Differential photoelectric photometry inV, B, andU has been obtained for the eclipsing binary MM Her, a member of the RS Canum Venaticorum class. The light outside eclipse was Fourier-analyzed to study the wave. The migration and amplitude of the wave and the mean light level of the system now have been monitored from 1976 through 1980. The phase of wave minimum has decreased from 0 . P 80 to 0 . P 25, the wave amplitude has varied between 0 . m 06 and 0 . m 12, and the mean light level has fluctuated between 0.94 and 0.99. Observations within eclipse revealed that the eclipses are partial, not total as previously thought, and a new time of mid-eclipse was found to be JD (hel.)=2444 500.6665±0 . d 0008. The Russell model was used to solve the 1980 light curve. Elements of the rectified light curve werei=86 . ° 35±0 . ° 09,r h =0.070±0.002,r c =0.125±0.001,L h (V)=0.585±0.008 andL h (B)=0.683±0.010. The geometric elements were forced on the pre-1980 light curves and found to be compatible. With these elements and previously obtained double-lined radial velocity curves, new absolute dimensions have been calculated: 1.18M and 1.58R for the hotter star and 1.27M and 2.83R for the cooler star. Differential photometry of the KI IV-III RS CVn-type binary HR 7275 in 1978, 1979, and 1980 at nine different observatories shows it definitely to be variable, thus confirming the suspicion of Herbst. The photometric period determined two ways was 27 . d 91 or 27 . d 65, thus about 3% shorter than the spectroscopically determined orbital period of 28 . d 59. The total variation observed during the three years was 0 . m 22 in theV. The results of photoelectricUBV observations of asteroid 77 Frigga during the 1982 opposition are presented. From eight nights of observations at phase angles smaller than 2 o . 8 a synodic period of 0 d . 3755±0 d . 0006 is derived. The light curve appears very symmetric with two maxima per period and an amplitude of 0 m . 19. The primary maximum corresponds toV(0o)=8 m . 58, and the colour indices are:B–V = 0 . m 738 ± 0 . m 003 andU–B = 0 . m 200 ± 0 . m 002.  相似文献

In this paper, we present VRc photometric observations of four dwarf cepheids: YZ Boo (P = 0 . d 104, V = 0 . m 5), AD CMi (P = 0 . d 123, V = 0 . m 5), XX Cyg (P = 0 . d 135, V = 0 . m 5), EH Lib (P = 0 . d 088, V = 0 . m 7). The light curves were obtained at West Mountain Observatory, Provo, Utah on 14 nights from 1983 through 1986 and contain 589 data points in each of theV andR bands in the Cousin photometric system. Differential BV photometry of the K0III+K0III long-period RS CVn-type binary DK Dra=HR 4665 in 1977, 1978, 1979, and 1980 at eight different observatories is presented. A least squares fit to times of maximum and minimum light yields the ephemeris JD=2 443 219.5+63 . d 75E for times of minimum. This photometric period is 1% shorter than the spectroscopically determined orbital period 64 . d 44. The light curve was symmetrical and roughly sinusoidal in 1979 and 1980 but was asymmetrical in 1977 and 1978, with a faster rise to maximum. UBV photometry of RS CVn-type eclipsing binary system ER Vulpeculae has been presented. The period comes out to be 0 . d 698093. The average depths of primary and secondary minima are, respectively, 0 . m 21 and 0 . m 12. The colours at various phases have been given. A dip is seen around phase 0 . p 73 as was seen in the observations of Arevaloet al. (1988). Large scatter is present in the observations as noticed earlier, and may be due to activity of the components.  相似文献

Five years of photoelectric photometry of this bright K1 III RS CVn binary has been obtained at thirteen different observatories. Except for one year, the light curve has shown two minima, separated by roughly a half cycle. At the epoch of discovery (1977.2) one minimum was shallower but as of 1980.2 the two became comparable in depth. During the 1979–80 season the light curve changed shape rapidly, the shallower minimum becoming as deep as the other within about 80 days or perhaps less. Times of both minima can be fit with a photometric period of 19 d .423, which is 0.9% shorter than the 19 d .603 orbital period. A total of 321 observations of the Delta Scuti star BD –6°4932, obtained in 1968 by Hall and Mallama (1970), are analyzed. We find four frequencies which represent the light curves satisfactorily.The three periods:P 1=0 . d 240,P 3=0 . d 182 andP 4=0 . d 114 seem to correspond to the radial modes of pulsation withK=0, 1, and 3, respectively. The last periodP 2=0 . d 220 can be related to a non-radial mode.  相似文献

