| Abstract: | Abstract The serious disastrous rainstorm event occurred in the Sichuan basin, in 8-11 July 1989. The interactions between the tropical cyclone and the southwest vortex played an important role in this event. Diagnostic analysis on the interactions between the tropical cyclone and the southwest vortex reveals its effects on the evolution of the southwest vortex and the occurrence of heavy rain. |
