The Colour Origin of Gem Minerals

The colour of the gem minerals is the result of d electron transition of the groups of transition ions which are in the act of the crystal field. The d electron transition is affected by the symmetry level and composition of the coordinate polyhedron. The characterics of absorption spectrum of gem are influenced by the valence state of the center positive ions, the number and disstance of coordinate nigetive ions, the bilateral effection and selected regularity of the positive ions.