The RS CVn-type eclipsing binary AR Lac has been observed in two colours,B andV, in 1978 and 1979. Several times of minima have been obtained during the observations and the new light elements have been calculated. The orbital period of the system was found to be decreasing with an amount of 14.6 s century–1.The light curves of the system obtained inB andV show a significant wave-like distortion outside eclipses. The amplitudes of the wave-like distortion inB andV are about 0 . m 09 and 0 . m 10 in 1978, and, 0 . m 12 and 0 . m 13 in 1979, respectively. The minima of the wave-like distortion have shifted with an amount of 0 . p 40 in one year, thus indicating the migration period of the wave-like distortion is about 2.5 yr.A noticeable variation of light during the totality of primary minimum has also been observed. This variation can be attributed to the distortion wave which has been moving towards decreasing phases.  相似文献

We present light curve solutions for the W UMa-type eclipsing binaries EP, EQ, ER, ES, and V369 Cep in the old open cluster NGC 188. Using light curve solution parameters combined with reasonable mass estimates, we determine the distance modulusV-M vof the cluster. Our aim is to examine if current uncertainties in the cluster's distance and age can be resolved. Three binaries yield distance moduli close to 10 . m 80 (±0 . m 08), two others give values around 11 . m 40(±0 . m 09). Depending on the amount of reddening, we find a weighted mean distance modulus for all five binaries between 11 . m 01 and 11 . m 05 (±0 . m 06), which lends modest support for the lower distance (1.65 kpc) and older age (10 Gyr) of the cluster.Participants in the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at Florida International University, sponsored by the National Science Foundation.  相似文献

UBV photoelectric observations of the W UMa-type binary V471 Cas were made from September to November 1984. Its colour indices were found to be(B-V)=0 . m 771±0 . m 02 and(U-B)=0 . m 196±0 . m 02. TheU, B, andV light curves of V471 Cas show some photometric fluctuations. We found that its orbital period is not 0.335998 days which was given by GCVS (1986), but 0.405356 days.Photometric orbital elements of V471 Cas were found using the Wilson-Devinney method. V471 Cas is a contact system, in which the overcontact factor is 0.19, its mass ratio of two components is 0.5947, and orbital minclination is in 83.29 degrees.  相似文献

The light curve of the variable with a period of 75d and amplitude of the lightA B0 m .5 were obtained. It was assumed that the variable was a cepheid. The new time-resolved CCD photometry of XX Cyg was presented. We investigate the time-dependent behaviour of the light variations by reanalyzing the data in the literature. XX Cyg was demonstrated beyond any doubt again to be a monoperiodic pulsator. Its light curves can be well reproduced by the sinusoids with the fundamental frequency f 0 = 7.41481 ± 0.00001 cycle d-1(P 0 = 0d . 1348652 ± 0.0000001) and its first nine harmonics. Fourier, wavelet and O–C analyses based on all the available data reveals the amplitude and period variations during the years 1974 to 2000.The general trend of the amplitude changes is decreasing at a rate of one percent milli-magnitudes per year. The parabolic analysis on the updated 101 times of maximum light suggests a slowly continuous increasing at a rate of 1.3 × 10-3 days per million years in the period. The RS CVn-type eclipsing binary SZ Psc was observed in two coloursB andV, in 1981. The rate of change of the period was calculated using two different least-squares procedures. The amplitudes of the light variations at outside eclipses are 0 . m 181 and 0 . m 213 inB andV colours, respectively. The light curves of the system have been solved using a new approximation. The radius of the cooler component is only 82% of its Roche-radius and the system is detached one.  相似文献

A light variation in Johnson'sV-band of flare star EV Lac has been registered by Pettersen (1980). The cycle length was 4 . d 378 with amplitude about 0 . m 07. A Fourier analysis programme has been applied on our measured data of the flare star BD+55°1823 in Johnson'sV andB bands. A period of 16d and amplitude of 0 . m 14 have been detected in theV-band.  相似文献

