A Comprehensive Study of City Large Scale Topographic Map Automation

Map automatic generalization has always been a difficult challenging research topic .With the development of information -enabled geomatic technologies , map automatic generalization is then brought into research hotspot .Besides, city management has been driven to be more elaborated by the rapid development of social economy and urban construction , the demand of automatic generaliza-tion of large-scale map is being urgent , especially for those urban planning , land management and other industry oriented applica-tions, map generalization from scale 1∶500 to scale 1∶1 000 or 1∶2 000 is extensively desired , of great significance and research im-portance .
