On the assimilation of total-ozone satellite data   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A two-dimensional model for advection and data assimilation of total-ozone data has been developed. The Assimilation Model KNMI (AMK) is a global model describing the transport of the column amounts of ozone, by a wind field at a single pressure level, assuming that total ozone behaves as a passive tracer. In this study, ozone column amounts measured by the TIROS Operational Vertical Sounder (TOVS) instrument on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) polar satellites and wind fields from the Meteorological Archive and Retrieval System (MARS) archives at ECMWF have been used. By means of the AMK, the incomplete space-time distribution of the TOVS measurements is filled in and global total-ozone maps at any given time can be obtained. The choice of wind field to be used for transporting column amounts of ozone is extensively discussed. It is shown that the 200-hPa wind field is the optimal single-pressure-level wind field for advecting total ozone. Assimilated ozone fields are the basic information for research on atmospheric chemistry and dynamics, but are also important for the validation of ozone measurements.  相似文献

Kamchatka is one of the most active volcanic regions on the planet. Large explosive volcanic eruptions, in which the ash elevates up to 8?C15 km above sea level, occur here every 1.5 years. Study of eruptions precursors in order to reduce a volcanic risk for the population is an urgent problem of Volcanology. The available precursor of strong explosive eruptions of volcanoes, identified from satellite data (thermal anomaly), as well as examples of successful prediction of eruptions using this precursor, are represented in this paper.  相似文献

Satellite-data allows the magnetic field produced by the dynamo within the Earth’s core to be imaged with much more accuracy than previously possible with only ground-based data. Changes in this magnetic field can in turn be used to make some inferences about the core surface flow responsible for them. In this paper, we investigate the improvement brought to core flow computation by new satellite-data based core magnetic field models. It is shown that the main limitation now encountered is no longer the (now high) accuracy of those models, but the “non-modelled secular variation” produced by interaction of the non-resolvable small scales of the core flow with the core field, and by interaction of the (partly) resolvable large scales of the core flow with the small scales of the core field unfortunately masked by the crustal field. We show how this non-modelled secular variation can be taken into account to recover the largest scales of the core flow in a consistent way. We also investigate the uncertainties this introduces in core flows computed with the help of the frozen-flux and tangentially geostrophic assumptions. It turns out that flows with much more medium and small scales than previously thought are needed to explain the satellite-data-based core magnetic field models. It also turns out that a significant fraction of this flow unfortunately happens to be non-recoverable (being either “non-resolvable” because too small-scale, or “invisible”, because in the kernel of the inverse method) even though it produces the detectable “non-modelled secular variation”. Applying this to the Magsat (1980) to Ørsted (2000) field changes leads us to conclude that a flow involving at least strong retrograde vortices below the Atlantic Hemisphere, some less-resolved prograde vortices below the Pacific Hemisphere, and some poorly resolved (and partly non-resolvable) polar vortices, is needed to explain the 1980-2000 satellite-era average secular variation. The characteristics of the fraction of the secular variation left unexplained by this flow are also discussed.  相似文献

本文提出了一个利用纯几何轨道和力模型的新算法来计算精确且相对平滑的卫星轨道. 该法将一个纯几何轨道表达为一个B-spline的线性组合,线性组合的系数可以由最小二乘法估计获得. 力模型通过计算加速度来附加约束. 为了平衡几何轨道的点位误差和加速度的不精确,一个基于“广义交互确认(GCV,generalized cross-validation)”的正则化算法运用其中. 由于B-spline的本地控制性,该方法的计算效率相当高. 本文的数值分析表明了该法的有效性. 模拟计算的结论是:带加速度约束较不带加速度约束的平滑效果好. 力模型越精确,平滑的轨道就越精确. 三个月的CHAMP实测轨道数据处理结果表明,平滑后的轨道改进了重力场模型.  相似文献

