巴布亚新几内亚地质构造格架复杂,包括地台、碰撞造山带、外来地体、俯冲带、岛弧和海底扩张中心。巴布亚新几内亚铜金矿床类型主要为斑岩型铜金矿床、浅成低温热液型金银矿床和夕卡岩型铜金矿床(三者之间具有密切的时间、空间和成因关系),其次为海底块状硫化物矿床。铜金矿床分布比较集中,主要产出于碰撞造山带和岛弧上,其次产出于现代海底扩张中心。铜金矿床大多规模巨大或较大,埋藏较浅,易于勘探和适合露天开采。与铜金矿床有关的岩浆岩大多为钙碱性火山岩和浅成侵入岩,少数与富钾碱性火山岩(橄榄玄粗岩)或侵入岩伴生。铜金矿床蚀变带发育且分带性明显,大多与斑岩体系和/或火山机构有关。虽然许多铜金矿床的矿物成分比较复杂,但是其矿石较易处理和利用。  相似文献

在对大洋洲优势矿产资源的成矿地质背景、成矿区带划分、矿床类型和资源潜力进行初步研究的基础上,对澳大利亚及巴布亚新几内亚等国的投资环境和中国地勘矿业“走出去”工作现状等进行分析,认为澳大利亚和巴布亚新几内亚两国的铁、锰、铜、铝、镍,以及具有战略意义的金、铀、稀土等矿产的资源储量潜力巨大,与中国形成良好的矿产资源互补性,是中国企业“走出去”进行矿业开发的理想对象,并结合自身经验提出长期和短期“走出去”的相关建议。  相似文献

Geological structure of the active foreland fold and thrust belt of Papua New Guinea has been interpreted using high-quality seismic-reflection data. Three en échelon anticlines, the Strickland, Cecilia and Wai Asi, are located along the frontal margin of the Papuan Fold Belt. All three are foreland-vergent and cut by hinterland-dipping thrust faults that sole into a common detachment beneath the Oligocene to Miocene Darai Limestone. Two of the anticlines are linked by a right-lateral transfer zone. Folding occurs primarily in the upper 2000 m of strata, which consist of Darai Limestone overlain by Miocene to Quaternary siliciclastic sedimentary rocks. Beneath the Darai Limestone lies the less-competent shaly Ieru Formation, which exhibits disharmonic folding and variable bed thickness. Seismic-reflection data clearly show that the Plio-Pleistocene upper Era Beds are deformed to the same extent as the underlying Darai Limestone, demonstrating that most of the observed deformation has occurred during the Late Pliocene and Pleistocene.  相似文献

东南亚的巽他群岛-巴布亚新几内亚是新生代埃达克岩和类埃达克岩发育的地区。这些中酸性岩浆岩广泛见于印度尼西亚几内亚岛、苏拉威西和巴布亚新几内亚, 零星见于苏门答腊、班达岛弧、西爪哇和中加里曼丹等地。本区埃达克岩和类埃达克岩岩石类型分别属于岛弧拉斑钙碱性系列和高钾钙碱性系列, 以重稀土元素Y, Yb含量低(分别为Y ≤19 ×10-6和Yb ≤1.8 ×10-6)和高Sr值(>355 × 10-6)为特征。微量元素蛛网图上有明显的Ba、K、Sr正异常峰和负的Th、Nb (Ta)异常谷。大离子亲石元素(LILE)和高场强元素(HFSE)相对富集。本区埃达克岩和类埃达克岩的构造位置为新生代缝合线附近的大洋岛弧和陆缘造山带, 可划分为两种成因类型:第一种为岛弧拉斑/钙碱性系列, 其REE配分模式属于大洋岛弧型, 见于现代大洋岛弧, 称为岛弧型(O-型)埃达克岩; 另一种为高钾钙碱性系列, 其REE配分模式属于大陆型, 产于大陆板块边缘造山带, 与弧-陆碰撞和后碰撞构造环境有成因联系, 见于大陆边缘, 称为大陆型(C-型)埃达克岩。 研究结果表明:大陆型(C-型)埃达克岩和类埃达克岩分布区域与世界级斑岩铜-金矿分布相一致, 而大洋岛弧型(O-型)主要与浅成热泉金矿和喷气型有成因联系。   相似文献

