Disperse megaspores were first found in the Lower Visean deposits of the Kaluga region (1P/A borehole). A layered distribution of the megaspores in the studied section is shown. A large number of megaspores were established in the lower part of the section of the Bobrikovskian deposits. Higher along the section, there is a trend to a decrease in the number of megaspores until they disappear completely in the Tula deposits. Two megaspore assemblages were identified. A great variety of species was observed in the lower assemblage; the dominant megaspores are Zonalesporites brasserti and Aphanozonatisporites triglobatus. The only dominant species was recorded in the upper assemblage, Zonalesporites brasserti, with a low species diversity of the entire assemblage. The miospore and megaspore assemblages that are typical of the Lower Visean in the section of the analyzed borehole are compared.  相似文献

Six assemblages of smaller foraminifers are first distinguished and described from sections of the Kalmard tectonic block, Central Iran. The assemblages that have been studied are correlated with concurrent assemblages from the East European platform, Cis-Urals, Darvaz, Northern Pamir, and some other regions of the Tethyan Realm. The results of correlation and available data on fusulinids and conodonts occurring in association with smaller foraminifers are used for dating the assemblages whose distribution ranges span the stratigraphic interval from the early Sakmarian (lower assemblage) up to the Kubergandian (uppermost assemblage). New species Frondina iranica sp. nov. discovered in the study region is described.  相似文献

A spore-pollen assemblage was established for the first time in the sediments of the Malokuril??skaya Formation (Khromova Bay, Shikotan Island, Lesser Kuril Range, Kuril island arc system). This find enabled dating of the sediments of the uppermost part of the Malokuril??skaya Formation, which, based on this data, are referred to the Maastrichtian-Danian boundary. The assemblage of radiolarian species was identified for the entire section of the Malokuril??skaya Formation. In sediments of the lower part of the section, members of the Inoceramus group were described. These findings add new information to the paleontological characteristics of the Malokuril??skaya Formation. Moreover, our work allowed detailed correlation of the palynological assemblage studied with coeval palynological assemblages of adjacent areas. The similarity of Cretaceous-Paleogene sections of the Ust-Palanskaya (West Kamchatka), Uchir (Sakhalin Island) and Malokuril??skaya Formations, the Upper Cretaceous basement and the Cenozoic cover of the underwater Vityaz Ridge support the shared history of the development of the entire transition zone from the marginal Sea of Okhotsk to the Pacific at the Maastrichtian-Danian boundary.  相似文献

A total of 85 samples, collected from the UBGH1-9 core taken from the Ulleung Basin, East Sea, Korea, were analyzed using diatom assemblages. 111 diatom species belonging to 46 genera were identified, and three diatom assemblage zones were established on the basis of occurrence and distribution pattern of diatoms. Diatom assemblage zone I(134.10–174 m) is characterized by a relatively high abundance of marine species, while the increased number of the brackish species is recorded in diatom assemblage zone II(75–125 m). The assemblage zones IIIa became drastic drop of valve abundances and brackish planktons, whereas it became increase during the IIIb. High Td values which indicate an influence of warm current are recorded both in diatom assemblage zone I and III, and low Td values in diatom assemblage zone II. Analysis of diatom assemblages indicating that the depositional condition moved from oceanic to littoral-neritic environments and that paleotemperature underwent a shift from warm to cold condition at the middle interval, and from cold to warm condition in the upper interval of the UBGH1-9 core. This suggests that the lower(130–162 m) and upper intervals(0–20 m) of the UBGH1-9 core were deposited in the warm current condition(Tsushima Warm Current).  相似文献

The upper Campanian to upper Maastrichtian sedimentary sequence of the Kiseiba Formation in south Western Desert is sampled and described in two surface sections (Sinn El Kaddab and Wadi Abu Siyal). Forty-four agglutinated foraminiferal species are identified from 42 samples in the studied succession. The benthic foraminiferal assemblages are dominated by agglutinated foraminifera which comprise more than 90% of the assemblage. The agglutinated foraminifera are subdivided into five morphogroups (A, B, C, D, E) according to shell architecture, integrated with the supposed microhabitat and feeding strategy. The foraminiferal assemblage is assigned to mixohaline shallow water environments. These assemblages with Ammoastuta megacribrostomoides and Ammotium bartheli suggest lagoonal environments with considerably reduced salinity in warm climates and high runoff for the late Campanian-Maastrichtian interval.  相似文献

