| Abstract: | Since the Lower Pleistocene series in Chongtong basin which is at the north foot of Mufu mountain has not been found for a long time, the Quaternary stra-tigraphic system appears to be not complete. Now the shortcoming is over because of the result of studies presented by this paper. For the first time a completed Quaternary stratigraphic system of the basin is established based on the two ab-solute age determination method;14C age dating and thermoluminescent dating. Several teeth of Rhinoceros sinensis are also found within loess soil in a cave. It is the second fossil point of Quaternary mammal compositions at the north foot of Mufu mountain, which provides important information for searching Ailuropoda -Stegodon fossils. |
