Abstract:it is difficult to interpret the Mossbauer spectra of clinopyroxene because of high Fe3+ contents,exsolution and chemical inhomogeneity.Mineralogists commonly consider that when Fe3+ is present it is selectively concentrated in the regular octahedral M1 site. But we find that some Fe3+ is-distributed in tetrahedral sites in relation to the aluminum content,and a coupled substitution, R2+ +Si= Fe3+ +Al,leads to Fe3+ occurrence in tetrahedral and octahedral sites in aluminum -bearing Cpx.It is possible that M1 site of Cpx-megacrysts studied has been splitted into distinct two clusters with remarkably different hyperfine parameters because of the Next Nearest Neighbor(NNN)Effects.It is the Ca content in M2 site that governs. the NNN configurations.
