Loop flares are given a new magnetodynamic interpretation. In this model, the top of the magnetic loop is heated up by a collision of magnetic twist-wave packets (non-linear torsional Alfven wave) which are produced in the process of the loop emergence, and stored and released from the footpoints of the loop with some retardation. The appearance of the blueshifted component in CaXIX and FeXXV lines a minute or so before the impulsive phase, and the so-called instantaneous acceleration of ions deduced from the nearly simultaneous (with a delay of seconds) occurrence of -ray line emission with the impulsive hard X rays, are very naturally explained in the present model which originally aims at providing an explanation of the source of energy, a blackbox located at the top of the loop in the loop flare theories discussed thus far.  相似文献

DOUBLE-LOOP CONFIGURATION OF SOLAR FLARES   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
Hanaoka  Yoichiro 《Solar physics》1997,173(2):319-346
We analyzed several flares, which are presumed to be caused by interactions between an emerging loop and an overlying loop. We call such a basic combination of loops a double-loop configuration, and we reveal its topology on the basis of the microwave and soft X-ray observations of the flares and the magnetograms. In many cases, the magnetic field of the flare loops shows a bipolar + remote unipolar structure, rather than a quadrapole structure. The footpoints of two loops are distributed in three magnetic patches, and two of the footpoints of the loops, one from the emerging loop and the other from the overlying loop, are included in a single magnetic polarity patch. Therefore, the two loops form a three-legged structure, and the two loops are not anti-parallel as assumed in the traditional reconnection models. Typically, the emergence of a parasitic polarity near the major preceding-polarity region or the following one in an active region creates this configuration, but, in one of the analyzed flares, two active regions are involved in the configuration. Not only the flares, but various other active phenomena – microflares, thermal plasma flows like jets, and surges – occur in the same magnetic configuration. Hence, the interaction between two loops, which forms the three-legged structure, is an important source of the various types of activity.  相似文献

A semi-continuous hierarchy, (i.e., one in which there are galaxies outside clusters, clusters outside superclusters etc.), is examined using an expression of the field equations of general relativity in a form due to Podurets, Misner and Sharp. It is shown (a) that for a sufficiently populous hierarchy, the thinning factor( i+1/ i [r i /r i+1] is approximately equal to the exponentN in a continuous density law (=aR –N) provided (r i /r i+1)3-1; (b) that a hierarchical Universe will not look decidedly asymmetric to an observer like a human being because such salient observers live close to the densest elements of the hierarchy (viz stars), the probability of the Universe looking spherically symmetric (dipole anisotropy0.1 to such an observer being of order unity; (c) the existence of a semi-continuous or continuous hierarchy (Peebles) requires that 2 if galaxies, not presently bound to clusters were once members of such systems; (d) there are now in existence no less than ten arguments for believing 2, though recent number counts by Sandageet al. seem to be in contradiction to such a value; (e) Hubble's law, withH independent of distance, can be proved approximately in a relativistic hierarchy provided (i)N=2, (ii)2GM(R)/c 2 R1; (iii)Rc (iv)M0 in a system of massM, sizeR (f) Hubble's law holds also in a hierarchy with density jumps; (g)H100 km s–1 Mpc–1; (h) objects forming the stellar level of the hierarchy (in a cosmology of the Wilson type) must once have had 2GM/c 2 R1; (i) there is a finite pressurep=2Ga in all astrophysical systems (a=R N ,N2); (j) for the Galaxy, theory predictsp G7×10–12 dyn cm–2, observation givesp G5×10–12 dyn cm–2; (k) if the mass-defect (or excess binding energy) hypothesis is taken as a postulate, all non-collapsed astrophysical systems must be non-static, and any non-static, p0 systems must in any case be losing mass; (1) the predicted mass-loss rate from the Sun is 1012 g s–1, compared to 1011 g s–1 in the observed solar wind; (m) the mass-loss rates known by observation imply timescales of 5×109 years for the Sun and 1010 years for other astrophysical systems; (n) degenerate superdense objects composed of fermions must haveN-2 if they were ever at their Schwarzschild radii and comprised a finite numberN B of baryons; (o)N B1057N for degenerate fermion and boson systems; (p)285-4; (q) the metric coefficients for superdense bodies give equations of motion that imply equal maximum luminosities for all evolving superdense bodies (L max1059 erg s–1); (r) larger bodies have longer time-scales of energy radiation atL max (10–5 s for stars,1 h for QSO's) (s) expansion velocities are c soon after the initial loss of equilibrium in a superdense object; (t) if the density parametera(t) in aR –N isa=a (non-atomic constants of physicsc, G, A), andA, thenN=2; (u) N2 is necessary to giveMM at the stellar level of the hierarchy;(v) systems larger than, and including, galaxies must have formed by clumping of smaller systems and not (as advocated by Wertz and others) in a multiple big bang.  相似文献

