Photometric observations of the region of the counterglow (Gegenschein) made from OSO-6 are examined. The observations were made during the September–October 1970 period when the counterglow was between the Milky Way arms at a relatively high (negative) galactic latitude. The lines of sight included a slice across the anti-Sun region at an inclination of 48 degrees to the ecliptic. A comparison is made between the photometric gradients as measured from the spacecraft and similar gradients deduced from ground-based observations.  相似文献

The possibility of reconstructing the surface topography from single images with the photometric method in the linear approximation is analyzed. The photometric method or surface topography Reconstruction employs a statistical approach to the problem formulation and is the most mathematically correct. This method allows determination of the most probable surface topography given specific observational data. When only one image is available, the photometric method is superior in comparison with the currently available photoclinometry. The processing of test surface topography with the photometric method shows that, under typical conditions, the error of surface relief reconstruction is of higher than 40% in terms of the standard deviation of the surface height. The surface relief of some Martian areas are reconstructed from HRSC images obtained by the Mars Express spacecraft. It is shown that the image-reconstructed surface topography is in good agreement with the topographic information for the same Martian areas obtained by the MOLA altimeter.  相似文献

Photometric BV light curves of BO CVn obtained in 1992 and new times of minima are presented. The primary minimum shows a transit, whereas the secondary minimum, shows an occultation. The system may be classified as an A‐type W UMa system. A complete study of minima allows one to detect a possibly increasing period by about 0.037 s/yr. This indicates that the conservative mass transfer rate from the less massive component to the more massive one is 1.57 10—10M /yr. Because of the variable period, the new ephemeris is determined for future observations. Using the Wilson‐Devinney code a simultaneous solution of the B and V light curves is also performed. The analysis shows that the system is in a contact configuration with q = 0.205 ± 0.001 and fillout factor (f) = 0.18, T1 = 7240 K (fixed), T2 = 7150± 10 K. The high orbital inclination i = 87°.54 ± 0.26 was con firmed by photometric observations of the secondary minimum.  相似文献

New photoelectric UBVRI observations of the eclipsing variable V 1016 Ori have been obtained with the AZT-11 telescope at Crimean Astrophysical Observatory and with the Zeiss-600 telescope at Mount Maidanak Observatory. Light curves are constructed from the new observations and from published and archival data. We use a total of 340, 348, 386, 185, and 62 magnitude estimates in the bands from U to I, respectively. An analysis of these data has yielded the following results. The photometric elements were refined; their new values are $Min I = JDH 2441966.820 + 65\mathop .\limits^d 4331E$ . The UBVRI magnitudes outside eclipse were found to be $5\mathop .\limits^m 95$ , $6\mathop .\limits^m 77$ , $6\mathop .\limits^m 75$ , $6\mathop .\limits^m 68$ , and $6\mathop .\limits^m 16$ , respectively. No phase effect was detected. We obtained two light-curve solutions: (1) assuming that the giant star was in front of the small one during eclipse, we determined the stellar radii, r s=0.0141 and r g=0.0228 (in fractions of the semimajor axis of the orbit); and (2) assuming that the small star was in front of the giant one, we derived r g=0.0186 and r s=0.0180 for the V band. The brightness of the primary star in the bands from U to I is L 1=0.96, 0.92, 0.90, 0.89, and 0.88, the orbital inclination is $i = 87^\circ .1$ , and the maximum eclipse phase is α0= 0.66. In both cases, we accepted the U hypothesis, assumed the orbit to be elliptical, and took into account the flux from the star Θ1 Ori E that fell within the photometer aperture. The first solution leads to a discrepancy between the primary radius determined by solving the light curve and the radial-velocity curve and its value estimated from the luminosity and temperature. This discrepancy is eliminated in the second solution, and it turns out that, by all parameters, the primary corresponds to a normal zero-age main-sequence star.  相似文献

