration of storage time as a result of leaching. Cation exchange capacity as estimated from the sum of exchangeable cations also decreased with increasing duration of storage time, probably due to the decreasing pH which causes a reduction in negatively charged sites of the red mud. Calcium was the predominant exchangeable cation in the fresh red mud but the concentrations of exchangeable Ca markedly decreased in the old red mud which was dominated by exchangeable Na.XRF results showed that the red mud consists mainly of oxygen, calcium, iron, silicon, aluminium and titanium. Other important elements include sodium, carbon, magnesium and potassium. It is important to note that the red mud also contains elevated concentrations of radioactive elements, predominantly thorium (Th), cerium (Ce) and rubidium (Rb). XRD results showed that the major mineral types in the red mud were calcite, perovskite, illite, hematite and magnetite. There is a trend that the contents of magnetite decreased while the contents of hematite increased with increasing storage time, suggesting the conversion of magnetite to hematite. Observation using a SEM revealed that fresh red mud sample was amorphous while the 10-year-old red mud sample was fairly well crystallized. TGA results showed that the temperature at which the valley of weight loss occurred increased from 681.9℃ for fresh red mud to 722.9℃ for the 5-year-old red mud to 734.7℃ for the 10-year-old red mud. These results suggest that the contents of calcium carbonate increased with increasing storage time. Slow titration of the red mud samples with standardized acid solutions for two years indicated that the fresh red mud had an acid neutralizing capacity (ANC) of about 10 mol/kg while the ANC of old red mud samples was around 9 mol/kg. The ANC values obtained from the determination of BPC red mud here are much higher than those previously reported for red mud derived from the pure Bayer Process at the Queensland Alumina Limitd, Australia, and at the Pinggno Alumina Refinery, China.  相似文献

Desert terrains in northern China are covered by widespread regolith sediments which mask geochemical signals from ore bodies and are major obstacles to mineral exploration. There is a critical need to study the vertical distribution of elements in this regolith and to establish optimum sampling and analytical methods. The aim of this study is to understand the dispersion and variation of elements throughout the cover in a vertical profile. The results demonstrate that the main elements show a distribution pattern of enrichment in clay layers in the vertical profile, i.e., most elements tend to be enriched in the most upper part of the profile above the orebodies except for some elements like Cu, Ca and Ag. Meanwhile, both fine (-160 mesh) and coarse (+20 mesh) fraction samples from clay-rich horizons are favorable samples and selective leaching of the elements absorbed on clays or oxide coatings is effective for localizing buried deposits. The distribution of active Cu and Mo is quite different because chalcopyrite is weathered into Cu sulfate and CuCO3, and is precipitated in alkaline environments in a layer below close to the surface. Mo is soluble in the alkaline environment so it can penetrate the caliche layer and be enriched on the surface of soil enriched with weakly cemented clay.  相似文献

The immobilization conditions of heavy metals (Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb) potentially released from sewage sludge to soils were examined. Competitive adsorption experiments, sequential extraction and analytical electron microscopic studies were performed on soils with different compositional characteristics to gain information about the interaction and association of metals with soil minerals. The results showed that Cu and Pb can be characterized by a preferred adsorption in contrast to Zn and Ni independent of initial metal concentrations, ratios, and soil composition. Precipitation is the dominating retardation process in the sample containing carbonates, but it is also characteristic of metals with inhibited adsorption in samples free of carbonate. Both Cu and Pb show high affinity towards organic matter. Differences in metal affinities towards different clay minerals show the immobilization of Cu rather by specific adsorption and that of Pb rather by ion exchange. According to the sequential extraction studies the role of ion exchange is the most important process for the retardation of Zn, and in the sample containing montmorillonite. The specific adsorption is significant mostly for Cu and Pb, and primarily in samples rich in organic matter and containing vermiculite. The co-precipitation of metals with Fe-Mn oxides is significant primarily for Cu, but in some cases Pb and Zn can be also found in this fraction. In general, the strength of immobilization for the studied metals is as follows: Cu〉Pb〉Zn〉Ni. Significantly higher metal adsorption was found by the phases in the sample containing carbonates, as well as in samples characterized by the close association of clay minerals and iron oxides. Smectite and vermiculite are the most important adsorbents in soils for all of the metals. Additionally, iron-oxides immboilize significant amounts of Cu and Zn, too.  相似文献

