| Abstract: | The basin classification system is based primarily on the theory of plate tectonics. In this paper, many types, tectonic evolution, modifying tectonics and hydrocarbon occurrence of oil-and gas-bearing basins of China are discussed in detail. It comes to conclusion as follows ( 1 ) the type of the oil-and gas-bearing basin is mostly intracratonic or plate-interior depression or faulted depression; (2) most types of the oil-and gas-bearing basins of China are not a simple basin with only one sedimentary ( or tectonic ) cycle, but a superimposed one, i.e.a complex polyhistory basin, with many different cycles; ( 3 ) hydrocarbon occurrence is controlled by many factors, such as the types of basins, their tectonic evolution ( including age of basin formation, depth of source beds ) arid modifying tectonics etc.. |
