A hybrid GSI (Grid-point Statistical Interpolation)-ETKF (Ensemble Transform Kalman Filter) data assimilation system has been recently developed for the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model and tested with simulated observations for tropical cyclone (TC) forecast. This system is based on the existing GSI but with ensemble background information incorporated. As a follow-up, this work extends the new system to assimilate real observations to further understand the hybrid scheme. As a first effort to explore the system with real observations, relatively coarse grid resolution (27 km) is used. A case study of typhoon Muifa (2011) is performed to assimilate real observations including conventional in-situ and satellite data. The hybrid system with flow-dependent ensemble covariance shows significant improvements with respect to track forecast compared to the standard GSI system which in theory is three dimensional variational analysis (3DVAR). By comparing the analyses, analysis increments and forecasts, the hybrid system is found to be potentially able to recognize the existence of TC vortex, adjust its position systematically, better describe the asymmetric structure of typhoon Muifa and maintain the dynamic and thermodynamic balance in typhoon initial field. In addition, a cold-start hybrid approach by using the global ensembles to provide flow-dependent error is tested and similar results are revealed with those from cycled GSI-ETKF approach.  相似文献

基于集合卡尔曼变换与三维变分(ETKF-3DVAR)混合资料同化系统和欧洲中期天气预报中心(ECWMF)的全球集合预报,以"梅花"台风为例,分析了台风系统预报误差的流依赖特征,讨论了耦合系数在混合同化和预报中的敏感性及其对预报质量的影响。结果显示,台风系统的预报误差协方差具有显著的中小尺度结构特征,集合估计的预报误差协方差结构能够再现其流依赖属性。相对于3DVAR方案,混合资料同化方案的最优耦合系数对台风系统的分析和预报质量具有更好的改善;但不同的耦合系数对台风路径预报有明显的影响,不合适的耦合系数甚至可能导致更坏的结果,只有耦合了相对合适的预报误差协方差的流依赖信息,混合资料同化方案才可能对分析和预报质量有正效果。这表明在混合资料同化系统中,构造一种具有自适应能力的耦合权重函数,实现相对最优权重的自动选择,对充分发挥混合资料同化方案的潜在优势具有重要意义。  相似文献

The impact of assimilating radiances from the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit-A (AMSU-A) on the track prediction of Typhoon Megi (2010) was studied using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model and a hybrid ensemble three-dimensional variational (En3DVAR) data assimilation (DA) system. The influences of tuning the length scale and variance scale factors related to the static background error covariance (BEC) on the track forecast of the typhoon were studied. The results show that, in typhoon radiance data assimilation, a moderate length scale factor improves the prediction of the typhoon track. The assimilation of AMSU-A radiances using 3DVAR had a slight positive impact on track forecasts, even when the static BEC was carefully tuned to optimize its performance. When the hybrid DA was employed, the track forecast was significantly improved, especially for the sharp northward turn after crossing the Philippines, with the flow-dependent ensemble covariance. The flow-dependent BEC can be estimated by the hybrid DA and was capable of adjusting the position of the typhoon systematically. The impacts of the typhoon-specific BEC derived from ensemble forecasts were revealed by comparing the analysis increments and forecasts generated by the hybrid DA and 3DVAR. Additionally, for 24 h forecasts, the hybrid DA experiment with use of the full flow-dependent background error substantially outperformed 3DVAR in terms of the horizontal winds and temperature in the lower and mid-troposphere and for moisture at all levels.  相似文献

The impact of assimilating radiance data from the advanced satellite sensor GMI(GPM microwave imager) for typhoon analyses and forecasts was investigated using both a three-dimensional variational(3DVAR) and a hybrid ensemble-3DVAR method. The interface of assimilating the radiance for the sensor GMI was established in the Weather Research and Forecasting(WRF) model. The GMI radiance data are assimilated for Typhoon Matmo(2014), Typhoon Chan-hom(2015), Typhoon Meranti(2016), and Typhoon Mangkhut(2018) in the Pacific before their landing. The results show that after assimilating the GMI radiance data under clear sky condition with the 3DVAR method, the wind,temperature, and humidity fields are effectively adjusted, leading to improved forecast skills of the typhoon track with GMI radiance assimilation. The hybrid DA method is able to further adjust the location of the typhoon systematically. The improvement of the track forecast is even more obvious for later forecast periods. In addition, water vapor and hydrometeors are enhanced to some extent, especially with the hybrid method.  相似文献

