Establishment of the pre-Sinian Xiaoanh Formation and the discovery of the Puling Formation Basalts in Southern Anhui

In South Anhui a carbonate-clastic rock series, with rich microplants, was found between the unconformity of the overlying Sinian Xiuning Formation and the underlying pre-Sinian metabasalt of the Puling Formation. Due to its regional stability, the rock series has been newly named the Xiaoanli Formation. The underlying Puling Formation consists mainly of metavolcanite, which was stably distributed and is disconformable with the strata above and below. The deposition of this formation was related to the volcanic eruption-deposition in terrigenous litteral environment of island arc type at the margin of continent.
