High-resolution geophysical data define acoustically amorphous, mounded structures on the upper, middle, and lower continental slope of the northern Gulf of Mexico. Physical samples and observations within this unique seismic facies show gassy sediments, sometimes in hydrated form and, in places, as chemosynthetic communities. The geologic setting of these mounds suggests that the process of formation falls on the continuum of mud volcanoes to mud diapirs.  相似文献

A study of sediment dynamics has been conducted on the Tarakan sub-basin, North Kalimantan, Indonesia using multivariate analysis. Multivariate statistical techniques can be used to determine sediment with similar characteristics and be a good proxy to recognize sedimentary facies and depositional environment. These methods have been applied to characterize the sedimentary facies at Tarakan sub-basin. A total of 23 samples were taken from several locations on the different depths of 56–2554?m that represent varieties of environment. The study is interpreted using compositional data analysis associated with a grain size trend analysis (GSTA), principal component analysis (PCA), and cluster analysis (CA). The GSTA value showed the dominance of poorly sorted silt indicating that the sediment is mostly deposited in low-energy depositional. The CA and the PCA determined three distinct sedimentary facies: shelf facies, upper bathyal facies, and lower bathyal facies. The facies were grouped as similar sediment and depositional environment. Sedimentological variables applied in the characterization were described to be an important tool for the interpretation of depositional environments – indirectly showing hydrodynamic energy.  相似文献

为推进我国石油工业发展丰富石油地质理论,根据野外露头及室内分析化验资料,建立8种相标志,识别出索瓦期沉积相类型有:台地相、台地边缘相、盆地相和海陆过渡相、湖泊相。受北部拉竹龙-金沙江缝合带、中央隆起带和南部班公湖-怒江缝合带的影响,沉积相呈近东西向展布,具南北分带的特点。文章分析了索瓦期的沉积特征,总结了该期的沉积模式。根据研究区的生物特征和沉积特征,推断当时气候是温暖、半干旱的。综合分析认为,索瓦组是羌塘盆地很有潜力的油气勘探目的层,其与上覆雪山组地层可构成有利的含油气组合;而双湖-多涌地区是首选的含油气有利区带。  相似文献

南黄海盆地经历了多年油气勘探,无论是在中生界还是新生界,至今未获得油气突破。新生界储层具有优越的储集条件,故重点分析了古近系阜宁组和三朵—戴南组的沉积特征及其沉积演化特征。以钻井和测井资料为基础,将阜宁组和三朵—戴南组划分为4种沉积相类型,即河流相、扇三角洲相、三角洲相和湖相,其中河流相在研究区可划分为辫状河流相和曲流河流相;并且分析了各沉积相、沉积亚相和沉积微型的岩电性特征。仔细解剖地震反射特征,进行阜宁组和三朵—戴南组地震相分析,以单井相分析为基础,解析各地震相沉积意义。根据瓦尔特定律,将单井沉积相分析与地震相分析充分结合,分析各层段沉积相分布特征。阜宁组主要发育曲流河流相、扇三角洲相、滨浅湖相和半深湖相;三朵—戴南组主要发育辫状河流相、扇三角洲相和滨浅湖相。根据区域构造演化特征,结合沉积相分析,深入分析了研究区古近系阜宁组至三朵—戴南组的沉积演化特征。  相似文献

随着下二门油田开发的逐渐深入,下层系的剩余油研究和沉积微相研究也取得了极大的进展.在充分把握该层系沉积微相特征及剩余油分布的基础之上,将剩余油分布三维空间模型与沉积微相的空间展布模型结合起来,对不同沉积相带的剩余油从剩余地质储量、剩余储量丰度、剩余油饱和度进行定量统计分析,进一步探讨沉积微相跟剩余油分布的定量关系.该研究对预测剩余油分布及制定合理的挖潜对策,提高油藏开发效率及最终提高石油采收率具有重要的指导意义,并且其研究思路和方法可适用于其它同类油藏.  相似文献