以台风路径数值预报的短时效预报偏差和目标时效(指所需订正的时效)的纬度预报为预报因子,采用多元线性回归方法建立了台风路径预报的偏差预估方程,继而对台风路径预报进行实时订正。本文以12 h为短时效,通过对欧洲中期天气预报中心确定性预报模式(ECMWF-IFS)和集合预报模式(ECMWF-EPS)的台风路径预报的应用,得到以下结论:2018年试报结果表明,24 h、36 h、48 h、60 h、72 h、84 h订正后的ECMWF-IFS台风路径预报的平均距离误差分别比订正前减小了7.3 km、9.3 km、8.9 km、6.5 km、6.9 km、2.6 km,总体来说较强台风(指12 h的台风强度实况≥32.7 m s?1)路径预报的订正效果更好。尝试了先对ECMWF-EPS各成员的台风路径预报进行订正,再进行集成预报,并对比了以下5种方式得到的台风路径预报:“订正后的确定性预报”、“所有集合预报成员集合平均”、“优选集合预报成员集合平均”、“所有集合预报成员先订正再集合平均”和“优选集合预报成员先订正再集合平均”,2018年试报结果表明,对于平均距离误差,24 h和36 h“优选集合预报成员先订正再集合平均”最小,48 h和60 h“所有集合预报成员先订正再集合平均”最小,72 h和84 h“优选集合预报成员集合平均”最小,如果在业务中有针对性地进行应用,有望获得一个在各预报时效表现都较优异的台风路径客观综合预报结果。24 h、36 h、48 h、60 h“优选集合预报成员先订正再集合平均”的平均距离误差分别比“所有集合预报成员集合平均”减小了13.3 km、11.7 km、10.0 km、7.6 km,比中央气象台官方预报(对应的时效为12 h、24 h、36 h、48 h)减小了0.7 km、2.0 km、3.9 km、2.4 km。  相似文献

In this paper, a statistical interpretation composite forecast model for typhoon track is set up by using numerical forecast products and several forecast schemes. Tested in 1994 typhoon season, its forecastperformance is much better than that of a previous statistical forecast model. The MM5, which is the PSU/NCAR mesoscale nonhydrostatic limited-area model, and its adjoining modeling system are used in this paper. Taking T106 analysis data as background field the authors generate an optimal initial condition of a typhoon by using two bogus data assimilation schemes, and conduct some numerical simulating experiments. The results of No.9608 typhoon (Gloria) show that the optimal initial field have some dramatic improvements, such as inaccurate position of typhoon center, weaker typhoon circulation and incomplete inner structure of the typhoon, which are caused by shortage of data over the sea. Some improvements have been made in the track forecast. Through several comparing experiments, the initialization optimized by BDA scheme is found to be more reasonable than GFDL scheme and its typhoon track forecast is better.  相似文献

采用FNL再分析资料和美国联合台风警报中心(Joint Typhoon Warning Center,JTWC)资料,运用中尺度WRF(Weather Research and Forecasting)模式,分别使用增长模繁殖法(Breeding of Growing Mode,BGM)和集合卡尔曼变换方法(Ensemble Transform Kalman Filter,ETKF),对1209号台风"苏拉"进行了台风路径的集合预报试验,并对预报效果进行对比分析。结果表明:采用BGM或ETKF初始扰动的集合预报系统,集合平均预报对风场、温度场、位势高度场的预报效果均优于控制预报;ETKF方法的预报改进程度较BGM方法更大,且对风场和温度场预报技巧的优势尤为明显。BGM方法所得到的集合成员离散度小于ETKF方法,对大气真实状态的表征能力不及后者;两种扰动方法的集合平均都明显改善了台风"苏拉"的路径预报结果,尤其是控制预报在福建沿海第二次登陆后移速过快的问题,但对台风登陆位置预报的改进不明显;此外,采用ETKF方法的集合平均对台风"苏拉"路径预报的改进效果远优于采用BGM方法的集合平均预报。  相似文献

