Five days of coordinated observation were carried out from 24–29 September, 1987 at Big Bear and Huairou Solar Observatories. Longitudinal magnetic fields of an p sunspot active region were observed almost continuously by the two observatories. In addition, vector magnetic fields, photospheric and chromospheric Doppler velocity fields of the active region were also observed at Huairou Solar Observatory. We studied the evolution of magnetic fields and mass motions of the active region and obtained the following results: (1) There are two kinds of Moving Magnetic Features (MMFs). (a) MMFs with the same magnetic polarity as the center sunspot. These MMFs carry net flux from the spot, move through the moat, and accumulate at the moat's outer boundary. (b) MMFs in pairs of mixed polarity. These MMFs are not responsible for the decay of the spot since they do not carry away the net flux. MMFs in category (b) move faster than those of (a). (2) The speed of the mixed polarity MMFs is larger than the outflow measured by photospheric Dopplergrams. The uni-polar MMFs are moving at about the same speed as the Doppler outflow. (3) The chromospheric velocity is in approximately the opposite direction from the photospheric velocity. The photospheric Doppler flow is outward; chromospheric flow is inward. We also found evidence that downward flow appears in the photospheric umbra; in the chromosphere there is an upflow.  相似文献

Several series of coordinated observations on decaying active regions and enhanced magnetic network regions have been carried out jointly at Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) and Huairou Solar Observing Station of the Bejing Astronomical Observatory in China. The evolution of magnetic fields in several regions was followed closely for 3 to 7 days. The transport of magnetic flux from the remnants of decayed active regions was studied. Three related topics are included in this paper. (1) We studied the evolution and lifetime of the magnetic network which defines the boundaries of supergranules. The results are consistent with our earlier studies: network cells have an average lifetime of about 70 hours; 68% of new cells appeared by growing from a single network magnetic element; 50% of decaying cells disappeared by contracting to a network element. (2) We studied the magnetic flux transport in an enhanced network region in detail, and found the diffusion rate to be negative, i.e., there was more flux moving towards the decayed active region than away from it. We found several other cases where the magnetic diffusion rate does not agree with Leighton's model. The slow diffusion rate is likely due to the fact that the average velocity of larger magnetic elements, which carry most of the magnetic flux, is less than 0.1 km s–1; their average lifetime is longer than 100 hours. (3) We briefly described some properties of Moving Magnetic Features (MMFs) around a sunspot (detailed discussion on MMFs will be presented in a separate paper). In this particular case, the MMFs did not carry net flux away from the central spot. Instead, the polarities of MMFs were essentially mixed so that outflowing positive and negative fluxes were roughly balanced. During the 3-day period, there was almost no net flux accumulation to form a moat. The cancellation of MMFs of opposite polarities at the boundary of the super-penumbra caused quite a few surges and H brightenings.  相似文献

EUV and Magnetic Activities Associated with Type-I Solar Radio Bursts   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Type-I bursts (i.e. noise storms) are the earliest-known type of solar radio emission at the meter wavelength. They are believed to be excited by non-thermal energetic electrons accelerated in the corona. The underlying dynamic process and exact emission mechanism still remain unresolved. Here, with a combined analysis of extreme ultraviolet (EUV), radio and photospheric magnetic field data of unprecedented quality recorded during a type-I storm on 30 July 2011, we identify a good correlation between the radio bursts and the co-spatial EUV and magnetic activities. The EUV activities manifest themselves as three major brightening stripes above a region adjacent to a compact sunspot, while the magnetic field there presents multiple moving magnetic features (MMFs) with persistent coalescence or cancelation and a morphologically similar three-part distribution. We find that the type-I intensities are correlated with those of the EUV emissions at various wavelengths with a correlation coefficient of 0.7?–?0.8. In addition, in the region between the brightening EUV stripes and the radio sources there appear consistent dynamic motions with a series of bi-directional flows, suggesting ongoing small-scale reconnection there. Mainly based on the induced connection between the magnetic motion at the photosphere and the EUV and radio activities in the corona, we suggest that the observed type-I noise storms and the EUV brightening activities are the consequence of small-scale magnetic reconnection driven by MMFs. This is in support of the original proposal made by Bentley et al. (Solar Phys. 193, 227, 2000).  相似文献