Lead (Pb) is normally considered as a trace element in soils and sediments for geochemical study. However, the concentration of Pb in firing range soils is generally so high that it should be considered as a major element during the evaluation of the soil geochemical properties. Soil organic matter (SOM) has been reported as one of the major factors to expedite the corrosion of metallic lead (Pb) in acidic and organic-rich soils. The main impacts of SOM on the fate and transport of Pb in firing range soils lie in the following two aspects; (1) the complexation of organic matter with Pb, which has received lots of attention, and; (2) changes in soil redox potential due to the transformation of SOM and its subsequent impact on Pb speciation, which has rarely been investigated. Soils from 6 different firing ranges are selected for this study. These samples have been stored under a closed condition for more than 3 years. The soil moisture contents were well-retained, as all the samples were kept in closed plastic buckets. The analytical data showed that the summation of the soil total organic carbon content (TOC) and inorganic carbon contents (TIC) were consistent with soil total carbon contents (TC) measured in previous years, although the TOC and TIC contents have changed respectively after years of storage. In general, it is observed that the soil TOC decreased against an increase of TIC. The mass balance on such a transformation suggested a major conversion of organic carbon (Corg) to inorganic carbon (CO3^2-) in the stored soils.  相似文献

The vibration analysis of a plate on an elastic foundation is an important problem in engineering. It is the interaction of a plate with the three-dimensional half space and the plate is usually loaded from both the upper and lower surfaces. The contact pressure from the soil can not be predefined. According to Lambs solution for a single oscillating force acting on a point on the surface of an elastic half space, and the relevant approximation formulae, a relation between the local pressure and the deflection of the plate has been proposed. Based on this analysis, the reaction of the soil can be represented as the deformation of the plate. Therefore, the plate can be separated from the soil and only needs to be divided by a number of elements in the analysis. The following procedure is the same as the standard finite element method. This is a semi-analytical and semi-numerical method. It has been applied to the dynamic analysis of circular or rectangular plates on the elastic half space, at low or high frequency vibration, and on rigid, soft or flexible foundations. The results show that this method is versatile and highly accurate.  相似文献

The rare-earth elements (REEs) are a series of elements including lanthanides with atomic numbers from 57 to 71, as well as Y with an atomic number of 39. The REEs are commonly used as geochemical tracers in the study of many geologic processes because of their unique and chemically coherent behavior. The main purpose of this research is to understand the effect of water-particle interaction on trace metal transport, the distribution and chemical species of the REEs in water through case studies on geochemical behavior of the REEs in the Chaohu and Longgan lakes, eastern China. Concentrations of the dissolved REEs were detected by ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry). Before ICP-MS measurement, REEs were concentrated from water samples by using solvent extraction and back extraction with a mixture 65% HDEHP (2-etheylhexyl hydrogen phosphate) and 35% H2MEHP (2-ehtylhexyl dihydrogen phosphate). The results showed that the average concentrations of dissolved REEs in summer are higher than in winter for Chaohu Lake: they were 162.6 ng/kg and 86.5 ng/kg, respectively. On the country, the REE contents of winter samples were higher than those of summer water samples for Longganhu Lake: they were 111.1 ng/kg and 44.0 ng/kg, respectively. The contents of suspended particulate matter and pH are the two important factors controlling the concentrations of dissolved REE in the lakes. The contents of the REEs decrease with increasing pH in the Longgan and Chaohu lakes. The suspended particulate matter shows different sorption/desorption toward the dissolved REEs in the two water bodies. Most lake water samples have a fiat NASC-normalized REE pattern, and the others have heavy REE-enrichment patterns relative to NASC, which may imply that the dissolved REEs were mainly present in the form of fine colloids in the Chaohu and Longgan lakes.  相似文献

