Abstract: | The subsidence of seamounts in the northwestern Pacific is suggested from the unexpected high vesicularity of submarine basaltic rocks which were dredged from great depths. There exists a tendency that the closer the seamount is situated to the trench axis, the greater the amount of subsidence becomes. |