The RS CVn binary stellar system HR 1099 is a source of both X-ray and radio flares. We present here a model of the system in which the two types of flare are produced by the same population of mildly-relativistic ( 10) electrons, injected into a coronal loop. After reviewing possible radiation mechanisms we conclude that, given the probable conditions in the flaring region, the radio emission is gyrosynchrotron radiation and the X-ray emission is thermal bremsstrahlung. The thermal X-ray source must lie in the stellar chromosphere, but the apparent absence of plasma absorption at radio frequencies indicates that the radio source is located high in the coronal loop. Using the relationships given by Dulk and Marsh (1982) for the radio emission from a power-law electron energy spectrum,N() ( - 1), we conclude that 3 7, with 30% of the electron population trapped in the radio source. Some implications of these results for one particular version of the model are discussed.  相似文献

A critical examination of the components of the recent impulsive loop flare model of Takakura is made. It is found that his analysis of the stability of the electron distribution resulting from anomalous heat conduction is in error and electron plasma waves would not be excited. Rather, in the regions where the electron/proton temperature ratioT e/T i 10, electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves would be excited and in the regions whereT e 10, ion-acoustic waves would be excited. Ratios ofT e/T i 10 occur only in the late time development behind the conduction fronts. Since the anomalous resistivity due to electrostatic ion-cyclotron waves is fortuitously about 70% of the one used by Takakura, the general development will follow closely the one calculated by him. Because the anomalous resistivity due to ion-acoustic waves is about 95 times the one used by Takakura, the development in the parts of the loop whereT e/T i 10 for late times would be altered considerably. Also Guest Worker at NOAA Space Environment Laboratory, Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new parameter, the shear angle of vector magnetic fields, , to describe the non-potentiality of magnetic fields in active regions, which is defined as the angle between the observed vector magnetic field and its corresponding current-free field. In the case of highly inclined field configurations, this angle is approximately equal to the angular shear, , defined by Hagyardet al. (1984). The angular shear, , can be considered as the projection of the shear angle, , on the photosphere. For the active region studied, the shear angle, , seems to have a better and neater correspondence with flare activity than does . The shear angle, , gives a clearer explanation of the non-potentiality of magnetic fields. It is a better measure of the deviation of the observed magnetic field from a potential field, and is directly related to the magnetic free energy stored in non-potential fields.  相似文献

An analysis of the effects of Hall current on hydromagnetic free-convective flow through a porous medium bounded by a vertical plate is theoretically investigated when a strong magnetic field is imposed in a direction which is perpendicular to the free stream and makes an angle to the vertical direction. In this paper, a technique of recursive analysis is developed for the integral transform A of the exponential integral functionsE n which is denoted as n (). The main result of this analysis enables us to establish a two-term recurrence formula for n (0) and a three-term recurrence formula for n (); 0. A computational algorithm based on these formulae is also constructed and its numerical results forn=2(1)25 are presented to 15-digit accuracy.  相似文献

The general conception of the critical inclinations and eccentricities for theN-planet problem is introduced. The connection of this conception with the existence and stability of particular solutions is established. In the restricted circular problem of three bodies the existence of the critical inclinations is proved for any values of the ratio of semiaxes . The asymptotic behaviour of the critical inclinations as 1 is investigated.

This investigation centers upon the quantifying magnetic twist by the parameter , commonly defined as (×Bh)z/Bz=0Jz/Bz, and its derivation from vector magnetograph data. This parameter can be evaluated at each spatial point where the vector B is measured, but one may also calculate a single value of to describe the active region as a whole, here called 'AR'. We test three methods to calculate such a parameter, examine the influence of data noise on the results, and discuss the limitations associated with assigning such a quantity. The three methods discussed are (1) to parameterize the distribution of (x,y) using moments of its distribution, (2) to determine the slope of the function Jz(x,y)=ARBz(x,y) using a least-squares fit and (3) to determine the value of for which the horizontal field from a constant- force-free solution most closely matches the observed horizontal magnetic field. The results are qualitatively encouraging: between methods, the resulting value of the ARparameter is often consistent to within the uncertainties, even though the resulting ARcan differ in magnitude, and in some cases in sign as well. The worst discrepancies occur when a minimal noise threshold is adopted for the data. When the calculations are restricted to detections of 3 or better, there is, in fact, fair quantitative agreement between the three methods. Still, direct comparison of different active regions using disparate methods must be carried out with caution. The discrepancies, agreements, and overall robustness of the different methods are discussed. The effects of instrumental limitations (spatial resolution and a restricted field-of-view) on an active-region AR, and quantifying the validity of AR, are addressed in Paper II (Leka, 1999).  相似文献

By use of the dispersion equation given by Song, Wu, and Dryer (1987) for a cylinder plasma with mass motion and gravity included, we investigate the linear current instabilities developed in loop prominences. The results indicate that the mode of linear instability depends mainly on whetherv s 2 > or not, wherev s is the sonic velocity at heightz, =GM/(R +z) is the gravity potential,G the gravitational constant,M andR the mass and the radius of the Sun respectively. Ifv s 2 > , then the sausage instability will be dominant. Otherwise, the kink instability will be more important. A possible explanation of knot structure, which appears sometimes in solar loop prominences has been given.  相似文献

