AN ANALYSIS OF THE POTENTIAL OF ECONOMIZATION ON INDUSTRIAL WATER IN THE ZHUJIANG DELTA

Industry that plays a vital role in socio-economic system in the Zhujiang Delta is a high water consumption as well as huge sewage discharge sector. Economization on industrial water is a strategic measure for improving the state of water environment in the Zhujiang Delta. Some methods for measuring the potential of saving water are discussed concisely. A comparative method of water consumption norms is selected to analyze the potential of water economization for industry in the Zhujian Delta. A referenced index system of industrial water saving in the Zhujiang Delta is presented, and the water saving potentials of various industrial sectors in the Zhujiang Delta are studied. It is indicated that the potential of economization on industrial water is high in the Zhujiang Delta, and that industrial water saving programs should be included in water resources exploitation and protection plan.