巴布亚新几内亚是在澳大利亚板块与太平洋板块斜向和快速汇聚的边界带内演化的,是世界上构造运动最复杂的区带之一,其地球动力学演化涉及俯冲与火山岛弧(岩浆弧)形成、弧陆碰撞与造山、俯冲陆壳折返-岩浆侵入-成矿作用等地质作用。地质年代学研究指出,巴布亚新几内亚主岛(新几内亚岛)的地球动力学次序是:①引起抬升和折返的碰撞作用;②折返期间或稍后的侵入作用;③侵入岩体系晚期的成矿事件。在地球动力学次序中,巴布亚新几内亚铜金成矿时代主要集中在25~0Ma之间,其中几个世界级矿床更为年轻,成矿年龄只有6-0Ma。笔者按成矿时代将巴布亚新几内亚铜金成矿作用分为第一高潮(23~12Ma)、第二高潮(7-1Ma)和第三高潮(现在进行时)(0.5-0Ma)。巴布亚新几内亚铜金成矿受大地构造、侵入杂岩体、特定赋矿地层、转换构造、背斜、各种断裂、破火山或火山管道等控制。  相似文献

Strontium isotope data for Quaternary volcanic rocks from six separate areas in Papua New Guinea suggest a subdivision into two broad groups. One group consists of island volcanoes that have lower Sr37/Sr38 ratios (0.7034–0.7043) and show isotopic homogeneity within each area sampled. Except for the St. Andrew Strait samples, it is considered that these rocks were produced from relatively homogeneous source regions in the upper mantle. Volcanoes of the second group (on the Papua New Guinea mainland) have generally a higher and wider range of Sr37/Sr36 ratios, compared to those of the first group. It is thought that the magmas of these mainland volcanoes were affected by different degrees of sialic crustal contamination, or were derived from heterogeneous sources in the upper mantle.  相似文献

Quaternary and upper Tertiary lavas from the volcanic islands along the north coast of east New Guinea consist of pyroxene andesites, andesitic basalts, and basalts; many contain accessory olivine. The lavas of Mts Lamington, Yelia, and Victory, in southeast Papua and New Guinea, are rather more acid hornblende and lamprobolite andesites. Peralkaline obsidian and rhyolite occur at Fergusson and Dobu Islands, east of the Papuan mainland. Chemical analyses show that most of the lavas are of calc‐alkaline type, although some from Karkar and Long Islands appear to have tholeiitic tendencies.  相似文献

The south crater wall of a Quaternary tephra cone in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea collapsed on 20 April 1999 and sent a 150,000-m 3 landslide into its lake. Displacing 5–10% of the lake's volume, the landslide induced a 15-m-high wave which flattened vegetation throughout the crater interior, and broke over a low saddle in the crater's east rim where it destroyed two houses and injured 11 people, killing one.  相似文献

Southeast Asia has had both volcanic tsunamis and possesses some of the most densely populated, economically important and rapidly developing coastlines in the world. This contribution provides a review of volcanic tsunami hazard in Southeast Asia. Source mechanisms of tsunami related to eruptive and gravitational processes are presented, together with a history of past events in the region. A review of available data shows that many volcanoes are potentially tsunamigenic and present often neglected hazard to the rapidly developing coasts of the region. We highlight crucial volcanic provinces in Indonesia, the Philippines and Papua New Guinea and propose strategies for facing future events.  相似文献

Tsunamis originating in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea can be locally devastating and also occasionally threaten coastal areas of northern Australia. Tsunamis may be caused by earthquakes, volcanoes or submarine landslides. In Rabaul a unique set of records exists of tsunamis and seiches generated by tectonic earthquakes, volcanic earthquakes and a volcanic eruption. Spectral analysis of the digitised waveforms has been undertaken to compare the effects of the different sources and to estimate the characteristic natural periods of Rabaul Harbour. Seiches in Rabaul Harbourhave dominant periods of 20 to 30 min, a period band that is also typical for coastal recordings of tsunamis.  相似文献

