The gravitational radiation of n = 1 polytropes undergoing quasiradial pulsations is examined. The intensity of the gravitational radiation and the gravitational wave amplitudes are calculated for polytropic models of white dwarfs and neutron stars when the energy of rotation of the object serves as the source of the radiated energy. Calculations of h0 show that objects with a polytropic equation of state can describe the expected gravitational radiation from white dwarfs and neutron stars. The gravitational radiation of polytropic models of galactic nuclei and quasars is also examined. These objects can create a high enough background of gravitational radiation at frequencies of 10-8–10-11 Hz for gravitational wave detectors operating in this frequency range. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 48, No. 4, pp. 603–612 (November 2005).  相似文献

This article discusses the gravitational radiation of rotating and oscillating stellar configurations with an incompressible fluid equation of state. The method used here makes it possible to determine the frequencies and amplitudes of the gravitational waves for arbitrary values of the central densities. At the densities corresponding to neutron stars, the major parameters of the gravitational radiation are consistent with previous results from more realistic models. Depending on the central density, stellar configurations with an incompressible fluid can emit gravitational waves over a wide range of frequencies, from 10−2 to 104 Hz. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 49, No. 2, pp. 243–250 (May 2006).  相似文献

The interaction of fragmented plasma of active galactic nuclei jets with galactic haloes via gravitational scattering and lensing by dark matter subhaloes is studied using analytical calculations and numerical Monte-Carlo method. The lensing of jet radiation by halo masses is found to be negligible and unobservable. Moving through a galactic halo jet plasma fragments are sequentially deflected on hyperbolic orbits by gravitational field of subhaloes and deviates at some angles when leaving halo, causing widening of the jet. Based on this model jet opening angles are calculated numerically for various values of jet and halo characteristics. Though these angles are very small, gravitational scattering by halo masses results in specific radial profile of jet radiation intensity, that does not depend on halo mass distribution and jet properties. The intensity of jet radiation, obeying the derived profile, decreases by reasonable observable factors giving possibility to probe the presence of dark matter subhaloes.  相似文献

The effects of eccentricity on the Hamiltonian dynamics of post-Newtonian spinning compact binaries and gravitational radiation from eccentric orbits are discussed. The simulation results of scans for chaos show that the eccentricity has a great effect on the dynamics without considering dissipation due to gravitational radiation. Moreover, both the dynamics behavior and the orbital eccentricity jointly modulate the gravitational waveforms, and the spin–spin coupling effect play an important role during the gravitational radiation of inspiral and coalescence. Moreover, the imprint of characteristic of the original system can be deduced from the time-domain and frequency-domain waveforms.  相似文献

Intense low-frequency intergalactic gravitational radiation with wave lengths λ smaller than the HUBBLE distance λH ≌ 3000 (100/H0) Mpc but not exceedingly small compared to λH. generates anisotropies in the microwave background radiation. One contribution results from the local wave field and produces mainly a quadrupole-type temperature variation on the sky. Available data on large-scale microwave fluctuations do not exclude appreciable amounts of gravitational background radiation in the Megaparsec wave band. A more sensitive test is provided by a second far-field contribution, which has a small angular scale. Its amplitude depends strongly on the ratio of the (present) rest mass density to the HUBBLE constant, if a cosmological origin of the blackbody radiation is assumed. In a low-density universe, pre-galactic COMPTON scattering of the blackbody radiation is not able to reduce the fluctuations caused by the low-frequency gravitational wave field. The recent small-scale data by PARIJSKIJ would allow only small amplitudes of gravitational waves with an energy density significantly below the critical cosmological density. On the other hand, in a high-density universe, the small angular scale fluctuation in the blackbody radiation is completely damped out, and a gravitational radiation cosmos reaching the critical density is admitted. Independent of the matter density, the data by PARIJSKIJ would confine gravitational background radiation to insignificant amplitudes if a discrete source model for the origin of the microwave background has to be assumed.  相似文献

We discuss gravitational radiation from a neutral mass particle within a bound orbit in the background Schwarzschild metric. We compare the power loss of gravitational radiation according to this formalism with the heuristic quadrupole radiation formula as applied to a binary system. There are evidence and compelling reasons to believe that the quadrupole formula is valid even in a fairly strong gravitational field, although its fully consistent analytical derivation is not yet known. In particular, we emphasize that the application of the quadrupole formula to the binary pulsar system PSR 1913+16 as well as other binary pulsars, which are weakly bound by gravity, is well justified.  相似文献