Based on a sample of RR Lyrae variable stars including more than 9000 objects with proper motions and distances, we have investigated the kinematics of the Galactic halo from the two-dimensional velocity field. We have used both the proper motions deduced independently by us from the positional data taken from all-sky catalogues in a time interval up to 65 years and the proper motions taken from the Gaia DR2 catalogue. In addition, we have also studied the halo kinematics from the three-dimensional velocity field of ~850 RR Lyrae variables with distances, proper motions, and line-of-sight velocities. The kinematic parameters describing the velocity field have been estimated by the maximum-likelihood method; their change with Galactocentric distance has been investigated. The radial velocity dispersion in spherical coordinates σr ≈ 160?170 km s?1 exceeds its values from previous papers approximately by 20 km s?1, while the anisotropy parameter β ≈ 0.68?0.72 agrees satisfactorily with previous studies. When estimating the rotation velocity of the population of RR Lyrae stars, we identified the inner and outer halos with weak prograde and retrograde rotations, respectively.  相似文献

Photoelectric measurements of Doppler shifts of various Fraunhofer lines obtained with the Capri magnetograph were analysed. The height dependence of the supergranular and oscillatory motions, as well as the two dimensional structure of these velocity fields is investigated. The most interesting results are the following:
  1. The oscillatory and supergranular motions are still clearly present in very deep photospheric layers as detected e.g. by means of the Ci line at 5380.3 Å.
  2. Whereas the vertical motions (both of oscillation and supergranulation) increase with height, the horizontal component of the supergranular flow is found to be decreasing slightly.
  3. Aperiodic horizontal motions are observed in the photospheric layers, which are probably connected with the process of excitation of the oscillatory field.
  4. There is no simple way of describing the oscillatory field in terms of independently oscillating ‘cells’, since the two-dimensional pattern changes its appearance drastically already in a fraction of one oscillation period.
  5. The correlation obtained by previous observers between vertical stationary motions, the chromospheric network and magnetic fields in particular is confirmed.

We compare horizontal velocities, vertical magnetic fields, and the evolution of trees of fragmenting granules (TFG, also named families of granules) derived in the quiet Sun at disk center from observations at solar minimum and maximum of the Solar Optical Telescope (SOT on board Hinode) and results of a recent 3D numerical simulation of the magneto-convection. We used 24-hour sequences of a 2D field of view (FOV) with high spatial and temporal resolution recorded by the SOT Broad band Filter Imager (BFI) and Narrow band Filter Imager (NFI). TFG were evidenced by segmentation and labeling of continuum intensities. Horizontal velocities were obtained from local correlation tracking (LCT) of proper motions of granules. Stokes V provided a proxy of the line-of-sight magnetic field (BLOS). The MHD simulation (performed independently) produced granulation intensities, velocity, and magnetic field vectors. We discovered that TFG also form in the simulation and show that it is able to reproduce the main properties of solar TFG: lifetime and size, associated horizontal motions, corks, and diffusive index are close to observations. The largest (but not numerous) families are related in both cases to the strongest flows and could play a major role in supergranule and magnetic network formation. We found that observations do not reveal any significant variation in TFG between solar minimum and maximum.  相似文献

