| Abstract: | This paper analyzes the focal mechanism solutions of 52 medium-small earthquakes and 6 groups of composite focal mechanism solutions in Fujian region and its vicinities from 1996 to 2005.The conclusions are as follows：1）The major tectonic movement in Fujian is tensional strike slip；2）The maximum principal stress axis （P-axis）of Fujian is mainly in NW direction，300-320°；3）There are mainly strike slip earthquakes in the costal region，and normal fault earthquakes in the inland region；4）The P axis directions change regularly from the north to south of Fujian region which are NNW in the north and NWW to near EW in the south. |
