A new two-bandpass birefringent filter has been produced at ISTP, Irkutsk for the investigation of the fine structure of the chromosphere. One filter passband is centered on the Hei 10830 Å line, the second one is centered on H. The FWHM of the Hei 10830 Å passband is 0.46 Å and of the H passband is 0.3 Å. A large number of filtergrams were obtained with the filter at the Sayan observatory. At the same time, spectral observations with high spatial and spectral resolution were carried out by the large solar vacuum telescope at the Baikal Observatory. We selected 29 `dark point' spectra with sizes from 2 to 13, as well as `dark points' on the filtergrams. Comparison of spectrograms and filtergrams has shown a good agreement of their size and intensity in relation with the surrounding chromosphere as well as the absence of primary line-of-sight velocities in both observation types. From spectral observations, the depth of 10830 Å is over 30% for some `dark points', and the FWHM is more than 1 Å. Hei 10830 Å line profiles in `dark points' are more deep and wide than in quiet regions. The optical depth of the chromosphere in `dark points' is estimated. Comparison with the unperturbed chromosphere showed that `dark points' in Hei 10830 Å are more optically thin than the nearby chromosphere.  相似文献

The continuum energy distribution of six Be stars, namely 25 Cyg, 31 Peg, HR 8758, 14 Lac, 12 Vul, and Psc, in the wavelength region 3200–7800 Å, are presented. Comparing the observed energy distributions with those of theoretical models given by Kurucz (1979), their effective temperatures are determined.A near-infrared excess emission at wavelengths above 6000 Å is seen in most of the stars.  相似文献

R-matrix calculations of electron impact excitation rates in Nixviii are used to derive theoretical electron-temperature-sensitive emission line ratios involving 3s–4p,3p–4d,3p –4s, and 3d–4f transitions in the 41–53 Å wavelength range. A comparison of these with solar flare observations from a rocket-borne X-ray spectrograph (XSST) reveals generally excellent agreement between theory and experiment (within the experimental and theoretical uncertainties), which provides support for the atomic data adopted in the analysis. However the 3s 2S–4p 2P1/2 line of Nixviii at 41.22 Å appears to be blended with the Fexix 13.74 Å feature observed by XSST in third order. In addition, the measured Nixviii intensity ratio I(3p 2P3/2– 4s 2S)/I(3p 2P1/2–4s 2S)=I(51.02 Å)/I(50.26 Å)=0.56, a factor of 3.8 smaller than the theoretical (temperature and density-insensitive) value of 2.1. The reason for this discrepancy is currently unexplained, but is unlikely to be due to blending of the 50.26 Å line, as the intensity of this feature is consistent with that expected from the other Nixviii lines in the XSST spectrum. Future observations of the Nixviii lines by the Advanced X-ray Astrophysics Facility (AXAF) should allow this problem to be resolved, and may also permit the use of the lines as electron-temperature diagnostics.  相似文献

We used slit spectra from the 18 November 1997 flight of Goddard Space Flight Center's Solar EUV Rocket Telescope and Spectrograph (SERTS-97) to measure relative wavelength shifts of coronal emission lines as a function of position across NOAA active region 8108. The shifts are measured relative to reference wavelengths derived from spectra of the region's nearby quiet surroundings (not necessarily at rest) because laboratory rest wavelengths for the coronal EUV lines have not been measured to sufficient accuracy for this work. An additional benefit to this approach is that any systematic uncertainties in the wavelength measurements are eliminated from the relative shifts by subtraction. We find statistically significant wavelength shifts between the spatially resolved active region slit spectra and the reference spectrum. For He ii 303.78 Å the maximum measured relative red shift corresponds to a Doppler velocity +13 km s–1, and the maximum relative blue shift corresponds to a Doppler velocity –3 km s–1. For Si x 347.40 Å, Si xi 303.32 Å, Fe xiv 334.17 Å, and Fe xvi 335.40 Å the corresponding maximum relative Doppler velocities are +19 and –14, +23 and –7, +10 and –10, and +13 and –5 km s–1, respectively. The active region appears to be divided into two different flow areas; hot coronal lines are predominantly red-shifted in the northern half and either blue-shifted or nearly un-shifted in the southern half. This may be evidence that material flows up from the southern part of the region, and down into the northern part. Qualitatively similar relative wavelength shifts and flow patterns are obtained with SOHO/CDS spectra.  相似文献