From the discussion of 417 photoelectric observations of this semi-detached Algol system, obtained in B and V during 82 nights in 1965–1971, the existence of a gas stream may be inferred for the following reasons: The scatter of the single observations is dependent on the orbital phase; the largest scatter occurs at the phases following both eclipses. The conventional photometric solution which is based on the long region rectification and neglects the photometric influences of the gas stream, gives for the two colours different geometric parameters of the system. However, the short region rectification allows a consistent photometric solution. According to this solution a short total phase exists, and the luminous regions caused by the impact of particles of the gas stream are hidden during the central part of the primary eclipse. Outside of eclipses, the additional light is seen during about half of the orbital period. From the variation of the visibility of the additional light during the primary eclipse it may be concluded that during about the first half of the observing time the luminous regions were situated at the high latitudes of the bright component, indicating the existence of magnetic fields on this component at this epoch, whilst later on the additional light came from an equatorial region on the following side of the massive component.Originally presented at the IAU Colloquium No. 16 held at the Univ. of Pennsylvenia, Philadelphia Pa., U.S.A. We present new photoelectric observations of the eclipsing binary system AB Cas, together with an analysis of the light curves. Using the available times of light minimum reported in the literature together with our own minima, period changes are monitored, and the possible third-body parameters are obtained. The absolute properties of the system and the delta-Scuti behavior of the primary are also discussed.  相似文献

Over four hundred photoelectric observations of U Peg in B and V were secured with a 0.6M reflector at Beijing Observatory in 1978. Four times of minima were determined. A period study of the times of minima from 1896 to 1980 was performed. The system was found to have a secular period decrease, Δp/p of ?1.32 ¢ 10?1 or ?4.16 × 10?3 sec/yr, as well as a short term (17 years) sinusoidal oscillation with a semi-amplitude of 0.00323 day. It is suggested that oscillating term is caused by the light-time effect of an unseen third body. The third body may be a M6 main sequence star with a mass of 0.16 M. The longterm secular change in period may be associated with slow mass transfer.The analysis of the 1978 light curves together with the 1958 light curves of Binnendijk suggest that the system U Peg has an overcontact configuration of about 9%. It has the characteristics of a W-type W UMa system. The photometric mass ratio, m2m1, is between 3 and 2.5. If we correct the Struve et al. γ-velocity from 0 km/sec to about ?40 km/sec the estimated spectroscopic mass ratio would agree with the photoelectric value. Based on the above assumption the absolute dimensions of U Peg are of 0.6 and 1.8 M and of 0.8 and 1.4 R, for components 1 and 2 respectively. The physical dimensions indicate that the components are main sequence stars.  相似文献

Photoelectric observations of the minor planet 63 Ausonia were obtained on 12 nights during the 1976 opposition at the Astronomical Observatory of Torino. A complete lightcurve with two maxima and two minima was observed with a maximum amplitude of 0.47 mag. The synodic period of rotation, never before determined photoelectrically, was found to be 9h17m48s ± 5s. The absolute magnitude of the primary maximum, V0(1, 0) = 7.49 mag, and the phase coefficient, βv = 0.035 mag/deg, were deduced by the magnitude-phase relation. Comparison with other observations is briefly discussed and a mean radius is determined from a previous value of the geometric albedo.  相似文献

The A-type W UMa system V566 Oph was observed photoelectrically in two wavebands (B andV) in the years 1988-1989 at the Kryonerion Astronomical Station of the National Observatory of Athens, Greece. The light curves of the system are analyzed using frequency-domain techniques and new geometric and photometric elements are derived. These elements are combined with the more recent spectroscopic data based on Reticon observations to yield the absolute parameters of the system. The evolutionary status of the system is considered and it is found that V566 Oph has started its evolution away from the Main Sequence. The period of the system continues to increase.  相似文献