Mining industry is one of the most important economical activities of Latin America, where As, Pb and Cd are commonly associated with the extraction of precious and base metals. Mining activities become a source of contamination if control measures are not adapted to avoid the pollution of soils by these potentially toxic elements (PTE) for the human, because they have the capacity to produce damage to the DNA generating a genomic instability in the individual and this directly can lead to the development of chronic diseases like cancer. The considered population of greater risk is the infantile since they have an exceptional vulnerability to the acute or chronic effects of environmental toxics and in addition have a higher susceptibility to these PTE compared with the adults. For that reason, it is assumed that the infantile population exposed to soil contaminated by the mixture of As, Pb and Cd, has damage in the DNA of its cells and this provokes a greater susceptibility to develop neoplasics processes or other environmental diseases. Individual sensitivity to the cytogenetics effects produced by the polluting agents or their metabolites is based on the differences in the magnitude of the repair systems induction, reason why it is necessary to determine the genotoxicity in exposed children by means of the evaluation of a damage biomarker that allows to establish a biological meaning to predict the adverse effects in health.  相似文献

Mercury is a pollutant of concern due to its toxic and bioaccumulative properties. Studies on the distribution and hazard of mercury in the environment are mainly focused on its forms, toxicity and the environment standard, and progresses and results have been achieved. But these studies in the past were concentrated on the scales of laboratory or smaller districts merely, such as a small unit of mineral area, vegetable base, paddy field, lake, etc. Multi-target regional geochemical survey carried out by China Geological Survey from the 1990s to now is a fundamental and commonweal geological survey, large-scale and systematical inquisition and research were conducted in 19 provinces (or municipalities directly under the Central Government) in the eastern overlay region of China, and the purpose is to provide the basic geochemical data for national economic construction, adjustment of industrial and agricultural structures and sustainable social development. Geochemical studies aim at investigating soils in these regions and 52 elements have been tested, producing a great amount of data at the same time. Methods: based on the data from 3061 samples of surface soil and 832 samples of deep soil from the project of multi-purpose geochemical survey in the Chengdu Basin, Sichuan, China, this paper describes the correlation relationship between Hg and other 48 elements and their spatial distribution in surface and deep soils of these areas by applying the method of linear regression and factor analysis.  相似文献

REE geochemistry of sea-floor sediments from the Taiwan Shallow has been studied.∑ REE of 76 samples from the Taiwan Shallow was determined by chemical extraetion-spectrophotometry, of which 7 samples were analyzed for 15 rare earth elements by XRF. The analytical results show that ,∑ REE of the samples increases gradually with a decrease in grain size. The average REE contents are 60 ppm for coarse-grained sediments,82 ppm for medium-coarse-grained ones, 145 ppm for fine-grained ones, and 211 ppm for silt. The REE content of the samples is controlled mainly by the grain size and mineralogical composition of sediments. The ehondrite-normalized REE distribution patterns in sediments from the Taiwan Shallow are similar to those in granites in Fujian Province, China, which show a negative Eu anomaly and a positive Ce anomaly. The distribution curves are negative in slope. It is considered that based on REE geochemical characteristics, mineralogical composition and related oceanographic information, the Taiwan Shallow sediments seem to be largely residual deposits of ancient littoral facies from various types of continental rocks during Pleistocene glacial period. These sediments have also been reworked by modern sedimentatoion.  相似文献