A dual-resolution(DR) version of a regional ensemble Kalman filter(EnKF)-3D ensemble variational(3DEnVar) coupled hybrid data assimilation system is implemented as a prototype for the operational Rapid Refresh forecasting system. The DR 3DEnVar system combines a high-resolution(HR) deterministic background forecast with lower-resolution(LR) EnKF ensemble perturbations used for flow-dependent background error covariance to produce a HR analysis. The computational cost is substantially reduced by running the ensemble forecasts and EnKF analyses at LR. The DR 3DEnVar system is tested with 3-h cycles over a 9-day period using a 40/13-km grid spacing combination. The HR forecasts from the DR hybrid analyses are compared with forecasts launched from HR Gridpoint Statistical Interpolation(GSI) 3D variational(3DVar)analyses, and single LR hybrid analyses interpolated to the HR grid. With the DR 3DEnVar system, a 90% weight for the ensemble covariance yields the lowest forecast errors and the DR hybrid system clearly outperforms the HR GSI 3DVar.Humidity and wind forecasts are also better than those launched from interpolated LR hybrid analyses, but the temperature forecasts are slightly worse. The humidity forecasts are improved most. For precipitation forecasts, the DR 3DEnVar always outperforms HR GSI 3DVar. It also outperforms the LR 3DEnVar, except for the initial forecast period and lower thresholds.  相似文献

利用2005 2009年中国气象局(CMA)提供的西北太平洋(包括南海)台风路径业务预报资料,比较了各类型台风路径、台风登陆位置及登陆时间的预报误差,登陆台风不同阶段以及华东登陆和华南登陆台风的路径预报误差。结果表明:CMA在2005 2009年的路径预报水平与1999 2003年的相比有了显著提高。平均南海台风预报误差大于西北太平洋。异常路径台风主要出现于南海,三个预报时效(24、48和72 h)异常路径的预报误差平均都小于正常路径。将登陆台风分为远海、登陆期间和登陆后三个阶段,显示登陆期间台风预报误差最大,同一阶段华南登陆台风的预报误差大于华东登陆台风。台风登陆位置在24、48和72 h预报时效的平均预报误差分别为71.1、122.6和210.6 km,48和72 h台风实际登陆时间有70%早于预报时间,平均分别提早8和12 h。比较大尺度引导气流与台风移动的偏差及24 h路径预报误差,得到南海三种典型登陆台风路径的大尺度引导气流与台风移动的偏差及其与路径预报误差的关系不一样,即误差成因不同。南海倒抛物线型的大尺度引导气流与台风移动的偏差最大,其预报误差最小;西一西北型的大尺度引导气流与台风移动的偏差最小,其预报误差最大,可能与大尺度环流预报准确性差有关。登陆华东的预报误差小于登陆华南台风的预报误差,这与台风登陆华南时其大尺度引导气流和台风移动的偏差大于登陆华东的台风有关。  相似文献

为了在集合预报中更合理描述台风涡旋中心定位的不确定性,采用2009—2018年中国气象局和日本气象厅台风最佳路径数据,分析台风最佳路径涡旋中心定位的不确定性特征,在此基础上设计条件性台风涡旋重定位方法(Conditional Typhoon Vortex Relocation,CTVR),构建集合成员台风涡旋中心重定位阈值条件、台风涡旋分离数学处理及涡旋重定位等数学处理过程,利用中国气象局数值预报中心区域集合预报系统(Global/Regional Assimilation and Prediciton System-Regional Ensemble System,GRAPES-REPS)对2018年西北太平洋上的3个台风(1808号"玛莉亚"、1824号"谭美"和1825号"康妮")进行轴对称结构和轴对称+非对称结构条件性台风涡旋重定位两种方案的集合预报试验和检验评估。结果表明:(1)中国气象局和日本气象厅台风最佳路径误差平均值为13.72 km,可视为台风涡旋中心定位不确定性的合理估计值;(2)统计检验结果和典型个例分析表明,采用轴对称结构和轴对称+非对称结构条件性台风涡旋重定位...  相似文献

This study examines the effects of cumulus parameterizations and microphysics schemes on the track forecast of typhoon Nabi using the Weather Research Forecast model. The study found that the effects of cumulus parameterizations on typhoon track forecast were comparatively strong and the typhoon track forecast of Kain-Fritsch (KF) was superior to that of Betts-Miller (BM). When KF was selected, the simulated results would be improved if microphysics schemes were selected than otherwise. The results from Ferrier, WSM6, and Lin were very close to those in the best track. KF performed well with the simulations of the western extension and eastern contraction changes of a North Pacific high as well as the distribution and strength of the typhoon wind field.  相似文献

根据台风预报业务的实际需求,建立了基于GIS技术的台风预报服务产品制作系统。提出了采用地图表达技术的台风数据可视化方案,讨论了基于空间插值与动态缓冲的台风预报概率圆生成算法,利用叠加分析技术完成了台风路径影响范围分析功能,并提供了一键式材料快速制作功能。业务化运行结果表明:GIS技术能够实现功能建设,较好地满足了目前中央气象台台风预报服务产品制作需求。  相似文献

