Abstract:Due to the large differences between the rigidity of the pipe and the soil, the motion of soil and pipe cannot be coordinated with each other under earthquakes. As a result, the deformation transferring mechanism between the pipe and the soil is extremely important for seismic design of pipeline. At present, few scholars have done researches on pipe-soil interaction of bent pipes. In this paper, based on a scaled shaking table test and simulation with a three-dimensional finite element model of the elbow and the soil, a fitting formula for the deformation transferring coefficient of buried elbows under earthquake is obtained. The change laws and control factors of the deformation transfer coefficient at the pipe elbow is also analyzed, including the analysis of different pipe diameters, buried depths, wall thickness, soil properties, and elbow angles, which have great influences on the interaction between pipe and soil. The fitting formula of the deformation transfer coefficient at the elbow in this paper is of great significance to the seismic design of the pipeline.
