Abstract:We deduced the equation using travel time differences between sPn and Pn waves to calculate focal depths.In the equations the travel time differences between sPn and Pn have nothing to do with the epicenter distance,and only with the focal depth and regional crustal model.According to the equation,we use the data of sPn and Pn wave travel time difference to determine the depth of the earthquake.On 30 August and 31 August 2008 in Panzhihua and Huili two earthquakes with Ms6.1 and Ms5.6 occurred respectively ...
