Abstract:It is discovered that the relative abundances of two trace elements in igneous rocks with petrogenesis of fractional crystallization have exponential relation from each other and obey the equation of relative abundance. All parameters in the law could be analysed or measured by experiment. Conversely, the parameters in Neu-man's equation ( 1954) are unknown except the partition coefficients of elements. But Neuman's equation is important, useful and correct because the elemental relative abundance law could be deduced from it, and vice versa. The different forms of the two parameters in the relative abundance law: fractional crystallization constant ( R ) and cumulus magma relation constant ( a ) could be measured by experiment and deduced from Neuman's equation.