Diatom assemblages from the marine Paleogene of Western Kamchatka (the Kovachina, Viventek, and Kuluven formations) are studied. The shallow-water neritic assemblage from the Kovachina Formation of the Pyatibratskii Cape section is tentatively attributed to the middle Eocene, as it is lacking zonal index species. A high abundance and great taxonomic diversity are characteristic of diatoms from the upper part of the Viventek Formation in the Kovran River section. The zonal index species Cavitatus rectus identified here among the diatoms suggests that the respective assemblage is macerated from the synonymous diatom zone of the middle Oligocene (29.6?28.2 Ma). According to its taxonomic composition and structure, this assemblage is indicative of transgression environments and the presumable influence of the middle Oligocene climatic optimum. The Rocella gelida (upper part) and Thalassiosira praefraga diatom zones of the Oligocene-Miocene transition are established in the Kuluven Formation sediments of the Mt. Uvuch section in Kovachina Bay.  相似文献

The succession of radiolarian assemblages in the Struganik section of western Serbia is described for the first time. The following radiolarian beds are defined in carbonate flyschoid sequences represented by thin-platy limestones with calcarenite and bentonite clay intercalations (from the base upward): Theocampe urna-Dictyomitra koslovae (presumably lower Santonian); Afens perapediensis-Clathropyrgus titthium (presumably uppermost lower Santonian-basal upper Santonian); Alievium gallowayi-Crucella espartoensis (upper Santonian). The examined assemblages are characterized by high taxonomic diversity. The upper Santonian Alievium gallowayi-Crucella espartoensis Assemblage exhibits significant similarity with the coeval radiolarian assemblage of the Crimean Mountains (Ukraine). Archaeocenosphaera (?) karamatai sp. nov. is described.  相似文献

Acritarchs and other organic-walled microfossils occurring in siltstones of the Las Ventanas Formation (Quebrada de Viera and El Perdido members) are systematically described and illustrated. The assemblage includes the following species: Leiosphaeridia tenuissima, Leiosphaeridia minutissima, Lophosphaeridium sp., Soldadophycus bossii, Soldadophycus major, Soldadophycus sp. and Vendotaenia antiqua. The microflora is characterized by low diversity (six species), dominance of L. tenuissima, absence of acanthomorphic acritarchs, and relatively large size of sphaeromorphs, reaching 400 μm in diameter. A number of species are shared with acritarch assemblages preserved in the overlying Arroyo del Soldado Group. Differences between assemblages include the occurrence of abundant Bavlinella faveolata and small size of spheroids in the Arroyo del Soldado Group. The assemblage occurring in Las Ventanas Formation is assigned to the Ediacaran Leiosphere Palynoflora, which spans the interval between the base of the Ediacaran (end of the Marinoan Glaciation, 635 Ma) and the termination of the Gaskiers Glaciation (582 Ma). An early Ediacaran age between 615 and 579 Ma is also supported by available radiometric ages. An extensional setting for Las Ventanas basin is suggested on the basis of the bimodal, synsedimentary volcanism, strong palaeorelief, great thickness of alluvial fan conglomerates and the evolution from continental to open marine environments. Diamictites occurring in the Quebrada de Viera Member are described for the first time, including associated dropstones which suggest a glacial origin. If confirmed, this would be one more example of the association between rifting and glaciation in the Neoproterozoic, coeval with a low-diversity, high-abundance acritarch microflora. A causal relationship between these tectonic, climatic and biologic events is discussed.  相似文献

Acid-resistant, organic-walled microfossils (acritarchs) are reported from Lower and Middle Cambrian rocks penetrated by borehole Okuniew IG-1 in the western Podlasie depression. The study showed the presence of 11 acritarch species previously known from coeval rocks in northeast Poland. The assemblage from the Okuniew borehole is compared with characteristic assemblages from other parts of the East European platform.  相似文献

A micropaleontologic assemblage zone is defined by occurrence of some characteristic species among many coeval species. When number of assemblage-defining species and total number of species observed are designated as Aand N,respectively, the ratio, A/N,is strongly dependent on duration of the assemblage. Theoretical consideration on the basis of a micropaleontologic cohort model shows that, when origination rate and extinction rate of species are obtained, the most reasonable ratio (A/N) and duration of the assemblage can be determined. The probabilistic model described in this paper provides a theoretical relation between the ratio and the duration. Inaccuracy in correlating micropaleontologic data to certain assemblage zones established can not be avoided because of many natural sorting and artificial biases. Ambiguity arising when data with a small number of characteristic species are correlated with a certain assemblage is numerically estimated.  相似文献

