The results of photometric observations of comet/asteroid 2060 Chiron at the Observatório do Pico dos Dias (Brazil-OPD) and the Observatoire de Haute-Provence (France-OHP) during 1994 and 1995 are presented. The analysis of the data shows a decrease of 2060 Chiron brightness from its peak values of 1988–1991. The absolute magnitude, Hv, varies from a maximum of 6.6 in February 1994 up to a minimum of 6.8 in June 1995. Therefore 2060 Chiron is back to a minimum of activity close to that of 1983–1985. The slope parameter G is found to be G = 0.71 ± 0.15. It is suggested that the H-G magnitude system, generally adopted to present 2060 Chiron brightness, is not the most appropriate due to the cometary activity of this object.  相似文献

The results of photometric observations of Centaur object Chiron carried out at the Observatório do Pico dos Dias (OPD, Brazil), the Estación Astrof?́sica de Bosque Alegre (EABA, Argentina), and Complejo Astronómico El Leoncito (CASLEO, Argentina) from 1997 to 2001 are presented here. The analysis of the photometric data shows that the brightness of Chiron reached a minimum value in 1999 and began increasing again in 2000. The absolute magnitude, HV, varied from 7.26 in June 1999 to 5.78 in April 2001. The data tend to indicate that Chiron is starting a new outburst of activity which is compatible with a sporadic cometary behavior not related to heliocentric distance.  相似文献

Five-color (λλ = 0.36?0.85 μm) and thermal infrared (λ = 22.5 μm) photometric observations of the unusual asteroid 2060 Chiron were made. Between 0.36 and 0.85 μm, Chiron's reflectance spectrum is similar to those of C-class asteroids as well as Saturn's satellite Phoebe. However, the thermal IR measurements imply an albedo≥0.05 (i.e., a diameter ≤250 kmat the level 2σ level) that is probably higher than those of C-class asteroids or Phoebe.  相似文献

Nearly one century of spectroscopic and photometric observations of eclipsing binary TX UMa offer a good opportunity for studying evolutionary processes in this system. Extensive spectroscopic observations carried out with the D.A.O. high-dispersion spectrographs in 1969–70 and at the Ondejov Observatory in 1972–80 cover all radial velocity curve with particular emphasis on phases within primary minimum of the light curve. The manifestations of interacting processes as well as the presence of the spectrum of secondary component are examined in the ever changing line spectra. Photometric observations having been collected at the Skalnaté Pleso Observatory since 1966 display orbital period changes. Evolution of period changes using this photometric material in connection with the published data is presented.  相似文献

Results of the first polarimetric observations of Centaurs (5145) Pholus and (10199) Chariklo, and new observations of (2060) Chiron are presented together with the estimates of their absolute magnitudes. Observations were carried out at the 8 m ESO Very Large Telescope in 2007-2008. They revealed noticeable negative polarization in the phase-angle range 0.5-4.4° with a minimum varying from −1% to −2.1% in the R band. All three objects show diverse polarization phase-angle behaviour, each distinctly different from that of transneptunian objects. We found evidence of surface heterogeneity for Chariklo while Chiron and Pholus appear to have rather homogeneous surfaces. Polarization phase behaviours of Chiron and Pholus are significantly different from any other Solar System bodies studied so far. A shift of negative polarization minima toward small phase angles seems to be a characteristic feature of polarization properties of Centaurs. Presence of a small amount of water frost on a dark surface is considered as one of the possible ways to explain these properties.  相似文献

A detailed two colour (BV) photoelectric photometry of the late-type eclipsing binary AD BOO was carried out in 1981 April–May. We found its period to be 2.0688112 d, double what was thought previously. The light curve outside the eclipses is basically flat with Irregular fluctuations of ˜0.075 mag. It is basically an Algol-type curve, with a principal minimum of 0.65 mag and a secondary minimum of 0.40 mag. The O-C diagram of the minimum epoch shows that the period has tended to increase. The photometric solution by the classical Russel-Merrill method gives k = 0.786. The principal minimum corresponds to a partial eclipse of the transit type.  相似文献

Two outbursts and a minimum phase of the dwarf nova CN Orionis have been observed spectroscopically. One outburst was covered almost completely. The outburst spectra show periodic variations of the absorption lines which are interpreted with the formation of an elliptic disc during outburst stage. During decline from outburst a narrow emission line appears in the core of the broad H absorption line. The balmer decrement in the outburst phase is much steeper than in the minimum phase. This implies that during the outburst the emission line region is located more outward in the disk. The semi amplitude of the radial velocity curve was determined to K1=152 km/s±10 km/s. Optical photometric observations at the I and R wavebands were carried out towards Mkn501 using the 1.56 meter optical telescope of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory at Sheshan. Combining our new observations with the published historical data, we have obtained the light curves of Mkn501 at the optical, infrared and radio wavebands with a time coverage of nearly 80 years. The relationship between the light variability and the color index is discussed, it is found that a strong correlation exists between the color indices (BV) and (BR), with the correlation coefficient reaching r = 0.73. The correlations of multi-band light variabilities are analyzed by the DCF method, it is found that certain positive correlations of B-band light variability with the 4.8 GHz and infrared light variabilities exist. And the spectral analysis on the B-band light curve with the CLEANest method indicates that the light curve of Mkn501 contains probably two periodical components of (10.06 ± 0.04) yr and (21.60 ± 0.17) yr.  相似文献

