外语教学不能忽视文化差异

摘    要:在英汉两种文化里,许多词语承载着各自的联想意义,这些联想意义有的部分相同,有的不同或截然相反,有的词义在两种文化中没有对应词。文化差异还表现在诸多用语如问候语、恭维语、致谢语、禁忌语等以及非言语交际手段如手势、表情等方面。外语教师不仅应把这些差异融入教学过程中,还应组织各种课外活动帮助学生了解母语和目的语的文化差异,从而提高学生的跨文化交际能力。

Abstract:In English and Chinese cultures,a large number of words carry their respective connotations or associative meanings.Some of these associative meanings are partially the same;some are different or just opposite;some have no equivalence at all.There are also cultural differences in many other expressions such as greetings,compliments,thanks,taboos,etc.and in non-verbal communications such as gestures and facial expressions and so on.Foreign language teachers should not only integrate these differnces into language teaching,but also organize all kinds of extra-curricular activities to help students to learn cultural differences between their native tongue and the target language to improve their intercultural communicative competence.
