Abstract:Intensity ratios of different auroral lines during an auroral substorm observed at Antarctic Zhongshan Station on April 8,1999 are discussed together with the variation in penetrating electron energy.It was found that the ratio of I(557.7 nm)/I(427.8 nm) during the quiet period ranged from 5 to 22,and the ratio of I(630.0 nm)/I(427.8 nm) ranged from 1 to 2.76,and the cause of the change was not variation in the atomic oxygen concentration,but was possibly due to variation in the penetrating electron energy ...
