外语教学不能忽视文化差异

在英汉两种文化里,许多词语承载着各自的联想意义,这些联想意义有的部分相同,有的不同或截然相反,有的词义在两种文化中没有对应词。文化差异还表现在诸多用语如问候语、恭维语、致谢语、禁忌语等以及非言语交际手段如手势、表情等方面。外语教师不仅应把这些差异融入教学过程中,还应组织各种课外活动帮助学生了解母语和目的语的文化差异,从而提高学生的跨文化交际能力。

Cultural Differences Should not be Neglected in FLT

In English and Chinese cultures,a large number of words carry their respective connotations or associative meanings.Some of these associative meanings are partially the same;some are different or just opposite;some have no equivalence at all.There are also cultural differences in many other expressions such as greetings,compliments,thanks,taboos,etc.and in non-verbal communications such as gestures and facial expressions and so on.Foreign language teachers should not only integrate these differnces into language teaching,but also organize all kinds of extra-curricular activities to help students to learn cultural differences between their native tongue and the target language to improve their intercultural communicative competence.
