| Abstract: | Landscape ecology is a comprehensive subject, spanning a wide diversity of disciplines ranging from geography, ecology, and environmental science. This paper traces the development of landscape ecology from its origins in Germany to the status. Landscape ecology research in Europe, North America, and International Association for Landscape Ecology (IALE) is introduced. The trends of landscape ecological research are theorical development, landscape ecological design, sustainable landscape management , and effects of global change on landscape ecosystem. |
