A brief analysis of a sample of stars from the Second Byurakan Spectroscopic Survey is given. It contains 626 objects in the range of apparent magnitudes 10.1 ≤ m(pg) ≤ 19.5 and consists mainly of white dwarfs and subdwarfs of early spectral types. Most of the objects have been classified for the first time. Their distributions with respect to stellar magnitude and spectral type are given. The results of the spectra/classification of 310 stars and objects having a continuous spectrum, selected in the course of the Second Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey, are given. Slit spectra were used in the work, which were obtained from 1978 to 1994, mainly on the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory, Russian Academy of Sciences; some of the spectra were obtained on the 2.6-m telescope of the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, and the 4.5-m Multiple-Mirror Telescope (USA), with 5–15 Å resolution. The sample contains objects in the range of stellar magnitudes 11.0 ≤ m(pg) ≤ 19.5. We found 93 DA, 2 DO, 12 DB, and 1 DC white dwarfs, 83 sdB and 20 sdO subdwarfs, 34 NHB variables, 2 cataclysmic variables, 48 stars of late spectral types, 8 spectroscopic binary systems, and 7 objects having a continuous spectrum. The results of spectroscopic observations of 30 galaxies from the Second Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey in a field of 16 square degrees centered at coordinates a = 15h30m, δ = + 53°are presented. The spectra were obtained on the 6-m telescope of the Special Astrophysical Observatory, Russian Academy of Sciences, in the wavelength range of 4000–7400 Å with 15 Å resolution. Emission lines are present in the spectra of most of the galaxies. Redshifts and absolute stellar magnitudes were determined for all the galaxies.  相似文献

A database for the entire catalog of the Second Byurakan Survey (SBS) galaxies is presented. It contains new measurements of their optical parameters and additional information taken from the literature and other databases. The measurements were made using Ipg (near-infrared), Fpg (red), and Jpg (blue) band images from photographic sky survey plates obtained by the Palomar Schmidt telescope and extracted from the STScI Digital Sky Survey (DSS). The database provides accurate coordinates, morphological type, spectral and activity classes, apparent magnitudes and diameters, axial ratios and position angles, as well as number counts of neighboring objects in a circle of radius 50 kpc. The total number of individual SBS objects in the database is now 1676. The 188 Markarian galaxies that were re-discovered by SBS are not included in this database. We also include redshifts that are now available for 1576 SBS objects, as well as 2MASS infrared magnitudes for 1117 SBS galaxies.  相似文献

We have made near infrared spectroscopic observations of 10 symbiotic and 27 K-M comparison stars. For stars later than M3, we found the band depth of the triple-headed TiO absorption band to be sensitive to temperature and insensitive to gravity. We fitted the spectral type to the band depth with a standard error of 0.22 of a subtype and derived the spectral types for 6 symbiotic stars. We measured the EW of a large number of lines including the CaII lines (very sensitive to luminosity), the FeI and TiO lines (moderately sensitive) and the NaI lines (not sensitive). The EW of these lines vary with the spectral type, particularly for stars later than M3, both spectral type and luminosity effects must be considered. We give the luminosity classes for 10 of the brighter symbiotic stars, they are all giant stars, showing no features of bright giants or supergiants.  相似文献

In this work, we select spectra of stars with high signal-to-noise ratio from LAMOST data and map their MK classes to the spectral features. The equivalent widths of prominent spectral lines, which play a similar role as multi-color photometry, form a clean stellar locus well ordered by MK classes. The advantage of the stellar locus in line indices is that it gives a natural and continuous classification of stars consistent with either broadly used MK classes or stellar astrophysical parameters. We also employ an SVM-based classification algorithm to assign MK classes to LAMOST stellar spectra. We find that the completenesses of the classifications are up to 90% for A and G type stars, but they are down to about 50% for OB and K type stars. About 40% of the OB and K type stars are mis-classified as A and G type stars,respectively. This is likely due to the difference in the spectral features between late B type and early A type stars or between late G and early K type stars being very weak. The relatively poor performance of the automatic MK classification with SVM suggests that the direct use of line indices to classify stars is likely a more preferable choice.  相似文献

We compare the spectroscopic and trigonometric parallaxes of common stars from the Tycho-2 Spectral Type and Hipparcos Catalogues. This comparison has revealed that the distance estimations for the overwhelming majority of stars by both methods yield very similar results. However, there is a small fraction of stars for which the distance estimates differ significantly. It is these stars that are the subject of our study. We have been able to find the causes of these differences.  相似文献

The results of investigations of new faint M and C type stars discovered on the plates of the First Byurakan Spectral Sky Survey are reported. Among 161 newly discovered stars, 98 are identified with unknown IRAS point sources. It is probable that the majority of new M stars are Mirids according to their distributions on the IRAS color—color diagram. The aim of this paper is to get new critertia for spectral classification of some early type stars which depend on the flux in the UV region λ λ 1500–2500 by carrying out spectrophotometric analysis of observational ultraviolet data of stars obtained by the S2/68 Ultraviolet Sky Survey Telescope (UVSST) aboard the European Space Research Organization (ESRO) Satellite TD1. We have developed these new criteria based on the Intrinsic Ultraviolet Colour Index (IUI), and the Intrinsic Flux Ratio (IFR). Using these quantities we are going to represent the results of spectral classification of 323 early type stars mainly from spectral type B and A. The results of calculations of the Intrinsic Flux Ratios for the stars under investigation together with their Colour Temperatures (Tc) are given. Comparison between our suggested two new criteria with the MK classification system and Cucchairo (1980) classification system was carried out. A number of high resolution and high signal-to-noise ratio spectra of mildly metal-poor stars were obtained with the coudé echelle spectrograph attached to the 2.16m telescope at Xinglong Observation Base of Beijing Astronomical Observatory. The spectra of seven mildly metal-poor stars were processed with the MIDAS software package, and the equivalent widths of their spectral lines were measured. The measured equivalent widths together with an error analysis are presented.  相似文献