The southern Kattegat is characterized by a strong halocline at a water depth of 10–20 m. Samples were collected within and below the halocline at 12–58 m. A Q-mode factor analysis identified three major and three minor foraminiferal assemblages, each characterized by one diagnostic species. Linear regression analyses showed that the distribution of assemblages and their diagnostic species is associated with substrate and hydrography. The Bulimina marginata assemblage is connected with fine-grained, organic-rich sediments below the halocline. The Elphidium excavalum and the Eggerelloides scabrus assemblages show weak correlations with substrate and are presumably connected with the halocline. Minor assemblages of Cibicides lobatulus and Textularia bocki are associated with coarse-grained sediments. The Stainforthia fusiformis assemblage has only weak correlation with substrate and hydrography.  相似文献

Setty and Nigam (1980) had described 72 species of benthonic foraminifers from 25 inner shelf stations off central West Coast of India and the results showed somewhat patchy and anamolous distributions. This paper presents the results ofQ-mode factor analysis, which was applied to reduce the number of variables into assemblages. The analysis reveals 4 important foraminiferal assemblages.Ammonia beccarii—Ammonia annectens assemblage,Nonion boueanum—Florilus scaphum assemblage.Trochammina inflata assemblage andBulimina exilis assemblage. They can be related to freshwater run-off and organic matter contents of the sediment.  相似文献

Comparison of benthic foraminiferal assemblages from the core obtained within the Peterburgskoe ore field (Mid-Atlantic Ridge) and from the core taken five kilometers away from the ore field revealed evident differences in their composition, in the appearance of their shells, and also in the benthic–plankton species ratio. It was noted that the foraminiferal assemblage from the ore-bearing sediments of the Petersburg field was characterized by a higher relative content of benthic species and a large number of chemically altered and broken shells. The first occurrence of the species Osangularia umbonifera, which is able to exist in lowoxygen and CaCO3-undersaturated bottom waters at the boundary of biogenic sediments surrounding the ore field and in the ore-bearing sediments, was established. In the core section sampled beyond the ore field, the composition of foraminiferal assemblages differs insignificantly from typical oceanic ones.  相似文献

The Lechówka section comprises the most complete Cretaceous–Paleogene (K-Pg) boundary succession in Poland and is among 29 sites worldwide with the youngest ammonite record. Here, cephalopods (ammonites and nautilids), organic-walled dinoflagellates (dinocysts) and foraminifera from the uppermost Maastrichtian interval are studied. In terms of ammonite biostratigraphy, the upper Maastrichtian Hoploscaphites constrictus crassus Zone is documented up to a level 120 cm below the K-Pg boundary. There is no direct, ammonite-based evidence of the highest Maastrichtian H. constrictus johnjagti Zone. However, the predominance of the dinocyst marker taxon Palynodinium grallator suggests the presence of the equivalent of the uppermost Maastrichtian Thalassiphora pelagica Subzone, which is correlatable with the H. c. johnjagti ammonite Zone. The planktonic foraminiferal assemblage is coeval with that from the H. c. johnjagti Zone as well. These data indicate that the top of the Maastrichtian at Lechówka is complete within the limits of biostratigraphic resolution, albeit slightly condensed. The dinocyst and foraminiferal assemblages are dominated by taxa that are characteristic of high-energy, marginal marine environments. A reduction in test size among the calcareous epifaunal benthic foraminifera is observed at a level 50 cm below the K-Pg boundary, which is possibly related to environmental stress associated with Deccan volcanism.  相似文献

The structure of macro infaunal (>0.5 mm sieve size) assemblages was examined in samples of unconsolidated substrates collected during the summers of 1994–1997 at 208 stations throughout North Carolina estuaries. Numerical classification (cluster analysis) of stations resulted in 14 distinct site groups that reflected discernible habitatrelated patterns in species distributions. Multiple discriminant analysis, performed on synoptic abiotic variables (depth, salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH, percent silt-clay), showed that the separation of site groups was related primarily to salinity. Percent silt-clay had a secondary influence on the separation of sites within similar salinity zones. Species diversity among site groups generally decreased with decreasing salinity and increasing mud content of sediment. Nodal analysis showed a wide range in constancy and fidelity of species assemblages within site groups. Some assemblages dominated by euryhaline species had no particular affinity with any one site group. The strongest affinities, as evidenced by high values of both constancy and fidelity, were displayed by an assemblage of oligochaetes, insect larvae, gammaridean amphipods, and the clamCorbicula fluminea in tidal freshwater muds; and an assemblage of haustoriid amphipods, the bivalveDonax variabilis, the polychaeteParaonis fulgens, and unidentified echinoids at high-salinity sites in outer Pamlico Sound near ocean inlets. A series of stations with impaired benthic assemblages in polluted habitats emerged from the cluster analysis and was distinguishable from other site groups that reflected a greater influence of natural controlling factors (such as salinity and sediment type) on species distributions. These results suggest that the interaction of both anthropogenic and natural environmental controlling factors is important in defining the structure of these infaunal assemblages.  相似文献