基于副热带奇异向量的初值扰动方法已应用于GRAPES (Global and Regional Assimilation PrEdiction System)全球集合预报系统,但存在热带气旋预报路径离散度不足的问题。通过分析发现,热带气旋附近区域初值扰动结构不合理导致预报集合不能较好地估计热带气旋预报的不确定性,是路径集合离散度不足的可能原因之一。通过建立热带气旋奇异向量求解方案,将热带气旋奇异向量和副热带奇异向量共同线性组合生成初值扰动,以弥补热带气旋区域初值扰动结构不合理这一缺陷,进而改进热带气旋集合预报效果。利用GRAPES全球奇异向量计算方案,以台风中心10个经纬度区域为目标区构建热带气旋奇异向量求解方案,针对台风"榕树"个例进行集合预报试验,并开展批量试验,利用中国中央气象台最优台风路径和中国国家气象信息中心的降水观测资料进行检验,对比分析热带气旋奇异向量结构特征和初值扰动特征,评估热带气旋奇异向量对热带气旋路径集合预报和中国区域24 h累计降水概率预报技巧的影响。结果表明,热带气旋奇异向量具有局地化特征,使用热带气旋奇异向量之后,热带气旋路径离散度增加,路径集合平均预报误差...  相似文献

利用国家气象中心全球谱模式T639L60(简称T639)数值预报结果和上海台风研究所整编的台风最佳路径数据,基于2009—2010年的样本,分析了西北太平洋和南海台风的环境场预报变量与路径预报误差的相关性,利用线性回归分析,建立了T639台风中心预报误差与环境风整层垂直切变、400 hPa台风环流强度的24~120 h各预报时效线性预估模型(建模样本数分别为299、232、170、117和84个),并利用2011年的样本对模型进行了检验(检验样本数分别为182、146、117、85和61个)。初步结果表明,环境风垂直切变与路径误差呈正相关,台风各层环流强度与路径误差大致呈负相关,其中400 hPa上的负相关性最明显;由环境风垂直切变与400 hPa台风环流强度建立的线性预估模型能对路径预报误差作出定性估计,其中24h预报时效的预估模型有较好的预估效果。  相似文献

利用NCEP、ECMWF、日本数值、英国数值、上海台风模式和广州模式包含全球模式和区域在内的6家数值模式资料,利用近似SEAV方法,设计台风路径多模式集成预报方法(SHME),并用2014—2016年的台风客观预报数据进行多模式集成预报的效果检验,且与ECMWF模式进行比较,通过比较发现,SHME方法较ECMWF在12~48 h预报上有明显改进,在72~120 h预报2014年尤其突出,2015—2016年均与ECMWF预报效果相当。  相似文献

构造合理的背景场误差协方差是做好资料同化的关键。分析了背景误差协方差中变量相关关系在台风季节和非台风季节隐含的不同动力平衡特征,并讨论其对台风同化和预报的影响。分析发现,与非台风季节相比,在台风季节温度与非平衡速度势具有更强的动力相关性,拟相对湿度与其他控制变量的相关性也更显著。这些动力相关性在背景场误差中协方差的引入,将在同化分析过程中使得观测信息可以合理地对同化分析场产生影响。台风循环同化和预报的结果验证了对变量平衡特征的分析:背景误差协方差中新平衡关系的建立,对同化和预报有较大的正面影响,尤其是相对湿度和其他控制变量相关的建立,明显改善了台风路径、强度和降水的预报效果。   相似文献

为能提供较长时效的台风路径数值预报,利用国家气象中心中期数值预报业务谱模式T106L19在其第一猜测场或分析场中加入人造台风模型,进行了96小时的台风路径预报试验。结果表明:由于人造台风模型的加入,使T106L19对台风路径的预报能力有较大的提高,尤其是当T106L19的第一猜测场或分析场中台风涡旋相当弱的情况下效果更明显。另外我们采取三种不同的嵌入方式在T106L19,的资料场中加入人造台风。三种方式分别是:分析前加入人造台风模型(将人造台风模型加在第一猜测场上—T106L19的6小时预报场);分析后加入人造台风模型(将人造台风模型加在分析场上);分析前及分析后两次加入人造台风模型。个例试验结果表明:从平均情况来看分析前加入人造台风模型在台风路径预报前期有较好的表现,其24小时预报距离误差为184.5km,48小时为278.1km,72小时为515.6km。结果的分析还发现:T106L19的初值化使所加入的人造台风涡旋有较大的平滑,初值化后的中心气压值一般在995hPa左右。这对于台风路径的预报会有较大的影响。  相似文献