Different species of one element have different activities, so it has different effects on environment and human health. To analyze qualitatively and quantitatively the speciation of a special element in sample, which is the important basis for appraising the toxicity and studying the rule of transfer and translation of elements. Since the 1970's, the scheme of sequential extraction has already been used at many laboratories both at home and abroard, to get the information about heavy metals' activity in polluted soils. Because this method has the experimental nature, many schemes of problem has taken place, the absence of consistency of these sequential extraction have been formed. Thus the complexity of the schemes, the lack of selectivity of reagent, the lack of quality control, the result mainly related to the extraction scheme used, and so on. In the face of these problems, the study of experimental methods of sequential extraction on three different soils, sediment in Dongting Lake, soil in Jiangsu Province and loess in Shanxi Province was made. Reference materials of heavy metal speciation following sequential extraction in soil and sediment had been developed. Nowadays two kinds of sequential extraction methods which are widely used are BCR (three steps) and improved Tessier methods (seven steps). Based on three steps of BCR, water-soluble speciation and the residual speciation were increased in our research. BCR701 was determined eight times at different laboratories using BCR three steps. The results showed that determined data obtained eight times were identical to the standard value, and it is indicated that this method has good reproducibility. The stability and homogeneity experiments indicated that the preparation of three types of candidates accorded with our requirements. Eight laboratories had afforded the determined values of 12 heavy metal elements (Cu, Pb, Zn, Mn, Co, Ni, Cd, Cr, Mo, As, Sb, Hg, Se et al.) using BCR three steps. Also, these three candidates afforded the determined values by seven steps, and 12 laboratories had participated.  相似文献

The Zarshuran arsenic deposit has been exploited for more than one thousand years. During this period of time, trace element pollutants have been transported downstream via natural agents, however this process has been exacerbated by human interferences, such as mining activities, especially in recent years. Geochemical study of metallic contaminants revealed a high concentration of elements especially of As, Sb, Hg, and TI in ore, waste piles, water and stream sediments, so that the arsenic concentration ranges between 40-0.028 mg/L in water samples of the Zarshuran Stream. In order to investigate the mechanism of contaminant transport downstream the mine, the concentrations of arsenic and other trace elements detected in ore-waste assemblage were measured in water samples taken from 11 stations. Also, the pH and Eh values have been measured in the same waster samples. The arsenic ore mainly consists of orpiment and realgar, associated with a small amount of Sb, Hg, Tl, minerals. Weathering of this assemblage gives rise to a mine water having an arsenic concentration of 22 mg/L. As concentrations are reduced to 4.272, 3.069, 0.421, 0.083, and 0.036 mg/L at distances of about 1, 1.3, 3.3, 7 and 15.2 km down the mine, respectively. The water samples have been passed through the 0.45μ filters to determine the fraction of contaminants transported in dissolved phase and also in particulate phase. The geochemical study of contaminant transport indicates that contaminants are transported mainly as colloidal and particulate phases in the upstream and only 13% of arsenic is transported as the dissolved phase. The milky appearance of stream is evidence for colloidal transport. From 6 km downward the mine, particulate phase is not the significant carrier of contaminants and more than 90% of the arsenic is transported as dissolved phase. The very positive correlation between trace element concentrations and Fe, colloidal deposition evidence as an ocher-colored precipitate on stream bed sediments accompanied by a decrease in contaminant concentrations in stream water, the physicochemical (Eh and pH) conditions, near neutral pH values, considerable difference in concentration of Fe in dissolved and total phases, weathering of iron sulfides in the ore-waste assemblage, XRD analysis of precipitates, indicate strongly that HFO is the main carrier and transporting agent in this area.  相似文献

Sixty-two soil samples collected from different functional zones of Guiyang were analyzed for total concentrations and sequential extraction of Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd by ICP spectrometry. The average total concentrations ofCr, Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd in the soils of Guiyang were 92.9, 51.6, 44.1,139.3 and 0.28 mg/kg, respectively. The soils have been polluted by Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd to some extent in comparison with the background values of Guiyang. Significant differences were recognized in the concentrations of Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn and Cd in different functional zones. As for the sequential extraction, Cr, Cu and Zn were present mainly in the residual fraction, and Pb was present mainly in the oxidizable fraction. The reducible fraction of Cd accounts for 47.5%, and the residual fraction is lowest. The mobility and bioavailability of heavy metals follow the order of Cd〉Pb〉Cu〉Cr〉Zn.  相似文献