Résumé Huit photographies monochromatiques (=2000 Å) au bord du soleil sont analysées en vue de mettre en évidence la granulation dans le domaine ultra-violet lointain. La fenêtre spectrale est définie par deux filtres interférentiels qui donnent une bande passante à mi-hauteur de 125 Å. Ces clichés de haute résolution ont été obtenus en ballon stratosphérique à une altitude de 30 500 m en profitant d'une fenêtre de transparence atmosphérique et en utilisant un télescope Cassegrain de 20 cm d'ouverture dont la résolution atteint 1. Ce télescope était porté par un dispositif pointeur de soleil dont la stabilité à court terme était meilleure que 2. Les clichés ont été pris à intervalles de 210 secondes avec un temps de pose de 0.25 seconde. On observe d'une part des variations de brillance grossières de largeur comprise entre 10 et 20 qui sont interprétées comme microfacules chromosphériques de durée de vie supérieure à 1/2 heure. On observe d'autre part une granulation dont la distribution densitométrique pour laquelle on a calculé les fonctions de corrélation et de structure présente une corrélation limitée à une distance angulaire de 4.
Summary Eight ultra-violet monochromatic pictures at the limb of the sun are analyzed for evidence of granulation in this spectral range ( = 2000 Å). The spectral window (125 Å) is defined by two interference filters. These high-resolution pictures were obtained with a 20 cm Cassegrain telescope carried at 30 500 m of altitude by a stratospheric balloon. The resolution of the telescope is 1. The instrument is mounted on a sunpointing control of excellent short time stability (2). The pictures were taken at intervals of 210 seconds with a 0.25 second exposure. Large brilliant irregularities 10 to 20 in diameter are interpreted as chromospheric microfaculae with a half-hour lifetime. On the other hand, the smaller irregularities are interpreted as ultra-violet granulation. Using the correlation and structure functions, the analysis of the density distribution shows that spatial correlation of these irregularities is limited to a 4 range.

Some results of observations of the spectrum of the spectroscopic-binary Ap star CrB in the region of the lithium line Li I 6708Å are presented. The observations were made at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory over the period 1993–1995 with the coudé spectrograph equipped with a CCD camera on the 2.6-m telescope. Several factors which can affect the behavior of the lithium blend are examined: stellar rotation, magnetic field, isotopic shift, the binary system, and blending by unidentified elements. The principal result of this work is the detection of variability of the lithium blend Li I 6708Å over the period of rotation of the star. The variations of the radial velocity Vr, and the FWHM of the lithium blend are reported here for the first time. They indicate either a nonuniform distribution of lithium or a nonuniform distribution of conditions for excitation of the lithium resonance doublet in the complex structure of the strong surface magnetic field. One-armedglobal oscillations in a non-selfgravitating polytropic disk rotating around a star are investigated. The unperturbed disk is axisymmetric, geometrically thin, and extends infinitely in the radial direction keeping its thickness constant. Perturbations considered are inviscid and adiabatic. It is found that there are one-armed retrograde wave modes which are trapped in an inner region of the disk. The eignefrequency of the lowest order mode is given by K(r s)(z 0/r s)2, wherer s is the radius of the central star,z 0 is the half-thickness of the disk, and K(r s) is the Keplerian angular frequency at the surface of the star.Paper presented at the IAU Third Asian-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in Kyoto, Japan, between 30 September–6 October, 1984.  相似文献

Synoptic photoelectric observations of the coronal Fexiv and Fex emission lines at 530.3 nm and 637.4 nm, respectively, are analyzed to study the rotational behavior of the solar corona as a function of latitude, height, time and temperature between 1976 (1983 for Fex) and 2001. An earlier similar analysis of the Fexiv data at 1.15 R over only one 11-year solar activity cycle (Sime, Fisher, and Altrock, 1989, Astrophys. J. 336, 454) found suggestions of solar-cycle variations in the differential (latitude-dependent) rotation. These results are tested over the longer epoch now available. In addition, the new Fexiv 1.15 R results are compared with those at 1.25 R and with results from the Fex line. I find that for long-term averages, both ions show a weakly-differential rotation period that may peak near 80° latitude and then decrease to the poles. However, this high-latitude peak may be due to sensing low-latitude streamers at higher latitudes. There is an indication that the Fexiv rotation period may increase with height between 40° and 70° latitude. There is also some indication that Fex may be rotating slower than Fexiv in the mid-latitude range. This could indicate that structures with lower temperatures rotate at a slower rate. As found in the earlier study, there is very good evidence for solar-cycle-related variation in the rotation of Fexiv. At latitudes up to about 60°, the rotation varies from essentially rigid (latitude-independent) near solar minimum to differential in the rising phase of the cycle at both 1.15 R and 1.25 R . At latitudes above 60°, the rotation at 1.15 R appears to be nearly rigid in the rising phase and strongly differential near solar minimum, almost exactly out of phase with the low-latitude variation.  相似文献

We give the fifth list of red stars of the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey. The objects are located in the zone 5h 18h 30m and +65 +69. The list contains the data on 18 new objects, one of which is a star of class R. The far-infrared extinction spectra of fused silica grains with the size range from 1.8 m to 60 Å were measured. The spectra depend clearly on the grain size. For large grain sizes (from 1.8 m to 400 Å) the spectra show almost the –2 dependence ( is the wavelength), which resembles that of the bulk material. For fine grains (70 and 60 Å) the spectra are less steep, the wavelength dependence being –1. This grain size dependence of extinction spectra agrees essentially with the prediction of Seki and Yamamoto.  相似文献

