Abstract: | Paleomagnetic measurements have been conducted on Mio-Pliocene marine sedimentary series from Crete in order to detect any eventual rotation of this island. The results obtained from 14 stable sites of Tortonian age (~ 7 m.y.) yield a paleomagnetic pole not significantly different from either the European or the African ones, showing that Crete has not undergone any significant rotation since that epoch. |