New light curves and photometric solutions of the contact binary AZ Vir are presented in this paper. The light curves appear to exhibit a typical O'Connell effect, with Maximum I being 0.021 mag (V) and 0.023 mag (B) brighter than Maximum II, respectively. From the observations, six times of minimum light were determined and from the present times of minimum light and those collected from the references, the light elements of the system were improved. The light curves were analyzed by means of the Wilson‐Devinney program. The results suggest that AZ Vir is a W‐subtype contact binary with a mass ratio of q = 0.623(2). From the results of photometric and polarimetric observations in three colors of small areas of the Moon's illuminated surface, taking stars as the photometric standards, it is concluded that the Moon's surface brightness often fluctuates from the luminosity calculated by Hapke's formula. It seems that the Moon's light is composed of a part which is completely ruled by Hapke's law and has a uniform polarization degree over the entire illuminated surface, and a part which is quite nonpolarized. The brightness fluctuation is due to the variation of the latter part. The enhancement of the brightness is more remarkable in red color than in yellow and blue colors.  相似文献

The contact binary XY Boo is observed photoelectrically, and variations of the orbital period and the light curves are indicated. NewBV light curves and those of Binnendijk (1971) and Winkler (1977) are analysed by used of the light curve synthesis method. Combining the derived photometric elements with the spectroscopic elements of McLean and Hilditch (1983), we obtain values of the masses and the radii of the components of the system.  相似文献

The results of the photometric and polarimetric observation of the Moon's surface with high resolution from October 1969 to March 1971 are discussed. It is found that, for a wide part of the Moon's illuminated surface, the brightnessm, expressed by visual magnitude per square second of arc, can be expressed as $$m = 5.0 - 2.5\log H + 2.5\log \{ {{P_v } \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{P_v } P}} \right. \kern-\nulldelimiterspace} P}(\alpha )\} ,$$ whereH is the variable part of Hapke's formula,P v is the observed polarization degree, andP(α) is a function of the phase angleα. The color shows a tendency to reddening at the enhancement of the lunar brightness, and this is expressed by the relation $$B - V = - 0.2\Delta m + 1.7,$$ where Δm =m + 2.5 logH which is a sort of residual from the brightness calculated by Hapke's formula. Remarkable enhancements of the lunar brightness correspond to solar flares which appeared just before the observations. Because of this the above formula for the observed brightness can be interpreted by assuming the luminescence on the lunar surface stimulated by the solar activity.  相似文献

Taking into account magneto-optical effects, we have obtained numerical solutions of the transfer equations for the Stokes parameters, calculated the linearly polarized intensity (U) and constructed its monochromatic images of unipolar sunspots. By comparison with the observational material of the vector magnetograph of the Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville (Alabama), we have found that the model of radial magnetic fields may give rise to U monochromatic images close to those observed. The same conclusion has been obtained previously by Landi Degl'Innocenti (1979), although his analysis was performed with the Milne-Eddington approximation instead of a detailed sunspot model. Moreover, we have shown that the model of spiral magnetic fields leads to results in contrast with observations.  相似文献

Sixteen poor clusters of galaxies with suspected cD galaxies are studied usingV-band photographs taken with the 105 cm Kiso Schmidt telescope. Galaxian images were automatically detected using an image detection software developed for the present study. TheUBV photometry of 105 bright stars and theU magnitudes of 36 bright stars in M33 taken by the 2 m RCC telescope of the Rozhen Observatory at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences were used to obtain colour-magnitude and colour-colour diagrams. A criterion forV, B-V, andU-B is suggested which facilitates the separation of the member stars from the foreground stars. The vast majority of the bright blue stars with strong negativeU-B are M33 members. The existence of objects with an unusual combination of colours (B-V>0.5 and strong negativeU-B) has been confirmed.  相似文献

Photoelectric observations of the eclipsing binary V 1073 Cyg have been carried out inB andV colours at the Ege University Observatory. The light curves were analyzed with the Wilson-Devinney approach. A period study reveals that the orbital period of the system is decreasing at the rate of (3.21 ± 0.17) second per century.  相似文献