Along with the rapid development of science and technology, natural matter and energy are further exploited and used. The pollution imposed on nature has also sharply increased. Only do we know the pollution history, can we make a correct appraisal of local environment, get the hold of the main cause of environmental pollution, and then take the effective measures to control the environment? The evolution of heavy metal concentrations with time in the soil environment in the southern suburbs of Beijing were studied by using annual growth rings of trees. The absorption of 12 elements by different tree species in the same soil type was studied according to their absorption coefficients. The study indicated the differences in adsorption of elements by different species of trees. The adsorption coefficients of the elements Zn, Cd and P are higher. The correlations of nine elements (Na, K, Cu, Zn, As, Sr, Cd, Ba and Pb) in growth rings of poplar trees and those in soils near their roots show that the element contents in growth rings have a positive correlation with the contents in soils near the roots. Based on the logarithmic linear correlation model, the evolution of the contents of the elements Cu, Zn, As, Cd, Ba and Pb in soils from 1982 to 2004 was deduced. The trees have the characters of confirming year precisely, long life and widespread distribution. They are the ideal objects of study on environmental pollution changes. At present, research in China in this aspect is less, and the field of research is expected to further expand. This method can be used to provide richer and more scientific information on the history of environmental pollution and changes during modem urbanization in the past few decades and predicting the evolutionary trend of pollution change.  相似文献

The Binchuan area of Yunnan is located in the western part of the Emeishan large igneous province in the western margin of the Yangtze Block.In the present study,the Wuguiqing profile in thickness of about 1440 m is mainly composed of high-Ti basalts,with minor picrites in the lower part and andesites,trachytes,and rhyolites in the upper part.The picrites have relatively higher platinum-group element(PGE) contents(ΣPGE=16.3-28.2 ppb),with high Cu/Zr and Pd/Zr ratios,and low S contents(5.03-16.9 ppm),indicating the parental magma is S-unsaturated and generated by high degree of partial melting of the Emeishan large igneous province(ELIP) mantle source.The slightly high Cu/Pd ratios(11 000-24 000) relative to that of the primitive mantle suggest that 0.007%sulfides have been retained in the mantle source.The PGE contents of the high-Ti basalts exhibit a wider range(ΣPGE=0.517-30.8 ppb).The samples in the middle and upper parts are depleted in PGE and haveεNd(260 Ma) ratios ranging from -2.8 to -2.2,suggesting that crustal contamination of the parental magma during ascent triggered sulfur saturation and segregation of about 0.446%-0.554% sulfides,and the sulfide segregation process may also provide the ore-forming material for the magmatic Cu-Ni-PGE sulfide deposits close to the studied basalts.The samples in this area show Pt-Pd type primitive mantle-normalized PGE patterns,and the Pd/Ir ratios are higher than that of the primitive mantle(Pd/Ir=1),indicating that the obvious differentiation between Ir-group platinum-group elements(IPGE) and Pd-group platinum-group elements(PPGE) are mainly controlled by olivine or chromites fractionation during magma evolution.The Pd/Pt ratios of most samples are higher than the average ratio of mantle(Pd/Pt=0.55),showing that the differentiation happened between Pt and Pd.The differentiation in picrites may be relevant to Pt hosted in discrete refractory Pt-alloy phase in the mantle;whereas the differentiation in the high-Ti basalts is probably associated with the fractionation of Fe-Pt alloys,coprecipitating with Ir-Ru-Os alloys.Some high-Ti basalt samples exhibit negative Ru anomalies,possibly due to removal of laurite collected by the early crystallized chromites.  相似文献

