Geochemical Evaluation of Exploration Prospect in the Xiongxcun Copper-Gold District and Peripheral Areas,Xietongmen County,Tibet

Abstract:Abstract:Discover of the Xiongcun porphyry copper-gold deposit is one of the significant breakthrough for mineral exploration in the Ganddisi metallogenic belt in resent years. Geochemical survey plays an important role in evaluating ore-search prospect,determining mineralization zones and planning drill work. According to geochemical surveys and geology in the Xiongcun district and periphery areas,we have reached following tow conclusions: (1) The main mineralization type is porphyry copper-gold in this region and it also has skarn copper-gold and hydrothermal gold (or copper) mineralization. A significant NW-NE trending zone of element anomalies is present in the Xiongcun district and Puqingmu which lies in the northwest of the Xiongcun district,where exists consanguineous relationship between this anomaly zone and the two types of ore-bearing porphyries (hornblende quartz dioritewith big quartz eyes,and hornblende quartz diorite),and great potential for finding large-scale or giant porphyry copper-gold deposits. The Dongga district has the potential for finding porphyry copper-gold deposits or hydrothermal gold veins. The Yada mineralization area has exploration potential atdepth. The Yonggongba and Zeqiong mineralization areas have the potential for finding skarn copper-gold deposit. (2) Copper soil anomalies in the Xiongcun district are controlled by the terrain,usually in the downhill direction of the orebody. Au,Ag and Cu have similar characteristics of soil anomalies. The distribution of Pb and Zn soil anomalies are distributed around the ore body like satellites. This understanding can be used as direct evidence for the interpretation of soil anomalies in the Xiongcun district and periphery areas.
