The climate interannual variability is examined using the IAP-9L AGCM. The model is forced by the observed tropical Pacific sea surface temperature for the period 1960~89. Firstly, The variability of Southern Oscillation is studied.The simulated sea level pressure anomalies at both Tahiti and Darwin and outgoing longwave radiation in the tropics are realistically compared to observations. Secondly, global impact of SST variation in the tropics is studied, and main global teleconnection patterns is well showed. Finally, a singular value decomposition analysis performed with the tropical Pacific sea surface temperature and Northern Hemisphere 500 hPa geopotential height shows that the model's teleconnection between the Tropics and high latitudes is similar to that of the NCEP reanalysis data.