The sub-arc mantle that experienced hydrous melting is commonly characterized by refractory geochemical compositions. Nevertheless, minor lherzolites with fertile compositions have also been reported for mantle peridotites from subduction zone. The petrogenesis and mantle source of the lherzolites are still controversial. The New Caledonia ophiolite(Peridotite Nappe) has been regarded as an allochthonous body of forearc lithosphere. This is supported by refractory compositions of its dominant mantle rocks.A few isolated lherzolitic massifs have also been observed in the northern part of New Caledonia.Those lherzolites are compositionally similar to abyssal peridotites, with negligible subduction-related modification. Here, we present new comprehensive geochemical compositions, in particular highprecision Sr-Nd-Hf isotope data, for the lherzolites. The initial176 Hf/177 Hf ratios display moderate correlations with sensitive indicators for the extent of melting(i.e., olivine Fo, whole-rock Mg# and Yb contents in clinopyroxene) and whole-rock initial187 Os/188 Os ratios. Some samples have ancient radiogenic Hf isotopes and unradiogenic Os isotope compositions, implying the preservation of ancient depletion signals in the lherzolites. The Nd isotope compositions, together with trace elements and mineral micro-textures, suggest that the lherzolites have been overprinted by a recent melt-rock interaction event. The high equilibrium temperatures of the studied samples have been estimated by the twopyroxene REE thermometer, yielding temperatures of 1066–1315 ℃. The lherzolites have more depleted Nd-Hf isotope compositions and higher equilibrium temperatures than the New Caledonia harzburgites.This indicates that the lherzolites may represent the residues of asthenosphere mantle trapped within the forearc region. Our studies on the New Caledonia lherzolites with ancient depletion signals suggest that ancient mantle domains in the convective mantle can be emplaced in forearc region by the upwelling of asthenosphere during the early stage of subduction initiation.  相似文献

Within a series of pot experiments with substrates sampled at heavily to moderately polluted sites of past metal mining activities, it was tried to influence the soil plant transfer of metals via addition of complexants, soil bacteria and perlite. Lettuce (lactuca sativa) was chosen as a universal accumulator plant. A wide range of concentrations in the samples ensures a rather general approach. The goal was to develop a strategy to enable plant growth at metal contaminated substrates for phytoremediation purposes. One contaminated mine tailing from Shiheung/Korea was treated with EDTA, NTA, citric acid, malic acid, NaCl, citrate+NaCl, as well as compost, to provoke effects from chemical treatment. This should yield low molecular metal complexes in the soil solution and provide a carbon source to natural soil life. Other samples from Shiheung, from Okdong mine tailings, Okdong farmland, as well as from three contaminated sites from a medieval mine tailing at Oberzeiring/Styria/Austrias were treated with Cd- adapted soil bacteria, perlite, and soil bacteria and perlite, to impose of changes in microbial life directly. Fresh mine tailings are low in microbial life and plant- available nitrogen, whereas in the contaminated Austrian medieval samples, conditions have had time to adapt for more than 600 years. In the test substrates, supply with nutrient nitrogen was low, supply with nutrient phosphorus was low to adequate, and supply with potassium and sulfate was adequate. Effects of various additives on the plant yield mainly depend on the initial nutrient status. After harvest, the soils were parted in root soils and bulk soils to recognize possible differences. The lettuce plants were parted in leaves and roots. The solids were characterized by convential methods and aqua regia digestion, as well as by a Tessier-type sequential leaching procedure. The plant samples were digested with HNO3/HClO4. Basically, sample solutions were simultaneously read for 23 elements in ICP-OES in appropriate dilutions. Various treatments result in concentration shifts in root soil, bulk soil, plant roots and plant leaves. Interpretation is not easy, but physiologically active elements or contaminants are usually more involved.  相似文献