We present some results of a magnetic flux-tube soliton propagating along a current loop surrounded by a weakly ionized plasma, by using a 3-D Neutral-MHD simulation code. When the velocity of mass flows outside the current loop exceeds about 0.6A, the magnetic pulse behaves as an isolated string wave which is called a curved soliton, propagating with a velocity less than that one of exterior mass flow. The propagation speed of the magnetic flux-tube soliton is studied by changing the intensity of the electric current along the flux tube, which usually cannot be observed directly. It is found that the soliton speed decreases proportionally to the increment of the electric current, and the speed is independent of the direction of the electric current. We can estimate the current intensity inside a magnetic flux-tube soliton by observations of the soliton speed and the external plasma flow velocity. These results should be compared with recent high-resolution observations of moving magnetic features (MMFs) observed near sunspots.  相似文献

We study the velocity fields in the region of quiet solar filaments using spectral observations at the Sayan Solar Observatory (ISTP, Irkutsk). Once the series of spectral images have been processed, maps of the two-dimensional distribution of the velocity and its variations in the chromosphere (in the Hβ λ = 486.13 nm line) and the photosphere (in the Fe I λ = 486.37 nm line) are constructed. The motions in the filaments have been found to consist of steady and periodic components. Our analysis of the spatial distributions of various oscillation modes shows that the short-period (<10 min) oscillations propagate mainly vertically and are observed at the filament edges, on scales of several arcseconds. The quasi-hour (>40 min) oscillations propagate mostly along the filament at a small angle to its axis. The intensity in the Hβ core in individual fragments of some filaments varies with a period of about one hour. The observed velocity structures in the filaments and the imbalance of steady motions on the opposite sides of the filaments can be explained in terms of the model of a twisted fine-structure magnetic flux tube.  相似文献

A time sequence of high-resolution SOHO/MDI magnetograms, Dopplergrams, and continuum images is used to study the moving magnetic features (MMFs) in and out of penumbral filaments. Precursors of MMFs have been observed inside the penumbral filaments. One hundred and fifteen out of 127 well-observed individual MMFs in the moat of two sunspots have been identified to have precursors at an average distance of 4″ inside the penumbral filaments. The velocity of these precursors is small inside the penumbral filaments and becomes large once the MMFs cross the outer penumbra. The paths followed by the MMFs exhibit large fluctuations in their magnetic field strength values, with an additional hike in the fluctuations near the outer penumbra. It is also observed that the path followed by the MMFs appear as a cluster of fibrils which could be traced back inside the penumbra. The appearance of MMFs and their azimuthal velocity is position and time dependent. Electronic Supplementary Material Electronic Supplementary Material is available for this article at  相似文献

Results of the analysis of spectral observations of two Ellerman bombs in the Hα line are presented. These bombs (EB-1 and EB-2) appeared and evolved in the active region NOAA 11024 in the emerging magnetic flux area. The spectral data of a high temporal and spatial resolution were obtained with the French–Italian solar telescope THEMIS (Tenerife Island, Spain; THEMIS stands for Télescope Héliographique pour l’Etude du Magnétisme et des Instabilités Solaires) on July 4, 2009. The Hα-line profiles obtained for different periods of the Ellerman bombs (EBs) evolution were asymmetrical, demonstrating the emission excess in the long-wavelength wing. The intensity variations in the line wings indicate both the gradual and pulsed release of energy in the course of EBs. Temporal variations in the line-of-sight velocities V los of the chromospheric material at a level of the Hα-core formation showed two periods in the velocity enhancement, containing several individual peaks. The maximum line-of-sight velocity of the material was–9 and 8 km/s toward and from the observer, respectively. Rapid upward and downward plasma streams (where V los reaches–80 and 50 km/s, respectively) were sometimes observed. The Ellerman bombs were accompanied by small chromospheric ejections (surges) lasting for 0.5–1.5 min. A fine structure of EBs was found in the Hα-line spectra obtained during 4 min, when the intensity in the line wings sharply increased. The peculiarities of variations in the intensity of the Hα-line wings and the line-of-sight velocity of the chromospheric material suggest that two investigated EBs appeared and evolved as a physically connected pair. Our results support the model wherein the magnetic reconnection in the lower atmospheric layers is considered as a triggering mechanism for the EB formation.  相似文献