Papua New Guinea’s petroleum sector has substantially grown in the last 2 years. There is an increase in exploration expenditure, which also sees a corresponding increase in the number of exploration licences. Two new petroleum projects have been commissioned and these have added to production of the existing projects. The oilfields are small by world standards. New Pb-, Sr-, and Nd-isotopic data have been obtained for the rocks of volcanoes overlying a wide range of depths (100–580 km) to the Wadati-Benioff Zone (WBZ) in the New Britain island arc, Papua New Guinea. Well-defined trends consistent with two-component mixing are observed in combined Pb-isotope/trace-element plots. One of the components is believed to represent a slab contribution whose isotopic signature, unlike those noted for several other arcs, appears to be dominated by subducted, altered, oceanic crust rather than by sediment. This conclusion is consistent with the results of a recent Be–B study of New Britain rocks. The influence of the slab component is considered to decrease as depth to the WBZ increases. Higher abundances of high-field-strength elements correlate with increasing depths to the WBZ, and may be indicative of smaller degrees of partial melting of the mantle wedge as WBZ depths increase. Abundances of other incompatible elements appear to reflect a complex interplay between the slab-derived flux and melting process.  相似文献

Analyses of the lipid constituents of three temperate lacustrine sediments (Rostherne Mere, Esthwaite Water and Grasmere, Great Britain) and three sub-tropical lagoonal/tidal flat sediments (U.S. Virgin Islands, Rockhampton, Qld., Australia and Port Moresby, Papua, New Guinea) indicate the presence of straight-chain components attributable to autochthonous and allochthonous sources. Despite broad similarities in carbon-number distributions, minor differences observed in the respective hydrocarbon and in the respective fatty-acid compositions of the various sediments reflect differences in the sedimentary environments. Lipid constituents obtained by organic solvent extraction following acid hydrolysis appear to include a larger bacterial contribution than that observed in the lipids extracted by solvent alone.  相似文献

On November 1, 1970, an earthquake of magnitude 7.0 occurred 32 km north of Madang on the north coast of Papua New Guinea, and on the fringes of the Adelbert Range. Dense landsliding occurred over an area of 240 km2. Debris avalanches removed shallow soil and forest vegetation from slopes of 45°. Earthflows occurred on deeper soils and lower-angled slopes. The nature of the landslides and disposition of the vegetation debris suggest that falling trees triggered the landslides during the earthquake. Logs in the deposits were an important influence on the movement of landslide debris in the channel systems.  相似文献

Abstract. Papua New Guinea is geologically highly prospective for minerals. There are three world class, open pit mines located at Ok Tedi, Porgera and Lihir, and two medium-scale underground operations at Tolukuma and Kainantu. Two other mining projects - Ramu and Simberi are fully licensed and will be mined in the next 6–12 months. The mining sector is the major contributor to the export income and taxation revenue of the country.  相似文献

Detrital zircon from two basement blocks (Kubor and Bena Bena) in the central Highlands of Papua New Guinea has an age signature that strongly suggests a northern Australian provenance. Samples of the Omung Metamorphics, southeastern Kubor Block, together yield principal zircon populations with ages of ca 1.8 Ga (~10% of the total), ca 1.55 Ga (~10%), 470–440 Ma (~15%), ca 340 Ma (~10%) and 290–260 Ma (~40%).Two tonalite stocks of the Kubor Intrusive Complex, which intrude the Omung Metamorphics, yield indistinguishable ages of 244.8 ± 4.9 Ma and 239.1 ± 4.2 Ma.Therefore, the deposition and subsequent deformation of the Omung Metamorphics is Late Permian to Early Triassic. A sample of Goroka Formation (Bena Bena Block) contains detrital zircon of similar ages to the Omung Metamorphics, ca 1.8 Ga (5%), ca 1.55 Ga (~45%), ca 430 Ma (~5%) and ca 310 Ma (~40%), suggesting that the Goroka Formation has a similar provenance and might be correlative. In contrast, a metapsammite from the Bena Bena Formation yielded only ages of 290–280 Ma (85%) and ca 240 Ma (15%). A tuff interbedded in the Bena Bena Formation yielded only igneous zircon with a Late Triassic age of 221 ± 3 Ma. Contrary to previous interpretations, the Bena Bena Formation is probably younger than the Goroka Formation. Ages of New Guinea detrital zircon closely match those of igneous and detrital zircon from the Coen Inlier, northeastern Queensland, but contrast with the ages of zircon from terranes further south, east and west. The Kubor and Bena Bena Blocks are not suspect terranes, but rather form part of the Australian craton. The craton margin, modified by rifting during the Mesozoic, was re‐inverted during Cenozoic compression. The Australian craton, in the eastern Highlands of Papua New Guinea, extends at least as far north as the Markham Valley, the northern edge of the Bena Bena terrane.  相似文献