Using a simple model in which the corona is represented by the half-space domain = {z > 0} and the photosphere by the boundary plane = {z = 0}, we discuss some important aspects of the general problem of the reconstruction of the magnetic field B in a small isolated coronal region from the values of the vector B¦ measured by a magnetograph over its whole basis. Assuming B to be force-free in : (i) we derive a series of relations which must be necessarily satisfied by the boundary field B¦ , and then by the magnetograph data if the force-free assumption is actually correct; (ii) we show how to extract directly from the measured B¦ some useful informations about the energy of B in and the topological structure of its field lines; (iii) we present a critical discussion of the two methods which have been proposed so far for computing effectively B in from B¦ .  相似文献

The Main-Sequence positions as well as the evolutionary behavior of Population III stars up to an evolution age of 2×1010 yr, taking this time as the age of the Universe, have been investigated in the mass range 0.2 and 0.8M . While Population III stars with masses greater than 0.3M develop a radiative core during the approach to the Main Sequence, stars with masses smaller than 0.3M reach the Main Sequence as a wholly convective stars. Population III stars with masses greater than 0.5M show a brightening of at most 2.2 in bolometric magnitude when the evolution is terminated as compared to the value which corresponds to zero-age Main Sequence. The positions of stars with masses smaller than 0.5M remain almost the same in the H-R diagram. If Population III stars have formed over a range of redshifts, 6相似文献

Chromospheric flares are the footpoints of closed coronal field lines. In this paper we present different flare morphologies from observations and examine the implied coronal field configurations above the flaring region. Flares are grouped according to the number of ribbons, from unresolved compact point-like flare to four-ribbon flares. Quiet region flares having characteristics all their own are also presented here.We find that compact, unresolved point-like flares have two distinct footpoints when viewed in offband H. The footpoints of some of the compact flares also show increased separation as a function of time.Unlike large two-ribbon flares, the ribbons of many small and/or short-lived two-ribbon flares usually have no measurable separation of ribbons.Multiple-ribbon (three or more ribbon) flares consist of two or more pairs of two-ribbons, or two or more sets of field lines. Parity of the ribbons in multiple-ribbon flares, or the lack of it, depends on the magnetic makeup of the locale of the ribbons.Flares in old quiet regions resulting from sudden filament eruptions show discrete small patches of emissions reflecting the spottiness of decayed and dispersed field of quiet region.  相似文献

It is suggested that the minimum mass of a star at the time of its formation is approximately 0.01M . Making use of this fact and the stellar mass functionF(M) M , it is found that the hidden mass (or the missing mass) in the solar neighborhood may be explained by the presence of a large number of invisible stars of very low mass (0.01M M<0.07M ).  相似文献

The stars in the Main Sequence are seen as a hierarchy of objects with different massesM and effective dynamical radiiR eff=R/ given by the stellar radii and the coefficients for the inner structure of the stars. As seen in a previous work (Paper I), during the lifetime in the Main SequenceR eff(t) remains a near invariant when compared to the variation in the time ofR(t) and (t).With such an effectiveR eff one obtains the amounts of actionA c(M), the effective densities eff(M)=(M)3(M), the densities of action and of energy (or mean presures in the stellar interior)a c(M),e c(M), and the potential energiesE p(M).The amounts of action areA cM k withk1.87 for the M stars,k5/3 for the KGF stars, andk1.83 for the A and earlier stars, representing very simples conditions for the other dynamical parameters. For instancek5/3 means a near invariant effective density eff for the KGF stars, while for such stars the mean densities and coefficients present the strongest variations with masses (M)M –1.81, (M)M0.6.The cases for the M stars (e c(M)M –1) and for the A and earlier stars (betweena c(M)=constant and eff(M)M –1) and also discussed. These conditions for the earlier stars also represent reasonable mean values for the whole stellar hierarchy in the range of masses 0.2M M25M .With all this, one can build dynamical HR diagrams withA c(M), Ep(M), eff M p , etc., whose characteristics are analogous to these in the photometrical HR diagram. A comparison is made betweenA c(M) from the models here and the HR diagram with the best known stars of luminosity classes IV, V, and white dwarfs. The comparison of the potential energiesE p(M)M –p according to the stellar models used here and the observed frequency function (MM –q (number of stars in a given interval of masses) from different authors suggests the possibility that the productE p(M)(M) is a constant, but this must be confirmed with further studies of the function (M) and its fine structure. There are analogies between the formulation used here for the stellar hierarchy and other physical processes, for instance, in modified forms of the Kolmogorov law of turbulence and in the formulation used for the hierarchy of molecular clouds in gravitational equilibrium. Besides, the function of actionA c(M) for the stars has analogous properties to the relations of angular momenta and massesJ(M) for different types of objects. The cosmological implications of all this are discussed.  相似文献