Sinian strata (isotopic ages ranging from 1900-850 m.y.) in Oihsien, county and its vicinity have been studied in more detail from the standpoint of sedimentary geochemistry. Average chemical composition of various sedimentary rocks in the Sinian sequence (sandstone, siltstone, shale, dolomite and limestone) have been calculated.The periodicity and general trend as exhibited in the course of evolution of element association have been demonstrated by mathematical statistics based on numerious chemical analyses and semiquantitative spectroscopic data with the aid of electronic computer. In accordance with the above results the classification of elements are proposed on a more reasonable ground. Considerable attention has been paid to the periodicity and evolutionary eharacterictics of rocks, minerals and elements. The mode of occurrence of elements is examined in the light of trace-element concentrations and the relative coefficients between them in different components (clastic debris, clay, and ete.) from a variety of rocks and carbonates. The Deccan Syneclise is considered to have significant hydrocarbon potential.However,significant hydrocarbon discoveries,particularly for Mesozoic sequences,have not been established through conventional exploration due to the thick basalt cover over Mesozoic sedimentary rocks.In this study,near-surface geochemical data are used to understand the petroleum system and also investigate type of source for hydrocarbons generation of the study area.Soil samples were collected from favorable areas identified by integrated geophysical studies.The compositional and isotopic signatures of adsorbed gaseous hydrocarbons(methane through butane) were used as surface indicators of petroleum micro-seepages.An analysis of 75 near-surface soil-gas samples was carried out for light hydrocarbons(C1-C4) and their carbon isotopes from the western part of Tapti graben,Deccan Syneclise,India.The geochemical results reveal sites or clusters of sites containing anomalously high concentrations of light hydrocarbon gases.High concentrations of adsorbed thermogenic methane(C_1 = 518 ppb) and ethane plus higher hydrocarbons(ΣC_(2+) = 977 ppb) were observed.Statistical analysis shows that samples from 13% of the samples contain anomalously high concentrations of light hydrocarbons in the soil-gas constituents.This seepage suggests largest magnitude of soil gas anomalies might be generated/source from Mesozoic sedimentary rocks,beneath Deccan Traps.The carbon isotopic composition of methane,ethane and propane ranges are from-22.5‰ to-30.2‰ PDB,-18.0‰to 27.1‰ PDB and 16.9‰-32.1‰ PDB respectively,which are in thermogenic source.Surface soil sample represents the intersection of a migration conduit from the deep subsurface to the surface connected to sub-trappean Mesozoic sedimentary rocks.Prominent hydrocarbon concentrations were associated with dykes,lineaments and presented on thinner basaltic cover in the study area,which probably acts as channel for the micro-seepage of hydrocarbons.  相似文献

This paper discussed the stabilities of heavy metals in soils treated with red mud. Soil has been polluted by heavy metals more and more seriously during recent several decades, and they are harmful to mankind and animals. The current tendency is to develop in-situ technique by using industrial processing waste as additives to stabilized heavy metals to minimize the disturbance of contaminated soils. Soil samples were collected from the Niujiaotang mining area, Guizhou Province, southwestern China. They were farmed soils polluted weakly by fly ash (QBT) and polluted badly by waste water (BXT) from smelter, respectively. One of the red mud samples (BRM) was collected from Bayer process and the other (CRM) from confederate process in the Alumina Plant of Guizhou. Free metal ion concentrations were analyzed with Donnan Membrane Technique and predicted with ECOSAT. The concentrations of free heavy metal ions in QBT increased after appending CRM, but decreased when adding BRM. The more the red mud was added, the higher the concentration would be, and the free concentrations of nickel and cadmium ions would vary more greatly than those of copper and zinc ions. When appending red muds into BXT, the free concentrations of copper and zinc ions varied little. While those of free nickel and cadmium decreased obviously at the ratio of 2.00%. The variation of the concentration was still biggish after appending BRM at the ratio of 0.50%, but smaller than that of 2.00%. The concentrations of free cadmium ions increased after adding CRM at the ratio of 0.50%. All experimental processes were modeled through ECOSAT. The predicted and measured results were consistent, except for zinc. Contributions of soil sorbents to the heavy metal adsorptions were also modeled through ECOSAT. The sorbents in soil included soil organic matter, iron hydroxides, clay and the Donnan gel of soil organic matter. Compared to the soils without red muds, no matter what kind of red mud and how much was added in soil, the contributions changed slightly.  相似文献

On the basis of field geology, three typical ductile shear zones in the southern part of the Tancheng-Lujiang fault belt have been chosen for a detailed study. Altogether ten samples of the tectonites have been collected for this study. The paper is focused on a comprehensive study of the tectonites in the medium-lower horizons of the ductile shear zones. The mineral compositions of the rocks are analyzed with EPMA and some typical whole-rock samples analyzed by chemical and ICP methods. Based on the comprehensive study of the characteristics of the deformation, the mineral assemblages and the changes of chemical composition of the bulk rocks, this paper presents a discussion on the relationship between the volume loss, the fluid flow and compositional changes during mylonitization of the ductile shear zones in this region.