We analyze the space velocities of blue supergiants, long-period Cepheids, and young open star clusters (OSCs), as well as the H I and H II radial-velocity fields by the maximum-likelihood method. The distance scales of the objects are matched both by comparing the first derivatives of the angular velocity Ω′ determined separately from radial velocities and proper motions and by the statistical-parallax method. The former method yields a short distance scale (for R0=7.5 kpc, the assumed distances should be increased by 4%), whereas the latter method yields a long distance scale (for R0=8.5 kpc, the assumed distances should be increased by 16%). We cannot choose between these two methods. Similarly, the distance scale of blue supergiants should be shortened by 9% and lengthened by 3%, respectively. The H II distance scale is matched with the distance scale of Cepheids and OSCs by comparing the derivatives Ω′ determined for H II from radial velocities and for Cepheids and OSCs from space velocities. As a result, the distances to H II regions should be increased by 5% in the short distance scale. We constructed the Galactic rotation curve in the Galactocentric distance range 2–14 kpc from the radial velocities of all objects with allowance for the difference between the residual-velocity distributions. The axial ratio of the Cepheid+OSC velocity ellipsoid is well described by the Lindblad relation, while σu≈σv for gas. The following rotation-curve parameters were obtained: Ω0=(27.5±1.4) km s?1 kpc?1 and A=(17.1±0.5) km s?1 kpc?1 for the short distance scale (R0=7.5 kpc); and Ω0=(26.6±1.4) km s?1 kpc?1 and A=(15.4±0.5) km s?1 kpc?1 for the long distance scale (R0=8.5 kpc). We propose a new method for determining the angular velocity Ω0 from stellar radial velocities alone by using the Lindblad relation. Good agreement between the inferred Ω0 and our calculations based on space velocities suggests that the Lindblad relation holds throughout the entire sample volume. Our analysis of the heliocentric velocities for samples of young objects reveals noticeable streaming motions (with a velocity lag of ~7 km s?1 relative to the LSR), whereas a direct computation of the perturbation amplitudes in terms of the linear density-wave theory yields a small amplitude for the tangential perturbations.  相似文献

The catalogue of protoplanetary nebulae by Vickers et al. has been supplemented with the line-of-sight velocities and proper motions of their central stars from the literature. Based on an exponential density distribution, we have estimated the vertical scale height from objects with an age less than 3 Gyr belonging to the Galactic thin disk (luminosities higher than 5000 L ) to be h = 146 ± 15 pc, while from a sample of older objects (luminosities lower than 5000 L ) it is h = 568 ± 42 pc. We have produced a list of 147 nebulae in which there are only the line-of-sight velocities for 55 nebulae, only the proper motions for 25 nebulae, and both line-of-sight velocities and proper motions for 67 nebulae. Based on this kinematic sample, we have estimated the Galactic rotation parameters and the residual velocity dispersions of protoplanetary nebulae as a function of their age. We have established that there is a good correlation between the kinematic properties of nebulae and their separation in luminosity proposed by Vickers. Most of the nebulae are shown to be involved in the Galactic rotation, with the circular rotation velocity at the solar distance being V 0 = 227 ± 23 km s?1. The following principal semiaxes of the residual velocity dispersion ellipsoid have been found: (σ1, σ2, σ3) = (47, 41, 29) km s?1 from a sample of young protoplanetary nebulae (with luminosities higher than 5000 L ), (σ1, σ2, σ3) = (50, 38, 28) km s?1 from a sample of older protoplanetary nebulae (with luminosities of 4000 L or 3500 L ), and (σ1, σ2, σ3) = (91, 49, 36) km s?1 from a sample of halo nebulae (with luminosities of 1700 L ).  相似文献