The behavior of the symbiotic nova RT Ser from 1940 to 1994 from photographic observations made at the Gissar Observatory (1940–1978) and BVR-band observations at the Crimean Observatory (1983–1994) is analyzed. The outburst lightcurve shows a linear decline at a rate of 0m.06 per year. It appears from the nature of the outburst attenuation that the fading, having already lasted about 80 yr, is still continuing. Judging from the color indices, the principal contribution to the visible light from the system is made by a cool, late-type red giant and hot gas the source of which is, as yet, unknown. The photometric variability observed in the BVR bands with a characteristic time of 10 yr is confirmed by photographic observations of 1928–1978. There has been much speculation about the extended minimum between Solar Cycles 23 and 24. Cycle 24 itself has been unusually weak compared with recent cycles. We present quantitative evidence for the weakness of both Cycles 23 and, particularly, 24. The data are objective indices derived from precision photometric images obtained on a daily basis at the San Fernando Observatory. These data form the longest running, homogeneous photometric record known to us. We show sunspot areas from red images and facular/network areas from Ca ii K-line images. Spot and facular area are a simple and direct measurement of the strength of solar activity. The data clearly show the decline in the amplitude of sunspot maxima for Cycles 23 and 24 compared with Cycle 22. The relative amplitudes of mean spot area for Cycles 22 through 24 are 1.0, 0.74, and 0.37, respectively. There is also an indication that the facular-to-spot area ratio has increased in Cycle 24.  相似文献

We present follow‐up observations of comet 17/P Holmes after its extreme outburst in brightness, which occurred end of October 2007. We obtained 58 V‐band images of the comet between October 2007 and February 2008, using the Cassegrain‐Teleskop‐Kamera (CTK) at the University Observatory Jena. We present precise astrometry of the comet, which yields its most recent Keplerian orbital elements. Furthermore, we show that the comet's coma expands quite linearly with a velocity of about 1650 km/s between October and December 2007. We present an analysis of the results of photometric investigations of two distant comets, C/2002 VQ94 (LINEAR) and 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann-1, obtained with the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The comets under study demonstrate sufficient activity out of the zone of water ice sublimation (at heliocentric distances longer than 5 AU). In the spectra of the investigated comets, we found the CO+ and N2+ emission. The presence of this emission may say that the comets were formed in the outer parts of the Solar System, in a protoplanetary cloud at a temperature ≤25 K. We found that the photometric maximum of the ionosphere (in the CO+ filter) of the comet C/2002 VQ94 (LINEAR) is shifted relative to the photometric center of the dust coma by 1.4″ (7.44 × 103 km) in the direction deflected by 63° from the direction to the Sun. Using special filters to process the images, we picked out active structures (jets) in the dust coma of the 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann-1 comet.  相似文献

Observations of solar radio emission at 3 cm wavelength have been made at Japal-Rangapur Observatory for 1980–1981, the solar maximum year using the 3 m radio telescope. The correlation between microwave solar emissions and the sunspot activity on monthly basis has been found to be high during the maximum phase and in the high cm wavelength band. The basic component has been estimated statistically for successive solar rotations using the data obtained at Japal-Rangapur Observatory. Further, this was compared with the data obtained at other cm wavelengths during 1980–1981 and the solar minimum period 1975–1976 of the 21st cycle. The comparison showed pronounced dips in flux levels at different wavelengths during the summer months of the solar maximum year which may be attributed to the presence of coronal holes in the various levels of the solar atmosphere. The computed basic component values showed pronounced variation at high cm wavelengths for the solar maximum period with dissimilar variations at different wavelengths. New UBV photometric observations of IU Aur were made at McDonald Observatory in December 1984 and January 1985, showing that the eclipse depth had kept on increasing and the light minimum time had shown periodic changes. Orbital elements were obtained using the Wilson-Devinney method. The inclination is now close to 90°. The continuous variation of inclination over the last few decades suggests the presence of a third body. Absolute parameters of IU Aur were calculated with the help of Mammano's spectral data.  相似文献

Results are presented from a study of 27 spectra of the flare star HU Del obtained during 2000–2002 on the 2.6 meter telescope at the Byurakan Observatory. Two flares were detected, along with a weak correlation between the equivalent widths of the Hα and Hβ emission lines. At the time of the photometric maximum of a flare the equivalent widths of both these lines are minimal and reach their maximum only significantly afterward. A strong increase in the Hβ line intensity is observed which appears to be the consequence of a photometrically undetected, short-duration flare. It is noted that the Abel integral of a Gaussian function is a Gaussian function. This special property is used in order to develop an analytic method for studying photometric profile in Planetary Nebulae. Monochromatic observations have been made at the Haute-Provence Observatory using the RCA-CCD (320×512 pixels) mounted at theF/6 Newtonian focus of the 1.2 m telescope. Among the observed nebulae, two of them (NGC 6778 and NGC 7354) are regular enough to test the photometric profile method. The nebular emissivity per volume unit is then obtained for H+ and O++ ions.  相似文献

The star was followed photoelectrically in two colors through five consecutive nights in 1968 at Kitt Peak National Observatory. The light of the fainter visual component (a physical companion) was excluded. At primary minimum the system undergoes a total eclipse lasting 25 min. New internally consistent elements have been derived. A subluminous region on the larger star can be located. The previous light curve by Abrami leads to the same geometrical elements but to different photometric elements even when freed from the light of the distant companion. The paper appeared inAstron.