The cooling effect of emission in the spectral lines, which dominates over continuous emission in the chromosphere and becomes important first around the temperature minimum, modifies greatly the radiative relaxation timet r in the solar atmosphere. This rises from low photospheric values to a maximum of 8 min just aboveT min, falls in the low chromosphere to 1.5 min because of line emission, but rises again to 6 min atT 7000–8400 K in the chromosphere where hydrogen ionization increases the specific heat.  相似文献

Simultaneous observations of chromospheric (H) and photospheric (Fei 5324.19 Å) magnetograms in quiet solar regions enable us to study the spatial configuration of the magnetic field in the solar atmosphere. With the typical spatial resolution of the Huairou magnetograph, the photospheric and chromospheric magnetic structures of the quiet Sun maintain a very similar pattern. Moreover, the vertical magnetic flux is almost the same from the photosphere to the chromosphere. As an intermediate step, we analyze the formation of the working lines used by the Huairou video magnetograph of the Beijing Astronomical Observatory. The Stokes V contribution function of H and Fei 5324.19 Å are calculated. It is found that our H magnetograms provide the distribution of the chromospheric magnetic field at a height some 1000–1500 km above the photosphere.  相似文献

Photometric reductions of the spectrograms obtained during the third flight of the Soviet Stratopsheric Solar Station are discussed. A comparison of photometric scans in H and its far wings near to the continuum leads to the conclusion that chromospheric mottles are at least several times broader than photospheric granules. The optimum size of mottles is about 0.8–1.1. The H profiles of mottles are practically the same as those obtained from the ground observations. The broadening of mottles is considered as an effect of expansion of magnetic arcs growing up to chromospheric levels.  相似文献

The relevant data for the known 147 pulsars are presented in graphical and tabular forms. Various data correlations are discussed, and a detailed analysis of pulsar dispersion measures and distances is given. The range of the electron densities in the diffuse interstellar medium is found to be 0.01 cm–3n e0.1 cm–3, and n e0.03 cm–3. The dispersion scale height for pulsars is found to be 5.9±0.7 pc cm–3 implying a linear scale height of 200 pc, which is much smaller than the electron scale height of our Galaxy.Astrophysics and Space Science Review Paper.  相似文献

The purpose of this paper is to study, for small values of , the three-dimensional pq resonant orbits that are close to periodic second species solutions (SSS) of the restricted three-body problem. The work is based on an analytic study of the in- and out-maps. These maps are associated to follow, under the flow of the problem, initial conditions on a sphere of radius around the small primary, and consider the images of those initial points on the same sphere. The out-map is associated to follow the flow forward in time and the in-map backwards. For both mappings we give analytical expressions in powers of the mass parameter. Once these expressions are obtained, we proceed to the study of the matching equations between both, obtaining initial conditions of orbits that will be 'periodic' with an error of the order 1–, for some (1/3,1/2). Since, as 0, the inner solution and the outer solution will collide with the small primary, these orbits will be close to SSS.  相似文献

It is shown theoretically that the emission efficiency of amorphous grains with radii smaller than 100 Å has a -1-dependence in the wavelength region longer than 100 , whereas those of crystalline, metallic, and larger amorphous grains are proportional to -2 in far infrared. We have observed 10 solar bursts during the thermal phase using the Haystack radio telescope at 22 GHz. We show that these high frequency flux observations, when compared with soft X-ray band fluxes, give useful information about the temperature profile in the flare loops. The microwave and X-ray band fluxes provide determinations of the maximum loop temperature, the total emission measure, and the index of the differential emission measure (q(T)/T = cT–1). The special case of an isothermal loop ( = ) has been considered previously by Thomas et al. (1985), and we confirm their diagnostic calculations for the GOES X-ray bands, but find that the flare loops we observed departed significantly from the isothermal regime. Our results ( = 1–3.5) imply that, during the late phases of flares, condensation cooling ( 3.5) competes with radiative cooling ( 1.5). Further, our results appear to be in good agreement with previous deductions from XUV rocket spectra ( 2–3).  相似文献

We discuss in this paper the possibility of interpreting the 2200 Å band occurring in the interstellar extinction curves as being attributed to porous graphite. The results show that grains with radii smaller than 0.015 m and a porosity degree within the values 0.02f0.25 are able to fit satisfactorily the peak at 4.6 m–1 and the band shape between 4 and 5.2 m–1. Consideration of the expected density for such particles seems to confirm that interstellar grains may be porous but, at the same time, suggests that care must be taken when data concerning dust in the solar system are extrapolated to the interstellar space.  相似文献

UBV light curves and spectrograms of R CMa obtained with the 48-inch telescope of Japal-Rangapur Observatory during 1980–82 have been used for deriving the eclipse and orbital elements as well as the absolute dimensions of the components. The primary is found to be a Main-Sequence F2V star of mass 1.52M and the secondary a subgiant star of spectral type G8 and mass 0.20M which fills its Roche lobe, in agreement with Kopal and Shapley (1956) results, Kopal (1959), or Sahade's (1963) results. From a consideration of the possible evolution of this system it is concluded that a large fraction of the original mass of the secondary is lost from the system.