We have studied the simultaneous and separate solutions of the basic kinematic equations obtained using the stellar velocities calculated on the basis of data from the Gaia TGAS and RAVE5 catalogues. By comparing the values of Ω'0 found by separately analyzing only the line-of-sight velocities of stars and only their proper motions, we have determined the distance scale correction factor p to be close to unity, 0.97 ± 0.04. Based on the proper motions of stars from the Gaia TGAS catalogue with relative trigonometric parallax errors less than 10% (they are at a mean distance of 226 pc), we have found the components of the group velocity vector for the sample stars relative to the Sun (U, V,W) = (9.28, 20.35, 7.36) ± (0.05, 0.07, 0.05) km s?1, the angular velocity of Galactic rotation Ω0 = 27.24 ± 0.30 km s?1 kpc?1, and its first derivative Ω'0 = ?3.77 ± 0.06 km s?1 kpc?2; here, the circular rotation velocity of the Sun around the Galactic center is V0 = 218 ± 6 km s?1 kpc (for the adopted distance R0 = 8.0 ± 0.2 kpc), while the Oort constants are A = 15.07 ± 0.25 km s?1 kpc?1 and B = ?12.17 ± 0.39 km s?1 kpc?1, p = 0.98 ± 0.08. The kinematics of Gaia TGAS stars with parallax errors more than 10% has been studied by invoking the distances from a paper by Astraatmadja and Bailer-Jones that were corrected for the Lutz–Kelker bias. We show that the second derivative of the angular velocity of Galactic rotation Ω'0 = 0.864 ± 0.021 km s?1 kpc?3 is well determined from stars at a mean distance of 537 pc. On the whole, we have found that the distances of stars from the Gaia TGAS catalogue calculated using their trigonometric parallaxes do not require any additional correction factor.  相似文献

We studied the size, correlation lifetime and horizontal velocity amplitude of supergranules in regions with different magnetic activity. We found that the supergranule velocity cells have similar scale, correlation lifetime and horizontal velocity amplitude in the unipolar enhanced magnetic network regions and in the mixed-polarity quiet Sun. However, the correlation lifetime of magnetic structure is much longer in the enhanced network. We investigated the velocity pattern of moving magnetic features (MMF) surrounding a decaying sunspot. The velocity of MMFs is consistent with the outflow surrounding the sunspot as measured by Dopplergrams. The velocity cell surrounding the sunspot has a much larger velocity amplitude and a longer lifetime than regular supergranule cells. We found that ephemeral regions (ER) have a slight tendency to emerge at or near boundaries of supergranules. Almost all the magnetic flux disappears at the supergranule boundaries. In most cases, two poles of cancelling features with opposite magnetic polarities approach along the boundaries of supergranules.  相似文献

New measurements of the velocities of moving magnetic features (MMFs) are made from spectroheliograms and filtergrams. The sample includes 200 MMFs found in the moats surrounding 7 different sunspots. Our data are compiled with the data from other authors to uncover common properties of moats. The moat radius is roughly twice the penumbral radius. No significant correlation between the average moat velocity or angular extent and any noted property of the spot or moat (size, age, stage of development) is found. Individual MMFs move radially outward with a constant speed, but nearby MMFs may have quite different speeds. The average moat speed is twice the supergranule flow speed. The speed of MMFs in moats is equal on average to the surface gas flow speed. A large bias is found in much of the existing observations of moat speeds from MMFs.  相似文献

In the course of presentation of several new analytic solutions, the dynamics of slowly rotating magnetoviscous-fluid distribution is investigated. The nature and role of the rotational velocity (r, t) which is related to the local dragging of inertial frames and that of matter rotation (r, t) are studied for uniform and non-uniform motions. It is observed that the magnetic field decays the rotational motion and this damping effect is found to be roughly analogous to viscosity. Rotating models which are expanding as well are obtained, which may be taken as good examples of real astrophysical situations; and their geometrical and physical properties are discussed in detail.  相似文献

