This paper mainly introduces the compress method and structure of GRIB data and how to use GRIB data in GrADS to derive the original binary data GRIB data is compressed using the formula below: Y*10 D=R+(X*2 E) ,where,Y is the original binary data,D is the power of 10,R is the reference data,which is the minimum in all of data,X is the data writing into the GRIB data file,E is the power of 2 This formula is the basic of making GRIB data We can use GRIB data directly in GrADS if the corresponding ctl file and idx file are provided,otherwise,we can also make the corresponding ctl file and idx file in three ways
