| Abstract: | The elastic parameters, their main evidences and relevance to the earth's dynamics of the anisotropy of the upper mantle are discussed in this paper. Some important results achieved by other researchers in recent years are summaried and an introduction to the methods used to inverse the surface wave data is included. |