Organic-walled phytoplankton assemblages from Eocene and Oligocene reference sections of western Kamchatka are analyzed. They are close in taxonomic composition to coeval assemblages of northern Japan and Sakhalin that is a good opportunity to correlate regional units and verify their age. The euryhaline species Trinovantedinium boreale that is associated with Paralecaniella indentata and Micrhystridium preferring shallow low-salinity waters, on the one hand, and taxa dwelling in normal-salinity open sea environments, on the other, are dominant in most assemblages, which are examined. The suggested variant of bed succession with dinocyst assemblages may be valid for Japan, Sakhalin, Kamchatka, and the Bering Sea.  相似文献

The Paleocene-Eocene transition is one of the most remarkable Cenozoic periods coinciding with the global thermal maximum (PETM). Based on the complex biostratigraphic analysis of diatoms, silicoflagellates, and dinocysts, this global event is revealed in three sections of the Middle Trans-Urals region (Kamyshlov, Korkino, Chumlyak) represented by marine biosiliceous sediments of the Serov and Irbit formations. The interval of the Trinacra ventriculosa-Hemiaulus proteus-Coscinodiscus uralensis diatom zones is marked by the appearance of new genera Moisseevia, Solium, Fenestrella, Craspedodiscus, Podosira, Pseudotriceratium, intense radiations of Grunoweiella and Coscinodiscus, and development of extreme morphotypes among silicoflagellates. The defined diatom assemblages differ slightly from their coeval counterparts from the Middle Volga region, which casts doubt upon the assumed stable water exchange between these basins. On the contrary, the dinocyst assemblages are lacking zonal index species (Appectodinium homomorphum, A. augustum) and Apectodinium acme characteristic of the transitional Paleocene-Eocene strata in many worldwide localities. The facies settings of his period with intense vertical mixing and relatively low temperatures and salinity are characterized by the dominant role of dinocysts belonging to the genera Areoligera, Deflandrea, Spiniferites, and Operculodinium.  相似文献

The angiosperm pollen record from the Anfiteatro de Ticó and Punta del Barco formations (Baqueró Group) is reported. The relevance of these floras is that they are accurately dated as late Aptian, and one of the oldest floras southern South America with fossil angiosperms. Twelve samples were studied, showing Clavatipollenites and Retimonocolpites as dominant types. A new species, Jushingipollis ticoensis sp. nov., is proposed. A doubtful angiosperm pollen grain, Lethomasites sp., is also identified and described. A multivariate analysis of similarities between different Early Cretaceous angiosperm pollen assemblages suggests that the Baqueró Group assemblages have great similarities with other coeval units from Argentina, Australia and United States, which were located in a similar paleolatitude.  相似文献

The marine Pliocene-Pleistocene sequence of Iceland contains four main assemblages of mollusks: (1) Venerupis rhomboides et al., (2) Serripes groenlandicus et al., (3) Portlandia arctica et al., and (4) recent species. Analysis of the stratigraphic distribution of 100 species shows that the percentage of extinct species in the assemblages decreases from 40% in the oldest to 4–8% in the youngest. There is also a change from south boreal affinities in the oldest assemblage to north boreal in the youngest. The molluskan assemblages of Iceland can be correlated with Pliocene-Pleistocene assemblages of England and North Europe: (1) Coralline Crag, (2) Red Crag—lower part of the Icenian strata, (3) upper part of the Icenian-Cromerian strata. The upper boundaries of the Pliocene and Eopleistocene are defined by paleomagnetic data and radiological dating. The upper boundary of the Pliocene presumably should be established in the basalts lying between the Tjörnes and the Breidavik deposits by changes between the second and third mollusk assemblages and by the Gilsa paleomagnetic event.  相似文献