The periodogram analysis of theV observations of the Scuti star HR 1225 has been carried out. Two frequencies of 6.415 cd (P 0=0 . d 1558) and 8.418 cd (P 1=0 . d 1188) have been determined. The period ratio ofP 1/P 0=0.762 indicates radial pulsation. The absolute magnitude, effective temperature and mass of the star are derived to be 1 . m 05, 7600 K and 1.9M , respectively.  相似文献

Photometry of HD 155638=V792 Her has been analyzed to determine the elements of this totally eclipsing RS CVn binary. The light variation outside eclipse was found to have a period of 27d.07±0d.07, which is slightly different from the 27d.5384±0d.0045 orbital period. Analysis of the eclipses was achieved by a modification of the Russell-Merrill technique. With the aid of radial velocity measures, absolute elements were obtained for the hot and cool stars, respectively;R h=2.58R ,R c=12.28R ,M h=1.40M ,M c=1.46M ,i=80o.61 and velocity semi-amplitudesK c=48.36 km s–1±0.79 km s–1, andK h=50.50 km s–1±0.33 km s–1. The apparent magnitudes areV h=9 m .73 andV c=8 m .48. The distance to HD 155638 was estimated to be 310 parsecs.  相似文献

B andV photometry of DM UMa obtained between January, 1980 and June, 1984 is presented. Analysis yields a mean photometric period 7d.478±0d.010, compared to the known oribital period of 7d.492±0d.009. Light curves obtained during any two seasons do not agree in any of the following: shape, amplitude, phases of the light maxima and minima, mean light level, or brightness at the light maxima and minima. From the change inB-V over the photometric period, we concludethat the hemisphere visible during the light minimum is cooler than that seen during light maximum. The mean colorB-V=1m.065±0m.002 is consistent with K1 III or K2 IV. Phases of light minima lie on two well-separated groups with different slopes; the corresponding periods are 7d.471±0d.002 and 7d.481±0d.001, in dicating that both migrate linearly towards decreasing orbital phase. In terms of the starspot model this indicates that two respective centers of activity were situated at different longitudes and latitudes on a differentially rotating star. From circumstantial evidence we infer that the dark region seen from 1979 onwards disintegrated sometime between the 1982 and 1983 observing seasons, leaving behind an area of relatively high surface brightness. We can put a lower limit of about four years on the lifetime of a center of activity.  相似文献

For single-lined spectroscopic binary stars (SBI), the mass ratioq=M sec/M prim is calculated from the mass functionf(m), which is determined from observations. For statistical investigations of the mass-ratio distribution, the term sin3 i, that remains in the cubic equation from whichq is solved, has to be dealt with.This paper compares the common practise of taking an average value for sin3 i to a deconvolution scheme that takes into account the precise (expected) behaviour ofP (sin3 i) d sin3 i. The behaviour ofP(sin3 i) d sin3 i depends on how orbital planes of binary stars are oriented in space. For a random orientation of orbital planes,P i(i) di=sini di. For the average value method, it is generally assumed thatP i(i) di=(4/) sin2 i di.For verification purposes, the deconvolution scheme is applied to an observed sample of double-lined spectroscopic binary stars (SBII), and to a synthetic sample of SBI systems, produced by a numerical model. In both cases, the scheme produces better results with the assumption thatP i(i) di=(4/gp) sin2 i di, rather than a purely random orientation of orbital planes. In the case of the synthetic sample of SBI systems, the deconvolution scheme does not produce better results than the method that assumes an average value for sin3 i.Application of the deconvolution method to the double-lined spectroscopic binary systems in theEighth Catalogue of the Orbital Elements of Spectroscopic Binary Stars, provides results which are compatible with the assumption that the orbital planes of these systems are oriented randomly in space.  相似文献

Sinusoidal variations in Johnson'sB-band of the flare star EV Lac have been confirmed at its quiet state luminosity. The cycle lengths are more than one hour and less than two hours with amplitudes varying from 0 . m 105 to 0 . m 306. These registered cycles have agreed with cycles detected by Mavridis and Varvoglis (1990) and Mavridis (1990). In the same time, the cycles have confirmed the light variation detection in Johnson'sV-band in the same flare star by Pettersen (1980) with a cyclic period equals about 4 . d 378 and an amplitude of about 0 . m 07. Our net results confirm, to some extent, the presence of active region(s) as an origin of stellar flare phenomenon of UV Ceti type flare stars. We can cautiously say that the solar and stellar flare phenomenon have a similar origin.  相似文献