从相分析着手,重点剖析京山、崇阳两条岩相剖面,系统地研究了岩石、古生物、地球化学组分及分布规律。在此基础上提出了中扬子二叠系碳酸盐岩岩相模式。二叠系碳酸盐岩属台地碳酸盐岩岩相,包括潮坪、局限台地、台地浅滩、开阔台地A、开阔台地B、边缘浅滩、斜坡等七个次级相。该模式较合理地解释了中扬子二叠系碳酸盐岩的发育规律,并对硅质岩、白云岩的成因提出了新认识。  相似文献

从剖析表征沉积环境演变的生物学、地质动力学以及地球化学指示因子入手,系统总结了近年来胶州湾沉积环境演变研究的进展,揭示了诸如有孔虫、沉积物粒度、生源要素、污染物及有机质等众多指示因子以及它们的相关组合与环境演变的关系。综合分析表明,胶州湾沉积速率较低,属于缓慢淤积的海湾,是一个典型的潮汐汊道系统。胶州湾的沉积环境演变分为4个阶段:陆相、三角洲沼泽相、海陆过渡相和海湾相。在过去的50 a中,特别是近20 a来,由于受人类活动与工业排污的影响,胶州湾的沉积环境发生了显著的变化,海域面积大大减少,陆源输入已经成为胶州湾沉积物的主要来源,沉积速率不断增加,局部海域特别是河口附近污染加重。这些变化都是通过各种生物、地质动力和地球化学因子来综合体现的。  相似文献

利用综合录井和三维地震等资料,讨论了黄骅坳陷南部滩海区中生界划分,分析了中生界展布规律,并对中生界主要目的层进行了测井相、地震相特征分析,在此基础上进行了沉积相和亚相特征研究。研究区残留中生界的分布主要受印支期南北向挤压、燕山中期SE-NW向挤压和新生代右阶右行拉分的综合作用,中、下侏罗统在研究区的北区复背斜地势低洼处分布,残留体长轴方向近东西向展布,主沉降中心靠近东部,残留厚度从四周向中心增厚。南区缺失中、下侏罗统,三叠纪在南区分布在EW向原古生界隐伏背斜之上。研究区中生界主要目的层为下侏罗统,属于温暖湿润气候条件下的曲流河沉积体系,曲流河沉积可分为河道亚相和河漫滩亚相,河道亚相砂砾岩成分和结构成熟度高,具有良好的储集性,河漫滩沼泽亚相一般为细颗粒沉积,通常作为盖层。  相似文献

西湖凹陷是东海陆架盆地重点生海气凹陷之一,它在新生代经历断陷,坳陷,区域抬升和区域沉降四个阶段,在纵向序列上表现为二次明显的海侵和一次海退,一次水进和一次水退。由于构造运动的不均匀性,沉积基地的起伏,多物源和水进水退多次旋回,在凹陷不同时期,不同部形成不同的沉答相,这一切与下油气的生成,聚集有着极为密切的关系。  相似文献

Long-range sidescan sonar can be used to map sediment distributions over wide expanses of deep ocean floor. Seven acoustic facies that arise from differing sediment or rock types have been mapped over the low-relief Saharan continental rise and Madeira abyssal plain. These have been calibrated with sampling, profiling and camera studies and the facies can be traced confidently on a regional scale using the sidescan data. The mapping of the sediment distribution shows that a complex interplay of turbidity current and debris flow processes can occur at a continental rise/abysaal plain transition over 1000 km from the nearest continental slope.  相似文献