Atmospheric masses play an important role in precise downward continuation and validation of satellite gravity gradiometry data. In this paper we present two alternative ways to formulate the atmospheric potential. Two density models for the atmosphere are proposed and used to formulate the external and internal atmospheric potentials in spherical harmonics. Based on the derived harmonic coefficients, the direct atmospheric effects on the satellite gravity gradiometry data are investigated and presented in the orbital frame over Fennoscandia. The formulas of the indirect atmospheric effects on gravity anomaly and geoid (downward continued quantities) are also derived using the proposed density models. The numerical results show that the atmospheric effect can only be significant for precise validation or inversion of the GOCE gradiometric data at the mE level.  相似文献

给出一种新的非线性、非平稳信号的处理方法——HHT方法,并把该方法首次应用于星载电场数据处理中.以2004年9月15日菲律宾6.0级地震前两天(13日)DEMETER卫星经过震中区域上空所记录到的数据为例,对ULF频段的电场数据进行了处理,得到了相应的HHT时频图谱.另外,还利用DEMETER卫星中心网站提供的SWAN软件计算得到了相应的小波变换时频图谱,通过比较发现,虽然两种方法对异常信号出现的位置时刻的描述有相同的能力,但HHT方法在异常信号的细节描述上更为清晰,从而为今后进一步的研究工作奠定了基础.  相似文献

The natural variations of the Earth's magnetic field of periods spanning from milliseconds to decades can be used to infer the conductivity-depth profile of the Earth's interior. Satellites provide a good spatial coverage of magnetic measurements, and forthcoming missions will probably allow for observations lasting several years, which helps to reduce the statistical error of the estimated response functions.Two methods are used to study the electrical conductivity of the Earth's mantle in the period range from hours to months. In the first, known as the potential method, a spherical harmonic analysis of the geomagnetic field is performed, and the Q-response, which is the transfer function between the internal (induced) and the external (inducing) expansion coefficients is determined for a specific frequency. In the second approach, known as the geomagnetic depth sounding method, the C-response, which is the transfer function between the magnetic vertical component and the horizontal derivative of the horizontal components, is determined. If one of these transfer functions is known for several frequencies, models of the electrical conductivity in the Earth's interior can be constructed.This paper reviews and discusses the possibilities for induction studies using high-precision magnetic measurements from low-altitude satellites. The different methods and various transfer functions are presented, with special emphasis on the differences in analysing data from ground stations and from satellites. The results of several induction studies with scalar satellite data (from the POGO satellites) and with vector data (from the Magsat mission) demonstrate the ability to probe the Earth's conductivity from space. However, compared to the results obtained with ground data the satellite results are much noisier, which presumably is due to the shorter time series of the satellite studies.The results of a new analysis of data from the Magsat satellite indicate higher resistivity in oceanic areas than in continental areas. However, since this holds for the whole range of periods between 2 and 20 days, this difference probably is not caused purely by differences in mantle conductivity (for which one would expect less difference for the longer periods). Further studies with data from recently launched and future satellites are needed.  相似文献

Solution of the gradiometric boundary value problems leads to three integral formulas. If we are satisfied with obtaining a smooth solution for the Earth’s gravity field, we can use the formulas in regional gravity field modelling. In such a case, satellite gradiometric data are integrated on a sphere at satellite level and continued downward to the disturbing potential (geoid) at sea level simultaneously. This paper investigates the gravity field modelling from a full tensor of gravity at satellite level. It studies the truncation bias of the integrals as well as the filtering of noise of data. Numerical studies show that by integrating T zz with 1 mE noise and in a cap size of 7°, the geoid can be recovered with an error of 12 cm after the filtering process. Similarly, the errors of the recovered geoids from T xz,yz and T xx-yy, 2xy are 13 and 21 cm, respectively.  相似文献