We examine the possible emission of gravitational waves from white dwarfs undergoing self-similar oscillations driven by the energy released during relaxation of their differential rotation. Two distributions of the initial angular momentum are considered. It is assumed that 1% of the energy dissipated by a rotating white dwarf is converted into the energy of self-similar oscillations and, therefore, into gravitational radiation. The relative amplitude of the gravitational radiation from an isolated white dwarf at a distance of 50 pc is found to be less than 10−27. The emission from the galactic population of white dwarfs may create a background which overlaps the random cosmological background of gravitational radiation for the improved decihertz detectors currently being proposed. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 49, No. 2, pp. 231–242 (May 2006).  相似文献

The research on quasar OJ 287 has lasted over 100 years. OJ 287 exhibits the phenomenon of periodic two-peak outbursts with the eruptive period of 12 years. Observations are rather well interpreted with the black hole binary model. In this model, the secondary black hole moves around the primary black hole and crashes against the accretion disk of the primary black hole, causing outbursts. This model reasonably explains the light curves of OJ 287 and correctly predicts the time of future outbursts. These indirectly justify the precessional effect of general relativity and the existence of gravitational waves. The massive black hole in the center of galaxy is an important kind of gravitational wave source. However, the number of the galaxies with precisely determined kinematical equations of inner components is quite small. The precise kinematic orbits of black holes are provided by the black hole binary model, so the radiation of gravitational waves can be studied on the basis of these kinematic orbits. Based on the existing work, the evolutionary relations of the radiation power and waveform of gravitational waves with time are first derived by using the post-Newtonian approximation method. According to the current progress of the detection equipment of gravitational waves, i.e., IPTA (International Pulsar Timing Array), the direct detection of gravitational waves from OJ 287 may be possible within the future decade.  相似文献

On the basis of the calculation of gravitational radiation emission by a linear chain we given a preliminary estimation of the thermal gravitational radiation of lattice structures. Suggesting this as a possible cooling mechanism for neutron stars, we find that the interior of young neutron stars with lattice structure would be cooled down within extremely short times.  相似文献

In the present paper the gravitational radiation emitted from large solar energetic flares and from the Sun as a whole in the course of the generation shock waves and quadrupole oscillations of the solar body are studied. The expected densities of the energy fluxes of the gravitational radiation at the distance of the Earth are calculated.  相似文献

In this work, we have simulated orbits of a particle moving in gravitational field of the Sun-Jupiter system. The effect of solar radiation pressure, including Poynting Robertson drag, on the evolution of particle orbits in phase space have been studied for different values of the parameter β 1 (the ratio of radiation to gravitational force) and initial conditions. Characteristics of various computed trajectories have been studied using wavelet transform (WT), Fourier transform (FT) and Poincare surface of section method. We use wavelet analysis to identify transitions of a trajectory in time-frequency plane and further apply it to classify it as regular or chaotic in phase space. Unlike the Fourier transform method (FT), we observe that the wavelet transform (WT) also provides a basis to identify ‘sticky’ trajectories in the present dynamical system.  相似文献

The influence of the gravitational radiation damping on the time of periastron passage of a binary system is examined. It turns out that the gravitational radiation damping yields secular, periodic and mixed periodic variation of the time of periastron passage. As a consequence, the crossing of the periastron occurs earlier (advance) at each revolution. A numerical estimation of such an effect for eight binary stars is given. The results obtained are discussed.  相似文献

Gravitational waves from mergers of black holes and neutron stars are now being detected by LIGO. Here we look at a new source of gravitational waves, i.e., a class of dark matter objects whose properties were earlier elaborated. We show that the frequency of gravitational waves and strains on the detectors from such objects (including their mergers) could be within the sensitivity range of LIGO. The gravitational waves from the possible mergers of these dark matter objects will be different from those produced by neutron star mergers in the sense that they will not be accompanied by electromagnetic radiation since dark matter does not couple with radiation.