利用南海西沙周缘地震资料,进行了地震相研究,并结合邻区地质资料,进行了南海西沙周缘新生代沉积相分析,讨论了盆地的充填演化历史。研究认为,南海西沙周缘盆地充填断陷期以陆相和海陆过渡相沉积为主;坳陷期以海陆过渡相和海相沉积为主,自下而上充填了一套冲积相-湖相(始新统)-海陆交替相(渐新统)-滨浅海台地相(中-下中新统)-浅海、半深海相(上新统-第四系)沉积序列,盆地的充填历史反映了南海西沙周缘沉积环境由陆相向海相逐渐过渡的过程。通过对油气地质条件分析,认为始新世-渐新世早期是重要的烃源岩发育期;渐新世晚期-中新世中期是储层发育期;中新世晚期后是区域该层发育时期。  相似文献

The deep ocean floor between the Clarion and Clipperton fracture zones (NE equatorial Pacific) has the highest known manganese nodule abundance in the world oceans. A detailed analysis of MR1 (Mapping Researcher 1, 11–12?kHz) sonar images and free-fall grab data in the Korean manganese nodule field areas reveals a close relationship between side-scan sonar characteristics of the seafloor and manganese nodule abundance. Eight sonar facies are identified based on back-scattering intensity and distribution patterns. These sonar facies can be interpreted as (1) volcanic seamounts (facies I-1), (2) bounding faults of abyssal hills (facies I-2 and II-1), (3) lava flows or volcanoclastic mass-flow deposits around the volcanic seamounts (facies I-3 and II-2), (4) crests of abyssal hills (facies II-1), (5) abyssal troughs between abyssal hills (facies III-1), (6) relatively flat areas (facies II-3 and III-2). In the areas where facies II-1 (abyssal hill crests with thin sediment cover) and II-3 (relatively flat areas draped by thin sediments) are dominant, manganese nodules occur abundantly. In contrast, zones comprising facies III-1 (abyssal troughs with thick sediment cover) and III-2 (relatively flat areas covered by thick sediments) are characterized by low abundance of manganese nodules. This relationship between distribution of sonar facies and manganese nodule abundance implies that (1) the qualitative difference in acoustic reflectivity of long-range side-scan sonar with some ground truth data is useful for regional assessment of manganese nodule occurrence over wide areas in a reasonable time, and (2) seafloor topography and sediment thickness are important controlling factors for regional occurrences of manganese nodules.  相似文献

Seismic reflection profiles and vibracores have revealed that an inner shelf, sand-ridge field has developed over the past few thousand years situated on an elevated, broad bedrock terrace. This terrace extends seaward of a major headland associated with the modern barrier-island coastline of west-central Florida. The overall geologic setting is a low-energy, sediment-starved, mixed siliciclastic/carbonate inner continental shelf supporting a thin sedimentary veneer. This veneer is arranged in a series of subparallel, shore-oblique, and to a minor extent, shore-parallel sand ridges. Seven major facies are present beneath the ridges, including a basal Neogene limestone gravel facies and a blue-green clay facies indicative of dominantly authigenic sedimentation. A major sequence boundary separates these older units from Holocene age, organic-rich mud facies (marsh), which grades upward into a muddy sand facies (lagoon or shallow open shelf/seagrass meadows). Cores reveal that the muddy shelf facies is either in sharp contact or grades upward into a shelly sand facies (ravinement or sudden termination of seagrass meadows). The shelly sand facies grades upward to a mixed siliciclastic/carbonate facies, which forms the sand ridges themselves. This mixed siliciclastic/carbonate facies differs from the sediment on the beach and shoreface, suggesting insignificant sediment exchange between the offshore ridges and the modern coastline. Additionally, the lack of early Holocene, pre-ridge facies in the troughs between the ridges suggests that the ridges themselves do not migrate laterally extensively. Radiocarbon dating has indicated that these sand ridges can form relatively quickly (1.3 ka) on relatively low-energy inner shelves once open-marine conditions are available, and that frequent, high-energy, storm-dominated conditions are not necessarily required. We suggest that the two inner shelf depositional models presented (open-shelf vs. migrating barrier-island) may have co-existed spatially and/or temporally to explain the distribution of facies and vertical facies contacts.  相似文献