The general theory of free oscillations is reviewed, and the effect on free oscillations of such factors as heterogeneity, the Earth's rotation and non-sphericity, and the source of the oscillations are discussed. The two principal contributions to the surface heat flow of the earth are the cooling of the earth and the heat production of radioactive isotopes. As the rate of heat production decreases with time the temperature of the interior of the earth also decreases. The rate of decrease is determined by the ability of solid-state mantle convection to transport the heat to the surface. The dominant effect is the exponential temperature dependence of the mantle viscosity. The non-dimensional mantle temperature can be parameterised in terms of the Rayleigh number for mantle convection. It is found that the mantle is currently cooling at a rate of 36°K/109 years and that three billion years ago the mean temperature was 150°K higher than it is today; 83% of the present surface heat flow is attributed to the decay of radioactive isotopes and 17% to the cooling of the earth. The corresponding mean concentration of uranium in the mantle is 32 ppb.  相似文献

现代卫星跟踪卫星重力测量技术显著改善了地球重力场模型的中长波段信号,并拓展了重力场模型在相关科学研究中的应用.同解法作为卫星重力观测数据的主要处理手段之一,国内一直没有实质突破.本文从基本模型和关键技术的分析出发,剖析了同解法的特点,特别是在建立同解法与几何法(运动学)定轨、一般动力学方法关系的基础上,给出了一种同解法的实现路线.在已有的精细数据预处理和并行计算研究基础上,结合GRACE卫星的实测飞行数据,在国内首次获得了真实卫星任务数据条件下的同解法结果,并进行了动力法轨道的外部质量检核、卫星非保守力分析、重力场模型的GPS水准检验等.利用卫星激光测距数据检验,卫星精密轨道的径向精度优于2cm,同时建立了质量可靠的卫星重力场模型,充分展示了同解法的优点.数值结果及其分析表明,本文所提的同解法实施方案合理可行,已经掌握了实现同解法的关键技术,获得了从仿真研究到实际飞行数据处理的新进展.最后,本文对同解法今后的发展思路,以及如何进一步挖掘同解法的潜力,提出了见解和今后的工作方向.  相似文献

本文采用散点图、趋势线、相关系数及观测偏差等统计方法,利用COSMIC卫星和SPIDR提供的垂测仪观测的F2层峰值电子密度数据,开展了综合统计及按季节、地方时和纬度的分类统计.统计结果显示:地基垂测仪与卫星观测到的相应的F2层峰值电子密度数据具有很高的相关性,两者之间的相关系数高达0.95,相对偏差的平均值为-3.38%,标准差为19.54%.基于上述研究结果,提出了利用地面垂测仪观测数据验证卫星观测的电离层结构参数的方法,并给出了定性的判别依据和定量的判别标准,可在我国电磁监测试验卫星发射后,为F2层峰值电子密度观测数据的真实性和有效性提供检验方法和保障.   相似文献

利用2006—2010年的CloudSat热带气旋过境数据集资料,定量分析了大西洋地区飓风的云、降水和热力结构在不同演变阶段内的分布特征,结果表明:雷达反射率的发生概率以5 km高度为"拐点"呈现不同的分布特点,且成熟阶段的回波强度明显大于发展和消亡阶段.各径向环内深对流云发生概率始终最大,积云和雨层云始终最小.冰水含量的最大值位于内核区且沿径向不断减小,有效粒子半径和分布宽度参数随高度减小而粒子数浓度却增大.温度距平在距离中心200 km以内随飓风演变不断增大,而200 km以外始终较小.各阶段8 km以下存在湿心区,而其上方正好对应暖心区.内核区发展阶段存在近饱和区而成熟和消亡阶段存在向外倾斜的未饱和区.各阶段不同径向环内4 km以上主要为稳定层结而4 km以下的层结特性各异,且假相当位温沿径向逐渐减小.  相似文献

在分析地震烈度速报数据传输特点后,提出将卫星通信引入烈度速报系统。通过对目前中国使用较多的北斗卫星、海事卫星、铱卫星系统和VSAT卫星系统进行对比,选取铱星短消息和海事卫星数据流这两种典型通讯方式,设计由通用数字强震仪与卫星通信系统结合地震速报通讯模块组成的实验系统,实现数字强震动记录信息通过卫星信道进行的数据传输,展现卫星通信在地震烈度速报数据传输中的应用前景。  相似文献