We consider the evolution of a neutron star binary system under the effect of two factors: gravitational radiation and mass transfer between the components. Gravitational radiation is specified under the justified assumption of a circular orbit and point masses and in the approximation of a weak gravitational field at nonrelativistic velocities of the binary components. During the first evolutionary phase determined only by gravitational radiation, the neutron stars approach each other according to a simple analytical solution. The second evolutionary phase begins at the time of Roche-lobe filling by the low-mass component, when the second factor, mass transfer as a result of mass loss by the latter, also begins to affect the evolution. Under the simplest assumptions of conservative mass transfer and exact equality between the Roche-lobe radius and the radius of the low-mass neutron star, it is still possible to extend the analytical solution of the problem of evolution to its second phase. We present this complete solution at both phases and, in particular, give theoretical light curves of gravitational radiation that depend only on two dimensionless parameters (m t and δ 0). Based on the solution found, we analyze the theoretical gravitational signals from SN 1987A; this analysis includes the hypothesis about the rotational explosion mechanism for collapsing supernovae.  相似文献

The gravitational radiation from millisecond pulsars owing to glitches in their angular velocity is examined. It is assumed that the energy transferred from interior superfluid regions to the crust of a neutron star is converted into gravitational wave energy by damping oscillations of the matter in the star. The gravitational wave intensity and amplitude are calculated for fourteen millisecond pulsars. Gravitational radiation can explain the observed spin-down of millisecond pulsars and an estimate is given for the magnetic field at which the proposed mechanism predominates in the spin-down of these pulsars. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 51, No. 3, pp. 479–486 (August 2008).  相似文献

Gravitational radiation from the proper quadrupole momentum variation of asymmetric anticollapsar, which is a model of white and grey holes, is considered within the framework of general relativity. In the white hole model (and grey hole at the anticollapsing stage) in extended space-time manifolds the power of gravitational radiation may attain very high values and can serve as possible source of gravitational wave bursts from Supernova 1987A as well as in Weber's experiments. The correlation between gravitational bursts and bursts of electromagnetic radiation and some features of the latter can be an evidence of such model.  相似文献

We discuss the possibility to obtain an electromagnetic emission accompanying the gravitational waves emitted in the coalescence of a compact binary system. Motivated by the existence of black hole configurations with open magnetic field lines along the rotation axis, we consider a magnetic dipole in the system, the evolution of which leads to (i) electromagnetic radiation, and (ii) a contribution to the gravitational radiation, the luminosity of both being evaluated. Starting from the observations on magnetars, we impose upper limits for both the electromagnetic emission and the contribution of the magnetic dipole to the gravitational wave emission. Adopting this model for the evolution of neutron star binaries leading to short gamma ray bursts, we compare the correction originated by the electromagnetic field to the gravitational waves emission, finding that they are comparable for particular values of the magnetic field and of the orbital radius of the binary system. Finally we calculate the electromagnetic and gravitational wave energy outputs which result comparable for some values of magnetic field and radius.  相似文献

Undamped quasiradial fluctuations of rotating neutron stars and the gravitation radiation generated by them are discussed. Two possible sources of energy for maintaining these fluctuations are mentioned: the energy of deformation of the decelerating neutron star (spin down) and the energy released during a jump in the star's angular velocity (glitch). Expressions are derived for the intensity of the gravitational radiation and the amplitude of a plane gravitational wave for an earthbound observer. Estimates of these quantities are obtained for the Vela and Crab pulsars, for which the secular variation in the angular velocity is most often accompanied by irregular variations. It is shown that gravitational waves from these pulsars could be detected by the new generation of detectors.  相似文献

The gravitational rotation of slowly rotating neutron stars with rough surfaces is examined. The source of the gravitational waves is assumed to be the energy transferred to the crust of the star during irregular changes in its angular rotation velocity. It is shown that individual pulsars whose angular velocity regularly undergoes glitches will radiate a periodic gravitational signal that can be distinguished from noise by the latest generation of detectors. Simultaneous recording of a gravitational signal and of a glitch in the angular velocity of a pulsar will ensure reliable detection of gravitational radiation. __________ Translated from Astrofizika, Vol. 49, No. 2, pp. 221–229 (May 2006).  相似文献

A statement of the problem of gravitational collapse and a computational method are described. The main feature of the collapse — its extremely high heterogeneity — is taken into account. The structure of a collapsing star is characterized by a dense and hot nucleon core which is opaque with respect to neutrino radiation and is embedded in to and extended envelope, almost transparent to neutrinos. The envelope is gradually being accreted onto the core. The enormous amount of energy, radiated in the form of neutrinos and antineutrinos, make us pay particular attention to relatively small absorption of neutrino radiation by extended envelope (so-called energy of deposition). The inclusion of the energy deposition in the calculations is of importance for the problem of transformation of an implosion into an explosion. The deposition is taken into consideration in the approximation of diluted neutrino radiation which escapes from neutrino photosphere and is partially absorbed in the envelope. Both the generation of energy due to deposition and the change of neutronto-proton ratio are taken into account. The increase of the mass of the core, which is opaque with respect to neutrino radiation, is fully taken into account in the calculations of the gravitational collapse.  相似文献
