The relationship between the characteristics of seismic waves in the Western Caucasus and the geological-tectonic structure of the region is studied for identifying the specificity of seismic propagation in the mountainous regions with a complicated geological structure and forecasting the characteristics of the propagation from the geological and tectonic data. The interpretation is presented for the estimates of the Q-factor of the medium (Q(f) ~ 55f0.9 in the region of Sochi and Q(f) ~ 90f0.7 in the region of Anapa), seismic wave enhancement in the upper crustal layers (A(f) ~ 1), and peak ground acceleration residuals, which were previously determined from the records of the local earthquakes and show the distributions of local variations in the parameters of seismic wave radiation and propagation. The obtained characteristics are interpreted in the context of the up-to-date information about the tectonic, geological, and deep structure of the epicentral zones in the Western Caucasus and neighboring territory of the Black Sea. The discrepancies revealed in the low-frequency behavior of the Q-factor in the vicinities of Sochi and Anapa is accounted for by the spatial scale and character of tectonic dislocations of the rocks in these regions. The local variations in the parameters of seismic radiation and propagation are probably related to the geological features of the region such as the fault structures, including the thrusts, shatter zones, oblique seismic boundaries, variations in the thickness and consolidation of the sedimentary cover, as well as the peculiarities in the structure and material composition of the basement.  相似文献

These parameters are useful on earthquake prediction and seismic hazard analysis.Although the computation methods of source parameters are simple in principle and the many research works have been done, it is not easy to obtain the parameters accurately. There are two factors affecting the stability of computation results. The first one is the effect of spread path and site respond on signal. According to the research results, there are different geometrical spreading coefficients on different epicenter distance. The better method is to introduce trilinear geometrical spreading model (Atkinson, Mereu, 1992; Atkinson, Boore, 1995; WONG, et al, 2002). In addition, traditional site respond is estimated by comparing with rock station, such as linear inversion method (Andrews, 1982), but the comparative estimation will introduce some errors when selecting different stations. Some recent research results show that site respond is not flat for rock station (Moya, et al, 2000; ZHANG,. et al, 2001; JIN, et al, 2000; Dutta, et al, 2001). The second factor is to obtain low-frequency level and corner frequency fromdisplacement spectrum. Because the source spectrum model is nonlinear function,these values are obtained by eye. The subjectivity is strong. The small change of corner frequency will affect significantly the result of stress drop.  相似文献

Feasibility of recovering the magma chamber’s parameters by 3D Bayesian statistical inversion of magnetotelluric data is estimated for the simplified conductivity model of the Vesuvios volcano. The results indicate that in the lack of prior information and data, the most efficient approach may consist in successive estimation of the geometry and the depth of the anomaly followed by estimation of the electric conductivity distribution in it. The horizontal boundaries of the target could be outlined by the high gradients of the impedance determinant phase pseudosections determined by the upward analytical continuation of the anomalous electromagnetic fields from the relief surface to the artificial reference plane located above the summit of the volcano. The vertical boundaries and the target extension as well as the electric conductivity could be estimated successively by means of 3D Bayesian statistical inversion of the collected magnetotelluric data carried out in the domain delimited by the estimated horizontal boundaries.  相似文献

The paper proposes the calibration theory and methods for the Shanghai seismic array and analyzes the calibration results. As a result, the calibration results for the seismic array based on 2 typical earthquakes have been drawn; the difference of calibration results between Hokkaido and Honshu region in Japan is investigated. And calibration results of different directions, different epicenter distances and different magnitudes are probed into. The partitioning of zirconium between FeTiO3 and Fe2TiO4, in the presence of ZrO2 + Fe, was determined experimentally in the Fe-Ti-Zr-O system. The ratio of Zril/Zrusp is strongly temperature dependent. The zirconium concentrations of coexisting ilmenite and ulvöspinel were measured in several Apollo 14 and 15 rocks. These minerals in Apollo 15 rocks contain up to 0.42 and 0.23 wt% Zr, respectively, which are the highest zirconium contents yet reported for these minerals. Although the absolute zirconium concentrations in these phases vary within a given rock, the partitioning ratio is relatively constant. These ratios show that whereas some rocks have ‘quenched in’ the initial zirconium contents of the oxides, other rocks have reequilibrated to subsolidus temperatures as low as 850°C. The zirconium partitioning between coexisting ilmenite and ulvöspinel appears to be a sensitive indicator of differences in cooling histories of lunar rocks.  相似文献

Retrieving the parameters of a seismic source from seismograms involves deconvolving the response of the medium from seismic records. Thus, in general, source parameters are determined from both seismograms and the Green functions describing the properties of the medium in which the earthquake focus is buried. The quality of each of these two datasets is equally significant for the successful determination of source characteristics. As a rule, both sets are subject to contamination by effects that decrease the resolution of the source parameters. Seismic records are generally contaminated by noise that appears as a spurious signal unrelated to the source. Since an improper model of the medium is quite often employed, due to poor knowledge of the seismic velocity of the area under study, and since the hypocentre may be mislocated, the Green functions are not without fault. Thus, structures not modelled by Green functions are assigned to the source, distorting the source mechanism. To demonstrate these effects, we performed a synthetic case study by simulating seismic observations in the Dobrá Voda area of the Little Carpathians region of Slovakia. Simplified 1-D and 3-D laterally inhomogeneous structural models were constructed, and synthetic data were calculated using the 3-D model. Both models were employed during a moment tensor inversion. The synthetic data were contaminated by random noise up to 10 and 20 % of the maximum signal amplitude. We compared the influence of these two effects on retrieving moment tensors, and determined that a poor structural model can be compensated for by high-quality data; and that, in a similar manner, a lack of data can be compensated for by a detailed model of the medium. For examples, five local events from the Dobrá Voda area were processed.  相似文献