We determined the locations of Galactic spiral arm segments for various age groups from the available data on the positions, ages, radial velocities, and proper motions of 440 δ Cephei variables using a previously developed technique. We obtained such parameters of the Galactic spiral structure as the arm pitch angle, , and the pattern speed, ΩP = 21.7 ± 2.8 km s?1 kpc?1, which are comparable to and ΩP = 20.4 ± 2.5 km s?1 kpc?1, respectively, determined previously from open star clusters. Based on the radial velocities and proper motions of the sample stars, we derived the rotation curve of the Galaxy for the range of Galactocentric distances approximately from 6 to 15 kpc. Using the pattern speed, we determined the positions of the corotation region and the inner and outer Lindblad resonances. We estimated the perturbation amplitudes of the Galactic velocity field, f R = ?1.8 ± 2.5 km s?1 and f ? = +4.0 ± 3.4 km s?1.  相似文献

The evolution of vector photospheric magnetic fields has been studied in concert with photospheric spot motions for a flare-productive active region. Over a three-day period (5–7 April, 1980), sheared photospheric velocity fields inferred from spot motions are compared both with changes in the orientation of transverse magnetic fields and with the flare history of the region. Rapid spot motions and high inferred velocity shear coincide with increased field alignment along the B L= 0 line and with increased flare activity; a later decrease in velocity shear precedes a more relaxed magnetic configuration and decrease in flare activity. Crude energy estimates show that magnetic reconfiguration produced by the relative velocities of the spots could cause storage of 1032 erg day–1, while the flares occurring during this time expended 1031 erg day–1.Maps of vertical current density suggest that parallel (as contrasted with antiparallel) currents flow along the stressed magnetic loops. For the active region, a constant-, force-free magnetic field (J = B) at the photosphere is ruled out by the observations.Presently located at NASA/MSFC, Huntsville, Ala. 35812, U.S.A.  相似文献

Radial velocities for 15 stars with high proper motions were measured as a result of spectral observations, conducted with the NES echelle spectrograph of the 6-m BTA telescope in the wavelength range of 3550–5100 Å with a spectral resolution of R=60000. The standard deviation of the measured velocity does not exceed σ ≤ 0.9 km/s for the stars with metallicity [Fe/H]? ?1, and σ ≤ 1.1 km/s for [Fe/H]? ?1. The heliocentric velocities measured with high accuracy in combination with trigonometrical parallaxes and proper motions from the HIPPARCOS catalog allowed us to determine the distances and parameters of the galactic orbits of the stars under study. In general they are located within 100 pc; the binarity of several program stars is confirmed.  相似文献

Based on our high-spectral-resolution observations performed with the NES echelle spectrograph of the 6-m telescope, we have studied the peculiarities of the spectrum and the velocity field in the atmosphere and envelope of the cool supergiant V1027 Cyg, the optical counterpart of the infrared source IRAS 20004+2955. A splitting of the cores of strong absorptions of metals and their ions (Si II, Ni I, Ti I, Ti II, Sc II, Cr I, Fe I, Fe II, BaII) has been detected in the stellar spectrum for the first time. The broad profile of these lines contains a stable weak emission in the core whose position may be considered as the systematic velocity V sys = 5.5 km s?1. Small radial velocity variations with an amplitude of 5–6 km s?1 due to pulsations have been revealed by symmetric low- and moderate-intensity absorptions. A long-wavelength shift of the Hα profile due to line core distortion is observed in the stellar spectrum. Numerous weak CN molecular lines and the KI 7696 Å line with a P Cyg profile have been identified in the red spectral region. The coincidence of the radial velocities measured from symmetric metal absorptions and CN lines suggests that the CN spectrum is formed in the stellar atmosphere. We have identified numerous diffuse interstellar bands (DIBs) whose positions in the spectrum, V r (DIBs) = ?12.0 km s?1, correspond to the velocity of the interstellar medium in the Local Arm of the Galaxy.  相似文献