The poorly known ferromanganese nodule fauna is a widespread hard substratum community in the deep sea that will be considerably impacted by large-scale nodule mining operations. The objective of this study was to analyze the spatial distribution of the fauna attached to nodules in the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone at two scales; a regional scale that includes the east (14°N, 130°W) and the west (9°N, 150°W) zones and a local scale in which different geological facies (A, B, C and west) are recognizable. The fauna associated with 235 nodules was quantitatively described: 104 nodules from the east zone (15 of facies A, 50 of facies B and 39 of facies C) and 131 nodules from the west zone. Percent cover was used to quantify the extent of colonization at the time of sampling, for 42 species out of the 62 live species observed. Fauna covered up to 18% of exposed nodule surface with an average of about 3%. While species richness increased with exposed nodule surface, both at the regional and at the facies scales (except for facies A), total species density decreased (again except for facies A). When all nodules were included in the statistical analysis, there was no relation between faunal cover and exposed nodule surface. Nevertheless, faunal cover did decrease with exposed nodule surface for the east zone in general and for both facies B and C in particular. Species distributions among facies were significantly different but explained only a very small portion of the variance (∼5%). We identified two groups of associated species: a first group of two species and a second group of six species. The other species (34) were independently distributed, suggesting that species interactions play only a minor role in the spatial distribution of nodule fauna. The flux of particulate organic carbon to the bottom is the only major environmental factor considered to vary between the two zones within this study. We conclude that the higher species richness and higher percent faunal cover of the east zone can be partially attributed to greater food availability derived from surface inputs. Moreover, the surfaces of facies B and C nodules had a complex, knobby micro-relief, creating microhabitat heterogeneity that may also have contributed to the greater species richness observed in the east zone.  相似文献

The Kaimiro Formation is an early to middle Eocene, NE-SW trending reservoir fairway in Taranaki Basin, and comprises a range of coastal plain through to shallow marine facies. A time of regional transgression is observed across the Paleocene–Eocene transition, which is linked to a general global warming trend and to regional thermal relaxation-related subsidence in New Zealand. The earliest Eocene transgressive deposits pass upwards into a series of cyclically stacked packages, interpreted as 3rd and 4th order sequences. Maximum regression occurred within the early Eocene and was followed by punctuated retrogradational stacking patterns associated with shoreline retreat and subsequent regional transgression in the middle Eocene.The Kaimiro Formation is considered a good reservoir target along most of the reservoir fairway, which can largely be attributed to a consistently quartz-rich, lithic-poor composition and reasonably coarse sand grain size. Correlations demonstrate that within the early Eocene the main reservoir facies are channel-fill sandstones overlying candidate sequence boundaries in paleoenvironmentally landward (proximal) settings, and upper shoreface/shoreline sandstones in relatively basinward (distal) settings. Middle Eocene reservoir facies are not represented in distal wells due to overall transgression at this time, yet they form a significant target in more proximal well locations, particularly on the Taranaki Peninsula.Depositional facies is one of the principal controls on sandstone reservoir quality. However, while reservoir facies have been proven along the length of the reservoir fairway, it is evident that diagenesis has significantly impacted sandstone quality. Relatively poor reservoir properties are predicted for deeply buried parts of the basin (maximum burial >4.5 km) due to severe compaction and relatively abundant authigenic quartz and illite. In contrast, good reservoir properties are locally represented in reservoir facies where present-day burial depths are <4 km due to less severe compaction, cementation and illitisation. Within these beds (<4 km) the presence of locally occurring authigenic grain-coating chlorite (shallow marine facies) and/or well-developed secondary porosity are both favourable to reservoir quality, while pervasive kaolinite and/or carbonate are both detrimental to reservoir quality.These results illustrate how an interdisciplinary approach to regional reservoir characterisation are used to help reduce risk during prospect evaluation. Assessment of both reservoir distribution and quality is necessary and can be undertaken through integrated studies of facies, sequence stratigraphy, burial modelling and petrography.  相似文献
